forgiveness: Did Onigbide dropped Opabumi a LW for Aiyegbeni a Striker?
Opabumi won the silver boat(5goals) and the silver ball as a winger despite not winning the tournament. What is the difference?
Osimhen won Golden boat (10 goals) and the silver ball as a Striker.
As you can see, It was never higher.
So, I ask you again.
Why didn't you give the same reason for Opabumi when Onigbide picked him at first? Or Opabumi wasn't a 'special talent' as at then? How many months after playing U17, as a 16 years old, did Onigbinde invite Opabunmi for camping for a major event like the WC? Barely 6-7months. What level of his game had he developed from few months after the U17 WC? It was just like taking Osimhen to the WC in 2016 if it was held that year. See u comparing Opabunmi's case with that of Osimhen who was invited for an AFCON qualfiers (not even a WC o) after almost 2 years after playing U17 and having signed a senior professional contract. The Nigerian press had every reason to ask questions about Opabunmi's inclusion. And what was the Coach's answer? "He is my boy". |

forgiveness: Icon4 is inconsistent.
Today a player is special talent but tomorrow a player is inexperience. That's is just the double standard used to determine who plays in the 'National' team.
Even if Awoniyi scores 100 goals he will not make the 'National' team. Osimhen has graduated from being just a "special talent" to being a Senior Team player with steady improvement in performances. He has Paid back the faith the coaches had on him by his recent performances. If Awoniyi can be consistent and keeps on improving he will also get a look in. The national team is for all Nigerians. |

How come you had a different reasoning? Who are the experienced strikers we have in the super Eagles now? Onigbinde dropped Yakubu Aiyegbeni and took Opabunmi to the world cup. Besides, Osimhen's rating at U17 was higher than that of Opabunmi. Which Nigerian U17 Player has ever scored a double digit in a single tournament? Osimhen is highest ever goal scorer at the U17 WC. Talentwise both players are not at par. Mind you , if you are fair with ur reasoning, all along I have been against Osimhen's early inclusion into the national team until he proves himself at senior club level. You cannot hinge on Osimhen's call up to keep crying over Awoniyi's exclusion. Both players are currently not on the same pedestal. |

Pls give me the full compliment of U23 starting eleven cos sometimes “i no dey understand how we dey” rate our players.
Some are special talent abi and whether they perform or not they deserve call up and non special talent need to work their socks off to get invitations.
If Osimeh,Iheanacho,Success and Kelechi Nwakili are special talents then Awoniyi is what
Boss truth be told Awoniyi deserve a place in eagles 25 man squad. @ ur second to the last paragraph, well it looks like the coaches don't see Awoniyi as such (no offense intended,) that is just what it is. Even Success who plays in a more competitive league didn't make the squad list. I laughed when I saw a commentet like "Rohr is not in charge". Even if you Sir Kog45 draws a 25man list your list will also be criticized. That was a very fair list from Rohr in my opinion. Good morning all. |

You claimed Awoniyi can't score in an U23 competition but you were wrong.
In 2017 Osimhen was called to the national team, how many goals did he score?
That was how you claimed Iwobi was better than Dele Ali but the rest they say is history. First off please when did we ever have an Iwobi vs Dele Alli argument here? Talking about Awoniyi we are talking 2019 here. Awoniyi couldn't score in a 2019 U23 qualfiers and the Osimhen u are trying very hard to pull down because of him scored 3. That is what we are discussing here. I have told u Osimhen is a special talent which was why Rohr picked him early. You cannot say same for Awoniyi who has even been struggling with form for a couple of years now. |

I ask again. How many goals did Osimhen score before he was called into the National team? Taiwo Awoniyi never scored in any Olympics qualfiers. That game u are referring to was an All African game qualfier. Awoniyi and Osimhen were dropped mostly because of their age and stage of development then. You can not in any imagination use that game of 2005 to call for Awoniyi's inclusion into the SE in 2019. If we have our full compliment of players who are U23 today Awoniyi will not be in starting 11. |

The U23 qualfiers would be early in June, except if we expect our U20 team to crash out early I see them still being in Poland then. Since Chukwueze is not part of the U20 party then he should team up with the U23 team alongside Osimhen and other Eligible SE players. |

Etebo was already in the national team before Rohr became our coach.
Ezenwa is not in the national team on merit.
Taiwo was already in the spotlight long before Osimhen. Please find another excuse. Ordinary U23 qualfiers, for the two legs Awoniyi couldn't do anything. Osimhen came in the return leg and scored 3goals. Is that not enough proof that Osimhen is on a higher pedestal than Awoniyi? That U23 qualfiers was Awoniyi's golden chance to prove he was ready for senior national team football and everyone knew it. But he blew it. Okeleke even came in and within minutes he scored. tbaba1234: Taiwo was one of Africa's best left back so when i say he started a decline, it is against that statement.
Taiwo had a good 2010-2011 season but he started his fade in the 2011/2012 season. (Note: I said, it started. he was not completely finished) His premier league showing was not close to his high standards and by the time he went to Ukraine the next season, his stats showed significant drop. He used to get 4-5 goals in Marseille at least. He could not score a single 1 in the Ukrainian league.
By 2014-2015, When he was supposed to be 29/30. He could not make his turkish team starting line-up and was sold to Finland. I align with this statement |

