safarigirl: bros, August is five months away.
The only reason they played that way was because they had achieved cohesion after playing together through six games. That cohesion will not be there by August after the different fragments are re-aligned You are talking so much sense. Recall after Nigeria featured at 2014 WC with all the cohesion we thought we had achieved we got thrashed by Congo PR in Uyo in our very first AFCON qualifiers game. What would matter more in that August clash is the form of players of both teams at that time. |

Cameroon Coach – We Have Defeated Teams Better Than Nigeria. Egypt, Senegal & Ghana Are Better
February 6, 2017 Nigeria
image Coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Arthur Brooks says his team have put themselves in the best possible shape to beat Nigeria when the World Cup 2018 qualifiers resume.
A delighted Brooks told the Cameroonian media shortly after lifting the Africa Cup of Nations title, that there focus will shift to the World Cup 2018 qualifiers tie against Nigeria.
Nigeria are currently leading their group with Cameroon sitting four points behind in second place, but Brooks believes it will be a different ball game when they take on Nigeria in back to back World Cup Qualifiers in September.
” You have to allow us enjoy the joy of this remarkable victory before focusing on other task ahead. We won the trophy in style beating teams like Senegal, Ghana and Egypt in the final”, he said.
” Considering the pedigree of the teams I mentioned earlier are either better or same as Nigeria, it’s normal that if we can beat them in a tense situation like at the Cup of nations, we should also be confident against Nigeria”.

TheGoodJoe:
I think Rohr should work with his tools at his disposal first. With time, he can spread his net to accommodate more youngsters from other regions. And I also feel that for that Senegal friendly, save for 1 or 2 new inclusions he should field our full strength. The team seems to be improving and gelling with every successive match and that momentum must continue as we build up towards the June AFCON Qualifiers and August & September WC qualifiers. TheGoodJoe did you watch the Leicester vs Manunited game yesterday? Did Ndidi play? And how did he perform if he played? |

TheSuperNerd: My Favorite men of the Roaring Indomitable Lions who just conquered Africa for the first time since 2002 and the fifth time in their history......
Meanwhile the Hector Cuper curse continues....
-Fabrice Ondoa (jersey no.1): My Man of the Tournament. The finest goalie at the Afcon. He's just 21. The legends of Nkono, Antoine bell, Sango'o, Kameni Other Camerounian greats between the sticks lives in this fantastic young man.
-M. Ngadeu-Ngadjui (jersey no.5): This guy is like the return of Cameroun's beastly defensive legends all rolled into one. He scores and he defends with power, considerably good pace and grit. Won't want our dear Iheanacho coming up against this dude..... #Honestly He was a marvel to watch and should be bested if we must overcome them over those two legs in Definitely Africa's biggest double header in recent times come August 28 and sept.3rd....
-A. Teikeu (jersey no.4): This dude reminds me of The great and super legendary Rigobert Song.... He may not be the fastest of defenders but he is certainly a rock. Joel Matip cannot break into this team's back four even if he were here... #fact
-Christian Bassogog (no. 13): This dude is a livewire and a menace on the wings. Reason why Clinton N'jie was mostly coming from the bench. Bassogog is one of the break-out stars of this new camerounian generation.
-Benjamin Moukandjo (no. : THE LEADER OF THE PACK. The talisman of the team. The team soars when he does but struggles if he doesn't come to the party. His assists in this tournament especially from freekicks are to be watched closely by Balogun and Ekong or any other defender that will feature in that African super special legendary battle.
-Nicolas N'Koulou (no. 3): Wasn't a starter but his goal brought the Lions roaring back into today's final. NKOULOU AND MATIP SHOULD NATURALLY BE STARTERS BUTTTTTT THE CHEMISTRY AND COMBO OF NGADJUI AND
-Vincent Aboubakar (no. 10): He's one for the big occasion. Have been expecting him to strike a great goal at this Afcon but he chose to do it at the moment that will end Egypt's run of 55 years without losing a final game. The last time Egypt lost an Afcon final was 1962.... Cc: The Super elders... Sirs: Icon4s, Kog45, Tbaba1234, et al
-Clinton N'Jie (no. 7): His wingplay was impressive whenever he was in action. He is a threat anytime anyday and a quality cover for Bassogog.
-Sebastien Siani (no. 15): This was one of Cameroun's most effective midfielders at the Afcon. He's a force in the Lions' midfield and also one of their strong lietenants. But I have to admit... The Nigerian Midfield still edges them in quality.
After all is said and done..... What a year we have up ahead...
Squaring off in a double header against the African Champions and the team that will play at Russia 2017 Fifa Confederations Cup....
Our group in the WCQs and our games against Cameroun coming up soon.... Hmmmm
This is the stuff of legends..... #ThingsJustGotReallyInteresting Cameroun would always be Cameroun. They have played in 6 finals and won 5. That is why they are called the Indomitable Lions. They have a title winning mentality. Going into the WC Qualifiers, Cameroun have done themselves both good and harm. Good in the sense that they have used this AFCON to build a team with a winning mentality together with all the cohesion achieved in different departments of the team. And harm in the sense that the Super Eagles will no longer in anyway under-rate them in the double header clash. Thank God we got to see them at this AFCON, they would have probably taken us by surprise. We have the advantage with a 4point lead. What we need do is to win that game in Uyo and open up a 7points lead. So that at the worst case scenario of losing in Yaoundé/Doula we will still have that 4pts lead with 2 matches to go. A win in our next game against Zambia and they can't catch us again. It is also important for our players to remain in shape till that time. I know we have the team to beat this Cameroonian side. I only now have more respect for them but I dnt fear them. |

