That is where the friendlies come in.. He can show his ability there.

Hopefully, he can prove himself to be ready.
You know why I still have concerns over that boy?

His age.

Should I even tell you that he doing well in those friendlies doesn't necessarily mean he will do well in a real match situation?

Goalkeepers generally get better with age. Uzoho definitely has a lot to learn as a goalie.

Right now, with the quality of goalkeepers we have, i would actually favour him to take the number 1 shirt.

The man has kept 11 clean sheets in 16 games this season. That is not an easy feat.

Yes, you can argue that it is division 3 but did what level are our NPFL players playing? Ezekiel Bassey left the NPFL and could not make the cut in Barca B, which is a division 3 side. Is our NPFL better than that level?

Rivers united played a villarael B side and could not beat them. It was a 2:2 draw, i believe.

Right now, Uzoho compares very well with what is on ground.
Sorry, but that stat is not enough.

He is still an untested player as far as the national team is concerned.

I will....because I can't ask such questions repeatedly...

that your Dele you asking for....how many clean saves has he made in the Israeli top flight this season?
i will even pick that 18 years kid in Brazil over Dele anytime anyday let alone uzoho....
Dele is not better than the goal keepers we have presently....so him not been invited makes no difference...but ejide invitation will be in the negative....he gonna depreciate the team...akpeyi way far better.

He made some low saves.. I remember he made one at full stretch against Girona.

I have seen several highlights and have not seen a goal, he conceded because it was low

We need to see more games to properly assess.
If we recommend him as the number 1 goalie just because of those few games you saw, then we will be playing with fire.

Exactly..... how can we be comfortable with a Rookie manning our Posts, with another Rookie and inexperienced Keeper on the Bench at the World Cup?!

Are we going to the World Cup for a Trial, perhaps to boost the Experience of the Rookies?!

Dele Aiyenugba ought to be re-considered as the Team No. 1, with Ezenwa and Ajiboye on the Bench.
But first we need to see Aiyenugba in those friendlies. I just pray he comes out good.

Scenario : Nigeria is in the quarter finals in Russia, Uzoho is injured. Ezenwa to man the post in the quarter finals. Nigeria is one nil up. In the 89th minute, Ezenwa has a rush of blood to the head and brings down an opposing attacker under no pressure at all. Ezenwa is shown a straight red card. An attacker is pulled out, in comes Akpeyi.

I understand your Points Boss, but we shouldn't overlook experience for a raw Talent. We've only seen Uzoho for 45mins in the Eagles Shirt, though he was excellent but I'm still not convinced yet.

We will be facing established Players plying their Trades in the Elite Teams in Europe, hence we need to parade not just our best Legs, also experienced PLAYERS.

We can keep watching on Maduka and Uzoho coz they are for the Future not for quick Fix. And for those who can't argue logically but tagging anyone that mentions or suggests Call up for certain Players as Agents...... Ride on!
Thank you!

Sir Tbaba1234...... pls try to be objective on this Keepers Issue. How many Ondoas are in the Team of our Opponents in the Group Stage?!

With the same Ondoa, Super Eagles made it to the World Cup while Cameroonians would be watching in their Homes. We are talking of World Cup, not a Continental Tournament.

Do you really expect Maduka to make the Cut at the Expense of the experienced ones?! Let's be frank here..... we do not need Maduka in the Team. Have we seen him played?!

I'm actually expecting you to be rooting for the Recall of an experienced Keeper in Dele not a Rookie in Maduka. Dudes were mentioning Alampasu, Uzoho, Akpeyi, now Maduka....... and we think we can conquer the World with these Keepers?!

World Cup ain't a Platform to sell Players to better Clubs, it's meant the proven Talents not upcoming Talents.

Thank you for this Lovely post my brother.

With the ruling out of Enyeama, I throw my weight behind another look-in at Ayenugba and also Rohr should reconsider Dele Ajiboye. For now I am even more comfortable with Ajiboye than Uzoho.

I am not comfortable with those rookie goalkeepers.

The NFF clearly lack sound leadership or organisation to handle a sound youth development system. The worst thing was for the players to apologise. Somehow, they are trying to shift the blame on innocent 17 year olds. The coach, the team managers, NFF and Ayo Omidiran are the people who should be apologising.
I raised a red flag when the team first drew 1-1 with Ethiopia in Addis-Ababa. A Nigerian Flamingos or Falconets team should be beating a country like Ethiopia by at least 6-10 goals aggregate margin.

