Udoh conceded 5goals: 1 against Chile, 2 against Croatia and 2 against Mexico. So technically d Malian goalie has it. To me Udoh is a better goalie jst dat the Malians have a better defence. terzurum5:
This Brown Ideye of a guy is seriously bargaining for a possible call up to the national team. He is one of the Super Eagles players with the most consistent performance with their clubsides.
A technical player like Ideye, whose striker partner could benefit from his space opening runs must not be left out for so long.
I still believe he has a lot to offer to the Super Eagles, if called up by Coach Sunday Oliseh in our Subsequent matches. Atleast, he can make a good bench for us. His defensive abilities are never in doubt. He never gets tired even when his mates do. He works for the team even when his offensive moves do not result to a goal.
CC:Icon4s pls beg Oga Coach Sunday Oliseh to invite this guy.
Hahaha, y will I beg Sunday Oliseh. The team of Super Eagles scouts are watching. If Oliseh sees a need for him in d team he will do d needful. But I personally think he has done enough to b given a second chance. If some1 like Odion Ighalo can resurrect and b banging in goals, Ideye can still do it. He can fit into d supporting striker role jst like Iheanacho and Silvester Igboun. So u see we are blessed with options in dat position already. |

achimotan: Congratulations to Nigeria and a big shout out to TheSuperNerd
What has gone wrong is the Black Starlets Management Committee members and the technical team favoring untalented players from teams they have interest in.They make sure their lads are selected to the national team with the view of giving them exposure on the international stage and getting cash when eventually they secure contacts abroad. I have always maintained that Ghana can build its youth teams around West Africa Football Academy which is affiliated with Feyenord of Holland and Right to Dream Academy which has a partnership with Man City. But parochial interest of some officials will not let them recruit largely from these academies because when they excel on the international stage they will not benefit financially.
The under 15 of Right to Dream Academy has been excelling in tournaments in Europe .Just this year they have won 2 cups in tournaments they participated in Europe. What stops us from forming the next national u17 squad around these boys
Right To Dream Academy U15 win 26th edition of Marveld International Tournament This was May this Year
Right to Dream Academy U15 won the Marveld International Tournament after beating Arsenal FC 4-0 in the final.
The Akrade-based side topped their group with victories over Manchester United, PSV and Feyenoord.
They went on to beat Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam on penalties in the semi-final.
Right to Dream have become the first winners from sub-saharan Africa to win the 26-year-old youth tournament.
Right To Dream U15 beat Genoa on penalties to win 2015 Manchester United Premier Cup . This was July this year
Right to Dream Academy beat Genoa 4-3 on penalties to be crowned 2015 Manchester United Premier Cup World finals Champions.
Both sides failed to score in normal play and extra-time at the AJ Bell Stadium in Manchester.
Right to Dream quickly settled into their usual, attacking, fast-paced rhythm in the NIKE sponsored tournament and, despite an exhilerating display from the Ghanaians, the Genoa midfield remained steadfast in defense and continued to look dangerous on the break.
The 0:0 scoreline at the end of normal play did not do justice to the scintillating football from both teams. Extra time was followed by penalty kicks in an effort to separate them.
A missed penalty from Right to Dream generated groans around the stadium, but it was their goalkeeper who eventually saved the day 4:3 to ensure that the title, and the trophy, finally travelled to Ghana.
Coach Frazer Robertson: “I am so very proud of my boys. They are all very skillful of course, but they showed great determination and character throughout the tournament. We had a couple of lucky breaks in the early stages, and then worked hard to capitalise on them.”
Well spoken. But it should take more than one academy. Ghana just like Nigeria are known to be blessed with some of the most technically gifted youths in Africa and d world at large. The difference btw the two country is that we Nigerian treat our Bleep-ups. We dnt tolerate mediocrity from our national teams, footballers and coaches. Any1 dat messes up we call for his head. Unlike u Ghanaians that are so blinded with blind patriotism.Eg u guys still feel u are d greatest footballing country in Africa when ur black stars have nt won anything for d past 33yrs! In Nigeria we go to d stadium to boo any team or coach dat does nt perform. If u believe ur GFA officials are responsible for d colapse of ur U17 structure can't u guys voice out? Take ur complains to d sports minister or president. Boo ur FA officials at match venues and tell me whether heads will nt role. |

