You ain't lying, bro. I was watching the Nigeria VS Egypt match again this morning and kept trying to understand why/how Siasia decided to start VicMo on the bench on the first leg. In addition, there are a few players who started that game that shouldn't have.

You must always consider the "Nigerian Factor". Sad but true!

I've seen some. I know some are good. The question really is are they really the best we have in the league? That's why I said the team looks decent. If they will go far at CHAN proper, that's another matter.

I thank goodness for our academies which ship our young talents abroad.. so we hope again based on how they develop there.

Exclusive – Ex U17 Goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye Included In Eagles Squad For Cameroon Tie

https://i0.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/IMG_3352.jpg?resize=419%2C600

Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye has been promoted from the CHAN Eagles to the main Super Eagles after winning the trust of the new goalkeeper coach of the Super Eagles.

Ajiboye made the CHAN Eagles squad for their upcoming qualifiers clash against Benin Republic in Contonou, where he will contend with first choice goalkeeper and captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa as well as Theophilus Afelokhai.

His involvement with the senior national team set up of Nigeria is not expected to end there as he has also been included in the list of call ups for the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon in September.

” Ajiboye has done well, he has earned a spot in the main team for the game against Cameroon, unless something else happens between now and then. Otherwise he is sure going to be in the squad”, a team source exclusively told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” The new goalkeeper trainer Enrico Pionetti has been very impressed with his performance and responds to several drills. He has subsequently told Gernot Rohr about him.

” Many people forget so soon that Ajiboye played in Spain, so he can’t be said to be inexperienced. A lot could change between when the list is announced and now, but Ajiboye has no doubt warmed his way into the Super Eagles set up for the Cameroon game”.

Like I had always said, one problem with Naija coaches is that most of them are fecking lazy! Instead scouting and visiting soccer venues (including Universities and academies) to discover hidden talents, they would get stuck with the same non-performing players!

Please don't tell me that Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are the two best goalkeepers in Nigeria today. Yet we kept inviting them to the Super Eagles even though that they have demonstrated over and over again that they are not good enough. Insanity, they say, is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

Nigeria, we hail thee!

‘Biggest revelation’ Dele Ajiboye presses Ezenwa for CHAN Eagles No 1, seriously being considered for Super Eagles

By admin -
August 11, 2017

Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye is pressing skipper Ikechukwu Ezenwa hard for a starting shirt in Sunday’s CHAN 2018 playoff in Benin just as SCORENigeria has exclusively gathered he has so impressed to be on the Super Eagles squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

A top team official described the former Nigeria U17 and Olympic team shot stopper as “the biggest discovery” in the CHAN Eagles with Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali also catching many eyes.

“Ajiboye has impressed everyone including the new goalkeeper trainer and he could even be the man in goal against Benin on Sunday,” the team official revealed.

“Already he will be considered for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

“And who knows, he might even be the one in goal for those matches, that’s how.”

Ajiboye told SCORENigeria before the CHAN Eagles training camp opened in Kano that he hoped to use the home-based national team to relaunch his career after he last represented Nigeria at the 2012 Olympics qualifying tournament in Morocco six years ago.

“My major target is to be in the main Super Eagles and so doing well with the CHAN Eagles will help me achieve that,” declared ‘Aji-boy’, who posted a short-lived stint in Portugal before he returned to the domestic league.

In the meantime, SCORENigeria has gathered Kano Pillars defender Jamiu Alimi was axed from the matchday squad to Cotonou because his international passport is lodged at a foreign embassy apparently to process a visa to attend trials abroad shortly.

IF he decides to play for Nigeria now espcially now that we need quality defenders, what will we gain for turning him down? There are many factors why he may not feel Nigerian. I'm sure only he can explain best what he meant at the time.

Holding a grudge against a player and trying to pay him back is elementary. If it was a father-son scenario, I will pet my son in the back and accept him. You don't lose anything. It shows maturity. And the bond will be stronger than ever. How about in future he goes on to say Nigeria gave him a chance despite rejecting their overtures initially. And that's one thing he would love Nigeria for. Nigeria as a country that has failed so many sportsmen. For once we can do what is right instead of holding on to our ego.

Defender Who Wants To Play For Nigeria [Instead Of Spain] Scores For Bolton Wanderers
August 10, 20170104

Former Real Madrid defender Derek Osede scored his first goal for English Championship side Bolton Wanderers in their 2-1 away win against Crewe Alexandra in the first round of the English Football League Cup (EFL Cup).

Osede popped up with the winner for Bolton with nine minutes left to play in the game helping his side to a comeback win after Chris Porter put Crewe ahead in the 42nd minutes of the game.

Two goals within the space of ten minutes from Adam Armstrong and Osede knocked out Crewe at the Alexandra Stadium much to the disappointment of the home fans who taught their team would at least get a draw.

The winner scored by Osede was his first in the colours of Bolton Wanderers since he joined them two seasons ago from the B team of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Born in Spain to Nigerian father and a Spanish mother, the 24 year old represented Spain and helped them to win the 2012 UEFA U19 European Championship , but in 2015 he stated his desire to switch international allegiance to Nigeria.

I just don't understand what Arsene Wenger wants Alex Iwobi to do before he nails down a permanent position at Arsenal. Iwobi always performs each time he's given an opportunity but, for some reasons, he (and to some extents Olivier Giruod) never get 100% trust from Wenger. I hope that another decent club would come for Iwobi so he can leave, then Wenger would understand what a gem he's lost.

