tbaba1234: He is certainly better than Agbo and Alimi.. He is as good as Omeruo, maybe even Ekong. Omeruo is just more experienced in international football. Omeruo team is struggling with relegation in Turkey, Otigba is doing better at the moment.
What makes Omeruo better? As per league football, they are comparable. Omeruo is a more tested defender. U build a defence on trust. For now Omeruo is ahead of Otigba. Let us see him, Otigba, in an international friendly first before making any comparisons. Besides the CB positions are one of the areas we have the least issues. |

cashful: Looking back at the match against Zambia, our defense was cut open left, right and center with relative ease several times.
Thanks to our goalkeeper and the lack of clinical finishers in the Zambian team, we only conceded a goal.
Looking forward to the next match for the Super Eagles against the desert warriors of Algeria, one wonders how we will be able to cope with the arsenal at their disposal and still be able to get a much needed win.
Being a Chelsea fan, I watched with great admiration as Conte changed the fortunes of the team by quickly reverting to a formation that he was used to, rather than the one he met on ground.
The 3-4-3 formation will offer the SE, the width to withstand the Algerians, who build most of their attacks from the wings through mahrez.
It will also offer us an attacking threat that will be very much effective. Lineups Nigeria
Goalkeeper 1. Ikeme
The 3 Central Defenders
2. Omeruo (right) 3. Balogun (left) 4. T. Ekong (center)
The 4 midfield players
5. V. Moses (wing back- right) 6. Echiejile (wing back- left) 7. M. Obi (CM) 8. Onazi (CM)
Attack 9. Ighalo 10. Kelechi 11. Iwobi
What do you guys think? We cannot afford this kind of experiment in a match of this magnitude. |

but, don't count on Rohr playing that formation against Algeria. it may be 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 Uche Agbo ahead of Omeruo? |

I for add Balogun but bundesliga players aren't really in Dream league, only selected ones.
All I am saying is, Otigba is the final jigsaw in our central defence quality options. He's a class-act.

TheSuperNerd: Granada Coach Tips Watford Loanee Uche Agbo To Shine Against Algeria, Reveals His True Position
https://i1.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/image-35.jpg?fit=680%2C420
The fine performance of Nigerian midfielder cum defender Uche Agbo in Granada’s 0-1 loss against Barcelona has earned him praises from his coach Lucas Alcaraz.
Agbo is among the players invited by coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Algeria in Uyo on the 12th of November. A tie Nigeria is looking for victory to consolidate their lead in group B.
The former Nigeria youth international is on loan to Granada from English Premier League side Watford, and despite playing as a defensive midfielder for the majority of his career. He was converted to central defense by former Granada’s coach Paco Jemez at the start of the season.
”He is not a defensive midfielder, although it is his position, he likes to be on the ball and dictate the pace. He leaves me very happy when he plays in central defense” Alcaraz said.
”Uche is a centre back who loves to play from the back and make use of the space in front of him, with the ball at his feet, he always make the right decision."

AIG07: FROM FAYEMI TO IHEANACHO: IT'S 167 GOALS
Pa Dejo Fayemi, the octogenarian now living Ibadan holds the record of scoring Nigeria's first World Cup qualifying goal. He did that when his 50thminute strike reduced the tally to 2-1 in an eventual 4-1 loss to the Black Stars of Ghana in Accra on August 28, 1960. Fayemi scored again in the return leg match in Lagos that ended 2-2. Till date, Nigeria's number of goals has risen to 167 making the Super Eagles the second team behind Tunisia as side with most goals in all-time ranking of scorers among African teams in the World Cup qualifying series.
But on January 7, 2001 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria became the first African side to hit the 100-goal mark in the World Cup qualifiers following a 3-0 defeat of Sudan. The historic 100thgoal was scored by in the 57thminute by Victor Agali when he raised the score line to 2-0. Obafemi Martin's goal against Kenya in Nairobi which brought score line to 1-1 on the road to South Africa 2010 was Nigeria's 150thgoal since that of Fayemi in 1960.

TheGoodJoe:
Just as Iwobi is a wing option, Aluko can play as a wing forward too. He also an option for the ten role. A very good option. I will pick him before Iwobi because of Aluko's ability to attract players to him and create gaps for the forwards. |

