TheSuperNerd: Dont mind me Chief .... Even while I typed that post and tagged you (as leader of Elders council) and the Pioneer Super OPs, I actually recalled that it was you who first mentioned this. Biko gbaram... lol
Oya... I leave it to you guys to decide who to create. Have in mind too that Sir Joebie is also now a Super OP here. Yep... so If Joseph1013 won't be available to create it then maybe Joebie can create it. But it has always been Joseph1013. Make una choose. TheSuperNerd, why are you beating about the bush? Create the thread and let's set the ball rolling. The AYC is about 12months away and qualifiers are due in the next few months (April/May). No time. I hope I spoke the mind of the house? |

Joebie: I think the list is premature. Based on our practice in the past, most of the preparation/qualifiers will be executed by home based players for obvious reasons. OGN of course needs to put out some news. No doubt we can be confident that we will qualify, and we can debate on the list for the 2019 U20 world cup now if we want to.
As regards the thread, I will always give my support/presence whenever it's created. The heading says "players who should be part of....". It didn't say "these are the only players....". Of course due to the poor performance of the last U17, the best bet is to start-off with the home based players. But the foreign based/foreign born players should also be approached for them to know they are also part of the process. We start camping with the home based and if any of the foreign players are available and good enough to make the team we line them for the qualifiers. |

TheSuperNerd: Boss Joseph1013, Sir Terzurum5, Sir Orkpekyandega, Chief Icon4s.... all other monikers and protocols duly recognised.
I think with the appointment of our youth and cadet team coaches, we need to create new threads for them to follow up on news about them separately from the Super Eagles. This has always been the trend... what do you suggest? Normally it is Joseph1013 who handles and creates all threads on our under age sides.... so what do you guys think? I am dropping this here because none ahead of the 2019 Tournaments have been created just yet.

Russia 2018 WC Countdown: 120 days 7mins to go TheSuperNerd, sebi I mentioned something like this some pages back and you said it is like I am the new coach of the Flying for always mentioning things related to the Flying Eagles. I have even done a row call of players who are eligible and called for a creation of a New thread to discuss players for our youth teams. We don't need any other approval. Let's create it and start discussions there. |

Mujtahida: Guys I foresee a time when heading will be banned in football. I just read that Ryan Mason who suffered a fractured skull from a head collusion with Gary Cahill in January 2017 has been advised by his doctors to retire from the game after 13 months of trying to return to the game.
Remember the Will Smith's movie 'Concussion'? Then kicking of the ball should also be banned considering the number of people whose careers have ended due to fractured bones. Ban heading? Make someone like Olivier Giroud retire from football? |

tbaba1234: There is a difference between competitive games and reserve games. He will be fit but that extra sharpness will take a few games. Not necessarily bro. Doesn't follow for every player. Like I said it is only players returning from injury that take a longer time to regain sharpness. For a player who was relegated to the reserve team, one or two senior(competitive games) and he is up and running. Some players even hit the ground running right from their first game after return |

tbaba1234: It would take some time to shake up the cobwebs but a fit Musa is an asset. Haha Cobwebs. But these are professional players who have been into active football for years. Not as if they sit on the bench during training session. For a player returning from injury it will take a longer time to be match fit. But for a player like Musa who was not injured but only kept out of match day squads one or two games and he is back up and running. Though Musa may not be a starter in Russia but I see him as a potential Super sub that can come in to complete the damage. |

Though it ended 0:0.

Anyway, i expect everyone will be tested in the 2 games against Poland and Serbia. On Akpeyi's shaking, what are we paying the keeper trainers and team psychologist for. Rohr rates Akpeyi highly. He is an experienced coach. Let's just believe he knows what he is doing. |

Anyway, i expect everyone will be tested in the 2 games against Poland and Serbia. Everyone cannot be tested. Seems unfair, but that is the reality. Friendlies are not only for testing it is for also to boost the confidence of the selected players (keepers inclusive). The truth is not all the 5 or 6 goalies would be tested in those friendlies. Honestly, Rohr's mind is his... Maybe Sir Tbaba1234 can update his "battle of the goalies" little documentary if Akpeyi's invitation is indeed confirmed. Lol

