paulos8: If South Africa host it. Then the final qualifier match with Libya won't matter.... Libya won't be in afcon Yeah that's true. Infact it is wisdom to allow hosts take part in qualifiers. At least now Cameroon can still participate even though they are no longer hosts. But Libya then should encourage their North African neighbors to take the hosting right issue seriously. |

BascoVanVeli: Sorry but it makes zero sense. This woman was the woman of the match in the finals, she already won one against Zambia in a match that was absolutely crucial to our qualifying from the group. She was the best offensive player in the best team of the competition I just don't get why she didn't make it. Ordega deserve to be in that starting 11. She is better than that Cameroonian Nguene girl and even that Basira of Mali. Ordega was always playing close to the sidelines which is closer to where we stood so I saw her at very close range. Her football sense was Phenomenal. Awesome to watch. Shes always one step ahead of her marker such that with her first touch alone her marker was always behind her. And she is a very direct kind of player, always running into dangerous areas. She was the most popular name in the stands last night. |

The AWCON is over now.
For those who have not nominated please include your 3 Super Falcons nominees.
For those who have already nominated please go back to ur earlier nominations post and update the Super Falcons Player of the year section.(the nominations started from page 3)
And please our time is running out. We still need to collate these nominations and vote to break ties where they arise. We would not want to assign a deadline yet because of the perculiarity of our activities outside of here. But time will come that we assign a time, collate those who have responded and move on. We still need to organize a general poll for all nairalanders. No time please.

ChrisKels: Ordega did good, buh, Onome was class. As dangerous as Kgatlana was Onome pocketed her with ease until she ran away to operate from a different wing(mainly the midfield) and that was when she became a bit visible. Most part of the game, Onome was walking over her.
Another player that was phenomenal is Ebere the left back. Gush I love her left foot.
I sha wonder how Ihezuo made this team. That girl was crap Onome Ebi is my pick over Ordega. Onome was consistently churning out A+ performances all tournament. Ordega wasnt consistent. Her best games were against Zambia and tonight's final. She was piss poor against Cameroon. Another girl that performed tonight was Ngozi Okobi. The goal Keeper, Tochukwu Oluehi, also was pure class all tournament. |

BascoVanVeli: The conspiracy theorists in me says that this was the plan from the beginning. We all knew that Cameroon wouldn't meet up but we were just hoping on a miracle I think the CAF President increased it to increase the Southern and Eastern countries' chances of participation. Me think the 16 team format is still ok for now. Africa is not ready for a 24 team AFCON. Alternatively the AFCON should be once 4 years. |

BascoVanVeli: Tbh I don't know who is interested or not but I think SA is a no brainer. They are the only country in the continent that has ever hosted that many countries and their facilities are still in good condition I raised eyebrows when CAF increased the number of teams to 24. For CAF to cope with this format they have to make the AFCON once in 4yrs. This will allow enough time for hosting countries to put their facilities together. With this format of 24 teams and 6 venues and AFCON once in 2yrs CAF will continue to withdraw hosting rights. BTW who is to host the 2021 AFCON? Have they commenced preparations? Can they put up 6 venues within a short time? CAF needs to either revert to 16 teams hence 4 venues or alternatively maintain the 24 teams but make the tournament every 4yrs. |

forgiveness: This should be a democratic process and not autocratic process but from the look of things you are trying to enforce your opinion. It's not acceptable.
I insist Eze is qualified until we arrive at a consensus that says otherwise through vote. Thank you. There is nothing autocratic about this. Joebie brought this Eze's case to my consciousness and with the explanation I bought into it. It is just common sense. You like dragging issues unnecessarily. 4 out of 7 members have made their complete nominations and they left Eze out of it because he is no longer home Based. Call for voting now and for days we will be calling on u guys to come and vote on top Eze's issues. We have more potentially important Votes to make to break potential ties in the nominations. And that will also be time consuming. The earlier we send in our list of nominees the earlier we finish this work. Put Eze in your list if you want to and let's move on please. |

