BascoVanVeli: I am still not impressed with the coach dropping Ogbu.
Same here. IMO he was the 3rd best performing player in that AYC Team, just after Ozornwafor and Oremade. I just hope the current Ozornwafor's CB partner justifies his inclusion.
Kog45: Icon Icon Icon! How many times did I called you?three times abi.
Pls you are Elder here and time to leave some arguments for them cos they will never understand until they get there.
Really surprised to see some notable member of this great thread talking about age cheats as if it just started and as if it only happen in football.
I remember Kokmne always saying don’t go there cos nothing we can do about it due to our bad system.
It is a pity that this always happens and do we blame the boys for this?it was what their parents did and are still doing in civil service by reducing their age to stay long in the service.
When it comes to age cheat,Nigeria is a poo and it cut across all sectors.
I have never ruled out age cheating in our football circles. I am close enough to the national team circles to affirm there is age cheating. But what i have always maintained is that it is not as prevalent as peeps here term it to be. I know a couple of ex- internationals that used their real age yet some peeps here will argue they are age cheats just based on facial looks.
It is on this same thread that we battled to defend the ages of players like Iheanacho, Success, Awoniyi, Chukwueze etc even despite we knowing how difficult it is for Players to cheat the MRI. Even the current Golden Eaglets, watch how they will come out again as start pointing age cheat fingers at them in the U17 WC or a couple of years time.
I do not rule out the possibility of age cheating in this Flying Eagles, but I will always get my facts before pointing fingers.
Morever, this is an internationally read thread and so we must guard our utterances.
That said I am not in argument with anyone whatsoever on this Flying Eagles matter. Anyone who finds there faces disturbing can as well go for walk while our game is on
gamaliel9: We have been trying a lot ooo...since mri debuted Ghana has been undone.....JUNCTION=JANSHAN... Guinea buried..only Mali has progressed but still below us
Guinea too are still trying. They have participated in most of the recent U17 WCs, post MRI introduction. Asides Ghana, Brazil and Argentina too have also been greatly affected. It has even helped Nigeria the more, meaning we didn't really need to cheat in the first place.
Thank you my sister. How can he say the only Bright side is taking a 17 years old player to an U20 WC.
Me I am already looking forward to seeing him at the 2021 WYC as he may not likely get game time in this one. We don't even have a goalie with the present U17.
Humility017: the only problem here is oga Basco and Icon believing Nigeria players to be truly under 20.... even making reference that because of the street life and hustling the awka ibomites age faster.... same awka ibomites I know with plumb shape and baby face... all over in Benin.
See, some of those boys na '' wowo'' cause am o.
You know that looking fresh and handsome makes someone look younger See how fresh those Europe based players look See Oforboh, Michael and even Dele-Bashiru even as he dark he still looks fresh
Compared to the likes of Offiah, Effiom and Oremade
mank1234: Even if we loose all 2 games we'll still qualify.
Yes but depends on the goal margin of the loses. We did our selves that very big favour by beating Qatar by that 4-0 margin. A draw in any of our next 2 games will confirm our place in the next round.
Humility017: but you see...the chances of age cheating in US, Canada and western Europe is almost not possible.... the technologies there and the free information/independent communication channels or mass media will expose the fraud in no time
I laugh when I see some peeps here say that some players in the US and Qatari teams age-cheated. Just by looking at their faces. Same way they are pointing fingers at some Nigerian players. Ok o.
Humility017: Qatar may just be the whipping boys in this group... I seriously fear for for our RB back and Defense... hope we improve because should we play like we did yesterday we may get punished. one thing I noticed about the European teams in this tourney is that...they seems to be very technical...unlike the S.Americans looking so skilful and with their high pressing games.
I see the possibility of 3 teams making it out of this group....
I guess you probably meant '' they seem to be very tactical''. That is typical of European teams. Tactics and efficiency. You saw it even with Ukraine Yesterday.
African and S/American teams are often more technically gifted.
South Africa is playing Argentina today. An interesting game to watch
fabyom: I did my NYSC there also. Community Grammar School Afaha Obong. However, I did not see any 19,18 or 17 year old look like that.
Did mine in Community Secondary School, Nkek, Ukanafun LGA. I did see a lot of ''old boys'' in class and wondered whether they were actually still less than 20. At least a couple of peeps here have acknowledged this fact. They, especially those that grew up struggling, look older than their ages.
safarigirl: so, because the team faces an imminent ban, I should not watch them while they are there?
As long as Nigeria dey any tournament, I will watch, even if I dislike the team.
So if they are banned as you so wished will you still have the opportunity to watch them?
Abeg, no dey wish any Nigerian team bad.
Even among those players that look older than their age, there are still a good number that look young.
I am not after the entire team progressing well to senior level but if we can get up to 4 or 5 players here that can go ahead to achieve their potentials at senior level, fine. And for the sake of those ones we should wish the team well to the end.
We have already started seeing the good prospects amongst them.
Still on the Flying Eagles... TBT 1987 set: Akani, Odiaka,Uwe,Osaro,Igbinabaro, Okosieme, Siasia, Adeolu, Etim, Oliha, Okon, Igbinoba, Niketien,Ugbade,Ukaegbu and co for the '87 team.
If all it requires for one to make the squad is training consistently and getting few minutes of actions here and there while relying on past exploits then we're encouraging mediocrity.
Nacho needs a drives to push high up there, rewarding his mediocre performances with a position in the squad is by all definitions counterproductive.
Humility017: the few game time he had he misused it...
I doubt oshimen will miss that seater he got against man city... a monkey in Nigeria will still be a monkey abroad....
you can't draw up the assumption that a player who failed to perform in England will do exceptional in the Belgian league...
the reason for nacho regression is because of indiscipline and he is not self driven... any player with such mindset will barely do well even in Indonesian league.
so how sure...are we that his presence in the super eagles during the AFCON will not go distract other reasonable and hardworking players? how sure...are we that nacho properly understand the task ahead and is not to go have fun and joke around in Egypt?
I want Rohr to excuse him from the team and pick players who properly understand the task at hand....
none of oshimen and Paul should be dropped for him... this tournament means so much to the above named players and their development
Bros, lets not be too hasty to draw a conclusion on the young man. Wait till camping opens at least.
