let me use this opportunity to brief my nairalander family about the new tricks now being used by one chance operators on unsuspecting/innocent passengers on lagos roads.
I happen to travel back from akure into lagos,this morning (saturday,17th september 2016), i was dropped at alausa secretariat bus stop along lagos ibadan expressway.i tried looking for a commercial bus to take me to my destination(oshodi)but most importantly see have been filled up before getting to the busstop.
after some minutes of waiting for vehicle,two commercial vehicle came at the same time calling for persengers,i entered the first vehicle because although its empty,there was a persenger beside the driver unlike the second,i sat down beside him at the front and the vehicle left the bus-stop,suddenly the conductor opened the door beside me and started closing/jamming it Intermittently,i was distracted with his actions,it got to a time i had to take over the door from him so as to close it well myself.then driver packed,asked me to get down with the excuse that the conductor want to find solution to the door problem.i got down as Instructed,but lo and behold,the bus zommed off immediately i stepped down.
something in my mind tells me all is not well,because i dont see any reason why he should drop me at nowhere and speedoff,that was when i checked my pocket and discovered my phone(samsung s4) is missing..........probably the reason the driver speed off after dropping me where it would be hard for me to get another vehicle to pursue them.

lesson learnt

watch the kind of vehicle you enter in lagos,if too scantily filled avoid like plague,they may be 2 or 3 men gang operating one chance.

try at all time to board vehicle from the park(in case of eventuality,they can be easily tracked).

as a security measure try to memorise vehicle numberplate before you enter them.

if peradventure you find yourself inside one chance,please and please do not struggle with them,your life is more precious than anything they want to take from you,they can be deadly.

if you find out that the vehicle conductor/ is in hurry to pick just one or two persenger and leave, take caution in entering such vehicles,they may be one chance syndicate.

also as a security measure we should endeavour to password all applications(including mobile banking apps,messages,photo etc) on our phones and delete all messages relating to financial transactions on our phones as soon as possible...it can easily fall into wrong hands when stolen.
(thank GOD i did password)

never get distracted when you are in a commercial bus,it might be intentional so as to catch you unaware
(i fell for this)

last but not the least,we should commit ourself into the LORD before any journey and always SHINE YA EYE.

Presently, we have three and five year license validity,and you are allowed to choose the one you like.

The price of drivers license remains same throughout the nation.

N6350 for 3years and N10450 for 5year (officially )

I just bought a Naija used car. The person that sold the car bought it as Naija used car and did change of plate/registration number. Is it possible for me to also change the plate number again because I was told that I cannot do change of plate twice for a particular car. Please your advice and response

There are some latest model of cars that have been pre-fitted with the factory luminous redlight,if your vehicle falls into that category you do not need a reflective tapes at the rear bumper.
And let me say `yes' and 'no'.
Yes in the sense that it can be added to other offences if you are found wanting in of the traffic laws.
No in the sense that it if you dont have any offences,you can be warned or advised to go get one for your vehicle.

What are the amount to pay for each too.

Vehicle license is in range of 1.5k to 2.5k depending on the engine capacity
Road worthiness is 2k
And the insurance costs 5k (for a third party insurance),if your vehicle license has been automated,its only the v/license u have to renew if it has expired for long

It varies with model with a difference of like 1k.

The agreement can not serve you at all,when considering buying a car always have a plan for the documentation.

hey ibru. thanks for making this thread. i would like to know the current cost of renewing the vehicle license of a saloon car. i went to the office at Delta state and i was told its #2,150 per year and since the car was registered last at 2010 i need to mutiply that amount six times for the 6yrs. i was told by my mechanic that i could nnegotiate an extension of the normal 1yr expiry date after paying the 12,750. i wanna know if the charges given were in line with the norm. I should also point out that the lady at the licensing office gave me a tempoary note that should be used for driving for a month until i can pay the #12,500 vehicle license fee.



i will also like to know the papers the police do request for when you are flagged down at a checkpoint. Thanks

Unlike before, vehicle license renewal has been automated in most states so therefore you will have to pay all the money owed, to this current time.

Also,papers that are usually demanded by police includes vehicle licence,roadworthiness certificate,insurance,d/licence,sometimes the P.O.C,ALLOCATION PAPER,C.M.R &TINTED PERMIT (if its tinted)

The LASDRI card is bourne out of the need to recertify drivers in the state to be abreast of all driving requirements.
In getting lasdri card,at the lasdri center,the applicant is expected to have obtained a valid drivers license,before applying for the lasdri card,as the card does not represent a drivers licence.
The lasdri card is designed for category of people that takes driving as a source of livelihood,eg company driver's,commercial driver's,truck driver's, private driver's (if you drive a boss and earn your income as a driver) etc.

