Yes, you can travel without knowing anyone, but be ready to put in the work. Your ND certificate is not valuable in the US, before you get a job you will need to get an Employment Authorization permit, after that you can the either wanna upgrade your ND certificate to enable you to get a better job or do some certifications ,that just my one cent.
