It is impossible. He is not average. Not in any way. Give him a chance in camp. Prove him average. When we were down two nil to South Africa, the player you tagged average, came in and turned the game around. He scored two goals and you call him average. Form of two years ago. |

The only bad news for Aluko is that i think, we have very good players in the positions that he can play in. Gbam! Finish cc: TheGoodJoe. |

I am disappointed in his play, it does not mean I do not want him to have good games and become our left back solution. I really do want him playing better. That is why I watch Echiejile closely.
#TeamLefti
Ask Nacho. The fealing u have for Echiejile is similar to the feeling Michael2 has for Onazi. U dnt jst see anything good in them. Hate them or love them, Rohr sees them as our bests in their respective positions and that is what matters most. |

Unlike them, Iheanacho is a goal superstar. We need him breaking records with goals. Not passes and crosses. His better games have been as an AM/SS. Most of his goals have also come from such positions. |

What else do you want to see from Aluko? He is one of the best players in the Championship. He made the Championship Team of the week earlier this season.
Echiejile is 28 and he is on the squadlist. Same goes for John Ogu. So how can we use age to restrict a 27 years Aluko.
He has done ebough to merit a call. U first look at the position u are recommending a player for. Are there other players hu are more suitable? Iwobi and Etebor are better options for the number 10 position. Ogu u know is nt likely to start against Algeria. He may not even make the match day squad. Echiejile u know is ahead of other LBs. |

TheGoodJoe: Tick off Coutinho, Hazard, Ozil, Walcott. These are not goal superstars. Iheanacho is a goal superstar and just like Suarez we need him scoring braces and hat-tricks. He can not achieve that in the attack midfield role. Those are the AMs that do the damage in their respective clubs. That is my point. |

Let the camp judge. He plays as a forward now, does not mean his skills died. He played in the wings in some games at Rangers, that did not stop Aluko for putting a good shift in the ten role.
Mikel played for ages in a defensive role. When Keshi put him as a creative playmaker, he did not fail. If Iheanacho is taken away from the number 10 role then we have options like Iwobi and Etebor. Simple. We are building a team that can stay on top for long. So unfortunate that Aluko was dropped when he was at his prime. Just like Oshaniwa. But we have to move on. I cant vouche for Aluko's current form. Let us see him play football first before we invite him to camp. The 24/25 slots on Rohr's list are so precious that we cannot afford to waste one jst to see how the player performs in camp. |

Aluko does. I can assure that. One of the best skillers we have today. His passing is brilliant. You need to review his games under Keshi. He is good at soaking pressure, playing under it and passing too.
He can make runs from the AMF to support the attack and score too. That was like two years back men. When last did u see Aluko play? |

That is why Nacho stays front. After this game, I hope Rohr invites Aluko to battle for the ten role. Mikel keeps the deep-lying role until K. Nwakali, Ifeanyi Matthew and Obinna Nwobodo grow bear-bear. Aluko does not have the kind of creativity to fit into this current setup. Iwobi can play the number 10. We have so many wings options that can take over Iwobi's wing position. |

OdenigboAroli: Nnaa, I watched the extended highlights of that Kelechi Nwakali's club match, and boy what a classy player....The way he touches the boy effortlessly is so beautiful, his dribbles and passes. Kelechi Nwakali is definitely the most talented Nigerian at present. No wonder Arsenal snatched him up so quickly. I am so elated at his development...His attacking qualities are coming out. Lad is a goldmine. His is our Heir apparent to the central midfield position. I expect him back at Arsenal in the next 1-2 years. |

blueto: Mikel is not having a “questionable” form at Chelsea, he hasn't feature in any game this season, so it will be a prejudgement to appraise his form as questionable. It is simply Conte's decision to omit him. As long as he keeps impressing Rohr in trainings and preperatory matches, then he should have his way. So also as long as Ighalo keeps impressing Rohr in training he should also have his way. |