safarigirl: we cannot step up and host anything. We could barely organise African Athletics Competition, how much more AFCON?
How many of our stadiums are up to standard and how many will be up to standard by June?
We have elections coming in February, you think anybody will have time for AFCON organisation during election period in Nigeria? Aside that, Dalung and Pinnick are still having their cold war, do you think we can successfully organise such a competition in the middle of that war? Bear in mind, the stadiums are government property and not NFFproperty, you will need government approval before you go to CAF to drop proposal. Which government will answer anybody by next year?
We cannot host AFCON in an election year and we don't need to host it. Make our players go enjoy other people country.
Let SA host it, after all, they are going to need that AFCON 2019 ticket after Libya knocks them out of contention in March Agreed without any iota of Emotive bias and sentiments. |

krattoss: morroco could have been a good option but they always claims superiority over African matters. They ain't in African union, last time it wagivem to them, they back pedaled citing ebola as the Case.
South Africa has overhosted it.. They may still pull a fast one, taking to cognizance that they aren't sure of qualifying against Libya.
Egypt battles struggles with rebels and isis. They ve played most of their matches in burj El Arab Cairo.
Algeria can't boast of any single roofed stadium. All their stadias I have watched are all roofless, coupled with little capacity.
Gabon hosted it last, giving it to them again is odd and a slap in the face to the African nation.
Nigeria can boast of stadium infrastructures that needs little touch to get into fine shape before the Mundial, but we face election next year. Maybe it's time to show the the world we re giants of Africa after all. But maybe too much politics and Shananigans might be a hindrance to this dream and fantasy. "Joint hosting" could be the way out. |

tbaba1234: 1. Replace Stephen Eze with Theophilus Afelokhai for his continental performance 2. This drastically reduces the options.Chukwueze and Ebere Eze (If not allowed, Osimhen) Note that for Theophilus his club performances do not count here . But we can accept him because he played in the Athletico friendly. Ebere Eze not elligible. So I take Uzoho, Chukwueze and Osimhen for this category from you then. |

tbaba1234: Man, i have been so busy.. Alright, let me do it all now. I will change some of the ones i did before
1. Nigerian Player of the Year a. Ahmed Musa b. Alex Iwobi c. Wilfred Ndidi
2. Nigerian Home based player of the year a. Ezenwa b. Lokosa c. Stephen Eze
3. Most impactful New Inclusion (2018) a. Uzoho b. Ebuehi c. Idowu
4. Best Goalkeeper (Best Ogedengbe Award) a. Uzoho b. Ezenwa c. Ajiboye (i don't think Akpeyi played a game until Uganda, Ajiboye played in CHAN)
5. Best Defender (Stephen Keshi Award) a. Ekong b. Balogun c. Ebuehi
6. Best Midfielder (Oliha/Okwaraji Award) a. Ndidi b. Mikel Obi c. Etebo
7. Best Attacker (Rashidi Yekini Award) a. Victor Moses b. Alex Iwobi c. Ahmed Musa
8. Most improved player (2018) a. Iwobi b. Uzoho c. Ighalo
9. Young Player of the Year a. Ebuehi b. Iwobi c. Uzoho
10. Super Falcons player of the year a. Oshoala b. Ordega c. Oparanozie (not much to base this on, Ajibade deserves a mention from the youth team)
11. Super Eagles Goal of the Year. a. Musa 1st goal vs Iceland b. Musa 2nd goal vs Iceland c. Ighalo winning goal vs Libya Thanks for finding time. Observations: 1. Stephen Eze is no longer a home based player can he as a Foreign based player receive a "Home based player award"? 2. The young player award is for players who are 21 and below. So it means Ebuehi and Iwobi, who are both 22 are not eligible. |

Now they have lost 1 nil away, they are in a more precarious situation when they play at home in a fortnight because for each goal they concede at home, they will need to score 3.
NPFL teams at the qualifying knock-out rounds of any CAF competition should be ruthless regardless of our Oppositions.
