Cc Icon4s , Chriskels , forgiveness , komekn , tbaba1234 , safarigirl Ok well done. Today is Sunday will be much busy during a large of the day. The only nominations I have not captured yet is that of safari. Later this evening I will post my own collation and we decide on those that are tied. |
Sports › Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(op): 5:22am On Dec 09, 2018 |
safarigirl: Considering that in Nigeria, the female players are easily better than the male players and even in a head to head, the females would easily be better than the males, I could see how joining the awards for both teams would make the male team look as disgraceful as they actually are.
I have sha modified.
PS: Just because it is the norm doesn't make it right and it certainly doesn't mean that it cannot be altered. It was once the norm that women don't vote, but someone changed it. There is no way some of the Super Falcons players are better than the Super Eagles players. You can say the women win more matches than the men. Yes, but not that they are better and now be nominated amongst the male players. If you want to know how weak that Super Falcons team is compared to the SE let them go and play the Golden Eaglets team. |

3. Most Impactful New Inclusion- Jamilu Collins, Samuel Kalu, Henry Onyekuru
4. Best Goalkeeper- Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Francis Uzoho (considering Akpeyi is genuinely useless, I do not see the sense in nominating him, and there is no one else left, so......)
5. Best Defender- William Troost-Ekong, Tyrone Ebuehi, Leon Balogun
6. Best midfielder- Wilfred Ndidi, John Obi Mikel, John Ogu
7. Best Attacker- Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo
8. Most Improved Player- Odion Ighalo,
9. Young Player of the Year- Samuel Kalu, Francis Uzoho, Samuel Chukwueze
10. Super Falcons Player of the Year- Tochukwu Oluehi, Francisca Ordega, Rita Chikwelu
11. Super Eagles Goal of the Year- Samuel Kalu's goal against Libya, Ahmed Musa (second goal against Iceland), Troost-Ekong's goal (vs DRC) Item 3, Henry Onyekuru made his debute in 2017. Aside the two u have already mentioned let me help u with others so u chose 1 from them: Simeon Nwankwo, Kelechi Nwakali, Semi Ajayi Item 4, if You don't want to pick Akpeyi u can pick Ajiboye or Afelokhai. That 3rd nomination position must be filled. Item8, you only named Ighalo, again u need 3 nominees. |

safarigirl: it is quite unfair to remove the Falcons from all categories of Nigerian football and relegate them to one measly category, even though they have done more for the nation's football than the male team could ever. Disrespectful even..... But it is what it is, I guess.
However, calling this a "Nigerian Footballers Award" is laughable if it is more of a Nigerian Male Football team award, remembering that the men did nothing this year compared to the women.
Let me modify sha
Troost-Ekong has just one goal for the Super Eagles, can't recall the team and Google is barely helping Firstly there is no where in the world where during footballers awards male and female players are nominated together for an award category be it FIFA, CAF or SWAN awards. Secondly, CAF and FIFA only has "Female Footballer of the Year award" and the other categories are for the males. Though we may in subsequent awards consider including other female awards. This could largely be attributed to relatively lower followership of the female game. Then for Ekong, I guess the goal u we're referring to was against Congo DR in the friendly in PH leading to the 2018WC. |

So let Lady Safarigirl take my place here. Would be even nicer to have a lady's voice involved in the nominations. So Safarihoney, please go ahead and draw up your nominations.... Let me take the back seat on this one...

If I may come in on this Chukwueze issue, firstly comparing him with Mbappe is not fair, even though they are of same age. You cannot compare the opportunities for development both players had. That aside Chukwueze cannot match Mbappe talent-wise.
That aside, I do not agree that Chukwueze has not done enough to deserve a SE call up. Or he has not done enough to deserve the rating he gets here. Chukwueze is a product of our Youth System. We saw what he did at the U17 and we have closely monitored his progress and he has continued to improve and leave up to his rating.
Don't get me wrong I am not rating him based only on his U17 outing but also his continued development and recent performances for Villa Real. I watched the Barca. Vs Villarreal game with a friend and he asked me "why is this boy not playing for the Super Eagles?" I just told him we just capped him in a friendly against Uganda. Not all football fans follow national team football like we do here.
I personally tip Chukwueze to fluorish to become a major Attacking force in the Super Eagles but whether he will rub shoulders with the best in the world I cannot say. |

komekn: If you restrict the nominations too only 2018 there is a very limited value you can't measures true quality. The term is impact, what impact can you measure in terms of quality from 2/3 games a player has played. In the past 11 months.
It's not an award just a statistic that says they turned up.
The time span is just too short and the numbers too small.
Nonetheless, to fulfil all righteousness.
My three nominees are Kelechi Nwakali, Semi Ajayi and Jamilu Collins. You cannot tell me u cannot see the impact Samuel Kalu and Jamilu Collins have made in the team thus far. |

Sample for Collation.
Each Committee member has nominated 3 players per award category. You just count the frequency of nominations for each player per category across all Committee members. Eg. 1). Nigerian player of the Year nominations: Iwobi 5, Ighalo 3, Musa 4, Moses 2, etc. .Top 3= Iwobi, Musa and Ighalo.
Do this across all the Categories. I am suggesting Sir Joebie to join me in doing this please.
Cc: Tbaba1234, Komekn, Joebie, ChrisKels, Forgiveness, TheSuperNerd.
Deadline for nominations is 6pm (Nairaland time).
Komekn note that u have not made nominations for Most impressive New inclusions as all the players u have been nominating are not elligible. U have till 6pm to tidy this up. Else we move on without your nominations for that category. |
