Roland17: Top teams exchange players, most times top players.
Arsenal have bought a total of 13 players directly from Chelsea since PL era. I don't think Chelsea have bought more that 2/3 players directly from Arsenal (I stand corrected). I am not speaking of the likes of Fabregas who joined Barcelona before Chelsea, Aubameyang or Anelka. I am speaking of Ashley "traitor" Cole, & Giroud
In 22 years under Wenger, he got only 4 Chelsea players in Gallas, Bennayoun, Cech and L. Diarra.
Under Arteta, we has nearly doubled that with 7 players in only 6 years. This man is averaging 1 Chelsea player per season.
Worsetill, here is the quality of scrap Arteta has been farming from Chelsea.
Gbavertz Luiz Jorginho Willian Sterling Kepa Madueke
Mudiaga alias "On Colos", the one he lost to Chelsea after a transfer battle would have been on his way to Arsenal if he wasn't banned.
So no, it is not a case of Arsenal historically buying Chelsea players, it is now an irresponsible fetish that reeks of laziness and mediocre mindset. Thank you for your Service

Just to keep the fans busy.
Then came Rodrygo. Then Eze.
Realizing none will happen, they shift the hype to Madueke.
Fans grow restless. To calm them, they reignite the Gyökeres saga.
Then quickly sign Madueke.
Meanwhile, Gyökeres remains a fantasy. The director’s been stalling…
Before you know it, Havertz starts Arsenal’s opening game. Ever reliable Arsenal Iamoyindamola and Roland17 should come and thank us once again for the assist

Chelsea fans who don't love our club will always defend sluggish CMs and DMs holding us back
The minute those sluggish DMs leave the club, their true level reveals itself
I have been having these arguments for over a decade from Mikel to Fabregas to Jogginghoe, now Enzo
They will defend and defend, but unable to defend immediately that player leaves the club and shows his true level elsewhere, then you see the liability Chelsea has been carrying
Mikel stans that were defending him saw him leave to China and immediately relegated his Chinese club, then end up at Middlesbrough shortly after. This is who they wanted Chelsea to carry in our midfield
Fabregas fans saw him immediately almost relegate Monaco, getting booed and benched for Malian players there. This is who they wanted Chelsea to carry in our midfield
Jogginghoe fans immediately saw him take several seats behind Partey to the point Arsenal fans won't contemplate any injury to Partey. From Ballon d'Or standing to miles behind a common DM like Partey. This is who they wanted Chelsea to carry in our midfield.
Enzo is just the latest iteration of these sluggish midfielders that we have to carry to our detriment.
Put Caicedo in Enzo position and a DM behind Caicedo and we instantly improve 1000% and become contenders |

Android17: Vitinha's greatest attribute is his press-resistance. That's why he splits the defense to receive the pass first from Donnarumma when PSG are about to progress the ball. Truth is, Jorginho was also press-resistant but unlike Vitinha who is doing everything you've said above, Jorginho could only evade the press by passing rightly. In other words, he depended on the movement of the players around him. If nobody made the right outlet, Jorginho will lose the ball.
In Vitinha's case, even without the right movements around him, he'd simply manipulate the ball out of the press. Harry Kane tried severally to press him against Bayern but it was futile. Enzo is alot like Jorginho in needing movements around him to evade the press. But he's showing that Gundogan tendency to arrive into the box at the right times to score, and if he sees an outlet in the attacking third, he doesn't hesitate to make that pass. He's more like Fabregas but with less of Cesc's imagination. 100% Actually the definition of press resistant is turning a man when there are no passing options and Jorginho is 0% at that one |

Unlimited22: Lmao
If anything, Enzo is playing the role Fabián Ruiz is playing.
There's no way on God's earth that you'll be comparing Fabián Ruiz to Cole Palmer.
Just go look Enzo heat map. We play with a midfield duo and an AM where he's expected to track back, win balls, and still crash the box. Fabián can box crash while knowing he has a controller and a little demon tiger behind him. Enzo had been a failure in CM role for 2 years, it's only the last 6 months he started crashing box So talk about his 2 years disaster in CM role and not the small crashing box that nobody sent him You already have a Palmer in front of you, you are still vacating midfield to go drag crashing box after failing as CM for 2 years. Who will have Palmer in AM and still be talking about he's an AM while not doing any CM duty Nonsense and ingredients Tell me about his 2 years failure before he started his useless box crashing for poverty numbers (in comparison to a real AM) There's a reason we hail Caicedo die, that's because EVERYBODY KNOWS he is working for 2, even Enzo stans Is there any big club in World football that will accept Enzo as their AM? Someone that press will break down on his press every time cos he's so sluggish, and with what goal scoring numbers does he bring to table that is worthy of AM? |