Alex Iwobi, Mohamed Elneny giving Arsene Wenger pause for thought

TwitterTweet

The expectation among Arsenal fans is that manager Arsene Wenger will still make some major additions in the current transfer window. However, the performances of Alex Iwobi and Mohamed Elneny in the Community Shield on Sunday -- and, in fact, through the entire preseason -- have given the Gunners' boss plenty to consider before making his next swoop.

Thus far, Arsenal have acquired only Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, and although the former cost a club-record fee, it's believed the Gunners still have plenty left in the budget. The transfer market is relatively quiet on the eve of the Premier League season but is expected to burst into life in the final few weeks of the window in August. Having kept some powder dry, Wenger has the potential to be part of the forthcoming frenzy.

A deep-lying midfield player and a creative force are the two positions seemingly on his agenda, and the Ligue 1 pair of Jean Seri and Thomas Lemar have been the names most commonly linked with those berths. However, Elneny and Iwobi have both performed so well throughout the summer that Wenger must be wondering if he needs those signings after all.

The case of Elneny is an interesting one. Prior to the clash with Chelsea at Wembley, he spent most of the season as an emergency centre-half. Wenger has admitted he does not see Elneny's long-term future in central defence. Perhaps, besides simply making up the numbers, the idea was to try to toughen the Egyptian up. While defensively diligent, he has previously lacked aerial ability and aggression in the challenge. Both those attributes seemed markedly improved against Chelsea in the season's Community Shield curtain raiser, which Arsenal won on penalty kicks.

Elneny was everywhere, his tireless running a neat complement to Granit Xhaka's more measured approach. Elneny is the very definition of a box-to-box midfielder -- he regularly covers more ground than any other Arsenal player. It's also telling that, perhaps as a consequence of their respective time with Basel, Elneny and Xhaka seem to have struck up a good relationship both on and off the pitch.

If Arsenal were able to persuade Monaco to sell Lemar -- and this summer's activity suggests the principality club will sell pretty much anyone for the right price -- he presumably would find himself in direct competition with Iwobi. Some have suggested that Wenger could look to convert Lemar into a box-to-box midfielder, but that process would take time and holds few guarantees. For the time being, he is a wide creative player who can occasionally be repurposed in the centre. That's exactly the same slot Iwobi fills in the Arsenal squad.

The pursuit of Lemar seems to be a nod to the fact that Arsenal could lose two of their creators-in-chief, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, in just 12 months' time. Signing Lemar now would afford him a year to adapt before taking up the reigns as Arsenal's primary playmaker for 2018-19.

However, it's possible that a new signing -- especially one with such a big price tag -- could stunt Iwobi's progress. Both players are the same age, and Iwobi's preseason performances suggest he could be on the verge of a major breakthrough.

There is so much to admire about the way he plays the game. His touch is immaculate, and his vision remarkable for one so young. The greatest compliment to Iwobi is the frequency with which the likes of Ozil and Alexis trust him with the ball. Arsenal's best players recognise the youngster's quality.

Right now, Arsenal simply have too many players to contemplate bringing anyone else in. Only once the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Lucas Perez and Carl Jenkinson have been shipped out will there be room for additions.

When Arsenal have completed the requisite sales, Wenger's mind will once again turn to recruitment. Before plunging into the market, he must consider the cases Elneny and Iwobi have mounted for first-team involvement. Are they destined to remain "nearly men" or could this be the year they step up and become key men at the Emirates Stadium?

Arsenal fans would doubtless like to see the squad strengthened, but knowing Wenger, and his preference for "international solutions," it's possible he may soon be declaring the chequebook closed for good.

Did God tell him this or is he just "prophesying" what his mind told him?

O pari

dumebiifeanyi:
Former Governor of Rivers State and the current Transport Minister, Mr Rotimi Amaechi must tender unreserved apology to some key ministers of God in the country before Muhammadu Buhari’s administration can fully achieve its aims, Bishop Seun Adeoye has stated.

The Presiding Bishop of Sufficient Grace and Truth Ministry (SGTM), Rehoboth Arena, Okinni in a statement issued in Osogbo, Osun State on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 explained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government has the potentials of actually turn Nigeria around but has been inhibited by the Almighty God.

He said, “Virtually all those who led Buhari’s campaign including the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo were guilty of using all sorts of blackmail and falsehood to get this government into office but Amaechi was the major culprit.

“It was Amaechi as the Director General of Buhari’s Campaign Organisation who told the world that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan bribed Christian leaders with a whopping N6billion. He refused to mention who collected the money and who they shared the same to.

Following this unguided statement by Amaechi, many innocent pastors were ridiculed and abused by Nigerians. It came to a point that parishioners even did not trust their priests again. I am one of those who prayed for Buhari to get well quickly. The Lord has assured that he will heal the president and that he won’t die in office but this government can’t get anything right until Amaechi and others apologise to those they deliberately maligned during the campaign.

It is clear that rather than this government breaking new ground; it is still struggling over the economy, security and power generation. The president has been on sick bed for months. Blood of hundreds of innocent Nigerians have been shed unnecessarily since this government came on board in May 2015.

Truth must be told; Amaechi offended men of God. He laid accusation on all pastors without justification. He must tender an unreserved public apology and I am sure pastors around the country will rally round and pray from the deep of their hearts for peace in our land and total restoration and recovery of the economy.

You cannot mock God and go away with it. Men of God are His representatives on earth. If you mock pastors, you mock God. If you lie against them, you lie against God. I am confident that with a sincere apology from Amaechi, in particular, those who sit and fold their arms watching the nation’s events as they unfold will rise up and help in prayers and we will see God healing this land”, the cleric added.

Bishop Adeoye explained that Amaechi and others must humble themselves and ask for forgiveness from the people they offended during the struggle to install Buhari as Nigeria’s presidentpresident.