TheGoodJoe: Does not change the fact that Aluko is in good form. He might not play for a top team with a fanciful badge but there is no way such quality does not deserve a call up.
If we had a sure quality creative midfielder, Iheanacho would play up front. Aluko is there and he can play comfortably behind the striker. Why limit ourselves? If Iheanacho plays upfront. I would fancy Iwobi to play the number 10 role.Simple. Moses, Musa, Simon and Etebor are all wings options. So, no vacancy. |

forgiveness: Aluko is more skillful than Iheanacho and Iwobi. Fact!
But it (his skills) is inconsequential now because at present, Iheanacho and Iwobi are way ahead of him.
It is a simple thing. That "at present" is what we are talking about. With players like Iwobi, Iheanacho and Etebor in the team Aluko doesn't stand a chance. Rabiu Ibrahim and Joel Obi with all their skills cant also make the team. |

goldfish80: I think Nff and the super eagles handlers goofed big time by inviting Tyrone Ebuechi without running proper background checks to know if the lad had any interest turning out for the eagles. I feel ashamed that a huge country as big as Nigeria is getting turned down by a 20yr old kid publicly. Does it mean the nff never spoke to him or his parents about a call up? Can someone please explain this fvck up?!
This is exactly the reason I always call for a proper re organisation of the Npfl. If our league was formidable enough, we wouldn't be exposed to such ridicule by these foreign born machineries. For what it's worth, this Tyrone guy I make bold to say is not more talented than Chidiebere Okoli (Marcelo) the Rangers full back. Anyone who has seen Chidiebere play, please feel free to come online and tell me you have been disappointed whenever you have watched him play..
To Tyrone, I hope you enjoy your stint with the Dutch side. Its a pity you chose to dump a team with an upward trajectory for another who has stagnated with no exciting prospects in the saddle. Since Van de Vart, Sneijder, Van persie and Robben generation. Netherlands have yet to produce a single super star or a prospect to reckon with. With Nigeria, you will have played alongside Iheanacho, Success, Moses, Iwobi and the likes, but instead you choose to play with Jessen, Depay, Bruno Martins Indi and the likes... I wish you good luck. My people say "Nke mji ka". Meaning the one i have is the best. Can this Ebuehi boy offer more than what Musa Mohammed and Shehu Abdulahi can offer us at RB? Is he even better than Nura Abdullahi and John Lazarus? Nobody even expects him to have a starting shirt against Algeria sef. GoodLuck to him. If him like make he turn to another Alaba tomorrow no him sabi. |

TheSuperNerd: WOLVES KNOW TODAY HOW LONG NIGERIA GOALKEEPER IKEME WILL BE OUT
https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/10/Samm_19_August_2.jpg
English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers will know today the extent of a hip injury suffered by Nigeria goalkeeper Carl Ikeme at the weekend.
Ikeme was forced out in the second half of a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
This is not a good omen for Nigeria ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria as Ikeme is the Super Eagles No.1 choice in goal.
Wolves interim coach Rob Edwards said he is yet to ascertain the extent of the injury.
“Carl was struggling around his hip area which I think came after he stretched to make a save,” said the coach.
“He was having it iced at half time and I don’t know the extent of the problem.
“Hopefully, he won’t be out for too long because he is very important for us.”

The main problem with Aluko is consistency not talent. Aluko carried Rangers and Hull on his back at different points. Some of his assists yesterday were world class. It is just that he is not consistent. Looking at the array of youngsters we currently parade in our forward positions would prefer to include rising players such as Nwobodo, Etebor, Solanke and the likes to an Aluko hu is already on a declining curve. |

terzurum5: [b] Algeria can win in Nigeria - Belloumi by George Akpayen https://images.supersport.com/2016/10/Belloumi.jpg Lakhdar Belloumi
Former Algeria international, Lakhdar Belloumi, is confident that his countrymen can pull off a win in Nigeria when they face the Super Eagles in a 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier on November 12.
The 57-year-old draws confidence from their feat of 35 years ago when Les Fennecs stunned Nigeria 2-1 in Lagos in 1981 en route to qualifying for the 1982 Fifa World Cup finals in Spain.
He believes "that winning on 12 November is certainly not impossible" for Algeria if they play to their strength.
"Algeria have a great footballing history. We've defeated Nigeria more than once. We beat them on their own pacth in 1981 and in Libya in 1982. My message to Riyad Mahrez and Co, therefore, is that winning on 12 November is certainly not impossible," Belloumi was quoted as saying by Fifa.com.
“We will win if we impose our style of play. Our team is powerful and united, and with a little bit of desire and heart, we can return home with three points in the bag.”
The former Algeria manager then deflected the pressure off his country's national team ahead of next month's game, insisting that the Super Eagles are "the ones under pressure."
He explained that the Nigerians will be keen to impress their fans at home and that should put them on the edge.
"On the contrary, I believe the Nigerians will be the ones under pressure as they're at home and playing in front of their own fans," he said.
The 1981 African Footballer of the Year added that Algeria's 1-1 draw in Blida with Cameroon was "a misstep" considering that they have found the Indomitable Lions difficult to play against in competitive matches.
“Our team is very strong. For me, the draw against Cameroon was just a misstep. And we mustn’t forget that Cameroon have a great team and a long World Cup history, and that we’ve never beaten them in an official match. Let’s put that slip-up behind us and concentrate on picking up three points in Nigeria,” he said.
Belloumi played at two editions of the Fifa World Cup in 1982 and 1986 in Spain and Mexico respectively.
