Yup. It was this goalkeeper who saved them at home against Zambia during the World Cup qualifiers. If not for this goalkeeper, Cameroun would have lost the match by more than 2 goals, even with the shady penalty that the referee gifted to them.

Let's hope that this is going to be a wake up call to the Super Eagles. We don't don't have the World Cup qualifications in the bag yet. Still lots of work to be done.

Exactly why I find it difficult to criticize Buhari. In my opinion, Buhari might be incompetent but he's not corrupt. On the other hand, Goodluck Jonathan was both incompetent and corrupt at the same time. I don't even wanna think about what Nigeria would be today if GEJ and Diezani are still out there stealing Nigeria's treasury dry.

sir, I share in ur concern too.
But be rest assured there is no cause for alarm on who n who will be called up for the crunch encounters against the indomitables come august.

Rohr is no rookie and he understands the magnitude of the task ahead-so no room for experimentation.

Most of this news of rohr scouting, following or may likely give call ups to some unknow players playing or not playing are fake n made up by agent-bought media just to call attention toward such a player-which m sure u know better.

Peradventure the lions go all d way to lift the afcon trophy then Our dear brothers in the glass house will need to get off their comfort zone and organise some series of friendly matches both during/off d international breaks to test all this prospective players as our perennial foe will be representing africa at this yr's confederations cup which 'll give them more time to jell as a team therefore posing greater threat to us.

This Cameroonian team though hard to beat but they can't stop Nigeria.

I have watched all their games each for 90mins in this AFCON. They have a good defense and compact midfield. Infact there is avery good cohesion between their defnse and midfield. However, they dnt have good strikers. This could be partly why they've had two draws in the WC qualifying group. I expect them to even get stronger when or if the 8 players that pulled out of the AFCON return to the team.

I expect Rohr to file out an attacking formation of very fast and skillful wingers and a point and kill striker. No room for strikers that would play 3 or 4 chances wide before hitting one on target.

The key is to get an early goal which would destabilize that their cohesion between their defense and midfield, stay compact on our own side and continue to terrorize them with quick counter attacks. God should please keep Moses, Iwobi, Etebo and Iheanacho fit for that clash.

I tip Egypt to beat Cameroun in the final.
Our attention should be drawn to how Egypt would unlock that Cameroonian defense line.

Cameroun must fall!
Bingo!

If Senegal had taken their chances, they would've beaten Cameroun. We just need to take our chances especially in the first leg, because we'll get chances. If we can get a result against them in the first leg, then we'll wait to hit them on the counter when get to Yaoundé or Douala.

Of course! Been there, done that. Like I had several times, here in the forum, if you're an African then you'd have to be twice as good as the other guy in order to play. And when you're selected, any mistake you make would see you back on the bench. Sometimes these coaches don't even know that they have this mindset either. As far as I can tell, my coach in college has no racist bone in him, but that doesn't stop him from blaming me anytime something isn't going well with our football team.

It is called "Unconscious Bias".

Yup, goldfish was definitely onto something here. But my views on Cameroun was partially tinted by my desire to see them lose early. I definitely don't wanna face a fully motivated Cameroun. Unfortunately, Senegal disappointed me and failed to take advantage of all their chances. Cameroun has definitely over achieved so far, but Egypt would handle them on Sunday. It's gonna be a close match but I trust the Pharaohs to carry the day. Does anybody still remember that even Bukina Faso outplayed Cameroun in the first game?

Anyway, let's just pray and hope that coach Rohr has picked up one or two things on how to play them sha.

The Camerounians are clearly the better team so far.
I don't buy the idea of wishing the Camerounians bad because we are paranoid about facing them.

Personally, I want the Camerounians to win this tournament. It will be reverse psychology which will work against them because our players will certainly turn up if they know they are facing the champions. Just like they turned up against Algeria.
The prospect of beating the champs will be more than incentive to see off Cameroon. That's my interpretation.
Bruh, I still won't wanna play against a motivated Cameroun side. And if Cameroun wins this AFCON, the team would move mountains, including buying up the refs, to make sure they qualify for the World Cup. If there's anything more dangerous than a wounded lion, that's a very motivated lion. Anybody who wishes naija footie well should pray and Egypt comes true for Africa on Sunday by beating Cameroun.

