11. Super Eagles Goal of the Year: Nominees: Ahmed Musa 1st Goal against Iceland,Samuel Kalu 4th goal against Libya, Ahmed Musa 2nd Goal against Iceland.
Do you mean the goal that made it 3:2? If yes, that goal got 3 nominations while Samuel Kalu's goal against Libya got 4. So both Musa's goals against Iceland and Kalu's goal against Libya got selected. |

BascoVanVeli: When Rohr got appointed our coach the NPFL allstar team went on a tour of Spain where they played teams like Malaga and Atletico Madrid. Ezenwa was the best player at this tour making save after save. He got a standing ovation against Madrid. Rohr was watching those games and he fell in love with the keeper and the rest as they say is history. Ezenwa is the closest we have to Vincent Enyeama, he is a frustrater of strikers. I could have bet my money that if Percy Tau had gone for a shot instead of that assist Ezenwa would have stuffed him. My advice to the player is to take his talent abroad. The calls have been interfering with his club place for years and that can be avoided if he goes to the right country. Wonderful post. You see, coaches' choice of players do differ. Rohr has seen Ezenw in the national colors to keep inviting him to the national team irrespective of the fact that he is not first choice at Enyimba. To me Ezenwa is the most reliable back up goalie since after the exit of Ejide and Ayenugba. Look at all the WCQ qualifying games he kept goal and the SA game. People often say he was lucky not to be much exposed. But I once pointed out that goal keeping is not only about making saves, being able to organize your defense is also a factor which is where I rated Dele Ajiboye poorly. Notice that Ezenwa hardly makes saves in games but that is not so for Ajiboye who virtually stands on the goal line and be making saves and conceding in the process. If u think Ezenwa didn't face strong oppositions u need to go back and recall that he kept goal in the Cameroon double header, against Zambia in Uyo and against Algeria in Blida. And again against SA in Johannesburg. He didn't concede more than 1 goal in all the games and kept 2 clean sheets. The 2 goals he conceded in the WCQ were from penalties. For now Ezenwa will still remain Rohr's trusted backup goalie. |

charlesemeka85: 19 year old Nigerian midfielder Kingsley Michael was for the fourth time in 12 games for Perugia voted as Man of the Match as they battle to a precious away point against Lecce in the Serie B.
Second placed Lecce came into the fixture needing a win to close the gap on league leaders Palermo but failed to break down a very resilient Perugia side who had their Nigerian midfielder Michael in full flight.
He dominated the midfield duels and nullified most of their threats from the midfield and in the end picked up his fourth man of the match accolades in addition to the ones he picked for his performance against Cozenza, Padova and Crotone.
Already talks are on about a possible recall by his loan club Bologna in January as the club are currently stuck in the drop zone in 18th position on the 20 team Serie A table with just 11 points from 15 games played so far.
Michael spent the summer with the main team during pre season and he was heavily tipped for a spot in the team during the league proper but he was later loaned out just before the start of the season. Another candidate for Aigbogun's U20. |

elyte89: Well,I can't really get ur message, but what am trying to say is,prized asset or not,a new change of manager in a team can affect any player chances in a starting line up aside dis two(MESSI AND C.RONALDO),like what boss icon4s said,he has to convince d new coach,if he doesn't convince d new coach y he shld start ahead of his competitors in his role, his game time would b limited,he hasn't reached d playing level where he doesnt have to convince d new coach b4 cementing his place.
Anoda example is nacho, despite holding a fearsome record as d best player in europe in terms of goals per minute ratio on d pitch at city, what happened afterwards when guardiola came in?,his playing time reduced, later sterling was used as a false 9 leading to total romance on d bench, afterwards, G.Jesus was bought,wc nailed his final chance at city and was later sold.Ordinarily, with such record he held b4 guardiola came in,everybody tot he would be more clinical and ruthless in front of goal due to guardiola playing style, but as times goes on,we found out dt,he couldn't fit into d coach style Supported whole heartedly without any Iota of emotive bias or negative prejudice. |