We have never really gotten it right at the U17 level. Never gone beyond the Q/final stage at the WC. This year's performance is the trough of it all.

How come the Falconets always perform better than the Flamingos?

The NFF need to probe into their players selections.

ALANYA 2018: Participating nations confirmed
By JWsports1 - February 22, 201832

This year’s edition set for 26 February to 7 March in Turkey, has attracted 11 nations so far.

This is a big increase from the first edition last year, which drew four teams: Poland, Romania, Turkey and Kosovo.

Nigeria, Mexico and Jordan will be the only non-European nations in this year’s showdown.

Ranked first in Africa and 37th in the world, Nigeria will be the fifth highest-ranked nation in the tournament, behind France (6), Mexico (26), Ukraine (27) and Poland (30).

France, the highest ranked nation in the tournament, will be sending their Team B, though, as their first team will be participating in the 2018 SheBelieves Cup.

All the participating nations are in top 100 worldwide with Kosovo, ranked 97th in the world, coming in as the lowest-ranked nation.

Participating nations

(In brackets: World Ranking)

France B (6)
Mexico (26)
Ukraine (27)
Nigeria (37)
Poland (30)
Romania (39)
Jordan (50)
Northern Ireland (55)
Kazakhstan (67)
Latvia (82)
Kosovo (97)
Good.

We need our Team A for this. including the outstanding players from the WAFU tournament.

Pls say something on this cos it seems Rohr is right,.

If we want to go by Rohr submission only Akpeyi worth included in the team or is he telling us better to be keeping in division three and regional league than wallowing on the bench in first team.

I think is better for keeper like Alampasu to go back to fareinse youth team or else he should forget WC.

Rohr statement is cleared regards goalkeepers, just be playing week in week out cos if not why considering goalkeepers at very lower league like regional league.
Rohr has a valid point.

Every coach will always prefer his players being active.

The expectation on Enyeama was that he would return to full action before our March friendlies.

The door was kept open for him to even walk straight in as the first choice goalie. But he didn't meet Rohr's conditions.

Well, just like Rohr has decided, we have to move on. Let's Watch and see how Rohr and his crew will go around this.

I think Argentina friendly would be our greatest undue at WC if Rohr want to base his assessment of the team on it and forgetting our WC qualifiers matches,it seems a lot have forgotten that the same Argentina needed to wait till last match before they made it.

Funny enough we talk more on Argentina friendly to rate our players, player like Shehu is now underrated to a point that 45 minutes Ebuhei is the main man now.

Goood i don't think Rohr is having it like a fan cos am seeing him considering Akpeyi again meaning he is a coach who know what is going on in the team than we fans.

As a player you must be able to adapt to all tactics if you want to succeed as a player.

My man we are not saying using the same set of players all through, pls try and read icon4s comment.

I don't think it would be advisable beating Croatia and cos Iceland brings different tactics then we distort our performing lineup, again beating Iceland and Argentina brings up another tactics,we changes our team again, it's not done that way.
Thank you my brother.

National teams are not coached that way.

I believe I was the one telling everybody that Shehu has no business in a 3-5-2 except as a DMF remember? So of course teams change when tactics change. I mean Spain came to the Euro final and decided to play a 4-6-0 and changed one or two first team players in the final oh. I also remember that in Luis Enrique's first classico he decided to field Xavi who was no longer part of the first XI, it backfired sha but I get your point totally.

However, I am not ok with the fact that everybody has been pointing out that we need the best from Ndidi etc etc. What about getting the best from Onazi? I mean getting the best from Onazi gave us an Afcon winners medal as well as a world cup round of 16 berth. Getting the best out of Ndidi gave us a stalemate against Senegal and one of the poorest first period in recent memory against Argentina
Sorry, your first sentence, was it before or after the Argentina friendly?

Mujtahida:
What I know is that you cannot play the same set of players with the same tactics against all opponents. You will get roasted just because of a mantra that you never change a winning team.
As I said before the national teams are typically limited in options as compared with clubs. For most countries the starters stand tall above those on the bench that the later may not even be considered even if there is a switch in formation.

Secondly the national teams do not have the luxury of time the clubs have to experiment on different tactics with different players options.

