Kog45: Hope you remember Kanu was duped too,it's not about people you moved with and till today Kanu never get over it,he should thank God for his great personality that's paving way for him now through his foundation.
My man let pray not to fall victim of 419 syndicate or a close pal whom you trust but is looking for a way to swindle you
Austin Okocha too almost lost his hard earned money when SGBN had issues but God smiles on him cos he is a top personality, did you know how many Nigerians who have lost fortunes through bad investment.
My man education is the key though we seems not to appreciate it any longer due to easy money in sports and entertainment industry but i realized that educated ones always manages their little resources and earn respect.
Pls compare Segun Odegbami and Adokiye Aimeseameka to their mates, the two are up there leaving a very good life cos they are educated.Felix Owolabi too who had PHD in PE. is having it good.
Seyi Olofinjana despite little money he made is doing well cos of his education and moving faster than his peers in sports entrepreneurship.
Pls check Mike Emenalo rising profile, this is a graduate of Boston university and had poor career as a footballer saving for WC appearance but his education is pushing him up everyday.
Jonathan Akpoborie a US university graduate too had serious issue relating to illegal migrants to the extent his contract was terminated but till today his education is helping him out by having a decent life.
Waheed Akanni also a US university graduate is leaving a cool life despite having a short career as a footballer. He is now the rally point for ex internationals just cos of his education and exposure.
My man education is the key cos if a man is down but looking at his certificate, smiles always comes cos it pave ways unannounced. As a business man or an investor you definitely would have fallen into the hands of fraudsters in one way or the other. Although the extent of loses vary. If you have never lost money in one way or the other in the form of investments then you have not started investing. I am not completely putting the blame on Oruma for his predicament but for him to have fallen so low due to one investment gone wrong tells a lot . When I say surrounding himself with the right set of people I don't mean the average person on the streets. I am talking about Financial advisers. Although I am not an investment expert but one basic investment principle every one should know is not to put all your eggs in one basket. Which obviously it seems he did. And that begs the question again, who did he surround himself with? Again I mean who were his financial advisers? And again I am not saying this to rub salt on Oruma's injuries. This is something we as young people need to learn from. Oruma worked very hard for many years. Played in different countries. Emersed so much wealth only for one Church consortium to wreck it. Too bad. I buy your point on education being a key factor. But also know that not every educated person is successful. |

komekn: I agree but disagree.
Education that is interactive, relevant application led and participatory deliberative gives competitive advantage. In addition increases personal capacity and widens ones knowledge base.
My Father is an academic and taught at UNN that's why I speak Ibo.
In my experience Of Nigerian education. The Lecturers projected themselves as infallible and unquestionable. The lecturers are small god's who require total reverence and must always be obeyed . The modus of study was more about rote memorisation that is cramming and quoting everything the lecture has delivered and never to be in contention and or contradiction with your lecturers.
I went to two Russell group universities in England. I found it shocking to call my Prof. not sir but by his first name Ryan,at the time I thought oyibo deh craze. I remember at a lecture contending and disagreeing with my lecturer. In a large 200 seat lecture theatre.
Crazy but true, he simply got up handed me the microphone and asked me to take the lecture that on this occasion I clearly knew more than him. I can never imagine that happening in Nigeria. Infact the opposite will happen you have just failed that course.
So I think formal education increases and enhances your understanding and your knowledge capacity. It is not an end in itself but a catalyst to widen your appreciations. I share in your view bro. I have had to be a student of Nigerian lecturers (my first two degrees)And American lectures. Man, the difference is clear. You are very right about the issue of name calling. I had a professor during my M.Sc. If you tell him good morning Sir he can embarrass you. You have to tell him "good morning Prof". Same goes for when you want to call his attention in Class. While that is not the same for those in the US. Most Nigerian lecturers mystify their courses and want you to fail so they will be highly feared. But reverse is the case abroad. A Nigerian lecturer will be boasting of a note he has been using for over 20years , that he has raised professors from it. Nothing has changed for him, when new knowledge is evolving everyday. I intend going back to the classroom later in life. And I am going to change a lot of things. |

I hope his former team mates like Kanu, Okocha, Oliseh, Amuneke and co and other well meaning Nigerians can come to his rescue. I so much love this guy. wayodude: You are right about our unpredictability. I think the best players are consistent and hence their teams are less unpredictable. I had a lively argument last weekend with someone in a pub, about the difference between Zaha and Hazard. My view was that Zaha is as good as HAzard on his day (when he brings his A-game). Having said that, while Hazard will bring his A-game 9 out of 10 games, Zaha will probably be unplayable in 4 games out of 10. In the other 6 games he will look like a school boy. I dont think there was a winner in that argument, beer soon took over. lol
The reason we are unpredictable is because most of our players are just like i described above. If England bring their A-game too, will we still win? I hope we do, my office rep and street cred relies on it. I am worried LOL Wow. you just nipped it in the bud. I concur. |

