Now DT Liverpool wants to sign mahrez, shld iheanacho still embark on bristol loan deal? wink
Iheanacho is not directly in contention with Mahrez but with Vardy.

Even with Vardy injured Iheanacho was still places on the bench in an FA Cup game against Fleetwood Town.

Mahrez going will not change anything.

I really think our players are not bold and intelligent enough to root and fight for the success of their careers.....

they should learn never to take every jibs thrown at them....and be determined to make the right move...

I will be so disappointed should nancho and musa jettison this proposed moves....
Is Musa part of the proposed move?

Another big reason Iheanacho should make the move to Bristol City Is that in the Championship, Lee Johnson's coaching skill have given them a fighting chance to qualify for the Premier League.

Bristol City sits fourth on the Championship table with 47 points. Cardiff that sits third on the table also has 47 points. Derby County is second with 49 points. Just two points ahead of Bristol City.

With Iheanacho fitting their system perfectly, they stand a fighting chance. I hope Nacho's handlers make this move happen.
Exactly my point.

Hope Leicester situation would not repeat itself in Bristol like Coach doesn't know how to use him or Bristol patterns of play doesn't suit Nacho,so he should look for a club that he can fit in,making mistake again would be disastrous to his career.
Eh if he starts warming bench at Bristol then they send him on another loan to a mid or lower table championship team. And if he still continues chopping bench they loan him again to a lower division.

How come we have never ever put into consideration pattern of play of either player or club when we discuss transfer of other players? It is only Iheanacho that a club must suit his pattern.

If he cannot get the nod at Bristol then what are we talking about?

Hahaha not because of Iheanacho.

It is a fact. The Dutch and Belgian top flight are not more competitive than the English championship jare.

Bristol City have asked to take Kelechi Iheanacho from Leicester on loan...
Well, I quickly went to check Bristol's position in the Championship. They are 4th and so within the play off zone. It means they have a good chance of making it to the EPL next season. And if Iheanacho goes and performs there they may even over-take Derby county who are just 2points away in 2nd position and gain automatic qualification.
And then seek permanent transfer for the player.

Benefit of this move is he will get enough playing time as we build up to Russia. The championship is really very competitive even more competitive than the Dutch or Belgian top divisions IMO.

Well, for me it is a better option than where he is as I don't think Puel having any plans for Iheanacho.

modified: Bristol are even playing the semi final of the League Cup.

What can we do to improve on poor spectators in our stands during matches?

I know two NPFL clubs that whenever they play the stadium is usually at least 50% full.

These cubs are Kano Pillars and Enyimba. Rangers too but only when the club is doing well.

Now, the difference between these 3 clubs and most of the other clubs is that they are the people's club. The people identify with them any where they go. They have a very large fans base.

I was on a project in Akwa-Ibom, in a community, about 40mins from Aba during Enymba's 2004 Champions league campaign. I watched the first leg semi final game between Enyimba and Esparence. The whole town was painted blue that day (Enyimba colour). Enyimba typically plays on Sunday evenings to ensure the traders whose only off days are Sundays come to the stadium.

I am an Enyimba fan and I identify with the club any where I go. Even though the quality of players are not the same as 12 -15yrs ago, they are still my darling club. Enyimba recently came to play an FA cup game in the city where I reside in Nigeria and I went to watch them.

Now my point is what makes fans always want to go and watch these clubs play? They identify with the club.
What makes Arsenal, Chelsea, or Man United fans always want to watch their clubs play? They identify with them. The last two times I visited London I went to watch Arsenal play at the Emirates stadium, one of which almost made me miss my flight.

Almost everybody in Aba knows that Enyimba belongs to the people of Aba so also does everyone in Kano knows that Pillars belong to people of Kano. Clubs should ensure the people of that City have that sense of belonging.

Another club that had the history of pulling crowd in their locality was 3SC. But the state government and management of the club have run it down.

There are some clubs that are based in certain cities and majority of the populace are not even aware.

Clubs need to go on a marketing drive, by bill boards , TV or radio stations to campaign for supporters, to let people know that it is the money realized from the taxes they pay that the government use in funding them and so they need to come and identify with them in the stadium to give them that winning edge.

Poor officiating, poor stadium facilities, insecurity are some other issues that have hindered fans but I am not going to touch those because I know others will do that.

We have failed to develop our own.

It takes a lot of patience and humility to even watch the NPFL in your living room not to talk of taking the pains to drive or transport your self to the match venues where your safety is not even guaranteed.

Even me as a person that still manages to once in a while have the appetite to watch the NPFL, I only watch selected matches involving the big clubs like Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Rangers. As I said it takes a lot of patience and humility to even do this in your own house. grin

Joel Signing For Degefors

by Phumzile Ngcatshe

Nigerian U17 duo Joel Daniel and Ladan Muhammed have signed for Degefors IF in Sweden.

The Swedish second tier outfit has concluded the signing of two Nigerian prospects according to media reports in Nigeria.

OwngoalNigeria reports that the duo was first spotted by the club scouts when they turned out for Jos-based Gee-Lec Academy in a tournament that had scouts from European teams in attendance.

Both Daniel and Muhammed were part of the 2017 U17 team of Nigeria and have signed three year deals, according to their agent Babawo Mohammed.

”Joel and Ladan are part of the reasons why I travelled to Sweden at the end of last year, and it has paid off now for them. Sweden is a nice place for young players to develop,” he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

”Degefors are an ambitious side despite their status as a second division team, the addition of Ladan and Joel will no doubt help their quest to qualify to play in the first division in the future.”

Together we analyzed football in 2017.

We argued, quarreled, threw jabs and celebrated together.

We have learnt from each other in diverse ways.

The tonic of this thread spans from the diverse opinions and Ideologies of members of this thread.