Kog45: My man you are right but it seems as a fan we always let emotions reign supremely in our analysis and this should stop so that we can learn more here.
I will not deceive you we are not having it good in goalkeeping department, that's the truth cos a situation we are banking on a keeper keeping in regional league equivalent of division four for WC meaning we are in serious crisis.
Uzoho too is not finding it funny but we keep on rating him with performance in division three and now Uzoho is the fourth keeper in Deportivo though his 45 minutes against Argentina waa awesome, hope next friendly we see more of him.
Alampasu still number three in his club, not really good for his development just having training with main team meaning is match rusty.
Maduka from nowhere with no clear performance came into reckoning and guys believe he has what it takes to mann eagles post but forgetting this guy is keeping in junior regional league equivalent of division 4.
Ezenwa an home based keeper who some believe is not the best in local league but always find his way to national team but had a good WC qualifier exvept Algeria match, aso his performance against Angola at CHAN was damn good but till now Rohr doesn't truth him
Ajiboye another home based not rated by Rohr even Ezenwa the number one was not trusted by the same man.He had a good performance at CHAN especially against Sudan but can we trust him after seeing him against Morocco.
Now Akpeyi who Rohr rate highly but till today has not able to satisfy Rohr and his grace continue if truly he is on the list for March friendly.
Enyeama not coming back and if he does can we really trust him again cos out of active football for more than six months due to injury and walking straight to starting lineup might be disastrous just like what happened to Rufai at France 98.
Ikeme should have been the solution but health issue did not let us enjoy a good keeper.
Goalkeeping issue just too dicey and Rohr must made up his mind on time cos WC is approaching. Firstly, Enyeama is not just coming back from injury and walking into the line up. He has since(quite a while) recovered and since resumed training. He had a very descent return to action even stopping a penalty. You are very right about people's emotions taking over in terms of the clamor for Uzoho, Alampasu and Maduka. The Goalkeeping department for the World Cup is not for rookies. |

That is it. It is only normal. I don't see why anyone would make a big deal out of it. Was is not after Vardy's injury that Iheanacho started seeing some little rays of light before finally making the bench in the EPL and then even starting a game? Now we are relieved that the boy still has some stuff in him Not that I am a Leicester fan but because of the Nigerians in the team I would always want them to win ( except of course against Arsenal). That is the spirit of patriotism. |

TheSuperNerd: 4. 2002: This effort is somewhat divisive among supporters. Certainly, there are some fond memories of some of the nation's greatest players strutting their stuff in Japan and South Korea - in the Group of Death - in this bright number, and there was no way that the Super Eagles were going to be missed. However, the shade of green just wasn't quite 'Nigeria' enough for purists, with Nike returning to a similar option for the home kit ahead of this year's tournament. Intriguingly, Nigeria opted for white numbers on their fluorescent green kit against Argentina in 2002, but changed to black - for legibility purposes - for their clash against England. This 2002 Jerseys are Nigeria's worst. The color is off, the Jersey numbers and names are so unreadable and they don't have fitting. The material for the shirts sef is enough for a complete track suit. |

dainformant: Former Super Eagles defender and captain, Uche Okechukwu, has become a professional hunter, according to reports. An Abia based journalist, Enyinnaya Appolos met with the 50-year-old Turkish citizen, Uche Okechukwu (Deniz Uygar) at his country home in Umuoria village, in Obingwa LGA in Abia state...
The journalist revealed that the former player is now a great hunter which he reportedly said is his hobby and even did it happily while in Europe.
Below is what the journalist shared on Facebook;
With Uche, the great Footballer and Hunter
On my way back to Aba this morning from Isiko, with my brothers, Bright Eze and Livinus Nwabughogu, we saw him...one of the greatest Ngwa sons, one of the greatest Blacks and Africans, one of the greatest Nigerian citizens, one of the greatest world footballers, the Gentle Giant, a Turkish citizen, Uche Okechukwu (Deniz Uygar) at his country home in Umuoria village, in Obingwa LGA...
Uche, former captain of the Nigerian Supper Eagles and one of the ever best of Fenerbahçe SK if Turkey, is not only a great footballer, he is also a great hunter, yes he is a hunter...he goes into the bush with his long gun (egbe ntu) to hunt and kill animals.
Hear him: “hunting is my hobby, even in Europe, I go hunting. I love doing that. We are hunting in the next village (Itu) on Tuesday...” that is Uche for you.
Uche is an Aba boy...in spite of the fact that he is a Turkish citizen, where he can choose to live for life, he is always at home with us in Aba and Umuoria...you will never notice him, always quiet.
His wealth and fame will never push him for anything...a successful footballer of all times...He is a great man...

