If Keshi could invite Obaobona and Mba who were a credit to the team why not Odey. Keshi and Oliseh destroyed that team. They never invited the best. There were players better than Obaobona and Mba that were ignored and who could have done better than those two. |

TheSuperNerd: It is like you don't get it.... Iheanacho leaving that CF role is not about whether he loses form or not or improves.... He has already shown he can deliver in the role of a CF... hasn't he?
But in the Super Eagles shirt, Osimhen, Tammy, And the other out-and-out no.9s rising will be too good to ignore... and Nacho's talents as a lethal AMF will come Into play to make our attack even more lethal, more dangerous and super fluid....
We will need to structure our Eagles based on our maximal strengths and that will mean Nacho eventually playing off a "fantastic" main striker as an SS or playing in the hole as the AMF... or in a 4-3-3 as the R-AMF otherwise called RWF. Iheanacho has gradually been converted to a striker. He is no longer an AM. I am not saying Osimhen and Tammy should not be included in the team. They have to first prove they are better than the striker we currently have. And as for that AM position dnt think it is so vacant that you can just throw Iheanacho from a striker's position and easily assign him the number 10 role. I am looking beyond Mikel now, Etebo and Iwobi would be capable replacement options in that position and so we can still maximise our strenght. IMHO Tammy and Osimhen would have Iheanacho to contend with for a place in that starting 11. |

TheSuperNerd: Iheanacho won't be a 9 for us in the long run... I have always said that... he will revert to the 10 role and SS role in the Super Eagles shirt... so I didn't omit his name...
Well, Awoniyi is unfortunate... but Osimhen is not Awoniyi.... have Faith Chief Icon4s.... haba!!! you are allowing all the past debacles you have witnessed with exceptional young talents make you wary of this current generation and like I told you before.... I understand you... but you must have faith Sir... come on mehn! Osimhen will have to prove he is better than Iheanacho in that CF position before we say we have to switch Iheanacho to an SS or AM. And you know what thay means: Osimhen has a lot to prove. Except maybe u dnt expect Iheanacho to improve or mayb he loses form. |

goldfish80: Nice read. However, I think Rohr is missing the point. First of, I don't think anyone is asking for Odeh to displace a man city striker. What we are asking for is for Odeh to get a call up to train with the team, that camp experience will rub off on him and the Nigerian league. The experience will also prepare him for CHAN.
We all know how Brazil and Argentina set up their players for big European transfers. Using the media and ex players to make lots of noise. What is wrong in using the national team to boost the profile of Odeh in other to set him up for a transfer? Who knows, this same Odeh could be a very important player for us in the future. His records so far is un paralleled. The NFF will pay Visa fee and buy flight tickets both at this current exchange rate plus camp and other allowances just for him to train with the team in London. E be like say you forget say recession reach every where. Even if i had an opportunity to pick a young player to train with the Eagles it won't be Odey. |

HOW THE NPFL U-15 LEAGUE WILL WORK- SHEHU DIKKO

The U15 Youth League as you know we are working with LaLiga to put it together and the overall objective is to get the clubs to jumpstart their Youth Programs.
Indeed, we have taking note of the School calendar and thus the project is PRELIMINARY planned subject to further amendments to take place on this format.
1. The 20 clubs have been devided into 4 groups.
2. Each club would be required to form an U15 team principally comprising of kids within their catchments area.
3. Each team would be required to appoint an U15 coaches by Jan/Feb 2017. Our advise here is for clubs to appoint much younger coaches to head this department for obvious reasons so we can also use this to build a new generation of coaches.
4. LaLiga would send in experts by Feb/march 2017 to train this U15 coaches on specific of youth players coaching, scouting and Management. You know this is also a speciality field.
5. By march 2017 clubs would have had their teams set up with trained coaches managing them and indeed having their trainings and preparations.
6. By April 2017, when the schools would have been on holidays, the league competition will take place with each of the 4 groups of the clubs converging at a neutral venue to play a round robin league and the top two from each group goes to the quarter final, then we play the semi finals and the finals to have winners.
We can all actualized this within one month. We can also structure the quarter finals, semi finals and finals to be opening matches for some of the top league matches and some might be on TV.
7. During the tournament LaLiga would send out scouts to Look at the boys and also assist the club coaches technically. We believe also our U17 coaches and also the clubs scouts would be looking.
8. At the end an Allstar Team of the U15 will be selected across all the clubs and would LIKELY in the summer be taking to Spain to play in the LaLiga PROMISAS tournament comprising the U15 teams of all the top clubs in Spain among other clubs invited globally.
9. With this done and the possibilities we would be jumpstarting our NPFL youth league and by next season we would see how to increase the number of games and there would be incentive for each club player selected to the U15 Allstar and also for each player that made his club main team within say 2 years.
10. BUT NOTE this structure is the preliminary structure being envisaged and is subject to further amendments based in exigencies of of the situation. So any suggestions can be welcome
11. We have already approached some corporates that are engaging in organizing youth football tournaments to see if they can redirects and situate their sponsorships within this NPFL Youth League structure.