We are all winners.

As a Team we hope to continue to contribute our quota to the development of Nigerian football this year 2018.

Well done all.

sometimes, slow and steady is a far wiser approach than fast and reckless.

I say the opposition should determine who plays between Onazi and Ogu....eg, I would start Onazi against Iceland
Coaches in international competitions of this magnitude are not usually comfortable with making changes to the starting line up in the defense and midfield especially if the setup worked in the immediate previous game. Remember one of the rules of coaching is 'you don't change a winning team'.

True that no two oppositions are same just also like no two midfield players could be the same. Facing an opposition with a different style of play from the previous may just involve the coach passing some vital tactical instructions on how to approach this game and also setting up the players a little differently without necessarily altering the starting line up.

A midfielder of a particular desirable quality may be brought in later in the game depending on how the game is progressing to either choke up the midfield and slow down the opponent or add more mobility to create more chances. As I said before, depending on how the game is progressing.

U can't compare the level of CHAN to the Champions League or Confederations Cup which goes on at the same time. Egypt doesn't even participate in CHAN so that should give u an idea.
A player would elect to stay in his country and play CHAN because he wants to represent his country. Players move when the transfer window is open, not only in the summer. Salami moved before the last CHAN and even Chikatara was sold before the last CHAN.
Wait. Are you sure you have been following the CHAN competition at all?

Firstly you said this would be Rabiu Ali's first CHAN. Rabiu Ali that is a house hold name when it comes to this competition.

And now you say Chikatara moved before the last CHAN. The same Chikatara that became a household name in the last CHAN after coming in as a second half substitute for Tunde Adeniji to score 3 goals. Chikatara also scored our only goal in the 1-1 draw against Tunisia in the second game.

OK o

to be honest wit you...I have never seen a foreign groomed player so much loved by Nigerians even prior he made his debut...

almost all Nigerians who watched the epl wanted him play for us....his desire and debut for Nigeria would have been so much celebrated...even you sir icon4 for the first time...I saw you admire and canvas for the inclusion of the young lad in our super eagles team...but he messed it up....

only pinnick can help him...that if...he is really serious playing for us...and not to use these scheme to draw up Southgate attention....so as to make 3 lions world cup team....
that lanky kid can be very cunning....I repeat very cunning..and deceptive
I have concerns over our striking department.

Just take a look at the strikers we have in the fold. Only Ighalo and Nwakaeme seem to be getting the desired playing time. And of course we know how we rate the leagues in which they play. Iheanacho and Kayode that I felt by now should be the two weapons of destruction in the team are not really measuring up club- wise. Iheanacho's case is even worse.

As it is now I am open to any striker that can add value to the team. If we are clamoring for competition in the defense then we should also do same for the attack.

The other day joebie rolled out a list of defenders he wants to see in camp. Why all the emphasis on the defense? As far as I am concerned by the time Rohr screens out the best of the crop of defenders we have already we are good to go. I am not even rooting for any new inclusion in the defense.

Where I want Rohr to throw in competition is in the attack. Rohr and his crew should monitor Paul Onuachu and Junior Ajayi closely. They may turn out to be better than 1 or 2 of the strikers we have already.

As for Tammy. I think we should leave him out of the world cup. If truly he wants to play for Nigeria his loyalty should be tested with a trip to Libya or Seychelles.

If I give u an incentive there still is no guarantee that u will accept, incentive no be by force oga :-). At the same time it is not all of the players that end up leaving. Over 60% of the players we used in the last CHAN are still in the league, it is just an issue of them getting selected again by the coaching staff. Look at a 33 yr old(lolz) Rabiu Ali finally getting selected for his first CHAN .
Firstly, Rabiu Ali featured prominently in the 2014 CHAN under Keshi. You remember the famous come back against Morocco? He started it.

Secondly, the incentive to stay, you talk about is not just working. Instead the CHAN has become more of an opportunity to leave.

That is my point. AFCON, AYC, CAF U17 etc are major spring boards for players to move abroad.

But you are saying the reverse for the CHAN that it is a major incentive for the players to stay behind. Abi no be so? grin
It has also followed the trend of the other CAF organized tourneys. So if the aim of CHAN is to keep players back in their home leagues, then sorry the aim is defeated.

Chima Akas and Afeez Aremu just got deals with no trial after WAFU cup. That is a rare thing for NPFL players.

Chikatara got a deal after CHAN same with Ejike.

Not everyone will get deals but some will. The exposure will provide opportunities for players to earn good deals abroad.
That is it. What of Shehu Abdulahi, Tunde Adeniji, Gbolahan Salami, Paul Onobi, Ezekiel Bassey, Ifeanyi Mathew, Ugonna Uzochukwu, Daniel Akpeyi, Azubuike Egwekwe? I can go on.

The CHAN is even making them push harder to move abroad rather than being an incentive for them to stay behind.

Rather than the CHAN being an incentive for players to stay behind, like you said,it has remained a major spring board for so many local league players to move abroad. I cannot name the number of players that have found European clubs due to their performances in both the CHAN qualifiers and the CHAN tournament itself.

Ejide started playing for the super eagles when he was in Gabros as a teenager.

Afeez Aremu just got a deal because scouts watched him play in the WAFU cup. Chikatara moved to north Africa on the back of a decent CHAN.

How about giving young potentials that opportunity? No foreign club will buy Rabiu Ali at 40 years. Or Ezenwa/Ajiboye/Afelokhai.. They are old and can't be taught new things.

International exposure at national/club level could also have played an important role in Ejide's move to north Africa.

If he did not get the opportunity at a early age, he might never have moved.

The CHAN tournament should be a discovery/exposure tournament. Get our young talents the needed exposure, that could be critical .
Yeah. That is the point.