So y add success name with iheanacho? Or re u afraid to mention nacho name alone because of his conc supporters here , as for me,wout mincing d truth,I think Iheanacho is d only player I feel he has no biz with d national team at d moment except he ups his game like u rightly said
And as for tbaba question,so many can replace nacho,..d likes of success, osimhen, odey, and all oda potential players we have whom av not been given a good game time can replace him That is always the problem here on this thread. You have not given them game time yet u have concluded they can replace him. That aside, those 3 players cannot compete with Iheanacho because of the kind of roles Iheanacho plays for the SE: Lone striker, SS, and behind the striker. Osimhen and Odey can only play CF. Iheanacho kind of player will hardly be thrown out from the kind of SE team we have currently even though he starts more from the bench. |

Icon4s: NAIRALAND NIGERIAN FOOTBALL AWARDS!
A good and blessed Morning House.
We have all analyzed football here for a couple of years now. We have tasted the joys of victory and agonies of defeat from different competitions we have participated in. And each one we have come out better as we have always learnt one, two or more lessons.
Believe it or not we have here in the house some of the best followers and analysts of Nigerian football. Forget that we argue all the time, but these arguments generally have yielded fruits in certain areas and our national teams have gotten better for it.
DON'T WE THINK IT IS TIME WE STARTED ROLLING OUT AWARDS, IN VARIOUS CATEGORIES, TO WELL DESERVING NIGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM FOOTBALLERS?
Now this is just a suggestion.
If a larger part of the house agree, we go ahead and set up a players selection committee which will be saddled with the responsibly of: 1. Coming up with various award categories eg: Most improved player in 2018, best Nigerian goal in 2018, Most impressive new inclusion, Best young player (U20 and U17), Best SE Goal keeper 2018, Nigerian Player of the year, best Super Falcons player etc. 2. Nominating players for the various award categories selected above (Maximum of 3 for each category). Note that criteria for the selection of these players must be spelt out. 3. Collating and announcing of results after the votings.
How do we come up with who and who will make up the Players' Selection committee? I would suggest a 3 Man (or woman ) Committee. The house will have to suggest monikers. Every member of this thread or even visitors would have to nominate one person he or she feels should be a member of this committee. Note that you cannot nominate your self and you cannot nominate more than 1 person. 3 monikers with the highest number of nominations will form the players selection committee.
If we agree, we can set 1 week period for which we can suggest names for the selection committee and the selection committee will have to start work immediately after the Nigeria vs Uganda friendly. So that the voting process will commence first week in December.
At the end of the exercise a thread will be created to publish the names of awardees and mods called upon to take to front page or we may even take it to the sports sections of major News Papers in Nigeria.
Note again that it is just a suggestion and open to more ideas and suggestions.
The simple thing to do for a start is if you agree you click "like" and if you do not agree you click ''share''.

Joebie: Icon4s if I’m going to join u in counting the final votes, we will need to enforce the rule that all votes be done in one single post. Modifications only are permitted before the deadline day/time. It was a problem tallying our votes here, talk less of hundreds of monikers in our parent thread.
Modified We would only count that single post, anything else would be ignored. My opinion though. U are definitely going to be part of the votes counting. Due to a foreseeable large number of votes we all are likely going to be part of the counting. We will split it into sections. Like Mr A will count votes from page1, B will count page 2 etc. Then again 1 or 2 persons collate. We will also make the voting process less combasome. Like Eg: 9. Young player of the Year award: a. Samuel Chukwueze b. Samuel Kalu c. Franscis Uzoho. They only only have to do: 1.a 2.b 3.c 4.a 5.b. Etc.... The easier the voting method the more people will want to be part of it. safarigirl: they are better because they have won more games and achieved more.
Or, what would the statistics tell you? Or is this award not based on play?
BTW: Is Iwobi a midfielder or an attacker? Because I listed him as an attacker and some of you are listing him as a midfielder and you didn't make any corrections regarding that
I have never seen Iwobi's name listed as a midfielder since Rohr became Super Eagles coach, even though he slips in there at times, generally when the lists are released, he is under "Attack" so, I am confused here. What position does he play?
And is it right to list him as both? Iwobi is an Attacking Midfielder. You can categorise him as either a Midfielder or an Attacker. I listed him as an Attacker some others listed him among Midfielders. Any one is ok. |

daveP: International journalists are calling our group Group of death. None of the two groups look good to me.
If Dennerby wants to qualify from that group, he should focus on making that midfield a diamond mine. Too uncoordinated and predictable. Making the mid-field whether Diamond or Rhombus will not make any difference if the players are lacking in ability. I am not looking forward to that competition at all. |