COOL10: It seems like I'm the only one who doesn't think we need to prove anything to anyone with these friendlies. If anything it should just be to boost our players' confidence levels. I want us to win the friendlies but I also want us to go to the world cup as underdogs. I want us to catch them unawares. I want our opponents to look back to the world cup and say:if only we knew,we wouldn't have underrated them. I want complete annihilation. I want us to be the eagles in sheep clothing being led by a well deserving Alpha eagle in Mikel obi and trust me when I say : WE WILL SOAR ABOVE ALL. Nigeria already has a track record of beating European teams in World Cups. Even if we lose all our friendlies they will still not underrate us. Spain suffered from this at France '98. Talking about boosting of confidence. The boosting of the confidence will definitely come with the wins. |

wayodude: Trust me I want us to do well BUT I feel we think we are better than we are. Many I have met here in London are already boasting about beating England. I wont get drawn on if we can win or not, no need for that. On paper are we stronger than England? Not being negative but just trying to give us a dose of reality, even this dose may not work. On paper England are a far better side. But I have said here before, one of the major strengths of our team is its unpredictability. If the players can bring their "A" game we will beat England. The problem with most of our sides is we do not usually play to our full potentials. A good number of our players have either played or are currently playing in England and we are going to see an Eagles team that will play as if they are at home. |

The world cup will be a litmus test for him, because he will be facing highly technical, disciplined and defensively rigid teams. This is why most world cup matches are boring and drab. But Argentina was a grade A opposition. And I must also point out that some of those African defenses are very difficult nuts to crack o. |

goldfish80: Exactly! Iwobi is now an international player other young players look up and aspire to follow his footsteps. It's all about end product now. The likes of Nathan Miles and Nelson are the babies of the team and they can be excused for about a couple of mistakes on the pitch. The fans are paying customers. They pay premium to watch their club. The customer is always right (no be me talk am) Sure they have seen the last couple of goals he scored for Nigeria and so they would expect same if not more from him at Arsenal. His end product for Nigeria is always top notch so why can't he do same or more for Arsenal that nurtured him and are paying his salary? |

He's no longer the baby of the team, if he had this sort of game a couple of years ago, people would have been swooning about his prospects. This is no longer the case, he is judged now mostly on his end product and rightly so. You get the point. The expectations on him are high right now. The bar has been raised for him. He on his part really needs to rise to the occasion or fall completely out of favor. Coaches do not ignore the voice of the fans for too long o. |

