ayo jango: For 2days now,My 01 accord (babyboy) temperature rises as soon as I start the car. Also when I turn off the ignition, one of the fans keeps rolling until I remove the battery head.If you say "as soon as you start your car" then is either you have 1. Faulty temperature sensor 2. You don't have a single drop of oil and/or coolant or 3. Bad gasket(less likely) Get it checked out |
fizzybaba: My honda Crv 2005 Engine has gone completely badYou buy oil every week? 3k i guess is one gallon.why? How? For what? You got to be kidding me #facepalm Another mugu in the hands of the mechanic |
charliemamen: hello,Check your Control arm(upper arm) and your tie rods(inner and outer). Had similar problems with mine some few years back and had them changed and it stopped. the steering shakes when im cruising, i dont like this and i will like to know the best way to get it rectified. After the changes tell the mech to have the wheel balanced and the alignment checked. Also, this car vibrates whenever i place the gear on reverse, it vibrates(its an automatic transmission car). Not sure what is causing this problem, But it sounds like your engine mounts(Engine seats. |
eddy42k: thanks iccman but had no issue ever since but why the coolant? cos its been waterRead this link https://www.nairaland.com/973050/radiator-cover-wont-work#11254632 Check your gasket first, if its good then go for a flush and please use coolant |
If you are using water please change to coolant. I don't advice removing your "thermostat" |
Nice info please more of that so we can keep people informed Also you also have similar symptoms if you have a bad control arm (Upper and/or Lower) |
DUDE CLICK ON THE LINK AND READ THE THREAD BELOW https://www.nairaland.com/943602/benefits-using-coolants-versus-water#11147713 You are leas than one month away from a new radiator, water pump and possibly a new engine. Your car manual says Use a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze(coolant) So why are you using only water? Ever radiator cap is pressure rated (mine is 10psi). You bought a cap that is lower rated than the OEM radiator cap of that engine The cooling system is kinda complex to explain but i can try my best to Educate you and you have to be imaginative Water would boil at lees than 100 Celsius (causer its impure) and its boiling produces gasses like water vapor and gasses dissolved in water(air etc) Gas expansion is ALMOST exponential like at that temperature range (Google Gas expansion by heat and PVT Graphs) This expansion causes pressure build up in your cooling system(A closed system)and when it reaches 5psi(Lets say your rad cover is rated that), It squeezes the spring on your radiator cover up and fluid escapes through the tinny opening by the side of the cover(Flow back line) and flows into the white(the colour most times) reservoir. and when the reservoir is full, it gives way and spills (he is the weakest man in the closed system). That's why "Your water dey short" When your car cools down, You get a low pressure in the system which causes a suction from the reservoir ie. the water suppose to flow from the reservoir back to the radiator, but it doesn't cause the system is design for a antifreeze/coolant. The reason for that is another whole new complex topic that i dont wana go into (i hope you don't mind) If you block the flow-back line (eliminate the weakest link) the next weakest link which is your water hose would rupture. But since your car is not new, you cant be sure if its your hose, radiator, water pump, or engine block is the 2nd weakest link. If you decide to block your flow back line, i promise you would be going through engines faster than you go through toothbrushes(Doc says we have to change our toothbrush every 3 months), and in 2 years your Mech would be driving a 2012 Accord. He may probably buy your 05 accord and advice you to buy a new car. He is getting 2 cars for the price of one. Maga fall guy man chop. LOL. Please don't take my last 3 sentences seriously my post was getting boring so i added a joke. In summary 1. Change to Coolant 2. By an OEM Rad Cover 3. Get your reservoir inspected 4. Avoid High RPM it saves fuel and prevents over heating When you solve the problem do post it so others can learn Thanks ICEMANN |
I still believe its you need a tune up. Can you try this, Buy a good injector cleaner and put in your tank ( half a tank if fuel is ok) Idle for 30mins and see if it is still giving problems Injector cleaners are about 400 to 700 Naira, Lets see what happens next |
edakedkay: She's my bestest friend. We've been friends since secondary school and her guy was my classmate in nursery school.Read the First 3 lines and i Knew this was BULL SHITT I dont comment on romance stories but this one is TOO lame and stupid You are 29 he is 31 that means when you were 3 he was 5 YEARS IN NURSERY SCHOOL Its either 2 things, 1. You are lying or 2. The guy is reetarded And if the guy is retarded then you don't need a Babalawo or a Priest to tell you what to do. And for posting this kinda crap it means you are also REETARDED. WTF |