Danycrusoe: Akwa fall my hand losing 2-1 at home to hawks of Gambia, seems the Hawks are a good side, unbeaten in 6 straight matches now. today's win makes it their first away win in 4 matches the other 3 have been score draws. unless a miracle happens in the second leg Akwa maybe just out of the Continental football. even a 0-1 away win in Gambia won't be enough, they will need a scoreline like 2-0 or 2-1 to push the game into extra time.
Plateau United, well they are showing why they are truly the champions of the NPFL, their league win wasn't a fluke 3-0 winners against Eding who are also champions of the Cameroonian league is not a small feat but is their league that strong, is it stronger than the NPFL? Anyways we might need to wait for the 2nd leg to see if they would move into the next round, lest we see a performance like Rangers last season (was it Rangers?) who wn 3-0 at home only go away and lose 4-0 to crash out. let's just wait and see.

Mujtahida: Nobody knows it all. Freedom must be given to all to state even nonsensical ideas. Yes! That's their privilege as human beings and no one has the right to stamp on their persons in the name of 'we must only make sensible statements backed with facts and figures(yes because there's a way a man's opinion or viewpoint is attacked and he feels it is himself that is being attacked). You are a science oriented guy. Isn't hypothesis an opinion? Some hypothesis are right, some are wrong. In the face of wrong opinions correction is what is needed. But to say that only correct ideas are welcome here is to my mind setting up a creed which will make us attack with religious ferocity those who have ideas and opinions that seem incorrect to us Are we going to have only white here and no black? Even a regime of sensible ideas backed with facts and figures is abhorrent to my soul.
Even if one cannot stomach 'nonsensical' opinions (mind you what is nonsensical to you might be sensible to another person just as it is often said that one man's rebel is another man's freedom fighter) then one can as well challenge it but how we challenge bollocks matters. It is not until a man is told 'wakaa' that he'd feel insulted
Iheanacho is not a god. I heartily support him. In fact I get pricked when he's criticised but I do not subscribe to our creating a gang mentality where everybody must have the same opinion. That is fundamentalism, that is totalitarianism, that is how terrorism begins. Even in the face of facts people are entitled to their opinions because interpretation of facts differ from person to person. Our fingerprints differ, our brain patterns differ, our voices differ. So also our views and opinions. Let's loosen our grip on the need to be right and be seen as right to the extent that we cannot tolerate other people's opinions.
And its not correct to say that those who queried Sir Icon4s' intervention are people who hate Nacho. I understand what Icon4s said but at the same time the undercurrent sounded like he was giving approval to the way liedetector was hounded.
We should not say welcome to people when we cannot welcome them in totality particularly since this is a faceless impersonal online forum. What sort of welcome is this: I welcome you but I do not welcome your absurd opinions. If there's no liberty for them to state their opinions whether backed by facts and figures or not how can we discuss, how can those with wrong ideas be corrected? Congo4ka is one weird guy but I like the way he was corrected yesterday. But you will note that others still said they liked him. That's how life is.
We've all been guilty of attacking each other here but I have soft spot for newcomers. They should be handled with more sensitivity. Only God knows the many number of persons who can richly contribute to this thread that we have chased away. Would it not be better if sometimes we ask people the reason for their 'absurd' opinions and try and engage them?
And even if an opinion is wrong it won't hurt if we endeavour to correct it with the patience and the wisdom of those 'who know'. Elyte89 reaction is typical. He doesn't hate Nacho. He hates the sacred opinions, viewpoints and facts surrounding Nacho and he's decided to desacralize those ideas and facts just to infuriate those who are intolerably Pro Nacho. In a sense elyte89 wants to save Nacho and free him from the consequences of dangerous love.
I should not be misinterpreted as saying that I approve absurd ideas. What I am saying is that we cannot dictate to people the ideas and opinions they should state. I state my own. That's my freedom. You are permitted to disagree, you are permitted to interrogate my opinions, to challenge them. You are even permitted to state your own contrary views. That's your freedom. Igbos have a beautiful proverb which underlies their republican nature: let the Eagle perch, let the vulture (note that the vulture is a clumsy, gruffy, ugly, absurd looking bird) also perch. The one that says taaaa to the other, let his wings be broken.
I am pro Nacho but anti - siege mentality. I will end by giving this short anecdote which ends with one of my favourite quotes: Jean Jacques Rousseau was writing dangerous books, espousing ideas that threatened government, the social order and many cultural norms in 17 century France. He was wanted by the government. All over France he was a wanted man. He had no where to run to. Finally he decided to run to Voltaire. Upon knocking the door Voltaire welcomed him with the following words which have become immortal: I do not approve of the things you say but I will defend to my death your right to say it.
Cheers and love to you all. I said "that's how we roll here". Meaning it is a norm here. I cannot support any one using harsh words against anyone here. |