TheGoodJoe: From the look of things, Aguero is leaving Manchester City. If Guardiola does not buy a high profile striker to fit that role, do you think Iheanacho should still leave Manchester City? Consider he still has a lot to learn.
cc: Icon4s, Kog45, TheSuperNerd, safarigirl, Joseph1013, lakesidepapa, goldfish80, Xzbit91, BascoVanVeli, terzurum5 One thing I know is if Pep decides to put Iheanacho on the transfer table, there are so many top clubs that would scamper for him. I am not bordered about his development. If he does not get the playing time at City he may get it elsewhere. What I would say for now is lets see how things would turn out for the rest of the season. |

goldfish80: The Egyptians aren't good enough to beat the Camerounians. If you watched how Cameroun out played Burkina Faso and the same Burkina Faso outplayed Egypt.
Judging by this analysis, one will be tempted to tip Cameroun for the win Football is not like: X is >Y and Y is > Z so X is> Z. All three of these teams play typically in different fashions. The Burkinabe's though very enterprising but do not posses that cutting edge and sound tactics to see them through. Cameroun, though tactically better than the Burkinabes and can also be very enterprising, may not have that cutting edge to beat the Egyptians. The Egyptians may not be the most enterprising team in the final four but their tactical depth and edge cutting players would see them through. |

This Cameroonian team though hard to beat but they can't stop Nigeria.
I have watched all their games each for 90mins in this AFCON. They have a good defense and compact midfield. Infact there is avery good cohesion between their defnse and midfield. However, they dnt have good strikers. This could be partly why they've had two draws in the WC qualifying group. I expect them to even get stronger when or if the 8 players that pulled out of the AFCON return to the team.
I expect Rohr to file out an attacking formation of very fast and skillful wingers and a point and kill striker. No room for strikers that would play 3 or 4 chances wide before hitting one on target.
The key is to get an early goal which would destabilize that their cohesion between their defense and midfield, stay compact on our own side and continue to terrorize them with quick counter attacks. God should please keep Moses, Iwobi, Etebo and Iheanacho fit for that clash.
I tip Egypt to beat Cameroun in the final. Our attention should be drawn to how Egypt would unlock that Cameroonian defense line.
Cameroun must fall! |

Tarzaa: Can't wait to see this current squad of the super eagles display their talents as a team as qualifiers begin again. Seriously, I'm seeing the 94 eagles now. Our inability to qualify for the nations cup doesn't call us minors. The egyptions worth that. I sincerly love the way you guys analyse football here. Thanx guys. Thanks for the complement. As par seeing the current Eagles like the '94 Eagles, I would say, No we are not there yet. This team still has a long way to go to attain that level of proficiency of the '94 Squad. We even analysed the current Eagles with the France '98 Squad and we agreed that only 1 or 2 players from the current squad would arguably make the starting 11 of the France '98 team. IMO they are not even as good as the 2004-2006 set that was blessed with players like Martins, Ayegbeni, Utaka, Okocha, Kanu, Osaze, Obodo, Oruma, Babayaro, Taiwo, Yobo, Odiah, Olofijana, Ayila, Nwanneri and the likes. The current squad is talented and have up and coming youngsters. But they are not there yet. |

I've always rated the Egyptians to reach the finals but I don't see them winning the trophy. I expect the curse of Hector Cuper to strike again. The man seems to have pissed on a sacred grave, akin to the curse of Benefica. I will be betting against Egypt on the showpiece game
I like the looks of Bertrand Traore. The young man is so talented. Hope he goes on to have a better career than his injury prone brother Alan Traore. TheGoodJoe:
I am actually seeing a weird side of him too and I am not ready to sway anyone's thought on Pep Guardiola. It is not just Nacho that hurts me but the way he treated Angelino this season. The left back was clearly open. With repeated horrendous performances by Clichy and Kolarov. Yet he did not give the young man a sniff.
Same goes to Denayer who had a successful spell with Galatasaray along side with Virgil Van Dijk of Southampton. Guardiola turned down a return of this young man to Gala and sent him to Sunderland.
Same with Tosin Adarabioyo. With our defensive problems this season, Tosin honestly deserved a shot. With Fernandinho suspended and Fernando injured. How Aleix did not get a shot despite his brilliant performance against Manchester United stuns me.
Just as we spent so much on Stones while we have Tosin, we will spend a fortune on Grimaldo without giving Angelino a chance.
Just like leaving Real Madrid did not stop Eto'o from becoming a legend, I have no doubt, Nacho will blossom. My heart and prayers are with the young man.
As for Pep, I will support him because he is there to run the club. If I say I am happy, then I am telling a lie. He does not believe much in young players. Remember when we discussed about Chidi Nwakali's future with City? Remember my stand point on that issue? - that Pep would rather shop for an established Midfielder than to bring back Chidi Nwakali to solve your midfield problems. You have to still support him cos he is your coach. |