Joebie: ANALYSIS
Is Josh Onomah facing an identity crisis at Aston Villa? by Jack Nason 6 days ago Follow @nasonwrites
https://i2-prod.birminghammail.co.uk/incoming/article13935857.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/JS137039092.jpg
Young players are often sent out on loan to gain experience and develop raw footballing talents. After a successful summer in the England set-up, Josh Onomah came to Aston Villa in order to do just that. The start of the Championship campaign allowed the Tottenham-loanee to express himself amongst Steve Bruce’s side and he impressed. Subsequently, attention turned to the youngster’s future beyond this season. Since then, his form has been indifferent and his future remains uncertain. Has Onomah spiralled into a confusion over his playing career whilst at Villa?
Bit harsh- the kid’s only 20? It is a very fair point. Personally, I was quite impressed with Onomah’s performance at the beginning of the season. WhoScored award him an average rating of 6.69 for his Championship appearances. Meanwhile, the player has contributed four goals and an assist during his time at the club. Key goals against Bristol City and Sunderland ensured that Aston Villa saved and won points. At the same time, the player seems to have frustrated certain Villa fans with his performances:
The Villa Villain @UTV31. So we've been linked to a young 21yr old midfielder from @LFC Grujic ? Please Bruce no more kids from other clubs use our own and send Onomah back to @SpursOfficial as he's a bag of nuts you think he's good you must watch a different game to me #avfc
Conversely, there are others who believe that Steve Bruce is not utilising Onomah in the correct way. Whilst the Villa boss has positioned him further forward in the number ten role, others believe he is better suited to a deeper role. GIGGS SHARMA @GiggsSharma. Onomah is getting a lot of flack at the moment- he Isn't a no10- he is a CDM- he was player of the tournament for England u20 when we won the World Cup and bossed games playing CDM- we should drop whelan and play him in his proper position
The fans are confused? What must be going around the player’s head? As alluded to above, there is an argument that too much is going through the player’s head. Onomah hit his most consistent form in November, according to WhoScored. At that time, talk began to turn to the future. Would Onomah remain at the club in the long-term?
The player provided the answer himself to the Birmingham Mail, with an article posted on 22nd November. Within the article, the twenty-year-old made his intentions clear: he wanted to help Villa achieve promotion before returning to his parent club. Thereafter, many feel that the player’s form has dipped. A notably poor performance occurred against Leeds United.
As a youngster, it is natural that such games will happen. Ability is not the issue that has led to Onomah’s dip in form, but uncertainty could definitely have contributed.
Meanwhile, supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have also been discussing the player:
*As a disclaimer for the following paragraph, none of the opinions expressed by supporters can be regarded as completely authentic. However, the ideas are definitely worth speculating about.*
A Spurs forum, www.spurscommunity.co.uk, held an intriguing discussion about Onomah yesterday evening. One fan, who claimed very tenuous links to the player, argued that the youngster is unhappy with his advanced position. He also alleges that the player had previously been frustrated by his treatment by Mauricio Pochettino. In addition, there are also suggestions made that Aston Villa have offered him a permanent deal.
Pressure On Young Shoulders Although an interesting read, the forum is by no means an acceptable source to report. Nonetheless, there are elements of truth in the post upon which speculation could rise. It is true that rather than the number ten role that Onomah has occupied for Villa, he played in a deeper-lying position during the Under-20 World Cup last summer. Therefore, one may understand a sense of frustration if positioning is an issue for Onomah.
Furthermore, the player may be conflicted over the club at which his development can be best carried out. Clearly, the player wishes to return to Spurs after completing his loan stint at B6. However, other players such as Harry Winks have emerged during his absence.
Winks has also occupied the deeper-lying role that fans suspect Onomah prefers. Therefore, the Villa-loanee must be even more desperate to impress before he returns.
This is a situation made even more complicated by the resurgence of Aston Villa’s own Jack Grealish. His recent good form could well halt Onomah’s return to the starting eleven following the loanee’s concussion at Middlesbrough. Compounded by an array of midfield options, the Tottenham youngster may have to be patient to obtain another chance at impressing.
Patience From Player And Fans Both Onomah and the Villa faithful must be patient. The loanee’s impressive performances at the beginning of the season must be taken into account. As above, the slight lull in consistency following the Birmingham Mail article owes itself to uncertainty rather than a lack of ability.
A lot goes around the mind of a twenty-year-old, whether they are a student or a future star football player. If there is any truth in the Spurs’ forum post, the player must await his time. Let us not kid ourselves either, Onomah will be a very good player in a few years time. Onomah just needs nurturing.
Those who argue that we should be supporting our own youngsters have a decent point, but the season is still long and our depth may be our strength. There’s a lot more to come from Onomah yet!
--ClaretVillans . com Typical of of what happens to young players that hit gear early. Being that he has been around for quite some time it is hard to believe he is just 20. |

PrettyCrystal: A man identified as Azubuike Okoye has revealed how his wife almost ruined his life after looting his properties and eloping with school boyfriend abroad. According to the man, the wife also abandoned their son whom was taken care of by their neighbour while he traveled to buy some goods.
Read the report shared by the Humans of Abuja on behalf of the man who has now forgiven his wife.
My decision not to listen to my family has almost ruined my life.
I met her four years ago, I thought she was an Angel sent to me by God,immediately I went ahead to see her family and perform the necessary rites, and after eight months of our traditional wedding we got wedded in the church. After our first child a Boy, I was so happy that I to ask her to quit her Job and I opened a branch of my business for her, deal on Fabrics at Wuse market, I gave her access to everything she wants, but she gave me the shock of my life last year when I traveled to go and buy goods upon my arrival I only found my son with my Neighbor at my House.
He narrated to me how he came back from the market and found my son Sitting outside and crying and he haven’t seen my wife since two weeks , I thought that was all until the next day that I went to the market I opened my shop it was empty and I went to her own, it was empty,I almost killed myself but thank God I didn’t.
I called her it was switched off, I later got to know that she eloped with her school boyfriend to Abroad, my family actually kicked against me getting married to her but I only thought my sisters were just being jealous and insecure because I am the only male child but I never knew they saw what I never saw in her.
Thank God I have moved on, I have forgiven her and I wish her well in her new found love and home, as for me all I have got to do now is to secure my sons future and make sure he doesn’t lack anything nor make same mistake I made.
Some women are the reason why people tag ladies gold diggers, she only got married to me to steal from me. Please my advice to every single man out there don’t be blindfolded by love, while in love try and also listen to your family their reasons might be genuine..

