andrewbaba44:Militao is technically substandard compared to Corporate shoe |
Boehly pricing transfers

Unlimited22:Wetin goalie know about setting up outfield players? |
Unlimited22:Goalkeeper as Technical Advisor was never a good idea |
eitsei:What is more pivotal than defeating the main threat Ivory Coast and winning the final? |
This EPL record still stands undefeated amongst midfielders. EPL games only.

Griffon:If this is what Tuchel can come up with as suggestions (all overhyped and overpaid), then we need a new Director of Football ASAP. Some managers spend too much time planning training sessions and don't watch other teams to know what good players are available at good value. Tuchel is one of those. |
Roland17:Nigga thinks this is America where we celebrate players signing new contract like it's a new signing. We already expect to keep James, he gets no kudos for that. I can just picture him thinking that James signing new contract is an achievement the fans will credit him with, like an American owner of say LA Lakers celebrating achievement of Lebron signing new contract. |
donstan18:There is no such thing as a friendly with Ghana |
eitsei:That QF was against Ivory Coast, the deadliest team we all feared, and the final goal was the winning goal. Yes, I can say Mba was the pivotal player based on that |
These stories of Boehly personally doing this and that is becoming too much. Guy dey whine us abi wetin. I no know say Billionaire fit dey jobless like this. He suppose get other businesses he dey run abi he no get work?
|
Cujo007:If he can prove his Uni of Chicago certification, there's nothing left to prove in terms of secondary education. All this one na story. |
hardbody:Go on linkedin and review 100 directors of Fortune100 companies and tell me how many have their secondary school results up there. |
Xbobtage:Why does his secondary school matter when he has University to cover it. Senior men don't write their secondary school results on CV, only fresh graduates and people new to their career. Imagine Okonjo Iweala putting NECO or WAEC result on her CV for a second, you'll know how preposterous this sounds. |
raumdeuter:Mikels most active phase is 2009 to 2012, and even then at no point was he guaranteed except during RDMs spell and Hiddinks two short spells. |
chrisooblog:On this point I will add that there is no way prime Oliseh will be in a club and the likes of Oriol Romeu and David Luiz will bench him in DM position So although the plenty competition of Ballack, Essien, Makelele sounds like a good argument, the counter is that when all those players left, Obi was inadequate without them and could not even keep his place against yeomen and centrebacks. Mikel has been a bench player since January 2013 and even the Matic that finally chased Mikel away will be nicely benched by a prime Oliseh. |
chrisooblog:Point taken, this is a reasonable position |
Joezinho:Mikel came in the era of football academy when they take them young so usually they only cut 2 to 5 years. I think Mikel will be within 2 years of P Square age, maybe 38. It is uncommon for players with 5 years age gap to play together in teenage years. |
Joezinho:lol. Baba would have had to wipe out his records from Russia and Uzbekistan to enter Under-17 then. Niggas real age was known in CSKA Academy. He ended up using his real age sha. The only niggas in that set that used something close to their true age were Osaze, George Abbey and Joseph Yobo. Yobo only cut his age by 2 or 3 years cos he is roughly the same age as George Abbey who he grew up with and who used his real age to travel to Europe on his mother's British passport. On official documents, Abbey senior Yobo with only 2 years which means Yobo did not cut too much.
|
andrewbaba44:Age gap then can be 5 to 12 years sef. They didn't have academies like now which have reduced the age gap a bit. Players like Olofinjana, Oliseh, Enyeama had fully finished University, even NYSC before going to Europe to claim a different age. Likes of Aghahowa was a Policeman and Yakubu was a painter before even entering Naija league for 2 or 3 years and then traveling abroad to claim 17. Others have been around Niaja league for 5 to 7 years before going for under-17 trials. Man must feed his family. |
timbros:Though the list does exist, his point of not comparing eras based on Wikipedia still stands. Nobody who watched the tournament will not put Oliseh as one of the first names on the list with Yekini, Elijah Litana, Joel Tiehi, Kalusha Bwalya and Ben Iroha. These were by far the 6 standout players in that tournament, with Koulibaly of Mali probably being squeezed out by Tiehi and Yekini in the striker spots. The list is rubbished by the presence of Abedi Pele who did little and was knocked out in QF (Senior man award), the shoehorning of Amokachi in midfield (played as striker with zero goals and zero assists). Even Okocha inclusion is highly dubious as he wasn't a guaranteed starter though his only goal contribution of the tournament which was a beautiful double one-two assist for Iroha against Ivory Coast may give him a spot based on the wowness of that goal alone. So what this tells you is that was a time when DM work was not respected and they try to fit in as many forwards as possible to the TOTT. Pirlo performance in Euro 2012 gave value to the DM putting long balls to striker when it came to awards. Oliseh showed us that repeatedly in 1994 but it was barely noticed. If such performance is repeated today, Oliseh will not only enter TOTT but will win POTT outright. This is an example of the difference between what different eras give honour to that make Wikipedia comparisons across eras a foolish exercise. |
Joezinho:That one is still very debatable. Yobo was a regular starter in Europe unlike Mikel the eternal bench man. Keshi also did not see success with Super Eagles till 1994. Uche Okafor actually displaced Keshi in AFCON final while Chidi Nwanu was brought in for World Cup to partner Okechukwu. By 1994, Keshi was more like Ahmed Musa is today, a senior man supporting the team from the bench and playing sometimes. |
