gbosaa: He selected the best for the business and they grew in strength, corrected their errors during the tournament.
They defeated the best teams in the tournament, they played very beautiful football in the final match and they delivered. Emmm but u said after watching them for d first 20mins of dat first match against d USA that they will crash out at d group stage. U also said Croatia were favorites to lift d trophy. Mali easily beat Croatia and Nigeria easily brushed Mali aside. Does that tell u something abt that Cro vs Nig match? I sure u have learnt alot from this tournament. I remember safarigirl too was in hot argument with u on this case. |

Save for Osimhen's silver ball....
Happy for Nwakali, got his MVP just like his name sake and a bronze boot (rather than Silver). Oya Man City, you can come and carry.....or Arsenal preferably So them no reserve anything for Rigo of Belgium - FIFA website's columnist favorite player to watch. At least dey achieved their aim of drawing attention to d player. I wont b surprised, thats d kind of player that sign big contracts. 2Morrow now u go see him for Barca's youth team.Too much racism in football. |

terzurum5: Sir Icon4s, TheGoodJoe and many other persons here had already enlightened me, some few days ago, as to Amunike's choice of players and the reasons behind it, which I quite agree.
However, from the thinking of a non Coach, but a passionate fan with high expectations, I may still ask these questions.
How many of these guys can get average contracts with average Clubsides with what they have shown so far?
How many of these guys can walk in to the next U20 with what they have shown so far?
I know that they may produce the Cup, but what about the future? Though am not God to look into the future.
Honestly Sir, I don't know how many youth competitions you have watched, but with what I have seen, so far hhhhhhhmmmmmmnnnnnn ...................................................................................................................................................... We have better players than 'some' of the players paraded by Coach Emmanuel Amunike. Am not not in any way downgrading the boys and their performance. I am not a Coach, but this is my observation and opinion.
Once more, kudos to the technical crew and the boys as we look forward to going past the Malians this night. U see sir, Stars are not born every day. Problem is u are expecting this crop to b like the last U17. Many of u should go back and rewatch d last U17, they are nt too far ahead of this crop. Mayb bc u watched them at U17 & U20 back to back what beclouds ur mind more may jst b their U20 play. As I said before go back to Manu's boys' U17 matches and u'll see that d deference might jst b dat dat team had more creative and proficient attacking midfielders which this team is not blessed with. As i said before also, stars are nt born every day. It is nt every year that u can come across young talented players like Iheanacho, Yahaya, Success and co. This may jst b d best crop Amuneke could assembly from the academies this time around. And the issue of these boys not getting above average clubs in Europe. That is a blantantly wrong conclusion. In 2001 Nigeria lost to France in d U17WC final. The only players I know dat got any reasonable offers in Europe were Femi Opabunmi(FC Zurich of Switzerland) and mayb Temile Omonigho (one Bulgarian club). These rest na Naija league harvest them. But 2 yrs later, Mikel's set crashed out at d grp stage. I dnt need to tell u the number of offers that came for Mikel, Ogbuike, Okoronkwo, Bala, Promise, Sarki and co. So bro, I love this crop of Eaglets and they are going places. |

safarigirl: they conceded first against the Belgians, if they make that mistake against us, they'll be 3 goals down in 8 minutes.
Our boys score in quick succession too But dey equalised 6mins later. Well, I hope our boys rise up to d occassion. We need this trophy so badly. |

safarigirl: I also rate Mexico higher than Mali.....hopefully the boys will turn up tonight cuz honestly ehn, I no wan hear say another African country beat us to the title...... better for an European or American opponent to beat us than an African, we will never hear the end of it on this continent. My sister, let me frank, I am wary of those Malians. Did u ever watch how dey play?I watched dem for 90mins against Croatia and Belgium. They are usually robust in their pattern, sterving their opponents of ball possession, choking up d game and preventing them from creating chances. Plus dey are early starters. I hope we wouldn't have gone down by 2-3 goals before we wake up as usual after 20mins. Where my hope lies is in d ability of our players to score from all most nothing. |

Nwakali......Yahaya ..............Awoniyi ..............................Osimhen. 4-4-2 Formation. Possible subs: Ezeh Matthew Lazarus Bamgboye Obasi Ebere Okonkwo Coach: Samson Siasia Asst. Coach: Emmanuel Amuneke. I also expect the inclusion of some NPFL players that fall within this age category. I hereby declare the discussions, opinions sharing, counter opinions and of course the arguments open! |
Sports › Re: All The News About The Golden Eaglets (U-17) HERE! by Icon4s(m): 5:47pm On Nov 07, 2015 |
Guys, guys. Baring any changes, I can tell u that Samson Siasia is being prepared as d next U20 coach.
Manu Garba proved he cannot manage the team at that level and the fear is Amuneke may also thow Manu's line. The most experienced youth level coach with d best track record is Samson Siasia.
Now this is the plan: Olympic is in 2016 and next is 2020. Siasia will b free in 2017.So he handles the U20 team and 3yrs later take them to 2020 Olympics. Remember in 2005 he handled the U20 & 2008 the Olympic team and we all saw how successful the two teams were. If not for Messi and Di Maria we would probably have won d U20 & U23 respectively.
I believe if the plan works perfectly well, Nigeria will b a team to watch at Qatar 2022.
Me think this is a good plan by d NFF.