And by the way, the Algerian team we beat a few months ago was a team in disarray....a team that had just fired their coach.

All in all, I still like our position as opposed to Cameroun. If we can beat Cameroun at home and secure a draw in Yaoundé (or even if we lose narrowly in Yaoundé), we'd be as good as qualified. I am sure that we can take care of business at home against Zambia and Algeria would be out of it by the time we face them in Algiers, so they might not give us a tough game especially if we could reach a gentleman's agreement with them grin

That's tournament football for you. The best sides don't usually win. Not so long ago a frankly crap Portuguese team wobbled to the European trophy with a washed up player scoring the all important goal in the showpiece game.
Even in 2013 an unfancied super eagles team without their best player Osaze went all the way to capture the trophy in SA.
It's a cup tournament. That's what it is. Let's enjoy it!
True. That's why everybody should be praying and rooting for Ghana to come thru tonight!

If Cameroun wins this cup, they would carry that momentum to qualify for the world cup. There's nothing like confidence when it comes to sports. Let's hope that the ghananese would do the right thing tonight by taking care of business. I have had enough of Cameroun already.

Congratulations to Egypt and Hossam El hardary. The young man El hardary makes it to another final yet again.

I've always rated the Egyptians to reach the finals but I don't see them winning the trophy. I expect the curse of Hector Cuper to strike again. The man seems to have pissed on a sacred grave, akin to the curse of Benefica.
I will be betting against Egypt on the showpiece game smiley

I like the looks of Bertrand Traore. The young man is so talented. Hope he goes on to have a better career than his injury prone brother Alan Traore. Watching him reminds me of the Iheanacho I saw who burst into the scene. Chelsea have a player there but unfortunately I don't see him getting the chances his talent deserves at Chelsea.
Guys, there's something about this AFCON, the best teams are NOT winning. First, it was Senegal then Congo DR, and yesterday Bukina Faso was far better than Egypt but lost!

Let's hope that Cameroun isn't going to wobble and fumble to win the trophy! I just don't like the way things have been going in the tourney so far.

Nothing special about Lions of Cameroon, says NFF

https://cdn.gdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/000_L66L0.jpg

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said
that Nigerians should not be worried by the
smooth run of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun at the on-going Gabon 2017 AFCON.

The Lions and Super Eagles of Nigeria have scores to settle in August this year when hostilities resume for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The Camerounians, who will face the Black Stars of Ghana in the AFCON semifinal tomorrow, will be in Uyo to face the Super Eagles in August with the reverse fixture four days later at the hill top Stadium in Limbe, Cameroun.

Nigeria currently leads the World Cup qualifying group with six points against Cameroon’s two.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, chairman Technical Committee of NFF, Chris Green said the Lions may be having it all smooth in the AFCON, but they will fall in the two-legged World Cup qualifier against the Eagles.

“This Camerounian team is not doing anything
special in Gabon. I agree that the Super Eagles
and Lions of Cameroun are perennial rivals, but
we want to use this journey to Russia 2018 World Cup to prove a point that we are now ahead of them. The atmosphere in Gabon and the teams they have played so far will be different from the World Cup qualifiers.

“We have our plans, and our decision to allow the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, to travel to Gabon to watch the matches will be an added advantage to us. He now has first hand information about the Lions.

“I am not saying that Cameroun is a push over,
but I am assuring Nigerians that they won’t
prevent the Eagles from flying to Russia. What
the result of Cameroun’s smooth run in Gabon
means to us is for the NFF to go the extra mile in preparing the Super Eagles for the challenges
ahead. But as I said, there is nothing special
about this Camerounian team,” Green stated.

Source: http://m.guardian.ng/sport/nothing-special-about-lions-of-cameroon-says-nff/
A useless and typical Nigerian bragging. I wonder why such useless men, with ZERO knowledge of football, are still doing in the NFF. Did they plant a rock there?!

You couldn't even qualify for the AFCON, yet you don't have any problems dismissing an AFCON semi-finalist with a wave of hands! Sometimes they think that you win these matches merely by bragging bravado! The person who knows what he's doing has already warned us that Cameroun would be a tough opponent, before this slowpoke came in with his baseless bragging.

Blind leaders of the blind!