Made by the same parent company but there is a lot of difference under the hood Transmission: Murano=CVT, FX35= 6speed('03-'08, 7speed(09-now) Engine : Murano=3.5L, FX35= 3.5L(same as Murano) Rims: Murano=18inch, FX35= 18inch('03-'08, 18inch or20"(09-Now Fuel Economy 18city/23high FX35= 18/23 (Same fuel Economy) Other differences includes Bluetooth, backup camera, Sat navigation, Tire pressure monitor system,6cd changer etc are optional in a murano but standard in the FX. Murano comes in Front wheel drive(FWD) and All wheel drive(AWD), Fx 35 comes in AWD, and rear wheel drive Both use Premium fuel(octane 93+) not sold in nigeria I drive a Murano SL AWD 3.5L. Selling it soon for a 2006-08 FX35. After i drove an 07 Fx35, 10FX35 and FX50 i became an Infinity believer, Excellent acceleration from the FX50 it felt like i was sucked into the seats.I felt the G-Force(Not the cartoon oh!!).I hear the M56 is a beast 460hp, 0-60 in <6 seconds Overall The FX is a faster(acceleration wise), a better built brand than murano and its also a LUXURY brand like Benz, BMW, Lexus and Acura |
Ikenna351: I dont recall ever reading that Lion is the fastest animal on Earth. But the STRENGTH of the animal, LION, can never be compared to other animals. Thats what Peugeot brings out in all their products, especially, their earlier RWD productions. Even 406, one of their newer productions, but with FWD configuration, still retained the Lion's strength. Ever taken out time to check out their looks? Even 406 has been nicknamed "FOX". Ever wondered why that name? STRENGHT! Also, we all know how rugged a Lion is when pursuing its anu ori-ori (prey). Thats what these Peugeots (504,505 & 406) do when on our death traps called highways.I agree Power doesn't win a race but, You should consider power to weight ratio and like you said the handling of a car. Porsche has mastered the art of putting a Turbocharged V6 on a light weight chassis and they perform well at bends. Even if you can zoom past a Porsche in a straight line they will zoom past you at EVERY BEND You do not own a Porsche and i would not advice you to use your 505 to race a BMW 330i E46.Its sure gonna be a funny sight. Its like BRING A SWORD TO A GUN FIGHT. YOU WOULD GET SHOT BEFORE YOUR SWORD COME OUT OF ITS SHEATH. Save your self the embarrassment. |
steffans: Car Gurus...i know we have dealt with Honda cars and gear boxes...Pls can someone help me outA good drink,i love Hennessy V.S and V.S.O.P, especially Taking it mixed with coke and ice (Shaken not stirred) But if you are referring to Honda Odyssey the car, then i think i know what the problem is Your engine is losing power. First go for a tune up Tell your Mech to check the spark plugs, air filter, injector nozzles and the vacuum hose The thing you are describing is called Gear hunting. Your ECU is getting conflicting data from various sensors You are not producing enough Torque for a gear change and your speed is high enough to change to the next gear To satisfy all conditions for a gear change it revs up to produce the minimum required torque and then you get the gear change Do a tune up as soon as possible. This Gear Hunting causes your engine to heat up and can fry your Gear Box. I can bet your Fuel consumption is up DO post a reply if it works out so others can learn |

Denn: Dear Ikenna, I look forward to that day too when i will be able to show you that lions are now extinct on Nigerian roads. In order not to 'over-embarass' your old lion, i will be coming in a simple BMW 330i E46. After the spanking (i prefer not to call it a race since its a clear win for me), i will be all ready to convert you to the BMW religion. lol....on a serious note, we can do this in Nigeria. thumbs up allFunniest comment yet ![]() |
Ask your mechanic if he is smarter than the Toyota Engineers that made the car and put the check engine light If he says he is (which i doubt he is) Tell him to start building his own cars |
sigmundfreud: no mind them...i gbadun u joor!LOL, I know they were all joking ![]() |
mattaz: Plz haus,How do you know your car is a fuel guzzler? Did you compare it to the company posted fuel consumption? How long has this your "unusually gulping fuel" been going on? Have you noticed any thing different about your car since this started? Your question is very Vague and i think you need to give more details on your car problems. House, increase in fuel consumption can be caused by a lot of things and some can not be detected by a computer scan Just because you don't see a check engine light doesn't mean the car is ok. faulty check light wouldn't detect some engine problems Faulty bearings, low tire pressure, Binding breaks etc are some things that can cause high fuel consumption and cannot be detected by A 2006 corolla (I have driven one) |
