Is like you are mixing things up. Serpentine belt is another name for auxiliary belt: belt that drives Alternator, PAS pump and A/C compressor pulleys via Crankshaft pulley.

Only failed Timing belt would cause such damage that would require such repair in the engine. So, which of the belt failed?

At OP. You may have to buy a new engine block. The overheating probably warped the cylinder head (the piston broke) or even cracked the block. They let the car run for too long after the belt ripped.

Sorry dude but i would recommend a new block

I think most people dont understand the aim of this thread. The question was What Car Speed Can You Comfortably Maintain?. Not The maximum speed you can drive. Who can be comfort able at over 180 KMPH? I wouldn't call myself a wussy but that speed and the state of Nigerian roads you are really pushing your luck there. And where are the RELIABLE Insurance and Medical services when you need them?

I would say 50mph to 60mph range. Its alot easier for me to control my car at that speed and my MPG is wonderful (28MPG not bad for an 04 murano running on 89 to 92 octane)

For highways, 73 to 80 mph. I am not Comfortable at speed over 100mph (I break sweat and my heart races). I dont need an adrenaline rush from a high way with people driving like morons. I rather do it on a race track or a roller coaster. (You can exprience as much as 3G on a roller coaster )

elektra80: German cars are ahead in technology, I agree... But for for a 14 year old car? I don't think the issue of being ahead should be considered for a 14 year old car. Lets take a example.

A 1999 Toyota Camry xle vs 1999 Mercedes Benz e320. Both are 14 years old and in the same class. The Camry at production is priced at $25,000 while the Benz is priced at $49,000. That is twice the price of the Camry. Now fast forward 14 years and say like 200k mileage. The Camry still sells for approximately $4,500 while the Benz sells for about the same price. Even some 1999 Benz e320 of 200k + miles sell at a cheaper price than the Camry which sells for half the price of the Benz at production.

Dude Never compare a Camry to an E class . They are not in the same category in price or class. The Camry is a "regular car" and an E class is a Luxury car. You can compare a Lexus with a Benz (A lot realistic)

In my earlier post i was given my on personal opinion and i think the cost of parts is the major deterrent to buying German cars with over 100k miles.And if you doubt it check the cost of struts, bearings and general suspension stuffs (things that are likely to fall apart over 100k miles) and you would understand my point.

From my research (My personal opinion shouldn't be taken seriously), Replacement parts for most German cars cos more because they are made in Germany with high labor cost. Second had owners would rather pay less for replacement parts on a 130k mile car

German car makers are 3 years ahead in car technology, Making most mechanics scared to work on them and the few that can would ask for a lot.

Aisin( Honda in house transmission company ) makes transmissions for Honda. In my years working in an Autoshop in canada , 80% of transmission replacement we work on is mostly Honda. They moved over to CVT which is good news and moreover , you can squeeze out more MPG from a CVT than a regular transmission. I don't know how reliable their CVT are cus it's just being few years out, only time will tell.

Aisin is not own by Honda. They are an Independent transmission company and make transmission for a lot of car companies like Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda and VW. Honda produces MOST of the transmission in their cars. And if you know a lot about Nissan Jatco would ring a bell and if you drive a Benz you would notice Mahle GmbH and Siemens stamped on some parts.

Say what you know stop putting out wrong info.

I'm pretty sure Henry has learned the hard way, and won't repeat this in future.

My advice remains the same - get the correct engine fitted - assuming it's still possible. The "mechanic" could well have chopped up the original engine harness, chopped the chassis / front subframe to make the alen installation "fit." Making the process almost irreversible.

If this is the case, then it's probably best Henry sells his Dodge off as it stands, and cut his losses. Spending more on it, in my humble opinion is akin to throwing good money onto a bonfire, and watching it burn.

As we can all see the OP is in regret, making fun of him is not constructive and that won't help his morale. I guess the idea of this forum was to give USEFUL advice.

There are other factors that determine the reliability of a car. Everything being equal, i will take the altima any day.

First of all you need to learn and apply the term called humility
Second you said honda "can never build a reliable transmission". Like you know the future of the car company. Do you even know how a transmission works?

Thirdly you dont even know when honda switched the accord transmission to a CVT.

And lastly you dont have a singe idea how a CVT works. If you knew you would be saying all this.

Judging from the guy in-front of the car and the bag under the car she is a small lady.

If you know how to use a map scale you would notice the bag height is the same length from her ankle to her upper thigh. She's less than 5ft.

Change Petrol/Gas station, If symptoms persist change your Catalytic converter (or indomine as its called in Nigeria)

Its normal if you don't have a check engine light on. It is suppose to warm up your car Quick (similar to a choke) so the engine can quickly reach the optimal operation temperature.Most injectors have this function

Its a problem if the RPM doesn't drop to between 500RPM-800RPM (Depends on the car) in about 5 mins.

Costee: Infiniti G35 Sedan is 0-60 mph 6.1; BMW X5 4.8i is 0-60 mph 6.0. Personally I don't reckon with Toyota and Honda as fast cars when the chips are down.

- But I noticed that every 3-5 days, my water level goes down and if i don't top-up my temp goes above half!

Really you use water? I would advice/advise Coolant. Its cheaper in the long run (considering the cost of a new water pump and flushing your radiator)

Siena: My choice would be the Nissan Altima. I'm not really a Toyota or Honda fan, they're simply mass-produced Japmobile.

How is Nissan any different? Everyone cant be a "German car" fan.
Toyota is the 3 largest automobile manufacturer and Honda makes the most Internal combustion engines(measured by volume), That's not an easy feat, especially with the fact the big American 3 had over 30 years head start over these guys and now they are rivals. You need to give them their deserved respect.

You don't just re-bore cause you have a bent cylinder, piston or conrod
People re-bore for different reasons. In the past when engine were expensive and fuel efficiency wasn't much of a deal, re-boring was a good option. These days with high oil prices and environmental regulations, its not worth the stress.

If you re-bore you need a bigger piston and rings(to match the new bore with a low tolerance), and that may also affect your conrod length(if you are concerned about your compression ratio).Also you may have to change crank shaft(and sometimes grind) and crank bearing.

These days street racers and guys that rice their cars are the ones who MOSTLY re-bore their engines. Most times is to get a compression ratio to give them a torque advantage.(as torque is the main factor in acceleration). Their car most times do not pass a standard emission test.

I would advice a flush before you make changes to the pump

Farayolas: first & foremost go to a reputable shop or filling station for checks on ur wheel alignment and wheel balancing before u change anything.

ONLY WHEN HE PUTS IT IN REVERSE. So in neutral or Drive he is Good.
The fly wheel and clutch disc are not aligned. Probably shifts cause of a different motion (reverse Gear)

Dude thats a lot of oil in one week, I am sure you smell of burnt oil after every trip.(Try smelling your clothes)

You need to get this fixed soon cause VIO/Police would be collecting "chop money from you"

Don't know the price of a used engine in Nigeria , but fitting new rings MAY NOT solve the problem.
I know a friend that fitted in new rings on his 96 accord(It was an F22 B Engine, Yours is K24 aka I-VTEC), but 6 months later it continued smoking
He ended up selling his car after fitting another new set of rings.
The mech said the rings in the market were all made in china and were of low quality.

I would say get a new engine, but you still cant be sure of these used engines.
