chrisooblog: that iheanacho will do well in belgium or anywhere else is just theory for now you can't go into a tournament hoping a player will rediscover good form especially when he has not done anything in recent times to suggest otherwise. if iheanacho had been doing well in the GWG i would have given him a pass but being poor for club and country at the same time? mbanu! i repeat national team is not a rehabilitation center.
osimhen, onuachu, onyekuru, ighalo even controversial awoniyi have all been on fire recently.
now i'm not saying iheanacho can't get back to his best form but i'll rather the chances of the super eagles doing well at this year's AFCON are not jeopardized because of one man.
How are you also sure that he will not do well in Belgium or Russia. Nobody is saying the national team is a rehabilitaion centre.
Honestly, I know if Rohr had a better option he would not have invited Iheanacho. Period! After all he dropped Success.
Meliforme: If Onyekuru happens to be a player at Man City, he will be ahead of Mahrez in the pecking order. Onyekuru trumps over Mahrez in speed and finishing.
Look I am not ruling out the possibility of Iheanacho having a poor AFCON outing. Just like I cannot rule out the possibility of any other player having a poor AFCON outing.
But you ruling out Iheanacho even before Camping opens is a no-no. Let's wait till we see a couple of pre-AFCON friendlies and then we can know the players that are likely to be dropped. You cannot be so emphatic about your expectations at this stage.
chrisooblog: fair enough points however remember before musa was named in the world cup squad he moved to russia where he got good game time and regained some form but in iheanacho's case he has been poor all season.
so expecting a player going through a poor run of form to suddenly find his scoring boots during a crucial high profile tournament like the AFCON is a bit of a stretch when you have available options who are on fire.
plus as poor as musa was in the national team before the world cup he was still getting assists here and there whereas KC's last reasonable contribution to the super eagles was way back in december 2017 against argentina
Musa's ability to deliver in another system tells you he still got it in him. Move Iheanacho to Belgium or that same Russia and see whether he will not hit the ground running. Football is not what a lot of you here think it is. Players develop these abilities over decades and such abilities cannot just varnish within a twinkle of an eye. Being that Iheanacho does not see much game time doesn't mean he also sits on the bench in Training.
And on the bolded please tell me the Firing players that were the available options.
elyte89: Dts d last straw/campaign strategy now for him to b on d plane to Egypt...after d worldcup, wheneva he's invited, d reason given to us den was DT,even though he's not playing @his club,he's d only player in eagles dt can play/score freekick ,like say na 50fk d guy dey score per match
Now its world cup experience... Can we call dt an experience or just to add up numbers, when d two strikers we took to d world cup could only manage 2shots on target...odas were off wide mark,is dt an experience or a competition to forget off easily
Oga icon4s we knw say u get soft spot for nacho,u could av simply said u want to c him at afcon,no offence, dont start pulling out any reason for him to b dere,it will only make u unserious,we all knw he doesn't even deserve to b on d provisional list to start with and we all knw rohr might not drop him
Is eida u go back to ur former campaign of him been d best set piece taker in eagles or remain silent
No b only world cup experience.... Mtweeeeeh
Now, this is where you guys got it wrong.
Firstly, if you have been long enough on this thread you will know I am not a '' Fan Boy'' of Iheanacho. In fact I am not a Fan boy of any player. I will say the only player I have a soft spot for is Alex Iwobi and this is due to my status as an Arsenal fan. So I can hammer any player here without blinking. I am only for excellence and not mediocrity.
Secondly, can you categorically tell me that Ahmed Musa had a better season leading to the WC than Iheanacho had this season. Musa that was kept out of Leicester's match day squads for months and was demoted to the U23s. The last time Musa did anything of note in the national team was then 2014 WC. He was abysmal during the 2018WCQ as he only got cameo appearances in some games.
I know how you guys criticised Musa's inclusion here but some of us still had Faith in his abilities because we know what he can do if he hits full gear.
Now on Iheanacho, the coach has selected him amongst the 25. Yes, he didn't have a good season but he is a lot better than how Musa was leading to the 2018 WC. Like I said before, you cannot discredit his world Cup experience because he featured prominently in it even though he didnt score a single goal. You and I know what Iheanacho can do if he hits gear.
For me if Iheanacho can apply himself well and fit into the coach's philosophy he should be in Egypt.
raindodger13: I was just thinking about him. I looked at his page a few days ago, and it turns out he hasn't been on here since december. He's probably busy.
Icon4s: This was the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos where the Final of the 1999 WYC was played. Nigeria, what is wrong with our maintenance culture?
Honestly, we have not progressed from where we were in 1999 in terms of facilities. No be say anything we cannot put up this kind of tournament under this present dispensation
Oasis007: If Bayern Offer for Onyekuru is legit, I advise him to accept it 100%. Ribery and Arjen are leaving the Club, they are unable to get their primary Target (Odoi), hence this is an Opportunity for him to shine on a bigger Stage, coz I expect him to be a Starter.
I just have this double feelings about Onyekuru's Bayern Move.
Yes, it will give him the necessary exposure but I also hope he can apply himself well and fit into the coach's philosophy. On expecting him to be a starter I am not quite sure until Bayern completes their end of season acquisitions. Bayern is a great Club and it takes an exceptional player to be a starter at Bayern. IS ONYEKURU THERE? Hmm...I am not sure o.
busky007: May u never disappoint like iheanacho .May u be brighter than Rashford .May ur performance give naija football fans orgasm like Messi . Happy birthday Samuel Chukwueze
He will definitely be elligible to play the next U20 with his future team mates who are still playing U17 . Then he will no longer look like a toddler.