The answer to your question is why wont the owner of a vehicle report to the police when his vehicle is stolen? Its a vehicle for GOD sake not a biro,there are many advantages of reporting a stolen vehicle,which are
1.you notify the authority and the general public about your property that have been stolen
2.it saves you the trouble you might get in if it is used to commit any crime
3.you will be hopeful that it will be found.
4.you will give the authority the permission to prevent the re-registration of such stolen vehicle.

Some FRSC guys said my drivers' license was fake so I went to Wilmer center to process a new one, that's was in July 2015. I filled the form, made payment and was given date for VIO interview. I went there on the said date and met close to 350 people already there for the interview, we all waite for our turn and about few minutes to 4pm they stopped accepting people and asked us to come back on Monday of the following week.

Been a very person I have not been able to make out time to go back there for the interview, but I still have the papers signed and stamped by the MVAA Wilmer Apapa center.

My question is, what do you think I can do since its six months already, is the form still valid?

Yes the form is still very valid and you can continue where you stopped.

Pls notify the authority immediately and if its a mistake return it immediately o,it happen to a colleague of mine in the office that was overpaid to the tune of 250,000 instead of his normal 50,000 salary for his level,instead of him to alert the authority he went about galivanting and spending anyhow,when it was finally discovered,the guy was without salary for full five months all he get is alert without physical cash.....come see hunger and regret all written on his face always

I recently just did my car registration and got the new license plates and all other necessary documents only for me to be informed by my car dealer that they had given me the wrong custom papers as a result my documents are carrying chassis number of another car, i now have the right custom papers. please how do i amend this grossly mistake. Take the new customs papers to the person that registered the vehicle for you and explain things to him,though not easy,it can be rectified.

Bsc or msc,abeg take the job,its better than sitting idle at home doing nothing,

SIMPLIFICATION OF THE STEPS TO TAKE IN GETTING DRIVERS LICENCE IN NIGERIA

FRESH APPLICANTS
for fresh applicants the government made it compulsory for applicant to pass through the driving school for the driving test before they are presented to the MVAA (motor vehicle administration agency) for applicants payment.

after the neccesary payments,the candidates are presented to the VIS (vehicle inspection services),commonly refferred to the VIO for
1. eye tests
2.written test
3.road sign test
4.driving test
if the candidate performs satisfactorily,then his form is signed and billed for capture onto the database with the FRSC(federal road safety corps),if unsatisfied with the applicant performance,he/she will be requested to come back for the exam/testing after a period of 7 days.

the FRSC handles the capturing (taking of biometrics and pictures of applicants)


WHY THE PROCESS
Just like every other government projects, like the international passport, the involvement of the FRSC in drivers license was designed to make the license uniform all over the country by creating a database and templates for the drivers license...(ordinarily,the drivers license was formally issued by the state government agency called VIO).

WHATS OBTAINABLE
due to the problem of corruption bewildering the ountry as a whole,the whole process has been ridiculed,eg
1.driving test is rarely done @ any drivers license center
2.candidates not wanting to appear physically for the biodata,and instead prefers to bribe through the process
3.permanent driving license taking months or years to get.
4.unnecessary accumulation of backlog on the part of the capturing office

Please do you people look out for specific things when stopping a vehicle or vehicles are stopped at random.

And are there hints/tricks to avoid being stopped by either vio or road safety

To avoid being stopped,make sure that you put your vehicle in good condition,renew your documents as at when due and make sure you drive with a genuine drivers licence.
And lastly, be friendly and smile a lot( a simple "officer how is work" can save you from stress even if you have any of your papers expired)

Though I did the license in proxy (absent), but it has all the necessary security attached to it and have used it severally in the past before it expired.

Well, I was thinking the new website or database might not capture the old license (2008), not withstanding, I will go to the office and see things for myself.

Seeing the coat of arm/ FRSC logo on a drivers licence is not enough reason to conclude its authenticity, a rule of thumb that will guide you is to make sure you have passed through the required test and not getting it by proxy.

If you cannot get your informations online after providing all neccessary informations, then the license with you might not be geniune,pls visit the nearest office as said for a new license