Generals03: I disagree. The 2013 Mexican team is better than the 2015. They were more fluid in their passing and pressing game, and more lethal.
Our 2013 team was great and compact and but still they played great possession football and threatened us once or twice but we were saved by Alampasu. And they kept their foot on the pedal until the final whistle even though they were 3 goals down unlike this 2015 team, playing against a relatively weaker Nigerian defense and could not maintain their tempo when we were leading by a goal.
Remember Ochoa, the striker of that 2013 mexican team? That team was super compared to this 2015. Even mexicans on their forum attest to this fact. They never really saw anything special in this 2015 u17. I still rewatch the final game vs Nigeria on my laptop, the mexican team did PLAY!. Only that Naija u17 team was just too super. They (2013 Naija u17 team) are an enigma. The 2013 Team that lost 6-1 in that opener? |

safarigirl: Napoleon55, you got the bit of Osimhen, but you got the scoreline wrong.
Anyway, bring on the African Champions against the Defending Champions.... after playing bearded men today, we no dey fear Mali.
As for our Mexican wives, we thank them for helping us with 4 more goals to increase our tally to 21
I pray Osimhen does not allow individual glory supersede team glory in the finals. You may be remembered for breaking a record, but even greater, is doing that as a team.
Nwakali, you have silenced doubters and proven yourself worthy of the MVP award your name sake lifted at the 2013 edition. Hopefully, you'll join your brother in City by next year.
Udoh, you may not get the Golden glove, but you're going to be a great goalie for Nigerian Super Eagles some day, like your big bro, Enyeama.
I wish the Golden Eaglets the best henceforth. Playing jaga-jaga football to the finals is awe-inspiring in its self Emmm madam, remember u asked for result and nt fancy football ånd u have got it. |

The 2015 Mexican U17 is better than their 2013 tean While Nigeria's 2015 team is not as good as d 2013 team. And that made it a good matchup.
This Amuneke's team does nt play like a Nigerian side. If u understand how Nigeria typically plays u will understand my point. Nigerian teams typically dance around with d ball with slow buildups. This Amuneke's team can turn defence into attack in less than 5secs!. They are not after ball possesion but direct play and many attempts at goal. Each time d team moves forward u expect something to happen.
One remarkable thing about this team is they are packed with surprises. Eg u were surprised at how dey lost to Croatia.Surprised at how dey scored 3 goals in 5mins against Brazil. Surprised at how Mexico outplayef them in the first 20mins. Surprised at how dey quickly turned a 1-0 déficit plus playing poorly to a 2-1 lead and brilliant play within 8mins. Surprised at how d Mexican right back easily cut throw d defence to equalize for Mexico and surprised too as Ebere scored from almost nothing to make it 3-2.
More surprises await us in the final. I hope they will b positive surprises. |

BascoVanVeli: To that i say "because he could", he was the coach not u or I. Yes he might have gotten proud but can you blame him, he won the ayc with local and academy players, to me even Ivory Coast could have done well at the world cup, the ayc was a very strong competition and he won it quite frankly in an easy fashion. Bulbwa scored what still might be the goal of the year are u saying the boy was not capable of doing the same thing? People shout Iheanacho! but I watched that last game and all i saw was an half chance to Awoniyi we could not move the ball past midfield and that was why he brought in Nwakali who is also a great finisher. To me I always felt Iheanacho would be back in the team but it wasn't Manu's plan to do so against Germany especially at 1-0 and that was because if Iheanacho didn't track back the score could have ended up being 2-0. The boy was not fully fit he had just come back from a more serious than we thought injury, Pellegrini even confirmed that, yea he scored some great goals before he came but I am sure he didn't have to track back the whole game, so we have to give Manu's reason the benefit of a doubt, it is not anybody saying Iheanacho wasn't fit enough, Manu Garba is practically Iheanacho's father any success the boy would have had would have automatically been transfered to Manu, no clear thinking human being would purposely shun Iheanacho u wouldn't and i wouldn't either so how can we say the man deliberately without any reason benches Iheanacho. I remember baby Kanu who got substituted as a substitute and still came back to play in the ayc finals. Sorry i keep bringing this up but i truly and honestly believe Manu was telling the truth, Iheanacho could not have been 100%. A good one bro. And yes Kanu Nwankwo was in the U20 team of 1993, that had Austine Okocha and Taribo West, before he went back to play U17. |