Thirdly, clubs can always make up for defeats in case their tactics, players selection or formation fail. The national teams do not play as many matches so little room for a make up. For eg if we go and play an alien formation against Croatia, just because we think we can catch them unawares, but it fails and we get whipped we are out of the WC! National team coaches have limited room for experiments and varieties. They typically find a system that works for the team and stick to it.
Slight changes can be made but care should be taken not to upset the balance in the team.

The key is focus more on perfecting your tactics than spending time to experiment on a tactics that you may think is alien to your opponents.

Age issue again, pls don't let us go nto that cos i can tell you those who really used good age are the likes of Christian Chuckwu,Muda Lawal,Segun Odegbami, Adokiye Aimesemeika, Felix Owolabi,Stephen Keshi,Peter Rufai,Austin Eguavoen.

On marriage, married older lady is not a point to determine players age, hope you remember someone like RMD married very older MEE of defunct classique in the 90s,Ali Baba married older Patrician Leon in early 2000,so not a point.

Pls did you know the age Ahmed Musa got married even those with real age like Keshi,Eguavoen,Rufai married after secondary school so sometimes it depends on individual decision.
Musa Yahaya that passed MRI got married in 2016. Mathew Olorunleke, 2015 Flying Eagles goalie got married in 2015. Five years down the lane and they may have given birth to 3 children just like Kayode and someone will start doubting their ages because of that?

I was born and raised in that side of the country too.

You will hardly see a Yoruba man who is financially successful that is not married. Kayode has made money for years now, so what do u expect?

Talking about his wife looking 30s. You know child bearing makes most women look older. And secondly Yoruba women typically marry their age mates (I mean 1-3years difference). Some are even older than their husbands.

I am not doubting that Kayode age-cheated but his is definitely not as much as that of Chrisantus.

I explained earlier there is 90% first team and there is room for one or 2 player to add dynamism to the team's play..I wasn't suggesting even 50% change to the team..a team needs to have 1or2 player come in during the tournament to make them unpredictable.that's what I have been saying..

Regarding Chelsea, I think ppl are getting it confused the fact that Chelsea deployed the same 3-4-3 formation..the tactics was totally different.Chelsea was relying on pure counter attacking today Nd maximizing the individual dribbling skills of its forward players, that's why in this setup, Morata or giroud wouldn't work..

Isn't Morata a first team player also? Thou his form has dropped this past couple of weeks..or how would you explain dropping bakayako for fabregas if its not pure tactics..the former doesn't just have the passing range to make their tactics work..
Definitely nothing is cast in stone. It is no law that you must execute all your 3 group games with 100% same players. Neither is it law that you must make changes to the starting list for each game.

A team goes into a tournament having first choice players for each role.

But several factors can lead to alterations in the starting line up.

1. A regular performer might get injured in the first game and may not have recovered fully for the second game.

2. A first choice Striker may fail to hit the back of the net only for the second choice striker to come in and score goals. In several of such cases the original first choice will not start the next game. Just also like another outfield player may not have a good game and his backup comes in and the game changes.

3. A first choice goalie may have a bad day in the office and the second choice brought in to replace him in the next game.

4. A team may get whipped and the coaches may need to sacrifice 1,2 or 3 players just to switch tactics.

5. A player may get suspended. Or a key player may be at the risk of missing a potential crucial next round game. That player may be rested in the 3rd group game and another player starts in his place.

6. A team may have qualified for the next round with one game to spare. It may be time to rotate the squad.

Typically, for national team coaches, when you execute your first game with your first choice players and none of the conditions I listed above took place. And your team played well and won handsomely. You may want to start that next game with the same players and same formation 100% irrespective of the strength of the next opponent . One of the basic rudiments of coaching is "you don't change a winning team".

As you rightly quoted football is dynamic. There is a high chance of one of the 1-6 situations above happening in a team which means teams hardly execute the games with 100% the same lineup.

Pure tactics bro..if not for that mistake, there was no way Barcelona getting a goal today..

I think Chelsea can still go to camp nou and get a result..but it's much harder now with that away goal..
The problem is Chelsea cannot afford another night of bus parking at Nou Camp. That must come out to play. And that will lead to their massacre.

I hope Sir Kog45 watched that game to see what we are talking abt..in a tournament, there is nothing like 100% first team..this day you set up your team aaccording to the opposition..
Club players selection is different from national team players selection.

For clubs you typically have more options and alternatives which are rarely so in the national team set up.

Besides, what is so different about the way Chelsea set up today? Same same team naa.