swiz123: My eyes bleed whenever I read your analysis. No one in history types nonsense so confidently.
First , Enzo plays CM and makes more riskier passes than Vitinha. He might not be very fast but so is Fabian Ruiz who is also a CM but why is Ruiz’s lack of athleticism not an issue? Let me educate your lack of critical reasoning.
PSG press aggressively and most importantly as a unit. Opposition are forced to go long which makes them turnover possession. One thing about losing the ball while trying to go long is that you can’t press in sync to win the ball. This allows PSG so much time with the ball. Vitinha benefits from this and also complements this by always being available to receive a pass.
Where was his controlling ability when Portugal faced Spain? Think properly for once and let go off agenda. One player can’t be the problem of a team, you always do this God!!!
Enzo was gliding like an Eagle during the World Cup because of Argentina’s effective press. I remember you gave De Paul credit for it. Why not give Neves credit for PSG midfield because his relentless press ensures PSG have possession which Vitinha enjoys. Stop talking rubbish Vitinha and Enzo are both CMs so they will be compared on CM stats which are around passes and pressing effectiveness, not AM stats which is for Palmer to qwantar with Ruiz Caicedo = Neves Enzo = Vitinha Palmer = Ruiz Enzo was the DM for Argentina with McAllister and DePaul doing the shuttle runs. Enzo just had to sit back and sweep up. He does not have the legs to recover from the shuttle runs. He should stay in the position we bought him for, which is the only position he has legs to play, at least he won't be vacating the midfield and not getting back |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 11:51pm On Jul 10, 2025 |
Singapore1: I agree that 85% pass accuracy is poor for a midfielder ( I am even of the opinion that anything below 90% is unacceptable because it mean miss 1 out of every 5 passes which is poor), but you're only focusing on that one stat. The full stats show that Enzo took more risks, won more duels, and created more chances. You're not being fair to him, and the only reason you dislike him is because he’s not your typical Bissouma/Lavia/Caicedo type of player.
Does he need to do more? A big yes. Is he being disrespected? Also a big yes. he is the "jack of all trades" of the 3 midfield we have .. No worry, by Sunday you will see the wide chasm behind those useless stats. Enzo pass nothing ball to Gusto, Palmeiras keeper fumble Gusto shot, Enzo pass nothing ball to JP, JP unleashes screamer, you tally assist stat against useless teams and use to compare with Vitinha who is babying the best midfields in the world Enzo cannot even compete adequately against a midtable EPL team. Spits If you cannot close space and you cannot control the play, there is nothing to discuss in terms of midfield work, and Enzo is woeful at both |

Realtord43: The herd mentality here is worrisome. If any one here criticized a player here some will just join in without having self thought.
Imagine calling Enzo Fernandez ghost worker but he's toping the assists chart and going neck to neck with Vintinha in stats. Which stats is he going neck to neck with Vitinha in? Do you know the wide chasm between a 95% pass success rate and 85% success rate for a central midfielder? Only clowns who don't know midfield work will read anything into those stats, none of them are relevant for a CM except pass success rate which he is lagging behind woefully That 85% pass success rate Enzo is on is what you expect from your run of the mill KDH level midfielder while the 95% for Vitinha is a Xavi level stat And the most important stat for CM work, which is no of passes per game is missing, nor do any of those stats show you the number of times Vitinha makes his press in time while Enzo is nowhere to be seen on his presses, that's why we call him a ghost worker. Those who watch football for spaces closed and rejected are the ones who will call him a ghost worker while Playstation watchers like yourself never see any problem in a midfielder who never closes or gets close to his man on his half of the midfield press You no Sabi anything midfield |

Thing about signing for Spurs at his age is he will finish his best days there. At 25 turning 26, he should have been making his big move that will fill his trophy cabinet. Looks like his will be a career unfulfilled. I think City were sniffing round him earlier before the Cherki deal so he is a candidate for the top clubs, just that his timing is off. If I were him I'd wait one more year than move to Spurs. Moving to Spurs is a death sentence for a player hitting the prime of their career. Levi go lock you down there and frustrate you. Sunderland got a very good deal for Adingra at £21m
Adingra can play for B+ to A- team, his delivery is superb and he doesn't waste time. One body-feint move to create space and an accurate cross is coming in immediately
West Ham should have got him for the opposite flank to Bowen, perfect balance between a crosser and a box runner |
