Again, you guys are misrepresenting my position. I did not call for a ban on foreign based/born players. My argument is that if the essence of these cadet tournaments is to help develop the game in your country then we are missing the mark by relying on foreign born players at that stage. If we keep running to the countries with a good system and structure to discover talents, then we'll never take the time to discover the talents that are abounds in our own backyard.

I am 100% sure that if we get down to work and start scouting the thousands of high schools and dozens of football academies we have in Nigeria, there would probably be no need to go and pluck a 15 year old teenager from his base in the United States - unless he's a special talent, that is. We'll never develop the game at home if we keep relying on already made and already discovered stars abroad. That's just the bottom line.

And this is the same argument I have been making about giving our homebased/indigenous coaches a chance to coach the national teams. Anytime we go abroad to hire a foreign coach, what you're telling the indigenous coaches is that they are not good enough. We have even reached the levels of hiring a foreign coach for the women national team as well

Talents who are interested can be invited for screening. You can not abandon them when they want to play for you and then start looking for them when they explode.

Thank you, my dear. Some folks here may not wanna hear it but I will keep saying it: foreign born 15 and 17 year old kids should be left alone to develop their games in their birth countries. We have dozens of academies and thousands of high schools in Nigeria with gluts of football talents waiting to be discovered. How do we encourage and develop our local born talents if we have to run overseas to pick every tom, dick, and harry? How do you know that the 15 year old you're inviting from America is better than the 15 year old in a local high school somewhere in Surulere

Bottom line, the U15s and the U17s kids should rep the countries of their residence. Once they show us that they are good enough then we can invite them for the U20s and U23s.