He was only let down a couple times by his end product after completing a successful take-on. Something we barely witness when he's clad in the GWG. I reckon it's lack of understanding on the part of his teammates at club level Correct bro. If it is in you, it is in you. |

"We've mostly played European opposition up to now and the Brazil game acted as a reminder that we need to challenge ourselves in different ways as a team. "We're going into a World Cup where we will play African and Central American opposition so we get that with the games against Nigeria and Costa Rica. "But it's not just about the games we've got in the group stages, but hopefully beyond that as well. We want to expose the team to different styles and different experiences." Good point. |

The fact that u had been proven wrong twice should give u "faith" See, my brother, don't take things we discuss here too personal. Broken record or Broken CD, or what ever. The national team belongs to us all. Nobody here, at least none that I know of, will wish that any Nigerian team should lose in any competition. Get that straight. If you talk about passion, patriotism, or contribution I once shared here that I lectured the Manu 2013 boys on the effects of indiscipline on a young player's career. I did it for free! Including my flights and hotel arrangements. Iheanacho, Musa Mohammed,Benerd Bulbwa, Musa Yahaya, Awoniyi, Ibrahim Alhasan, "picture boy", the two Nwakali's are some of the faces that registered in my memory from that meeting I think Ndidi, Alampasu and Uzoho too. I think i have shared one of the pictures here. When I look at the level of discipline in those players I smile every day because I know I have contributed at least in one way to the development of Nigerian football. Nobody gets a penny richer here by winning any debates. We are just here to chat, get informed and very importantly have fun. Debates here are no do or die. False allegations or not you just have to prove the allegations wrong in a civilised manner. I try as much as possible to forget my age when I discuss here so as not to place any barriers. So just take it easy young man. We are all going to support the CHAN team with or without Faith. If I don't support the Nigerian team which team then do I support? It is my utmost wish, just like every one here, that the boys come back with the trophy. And if they don't, don't expect anyone coming here to shout " I told you, I told you". I sincerely do not hold anything against you. I perfectly understand how you feel. But u just have to be strong bro. Don't let little things like these get at you easily. I don't know if you are married and with family. Maybe by then u will understand that bantering received on nairaland should be the least of your worries One love man. |

TheSuperNerd: Why does this convo look like a dance? We are just flowing....
That Conductor of the orchestra is the man we must protect and ensure that by all possible means, he is battle ready and super fit for the world cup. He is indeed the key. Yes! Mikel is the key.
I know you have fallen in love with the combo of Mikel behind Iwobi and Iheanacho. But understand that we should not have it as our obvious strategy. We don't want to look predictable to the enemies now, do we?
So let them guess... Keep them guessing. This Mikel-Iheanacho-Iwobi combo is like the secret mjolnir we are taking to Russia. But again, in Ighalo, Victor Moses and Simon moses, we also have another hammer blow strategy. It is a good thing Chief to be armed in so many ways... Hahahahahahahahaha... This is exactly what makes our team very dangerous even as underdogs.
3-5-2, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, and 4-3-3 at the most potent formations this current team can execute and blow teams away in unpredictable fashion. We will get there... But yes the music and melody... The beautiful symphonies heard, seen and taken in when the Mikel-Iheanacho-Iwobi piece begins and is in flow, are simply orgasmic and full of "encore moments". But let that beautiful piece be just one among so many we wish to perform on the grand stage of Russia 2018. Definitely. Trying it in the next match is just to affirm if our game can really be suited to it. After all we have tried other formations all through the qualifiers and most have come out well. It is just to add this to the bag. |

TheSuperNerd: Nna eh... Chief Icon4s... Eh.. He won't get off your back unless you drop a simple "I'm sorry for doubting or questioning your strong passion and true support for the national team especially from the local front"
Dad, that is just an expo I have given you oooo... Hahahahaha Hahaha, does he have a stronger passion and support for the national team than I do? Haha, I seriously doubt it. I am just being real about my feelings about my expectations for the tourney and he won't let me rest. For people that have doubts about the abilities of the Russia bound Super Eagles we have given them enough reasons why we have Faith in that team. I say I don't have faith in the CHAN team. He says he has faith. OK share with me what makes you have Faith in the team na. That one reach to quarrel? |

tbaba1234: The false 9 tactics used against Argentina could serve us better than playing a number 9. We can switch it up depending on the game. Yeah, that can be very deadly such that when you are in attacking position you can pose a 4 attackers threat as the wing forwards can easily wreck havoc too. You saw how Musa stretched the defense before laying the pass to Iwobi for the 4th goal. Though it was played as 3-5-2 in that game but such can also be played in 4-4-2. 2 regular FBs, 2 CBs, 2 Regular Wingers, 1 DM, 1 CM, and 2 false 9. |