tbaba1234: The door is always open for the best players. #NPFL players must prove themselves with the CHAN team first. I hope that Stephen Odey can get better because I have a @ManCity striker in my team. At the moment we're a winning team, so the #NPFL players must prove they deserve a place in the team. The problem before the Algerian game was becasue the #NPFL players were on break, so we couldn't tell about their form. There is an existing problem with Nigerian based players. We cannot tell their real age. We've not been lucky enough to play many games, so we have to talk with the players and keep in touch. We've committed time in finding full backs. We have an option in Ola Aina of @ChelseaFC , who has committed to Nigeria. We have Tyrone, Madu who may have game time issues, but we're working to get more options. I am confident we can get players. We've made contact with Top executives in the German FA about a friendly, so we could play them. Not everything is about money. I have a good working relationship with @thenff , I have good players too. My assistants are scouting the #NPFL, Imama may have enough time now, we are following the league. I work more for my assistants than I do for myself. They have families and of course they'll be worried if they don't get paid. We have a technical committee that is doing everything to make sure we do well. Nigeria needs more academies, less synthetic pitches. Nigeria is the biggest football nation in Africa, given the passion.

Danycrusoe: Thanks sir Icon4s and Sir Tbaba123456789...... lol I used to and still a supporter of Arsenal fc of London (because Arsenal fcs them plenty for Russia, Argentina etc) but I lost interest in the epl and other leagues sum few years ago,it's been a while I payed or even go to a viewing centre to watch Arsenal play. Since JSS class I always don't wanna miss any Nigerian game be it male and female team even beach soccer, I do beg viewing centre owners to show Nigerian matches but many do turn me down even the 2014 Fa cup final between Enyimba and Lobi stars I begged but they didn't show it. also in 2014 just before my first semester ND 2 exams I watched the u20 women's world cup final match between Germany and Nigeria the midnight which I had exams the following morning it was a loss for Asisat Oshoala and her mates n Nigerians as well but I was consoled by their performance into the exam hall thankfully I had no carryover.
so to me as a Nigerian nothing beats our own thing if its not naija league den it's not making sense. I try and encourage friends to go to stadium to see our local league teams play but many don't heed, well they can keep their Epl I will follow my NPFL and NNL.
Right from primary school I wished I could become a footballer but not an outfield player but as a goalkeeper cuz I am exceptional at that but u know our parents na, if u no be doctor u better be an engineer my dad n mum saw me as an unserious boy they didn't really give me the go ahead they always say: ko mor ju boolu lor, I.e na only ball I know so meeting Rufai is like meeting a mentor n role model.
Thanks for the Advice sir Icon4s I appreciate and also for the compliment sir tbaba1234 I have a dream and plan for the NNL and NPFL even for the National teams as a broadcaster but it's close to my chest.
Only we can build our house ourselves not the oyinbos, when our own league had good followers hip and fan Base in the 80s and 90s the epl was having crowd and hooliganism problems, they didn't wait for Nigeria to help them rebuild their league rather they did it themselves, the same applies to we as lovers of the NPFL and The NNL only we can rebuild our league by going to the stadia and also shunning violence A nice write up. In fact I am encouraged that there is hope for Nigerian local league football. I follow the NPFL but i am sure not as much as you do. I only watch the games shown by Super Sports. And not even live, repeat broadcast. I also select the ones i watch eg games involving Enyimba(my club), Kano Pillars(our perenial title rivals), Rangers(Parade some of our bright youngsters) and MFM(Also parade some ex-junior internationals and upcoming teens). I am making one plea also on behalf of other forumites here. We'll appreciate if u can be coming up with weekend matches preview and reviews. And even write ups on some of the NPFL stars. A lot of us here know little or nothing about what is happening in our local league. Well done , you are a great guy. |