andrewbaba44:Something you must remember when assessing Oliseh post 2001 is this is a nigga that has finished University at Unilag, probably done NYSC before going to Europe to claim 19. Our players don't last long then cos VAT was too much on their age. Even Taribo West who PH boys in football circles know for playing football since 1980s and has been playing NPFL since 1989 will come and be claiming 22 years old in 1996 Olympics |
popizaino:Brentford Griffin park. Ghana fans mocked us to pieces that day. The worst was one of my Ghanian friends saw me after the game and offered me a lift in a car full of Ghanaians. I suffered that day ehn. |
Joezinho:There is no age Mikel was whether 19, 22 or 30 that will replace a 19 year old Oliseh. I've actually had the pleasure of watching both players live in the stadium for Super Eagles, Oliseh once and Mikel maybe once or twice. My last memory of Mikel was going to Brentford stadium to see Mikel look technically great at keeping the ball as usual, but saw Appiah and Essien run through him time and time again as Ghana smashed us 4-1. I stopped going to Super Eagles matches after that. I had been to all Super Eagles matches played in England since 2001 or 2002 where I saw Oliseh dominate the play against Japan at Southampton stadium. In DM work, what happens off-the-ball is as important as on-the-ball and this is where Obi fans have blindspot. |
hensben:The original question was start one, bench one and bin one between Oliseh, Mikel and Ndidi. That's not even a question, and the only Super Eagles success in 2013 you can point to, Mikel was given a comfortable role away from DM |
hensben:You and I know that's a senior man thing and Mikel was not even better than Sunday Mba, Victor Moses and co in that tournament and did nothing in club football that year either except ride bench |
hensben:Do you know that Okocha himself was not a guaranteed starting player and only started 3 games in AFCON and 1 game in World Cup? How will Mikel enter a 4-4-2 team that Okocha cannot enter with confidence. Mind you, the original question is which DM will you pick, and in a 4-4-2 team with only one DM, and sometimes no traditional CM (SiaSia comes back to play CM), Mikel will never smell starting line-up. Nobody will be dropping Amokachi or Yekini to play a 3 man midfield. I will leave Raumdeuter to tell you more about how Nigeria was doing well in World Cup till Okocha was given shirt for Italy match. |
andrewbaba44:The point is to show that Mikel placing 2nd in Africa POTY was complete fugazi. |
andrewbaba44:If I ask you where Ben Iroha, Eguavoen, Keshi, Yekini, SiaSia, Friday Elahor and even Amokachi were playing, you will find that that squad was full of players whose European clubs were on the level of Oshaniwas. That was a squad that used to take unemployed players like Isaac Semitoje and Nduka Ugbade to tournaments. By unemployed, I mean these players had literally been CLUBLESS for months when they were taken to AFCON and could not find an employer. The only player in a big club in that whole squad was Finidi. Amunike was even in Zamalek in Egyptian league. Their greatness comes from what they did on the pitch for Nigeria, not because they were playing for Barca or Madrid. Thankfully we don't need magic to see that the same Sunday Mba you castigated was Nigeria's best player in that tournament. I don't need to prove to you that Oliseh was not our key player. I have done so by showing game-winning actions. I can do the same for Sunday Mba in 2013, but you can never do the same for Mikel. Mikel was the one accomodated in that tournament by Onazi who did all his defending and Mba who did all his running and scoring. |
andrewbaba44:Calendar Year 2013, Mikel did not start more than 10 league games. Prove me wrong |
donstan18:I gave you 3 key things to prove to me. 1. That Slowbi started more than 10 league games in 2013 calendar year when he placed second in African POTY. You have been jumping upandan since. This completely blows any credibility to that award. 2. Chelsea Young Player of the year award for 2007/2008 which you put up as evidence of Obis greatness, I asked you which young players were in Chelsea first-team squad in that year. FYI, only Salomon Kalou, but then again you are not very bright so I don't expect you to see something and understand it's import because you probably do not know the make-up of Chelsea first team squad in 2008 as intimately as I do, to know your arguments are founded on a pack of sawdust. WTF does Mikel winning Chelsea Young Player of the Year against Salomon Kalou mean to anyone with any iota of intelligence? I will leave unsaid an obvious fact here that Oliseh was most likely the best player in his teams as evidenced by the fact he got the big moves but Wikipedia won't tell you there probably wasn't online voting for Cologne, Liege or Ajax POTY back then in an era when people didn't even have mobile phones talkless of internet. 3. Which of those 4 Oliseh assists do you want to cancel to agree with your Wikipedia stats that he only gave 2 assists. Again, another proof that you are out of your depth relying on Wikipedia to tell you the value of Oliseh from a time-period you never witnessed. Meanwhile, I showed you with visual evidence Olisehs impact on a tournament. You are now telling me Nigeria has done nothing since Obi, when Obis 14 year tenure was characterized by unthinkable failures and disgraces like repeatedly failing to qualify for AFCON and World Cup, and only success was in 2013, while Olisehs tenure was success upon success. If Abacha had not got Super Eagles banned from AFCON in 1996 and 1998, I'm sure Oliseh would have 3 AFCONS, at the very least 2 AFCONS to his name, another fact you probably have no idea of. Too many gaps in your knowledge. At every turn, you have exhibited stùpidity, but want to force it through with agidi. Go to sleep, you can't prove agidi with me. |
