tbaba1234: The team is still not very good. Equatorial Guinea is the poorest team in this group and we labored against them especially in the first half.
Okpotu is not a good enough striker even with the goal.
The positives are players like Faleye and Eze. My brother, we had to endure watching that first 45mins. I even slept off on three occasions. The boys play better when they make short passes rather than trying those long balls. That Okpotu guy had to score today. It was either today or never for him. His goal gave the team the needed composure and drive. Men... but that team sha. Na endurance person take dey watch o. I hope they can raise their game at the final stages. |

Mickael2: this flop thing you are mentioning, towards the end of Ideye's West Brom career he actually started banging in the goals. I remember at some point he had 8goals in 11 games and one commentator during an FA cup game(I think it was either a semifinal or quaterfinal in which he scored too) was saying that he is now paying back his fee in full. Then he went to Olympiacos and basically made the Greek league's scoring chart his own. I am actually scratching my head as to why you think he flopped anywhere Ideye that joined Westbrom on a record signing in September and took till late December before he registered his first goal. He had a good spell some time in February and scored 6 goals. His last 2 goals came in an FA Cup game later in the season after the club had already reached a decision to sell him off. A record signing that scored only 9 goals in all competition even despite the fact that he had so much playing time. I need not tell you about the level of competitiveness in the Greek league. Continue scratching your head. Hahaha |

Kog45: Oh Rohr dropped him not a big deal,Ighalo was dropped too but bad performance against South Africa paved way for Ighalo against Cameroon even strikers like Nwakaeme and Aaron Samuel made the squad or do you want to tell me Aaron and Nwakaeme are better than Ideye.
Remeber the same Rohr dropped Iheanacho to the bench for the same Ighalo he dropped for Iheanacho against Algeria and South Africa.
This is to yell you Rohr can drop any player as at that time cos the team was evolving and was looking for immediate solution after South Africa match and thank God he started Ighalo instead of Nwakaeme and Aaron cos a lot on this thread wanted average Nwakaeme and Aaron over Ighalo and Iheanacho against Cameroon, may be we would have kicked our WC bye bye.
If Ighalo can be recalled who i don't rate personally right from U20 days until Cameroon match then do not write Ideye off. Let Ideye start playing the "Week in week out" first, then we know what next. |

BascoVanVeli: Icon4s:
That does not follow.
A player can arrive in January and find it difficult to fit in. And then subsequently relegated to the bench.
Good Luck to Ideye but I am not excited over that move. This was a follow up to your comment on Malaga needing him desperately because this a January window. |

Kog45: Pls get my point am relating Ideye status with the likes of Nwakaeme who some rate highly
Truly you preferred Kayode over Ideye but I believe Ideye would add more to the team than Kayode.
I don't think i would rate a 28 years old Nwakaeme with a cap over experience 29 years old Ideye, that's my point.
I know you don't rate Ideye even if he score dozens of goals and your last paragraph has confirm it.which is normal cos i have some players i don't rate too. I know Ideye is not that kind of player that will score dozens of goals in the La Liga. He does not have such abilities. Take that. |

BascoVanVeli: Then why did u take me on the long go around? Just say u don't rate the guy and I swear I will move on and at worst tease u if he performs. I didn't rate Amuzie from the u23 when Siasia played him against Egypt so I can understand not rating a player.
My problem is how long it took u to actually say this was ur issue. Why talk about January being a bad time to make a transfer if u knew u just didn't rate the player? What about ur Nigerian factor that u talked about, what was all that about? Are u still saying it is because he is old or are u now going with him just not being good?
The problem is that ur argument too dey change face. Do you even know what it means to rate a player or not? You brought about the January talk. I never mentioned whether the move is good or bad because it is coming in January. The move being in January was not my focus in anyway. I was not just excited about the move. That is all. Please be understanding the trend of conversations before jumping into them. |

edi287: Ideye isn't a poacher but a target man. Target men are so underrated at times. His hold up play is good and he has underrated technique. He won't obviously score as much as Nacho or Ighalo, but he can be a useful tool off the bench. If anything, Nacho will benefit playing alongside someone like him. And Rohr has since dropped him from amongst the strikers? The primary responsibility of striker is to hit the net. Even AMs and wingers are expected to score goals talk more of an out and out striker. Any player from the forwards can hold up play. Ighalo, Iwobi, and Mikel do that a lot. |

I am not that kind of person that will not want to criticise any player for the fear of being tagged a hater or "desliker".