I do not like Echiejile's style of play and he might be the best selected. However, after this game, Rohr must get a better cover for the back. We can not continue this way. We expect the left side of the central defence to put in a full shift covering the massive gaps left by Echiejile. That means he is not good enough.
I really hope Madu has improved. Not watched much of him but we need a bit of freshness. I sincerely hope we can get a better player also or Echiejile improves. Kinglsey Madu for now is not the better option. |

blueto: Yea, one is not suppose to assess a player solely on club form, but we can attest that club form is a major mechanism through which a player is assessed. A player spends most of his playing career period on playing for his club than his country. I believe Messi won his majority of his world best awards due to his contribution to his club than country, and we all withnessed how Yaya Toure was “voted” the best player in Africa ahead of Mikel who won the Afcon for Nigeria because of his club form.
You said we ought to look at the abilities of the player, yes, but what makes a player to perform for both clubs and country? I think the answer should be his “abilities.”
So we can surmise that Ideye has demonstrated his stellar “abilities” in his club and also if given a chance, he would replicate such for his country. We saw how he was behind Emenike's success at Afcon. His style of play will be very apt for Iheanacho, Mikel and Iwobi, creating enough rooms for passing football that will break down the Agerian defense and also allow Iheanacho to push for goals. It was like a similar case with Torres at Chelsea, although he wasn't a banging the goals as expected, but he created many chances at Chelsea and assists.
We need to be innovative agianst the Algerians. At least Ighalo was featured twice against a fellow North African team Egypt and he couldn't justify his selection, so that should give us a clue about his questionable form and shun repeating a similar mistake. Based on ur argument Mikel should not even be on the 24-man list. Ideye that did not even attempt any shot on goal against Zambia. I have known Ighalo for ages and also Ideye. I know what each can bring to the table. |

tbaba1234: EXCLUSIVE: Why Nosa Igiebor And Anderson Esiti Were Axed By Gernot Rohr For Algeria Clash
As the Super Eagles of Nigeria step up their preparations for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers game against Algeria, Owngoalnigeria.com has gotten an insight as to why the duo of Anderson Esiti and Nosa Igiebor were dropped from the list of players for the tie.
The duo as reported by Owngoalnigeria.com are not in the list of 25 players called up for the November 12 tie, which could have a big impact on Nigeria’s leadership of Group B.
Gent of Belgium midfield powerhouse Esiti, whose inclusion has generated lot of debates was dropped due to the presence of utility midfielders in Wilfred Ndidi and Shehu Abdullahi.
Ndidi and Abdullahi can both play as full backs aside their defensive midfield role, with Genk Ndidi also able to play in central defence unlike Esiti who is only at home playing as a defensive midfielder, a role Eddy Onazi has made his personal property since 2013.
Esiti’s pace was another deciding factor as he could slow down quick breaks, due to his lack of pace and inability to play a forward pass unlike the other players in his role.
Meanwhile Igiebor failed to sufficiently justify his call up to the team for the previous games against Tanzania and Zambia, with his performances against Akwa United and Plateau United in two friendly game, no where near what Rohr needs from his midfielder.
http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/10/29/exclusive-why-nosa-igiebor-and-anderson-esiti-were-axed-by-gernot-rohr-for-algeria-clash/ Utility players would always make the team. Ndidi and Shehu are great assets to the team. They are as important as u having a standby generator during a surgical operation. |

TheGoodJoe:
What is most important to me in the full back role is how quickly a player runs up and down the flanks. It should look effortless. Then marking the winger. Then providing crosses and perpetrating runs.
I feel Madu can contribute more after the nightmare Echiejile had. Madu looks more comfortable fulfilling the above attributes.
Although most of my judgment are from his clips. It is different in a full game scenario. Madu needs to pull up a brilliant performance in camp. We need a solid left back option. Echiejile is a no no for me. You may not personally like Echiejile but i can tell u that from that list he is the best player for that position. Baring any injuries Echiejile will start against Algeria. Ekong needs to do well enough to cover up for Echiejile when he overlaps and the LWF can also do well to often break the d attack from the opposition thereby giving Echiejile enough time to recover and move back to space. Onazi also has a great role to play here. |

blueto: Nice formation. But I will pick Ideye to start against Algeria. Ighalo has been having a questionable and erratic form recently, and his failure to meet up to expectation against Eygpt in the two legged games speaks volume.
Ideye has been good for his club side, and he was also instrumental in our crucial win against Zambia depsite his failure to find the back of the net, I'm impressed with his teamwork and responsiveness. You dnt rate a player based on club form alone. U also look at the abilities of the player in question. Based on abilities Ighalo has more to offer. The only thing Ideye did right against Zambia was his involvement in buildup play to Iheanacho's goal. A striker that did not have a single shot at goal. If Ideye was the one that found himself at the end of that build up play that Iheanacho scored, I can bet Ideye would have played it into d keeper's hand. |
