Again, the truth of the matter is that, the NFF hasn't given him enough chance to fail. And in addition, my argument for indigenous coaches isn't limited to Siasia. I will take Emmanuel Amuneke over Gernot Rohr any day! O pari Earthquake2: Siasia is not the only person to prove himself with our age teams Manu Garba, John Obuh has done the same
The difference is while they are still actively coaching, Siasia is sleeping on his couch
Meanwhile we have a coach who has qualified us to world cup and Afcon with games to spare(Something Siasia has never done)
The question now is.. who needs Siasia? |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 5:01pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
Good point! I honestly don't know why Siasia decided to take a break from coaching because I know he doesn't have any problems coaching in the local league. He isn't Sunday Oliseh Anyway, I don't know why he isn't coaching any team now ... maybe many of the teams in our league can't afford him. O pari Truidstar: Sir, I am a fan of sissia's style of football. Your arguments on his behalf are worthy. But..... When has he coached a team last? The more you manage, the more experience you get. What is he currently doing or engaged in that will make the NFF look his way? He should look for a small team somewhere |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 4:59pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
No, I am not blaming anyone but just stating facts. And this isn't just about Siasia either. The NFF should learn to support and respect our local coaches. Coaching is not rocket science, most of our indigenous coaches can do the job better than many of these journeymen foreign coaches. That's the main point I was tryna make. O pari chrisooblog: you are still making excuses for siasia. amodu came in during our 2002 world cup qualification with 3 matches to go we were on the brink of not qualifying he bailed us out. blaming backroom staff for siasia's inability to qualify nigeria for common AFCON (twice!) is the height of clutching at straws |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 4:10pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
Siasia deserves a look in because he has definitely proven himself with not only the U-21 team but also with the Olympic team. That's why he comes up in the conversation. He and Emmanuel Amuneke have definitely earned the rights to be in the mix. O pari Earthquake2: Siasia hasn't proven himself as a senior coach so why invite him
The occasions he was called to salvage the situation he failed to do so and right now he is lying in his couch waiting for another senior job as if it is his birthright
Mind you Rohr was called for a salvage situation and he did his job well so I don't see the reason why Siasia comes up in the conversation for SE coach |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 4:07pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
Please address these two pertinent questions for me: 1. Has Siasia ever been given enough time to tinker with the team. Has he even stayed with the team for more than a few games? That's definitely not enough time to do something with a national team. 2. Why didn't the NFF allow Siasia to select his own backroom staff and then hold him accountable for results? O pari chrisooblog: sorry which sinking ship? first scenario we were still in a healthy position won 1 lost 1 but blew it by drawing with ethiopia away and guinea at home. second scenario also took over team in a healthy position won 1 drew 1 blew it against the egyptians. amodu shaibu who is not everybody's favourite coach achieved far more but even he is not getting the hype you keep giving siasia |

Omo, Siasia was brought in to salvage a sinking ship. Each time they call on him, it's always after the qualification had already started and going back: either against Guinea or against Egypt. Let them give the job and leave him alone for about 2 years then we'll be in a better position to assess him. And by the way, they should also give him freehand to select his backroom staff just as they are doing with Rohr. When Siasia asked for Simon Kalika to assist him, the NFF denied his request but the same NFF has allowed Rohr to work his foreign assistants! Talk about double standards! O pari Earthquake2: You mean the Siasia that couldn't beat Guinea to qualify us for the Afcon?
How many matches has Siasia won as a first team coach? |

Trust me, Siasia's team would've defeated both Croatia and Argentina in Russia. I know some of y'all would jump on me for saying this because we know that Croatia played in the finals but the Croatia team we played was not a very good team. An offensive minded Nigerian team would've shocked them during the first 20 mins and would've won that game! but Rohr came with a timid, defensive minded game plan and Croatia capitalized. And having won that first game, their team took the momentum that carried them into the finals. But all in all, there was nothing special about that team. They were never good prior to the World Cup and they have reverted back to their mediocre levels after the world cup. In fact, I wrote off Gernot Rohr after our first game in Russia. He might have the German organization but organization can only take you so far. O pari Danielnino00: And it is Siasia you want to replace him?? |

KPOM @the highlighted. The bottom line is, Great Britain really don't have any foods, per se. In fact, when I think of a traditional British food, the only thing that comes to mind are: fish and chips, sausage and mash potato, and the English tea. I honestly can't think of anything else. Pasta is Italian. Pizza is Italian. Hamburgers is American etc. O pari uuzba: If I didn't live and work in UK, I would have been clapping for you. When in Rome, do as the Romans. I ate all the British food. Nothing happened to me. Very easy to cook. I'm here in Nigeria, eating all the whole Nigerian food. Nothing still happened to me. Each region has it's own food.
If you were born in UK, no matter how you long throat for pepper, it does not grow there. Coconut, palm fruit, banana, plantain, yam, cassava.. They don't grow there. So that can not be a part of your diet unless you import them which will be very expensive for you. |

I will agree that he's the best for the Super Eagles simply because of the support and the respect he receives from the NFF. Would the NFF accord similar treatment to an indigenous coach? Not a chance! Yes, some ICs have been accused of egunje and the likes but did we bother to ask ourselves why they resort to such underhanded means? Isn't that simply because they are trying to survive?? The NFF is in habit of owing ICs 6 months or more salary. So how do you expect these men to feed their families I would like for the NFF to pay our ICs coaches their salaries on time (as they do with these foreign coaches) and give them freehand to select players, then let's see if our local coaches are not good enough. O pari Humility017: even though I don't like some things about the German. .. the man is the best for the Super Eagles at this time.... where we have young nigeria players springing up everywhere... he is the only man amongst our many coaches...that' can give players equal opportunities to play... he is a good man someone like amunike will turn the Super Eagles to egunge era of Keshi where players will have to grease palm prior their call up and we will end up loosing lot of foreign born players. He should stay in Tanzania please...though he is better and more tactical compare to rohr but in terms of management and fairness....rohr is the best. cc: icon79 |

The people who follow me on twitter can testify that, after the World Cup, I had recommended giving this Super Eagles team to Samson Siasia and Emmanuel Amuneke to manage. Frankly, Gernot Rohr ain't better than those two if the NFF can give them an equivalent support and freehand. O pari Icon4s: Amuneke has simply introduced the typical Nigerian style of play into the Tanzanian team: Ie plenty of ball possession with long balls and creative wings play.
We may find it tough if we play against the Tanzanian team I saw beat Uganda 3:0 on Sunday. |