terzurum5: The Rise of Solomon Otabor Viv Solomon-Otabor capped off a 5-2 win against Fulham at the weekend with his first professional goal. Running from inside his own half, the Nigerian youngster forced Richard Stearman to backpedal for 40 yards before cutting back inside, dumping the Fulham defender unceremoniously on his backside in the process and lashing home from inside the area.
It’s been a meteoric rise for the youngster, who made his debut in the League Cup win over Gillingham at the start of the season having impressed in pre-season training. Now the winger, signed from Crystal Palace as a 16-year-old is in the Nigerian u23 squad for their upcoming qualifiers in Senegal and potentially on the verge of a new deal.
I think it’s easy to lump Solomon into a pattern of youngsters who have made it in recent years – Nathan Redmond, Demarai Gray and to some extent Koby Arthur all made it into the team as a tricky winger with the skills to get past opponents but Solomon is not that similar to them.
While he is a winger, Solomon is taller, stronger and probably quicker than Gray it’s that raw power that has seen him set people talking about him. I saw Solomon play for the reserves several times last year and in the last couple of months he particularly impressed me with how much he had come on in using his pace and power to beat people.
I think Solomon has benefitted from Dimmy (who is actually six months younger than him) being in the first team in that it gave the London-born youngster the chance to get a run in the development league and to build his skill there when he might have been competing with Demarai for a place. i’m sure he will have also seen how Dimmy has kicked on, improving on his game as he’s made more appearances and will have taken note that if he is to follow the same path he is to do the same.
Solomon is in a strong position now; with Gary Rowett sticking to his “small and tight” squad philosophy and having shipped out Mark Duffy out on loan to Burton it has given the teenager an opportunity to make the bench – something he has grasped with both hands. His cameos have all shown fleeting examples of what he can do and no doubt will have given Rowett food for thought about how he could cope with injuries like the one David Cotterill has recently sustained.
Although one of the biggest steps has been completed in making it to the first team, the next step is the hardest; maintaining that level of consistency to keep his place in the first team squad even when everyone is fit. For me, Solomon now needs to work on repeating what he did to Richard Stearman – driving back tiring defenders and forcing them into mistakes to create openings. The more he can do that, the more he is a real plan “b” off the bench and a potent weapon to change games. www.oftenpartisan.co.uk/archives/14509/the-rise-of-viv-solomon-otabor-2.html All these English tutored averagely talented players playing in lower leagues sef. Well hu knows? safarigirl: there is no MRI in U20, so if there is ever an avenue to cheat, it's right on that stage.
Most of the players assembled for U20 are usually not from the U17 crop, Nigeria made that naive mistake this year and were hammered.
So, any team that doesn't perform in the U17, cannot magically get better in U20 with the same players. They just get new players who are usually older. Hmmm I like the content of ur second paragraph. I guess we learnt that from the last U20. That was exactly my concern going into that tourney. While other teams were parading 19-20 yrs old full pros we were parading 17-18 yrs old academy players. Similar to whar happened in 1987 only dat this last set performed better I believe d next Flying Eagles will b more experienced and matured. I mean tell me dat Awoniyi, Mohammed, Yahaya, Ezeh, Matthew & Idowu will nt bring in professionalism, more experience, & maturity in their game play when dey play at 2017 U17. Considering also fact dat Kelechi Nwakali, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, & co would have been hooked up with professional clubs though most may still b in d youth teams of those clubs. But trust me, Nigeria still will nt be favorites in 2017 U20 WC. We may jst b hopeful of a better outing dan 2015. Well, lets go discuss more of this at the 2017 U20 thread. |

Jiggaman2: First of all, I have never been the one to start insults but I do however finish it.
Back to football Ghana not performing well in under 17 means our young guys are not performing as they used to be, maybe it has something to with management or whatever but it surely doesn't mean we are cheaters.
I still believe many of the guys that played in the under 17 cup where overage but that's another story.
These under 17 boys are the same group that gets promoted to the under 20 and I can say we perform better than most African countries on the world stage.
Argentina used to be a force in under 20 World Cup but as we can see they have taken a step back, why aren't we saying Argentina lack of performance is due to age cheat. See my brother, age cheating was rampant in the whole of Africa(especially west and central Africa) and South America. One thing that baffles is that Nigeria has gotten better without age cheating. Meaning we needed not to cheat in d first place. And I think Ghana can borrow a leaf from Nigeria. I dnt know what developmental structures u guys have in place in ur country bt Nigeria has several well established and funded football academies where these Boys are usually drawn from. As we speak d next batch of U17s hu are currently 14 & 15 yrs olds are already in d production line waiting to be released. Mali employed a German technocrat to develop a youth programme for d country and u see what sey have achieved jst 2yrs into d programme: an U20 bronze and U17 silver. The current crop of Mali U17 was assembled since they were U15 & u saw d result. A country like Ghana needs to rise and give Nigeria a fight. It's getting too boring for us u know. Imagine we have won 3 out of d last 4 editions we participated and played in the final in all d 4. We need real competition u know. |

Jiggaman2: That doesn't mean Ghana Was cheating. It simply means Ghana under 17 is down at the moment because the MRI was introduced to under 20 African cup and Ghana has always performed better in under 20 World Cup than Nigeria.
We will get back to our winning ways in under 17. Firstly, let me say akwaba to u. And let me also inform u that here(joseph1013 threads) unlike other threads we analyse football without insults. Badosqi: Congratulations to our boys for making us proud. Now is the time to win the elusive U-20 championship. Amunike and his coaching crew must have learnt a lot from what happened to manu and his boys at the last U-20 tournament.
We must add the likes of Ezeh, yahaya, awoniyi and others in the age bracket to our team. If and only if they are good enough and performing excellently well in the clubs. We need experience in our team, we should not just going in with 18 year olds like we did with Manu's boys. Some good 19-20 year olds should join the boys and we could easily get them from the 2015 set. Very good. Excellent. Perfect. What's d next word. |

tbaba1234: Opportunities should be given to all Nigerians wherever they might be... We should select the very best... We should not just rely on the 2015 winners because they will be playing with guys that are older than them by more than 1 year... A strong team can be built by introducing Yahaya, Ezeh, Awoniyi , and all those in the last set that are still of age plus good players from europe and the local league. Yes We have learnt. Knowledge comes with experience. This ur line of reasoning was what I tried to pass down at 2015 U20. Major reason for our failure. Same with Chile 87 bt we corrected it at Saudi 89. I believe our 2017 U20 team will b too hot for d rest of d world: Combining 2013 U17 with d best of 2015 U17 plus some other players doing well elsewhere.