tbaba1234: This is not exactly true for other countries.
Yes, not everyone will be at national team level but several play at a good level and retire. For instance, a former england youth international can play in the Championship all his career without being good enough for the national team.
In our case, it is easier for ex youth international to play at national team level because of a lack of an established league that throws up talent all the time. Many of our players fade when they are supposed to be getting to their best. Even the ones that had a very good start and even career. In 5-8 years, you imagine these guys should at their best but they are getting ready to retire. My brother that is why we are not at the same level as the France, Brazil, England, Spain, Germany of this world. But I can still tell you that the Nigerian Youth system has produced a very good number of superstars. We are not there yet but we are not the worst in the world. My own is for the national teams to create an excellent scouting system for us to better optimise the relatively few mother nature has churned out to us. |

tbaba1234: 2011 under 20... These players are supposed to be in their prime now... 28 years or less.
Omeruo, Azeez, and kayode still play in decent leagues. Musa is in Saudi, Ajagun in Cyprus at "26".
The rest have disappeared.
Goalkeepers: Danjuma Paul (Nasarawa United), Kazim Yekini (Kwara United), Gideon Gambo (Sharks)
Defenders: Kenneth Omeruo (Standard Liege/Belgium), Chiemezie Mbah (Warri Wolves), Gani Ogungbe (Gateway FC), Emmanuel Anyanwu (Enyimba), Terna Suswan (Vitoria Setubal/Portugal), Felix Odoh (First Bank Lagos)
Midfielders: Philemon Daniel (Kwara United), Abduljaleel Ajagun (Dolphin), Sani Tahir (Vejle/DEN), Ramon Azeez (Almeria/SPA)
Strikers: Ahmed Musa (VVV Venlo/Netherlands), Uche Nwofor (Enugu Rangers), Bright Ejike (Sharks), Olanrewaju Kayode (Asec/Cote d'Ivoire), Sani Emmanuel (Lazio/Italy), Omo Ojabu (Dolphin), Terry Envoh (Sharks), Egbedi Edafe (unattached) Same thing if you look at players from other top Countries that participated in that tourney. Out of a whole squad list you can hardly get up to 4 or 5 players that are doing it at top level. That is the reality with youth football. In my opinion if we can have 3-4 players from every successive U20 moving to do well in descent leagues we should be ok. In a period of 6 years you can have at least a top 11, all playing in descent leagues. Of course there would also be some other players who didn't play youth football and would still go ahead to achieve great things who will also join them in the SE. |

How can a stupid man celebrate an eagles player being injured because he don't like the player, say that person get sense ?
Are you this bias to see such ?
Make una respect una self for this thread o ,shebi some of una na elders
I have argued with so many people here ,I have my bad side also
But anybody that celebrate a super eagles player being injured is a BASTARD
If you see truth talk abeg Firstly Iheanacho had a poor WC outing and I don't think there is anyone here who thinks otherwise. Ighalo just like Iheanacho also had a poor WC outing but the reason Ighalo received the highest bashing was because of that miss against Argentina. That singular miss was largely responsible for our early WC exit. And i don't see anything wrong I the criticism he received because of that. If it was Iheanacho that missed that Golden opportunity am I sure he would not have been spared of the criticisms either. So I still do not see any Tribal connect in this case. On celebrating of players' injury I have had it hot with peeps here in times past when they celebrated Ezenwa and, Iheanacho's injuries. These are two other players who are not in the good books of people. Celebrating a Nigerian player is highly condemnable but so also is calling someone a "BASTERED". |

If i tell una say some of our players reduce age, many of una go say i no get proof Talking about Mikel and David Luiz, it is a lot easier for Defenders to still keep doing it even after clocki 30+ but not so can be said for most Midfield and forward players. Age cheating is another subject matter but once most players hit that 30yrs mile stone, they start struggling. andrew444: Brendan Rodgers reveals his plan for Kelechi Iheanacho at Leicester City
Brendan Rodgers has revealed how he plans to develop Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and restored his lost confidence.
The Nigeria international, who was criticised for missing a good chance late on in Monday’s defeat at Manchester City, has had a disappointing season and has only scored twice this season in 36 appearances, although the vast majority of those were as a substitute, and his last goal came in September in the win over Huddersfield Town.
Rodgers admits a loan switch so the 22-year-old can get more game time, start scoring some goals again and get his confidence back, could be an option for him, but Rodgers believes there is still plenty of potential to improve and develop the young City striker.
“It’s a possibility, it’s not something I’m thinking about,” said Rodgers.
“He’s a boy that’s just got to where he’s got to on his pure natural talent.
“He’s played some games for Manchester City and we’ve seen what he can do in his few appearances there.
“I think when you come into a club like here with a hefty price tag, maybe you can try and force things too much as young player.
“Normally after that that season of adaptation then things can happen for you.
“Look at Divock Origi, he’s a classic example of a young player coming in to a big club, although Kels is a bit older.
“There’s always that possibility[of a loan]. However, my plan for him is to build up his confidence in this last period.
“Whether on Monday it was being back at his former club, he probably just snatched at the chance when it came, but my job is to rebuild that confidence.
“That’s what I do.
“Then hopefully in pre-season, he’ll hit the back of the net and get the sensation of scoring again. And by the start of the season we have a player who has the confidence.”
Rodgers certainly believes Iheanacho has plenty of potential to develop and he suggested he may look at a change of formation in pre-season so he can play both Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy.
“There’s no doubt there’s something there we can work with,” he added.
“That’s what gives me great confidence.
“At times, we’ll look at a different system that allows us to have two strikers up there.
“If he’s playing with Jamie that’s a really good balance.
“In previous clubs I’ve played a diamond, I’ve played 3-1-4-2. The idea when I came here was simplicity, give the clarity. and when they grasped the concepts then you can start to develop that.”