I believe water causes metal to rust. Even if its an aluminium block your radiator is made from iron some times and some others copper. The boiling point of Clean water(H20) is 100 degrees Celsius or 212f, With all the salts like Magnesium, calcium and chlorine(in tap water) you can have it boil at less than 85 celcius. These salts deposit after after long use of water( same whitish stuff you seee at the bottom of kettles)and the deposits clog your cooling lines and stresses the water pump. As water boils it expands and also releases gases dissolved in it.Gas expansion due to heat is way more than liquid expansion. Your car cooling system is a close system and this expansion causes pressure build up. At some point some thing has to give way, either the water pump, hose, or radiator. Coolant is made up of mainly TEG ( Tri ethylene glycol) and silicates. TEG has a boiling point above 320f and low expansion due to heat. New cars have a shuf off system that would tun off the engine when temp rises above a certain point. Pls do not use water if you want your engine to last long |
I have the same prob but i cant send my Murano all the way to Naija for repairs. whats the secrete bro? |
V8 engines tend do be larger in capacity therefore have a tendency to use up more fuel. They also produce more Torque/Energy/HP(or BHP) compared to a V6 of similar individual piston size. Fuel consumption largely depends on the tuning of the car and the driving habits. jack-rabbiting starts doesn't give good gas mileage, same goes for a very slow acceleration For me, the choice of engine depends on its primary use. For a 8 to 5 person, an I4 would do the job and a full size/family size V6 sedan would be nice for a family of 5 or less,or you could consider a compact or midsize SUV with a V6 putting into consideration family errands and trips during the festive periods. The V8 engine is commonly seen in luxury sedans, full size SUVs, Pickups/Trucks and sports cars. MOST V8 are high performance cars and require high octane petrol (93+) therefore it is not a "struggling mans car". These days Luxury cars and sports cars are built with a lot of sensors and require a complete computer scan to detect any problem. i Think there is a lack of a competent V8 Mech and parts in Nigeria A more detailed answer is to your questions Fuel Consumption: City = V6 is lower, Highway = V6 is lower, but an Aerodynamic V8 would give you good gas mileage Drag is a major energy loss factor at high speeds Engine Capability: Like i said more Torque/HP from the V8. Maintenance : If its the same type of car, i guess the difference is minimal. E.G. FX35 and FX45/50, Toyota Land Cruiser V6 and V8. Unless a factory fault For the Adrenaline rush, i would say go for a V8 |
It will be a nice idea to make a version with vibrating seats, and not for females ![]() |

I did a tune up last week and every thing is running fine no tranny slips The mech warned me on not to use any thing other than PREMIUM GASOLINE. I suspect it was a gas station that sold regular in the premium tank Do a tune up and see if you notice any changes |
I had similar problems on a Nissan CVT. And i found out this same problem was consistent with The first generation Nissan CVT transmission. Mine always happen at mid day when the sun is up and my engine is hot Some people say its an Error in the transmission ECU, others Say the transmission valve body is bad and the rest say It is fried I will advice 1. Disconnect battery terminals for 20 mins to reset the ECU and see if it stops 2. If it continues try flushing the Trans fluid 3. I know most people changed their transmission valve body and it stopped i haven't done mine yet but would update if i do |
Wallie:Let me make it a lot easier for you to answer 1. Will My traction change if i raise my car? how and why? 2. can my current wheel base give me a good center of gravity when its raised, and what do i do to compensate for the Center of Gravity changes? 3. Will a wider tire give me more traction even at bends, do i experience Energy losses due to increased friction/ contact surface? 4. Will my New axle angle have an effect on my CV joint or drive shaft or rear axle? ( which ever case it is) 5. If a lift is bad for a car, why do people do it. And why hasn't the Govt done any thing to stop them, after all they are a risk to other road users I just wana Know the different opinion from the Pros here |
Siena:Traction control Kicks in. And you don't roll over ![]() ![]() That was a joke LOL |
Yet to hear someone say stuff about 1.Traction 2.Base width 3.Tire width 4. Axle Angle In relation to a lift. |
@ Poster I find it very difficult to understand what you are talking about, How did you get a 292 in JAMB and you cannot compose a comprehensible sentences with correct spellings? |
Nice one, wish you the best and do keep us updated. Em bros when you say "Jeep" Do you mean the Chrysler Jeep (Cherokee, Wrangler, Liberty etc) or what some Nigerians call a "jeep"? I used to do my oil change but since i learnt the fines that comes with oil spills, i calm down ( to me its not worth the hassle). I go follow your thread well. Pls more pics |