BascoVanVeli: How does this relate to Ideye who has had a good career barring the mishap in England. U are just making up anything to fit wat u are saying but it doesn't make sense. This is a player who won the nations cup with his country u are trying to compare with an abysmal child. A Striker whose only highlights for the national team was that flick to Emenike in 2013 and the build up to Iheanacho's goal against Zambia. The only time he really had it going was when he went to the Greek league, a league we will easily regard here as back-water. But upon invitation to the Super Eagles it seemed he was again overrated. |

BascoVanVeli: Fact number 1 and most importantly a Lion will never give birth to a goat but really if we are using your analysis, the child would have only failed one entrance exam(EPL) but yet was invited to interview at a big university(La Liga). Now because the father has other children who he feels are smarter and deserve the chance more, he tells the child he will never get accepted or succeed.
Ezenwa's case is too obvious. The defense has done a great job, it takes nothing away from him to congratulate those lads. Just like when Man u beat Arsenal De Gea was magnificent so I can never give the Manchester back 4 as much credit as I would give him. Wait, so after Entrance exams, there are no exams from JSS1 to SS3? The child has been abysmal in exams leading to his WAEC and Jamb. And because the father does not believe in his abilities to even excel in the exams not to talk of the medical field does it mean he does not like that child? And yes, a good father will know the abilities of his children and what a child is and is not capable of. There are certain players that I would hear of their move to Malaga or the LA Liga and I would be excited. |

BascoVanVeli: So u are just going to overlook the 'lecture' I gave u on the word BASICALLY in front of don't like? Anyways, u said signing him would be a bad move because it was January. I told u that La Liga clubs make these kinds of signings and they almost always work out. U then went on to saying that he flopped in England. When I brought up players who flopped in England but made it in Spain u asked for Nigerian one's. All this to finally say u don't believe in his ability, I stand to be corrected but it all leads to u basically not liking the guy. Why didn't u say that u didn't believe in his ability from the beginning and spare me? Why give all those reasons before admitting ur true feelings?

What gives you the assurance that Ideye will be playing week in week out in Spain?
No be Kayode dey run away from that same LA Liga due to lack of game time?
What if they are already dusting the part of the bench Ideye will Sidon put? Hahaha.
This is January, Malaga is trying to save their butts. This is not the time that a club would sign a player they don't need.

Kog45: Excitement on Ideye to Malaga? No o but good moved for his career and good for Eagles if he is in Rohr plan.
Yes he had a great 2013 for Eagles but his flopped for Eagles was over exaggerated by fans and Keshi dropped him for mediocre like Uchebo and Nwofor.
Apart from Mikel at confederation tell me a Nigerian player that had good performance even Oduamandi went AWOL after the hat trick against Haiti.
Yes a flopped at West Brom which wasn't new in football cos we have seen a lot of great players who are flopped but still pick up their career somewhere else and flourished, hope you remember Sallah was a flopped at Chelsea but see him now shaking EPL.
Well you would picked Kayode but I preffered Ideye meaning different opinions. On a good day i supposed to pick Kayode based on my relationship with him but Ideye is somebody i respect so much when used behind a point man, check Iheanacho goal against Zambia and Afcon 2013 behind Emenike, reminded me of early Yekini & Siasia partnership upfront. Exactly! those two examples you gave in that last paragraph are the only highlights that some one who we call a striker has had in all his Super Eagles career. And you think I will rate him to go and start blowing away defenses at the Spanish La Liga. I will just say a big well done to his agents. That was a great move for his career. |

BascoVanVeli: Well I was not the one that posted that, all I said was he signed a good deal.
Your number 2 stems from not knowing the meaning of basically saying something. It means u didn't say it but it sounded like u implied it.
For example, Gernot Rohr says his target for the world cup is quarter finals. I can then say Rohr basically said Nigeria won't win the world cup. I hope this clears things up for u.
As for Ezenwa, all I said was that he has been on vacation, there was no malice involved. I will never be moved by sentiments, I call it like I see it. The Genot Rohr example you gave no "bo si" at all. Hahaha. Let me give u a good example. Your child that you know has been struggling to pass his exams since primary school and he has never been serious with his studies either. Time to write WAEC and JAMB and he tells you he wants to study Medicine and Surgery and he wants to attend the most prestigious and most competitive University for that course. Then you will doubt his abilities to have that competitive edge right? But does that mean you dislike or hate that child? On Ezenwa, all you have said is that he has been on vacation? Have you not discredited his clean sheets in this tournament and rather ascribed it to the good defence? Bros dey take style fear God o. |
