I think yorubas are loosing out fastly in every sector in nigeria. Just take a look again at mallam taking over in lagos power. Are this mallam trying to come and compete with the igbos the wealth of lagos and recently ogun that God has giving into their hand. Just see dangote taking all their land esp in ogun state and yorubas serving as labourers to mallam in their land. SW wake up, much was giving to you with no show but the igbos who got nothing out of this country are faring better in all indices of dev. Enlighten people by mouth do not go to sch again. SS is about to catch up with them in JAMB enrollment and admission by 2013 after SE has maintain an unbroken 12 yrs lead with imo state alone accounting 12%more than ekiti, oyo, lagos and ondo put together. WAKE UP

these represent nigerian society . how can people from other part of country come to another part and commit this barbaric act . with the names on dispay , it also included the yoruba people, all the way from west . why the noise about a particular tribe? anyway the crime should be condemned irrespective who and where it was committed only that some people are always quick say exonerate themselves from any crime or wrong doing. Nigeria as whole is in shambles , noted for jungle justice , wicked acts etc in the north , east and west .

Also Ojukwu is a definition of an ideal igbo man in all ramifications - smart, educated , rich and from rich background and brave .

Igbo man is known by all when u see him . igbo people dont hide . Once u see an igbo any where in the world you ll know him . even in overseas, if you see an igbo man in the street, u ll surely know that he is an igbo man . igbos have a very unique look and characteritsics in interms of the way they showcase themselves, the way they talk , walk . they ve a very stylish and unique way of approaching life which is diffrent from any tribe in black world.

It is unfortunate that such an interesting topic is not being allowed to be informative . Really i love the igbo version of it which is more informative . Though an attempt to derail it and stopped the motive was abortive because the igbos never allowed it rather concentrated on defining and giving meaning to igbo. For peolpe to come here to say that igbos are derailing this thread ang abusing it is totally untrue . It is up to the yorubas to educative people on who or what is a yoruba and not to give up just like that and resort to fightin ; this has actually separated the boys from the men and actual compares both tribes in term of resilience and duggnes. By just saying youruba people is accomodating, always like to say thank you, this n that is not what people want to hear .Every body is accomodating , humble etc . Just educate us deeply who is true yoruba man interms of culture , tradition and the likes . right from the begining of this thread , the yorubas derailed it by themselves by showing weak interest to own it and resist any attempt to make mockery of it . So stop blamimg igbos for derailing this thread .Truly i see this as a sign of weaknes .in real life, you gonna strugle to be heard . Dont give up so easily and and resort to blaming game. So please yoruba should go on to tell us who is yoruba and stop accusing igbos of wrong doing here .after all some yorubas made some nasty comments on the igbo version of who is an igbo man but kept on pushing the info through .

Thank God we have the person of ACHEBE who is internationally known to be bold enough to say the atrocity committed by Nigeria to igbo people. The plan was to annihilate the igbo race but to no avail . It is unbeleiveable that the people that were subjected to total destruction survived and even appear better than their oppressors today . Anyway the more noise you people -yorubas make about the book , the more money Achebe puts in his pucket.

Only one man from yoruba land had been opportuned to be the president of Nigeria - OBJ . So i dont understand the noise about the nigerian presidency . Unfortunately, it will take more than 20 yrs for yorubas to smell presidency in Nigeria since OBJ has taken their turn. Nigeria presidency or not the Igbos are on the move . It is even better for igbos so that they will concentrate in accumulate wealth on indivdidaul basis. Scheming igbos out of presidency will surely come to an end one day . See the case with black Americans - OBAMA . The day the igbos will take the presidency tnen the igbos will be complete and dominate all sectors in Nigeria. Igbos will not divide Nigeria . They will teach others how to pilot the affairs of Nigeria for upmost postive outcomes. Yorubas and hausas know what the igbo nation is capable of doing if igbo gets presidency - IGBOS WILL DOMINATE and that is the fear and not seccesion . Igbos wil not secede from Nigeria if they get presidency . Igbos are clamouring for seccession because we feel marginalised in Nigeria. With presidency , we have every thing and other tribes know that .

it is true . If you yorubas and other tribes so hate Igbos that much , why dont you allow igbos to go? Igbos dont want to be with yorubas and the huasas and we are serious about it . Support the bad igbo people to go . ABI u people esp the yorubas are scared of being stuck with the hausas . @ Pazienza nwannna u just hit it. Good advice to our people -igbos. Our problem is that we too trust other tribes the reason we spread all over and that has become our nemesis. I was once naive and trusted my yoruba friends then i got stabbed . I didnt have option given that i reside abroad and most of my close friends are yoruba guys . NL is actally a good forum to enlighten our people of how other tribes perceive them and for them to always be on the look out for the evil people around to destroy their lives and protect themselves . I know an average ibo person is smart and if well informed and tuned will be able to identify haters and navigate his way to safety or fight the person. Our people shold please please stop trusting other tribes esp the yorubas . The hausas are known ibos haters - we all know that . But a yoruba who pretends to be your friend please please be careful . It happened to me and to our elders Zik, Ironsi and Ojukwu.

It is fake . How many people died ? it was a ploy to show that BH also attack moslem or mosque . Who are they deceiving ? I dont beleive it the bombing was real . may shehu of borno organised it .

I grew up in Onitsha where i lived my child hood life to the fullest . Did all the silly and naughty things i child can do but was inspired by the environment where every family compete to produce the highest number graduates and successful business people . The child hood environment prepared me to adapt to any situation i found myself and my succcess in life is atributable to my child hood experience . I have been to some vital cities of the country and also have been to all the big countries of the world.now settled in a first world country practising in the medical field.

If they kill moslems too they should go and bomb mosques during prayer sessions on fridays then i ll beleive they kill both christians and moslems. moslems are only caught up in the whole anihilation of christians . they also target moslems who do not agree with them. christians have been the primary target.shikena

Just cant understand the yorubas. Imagine deserting their southern brothers to join aliancence with the core north . Yoruba is a disappointment to the south . Shame to them . GEJ action was laudable. Despite the muslems negative atitude he went a head to put in a muslem dasuki as NSA that goes to show that he believes in one nigeria and he is smart to know that is only moslems that can stop BOKO if they want . Therefore Dasuki would not want to fail otherwise he ll be sacked . He knows the button to play to nip the BOKO satanic.

It appears risky but in the long run, it is a smart move. Kudos GEJ. The haters clog their eyes hence cannot see the intelligent move by GEJ . Also i admire his leadership skills . He does not move quickly to sack people as he always give people time to make amends and d0 their duties; in event the person continues to flop , he wouldnt have any option than to sack that person.is good to always give people chance. It is absurd and insane for people to kick against Predents trip to Brazil. The boko haram issue is now a norm .Presido has to carry on with other duties as president . several times he has visited the palces and victims of Boko and this dastardly act by Boko is continuing unabated and Presido cant be stucked in Boko wahala . His presence anyway cannot make any difference.This is being overblown out of proportion - its just politics and hatred .

Nigeria needs people like him to run the country irrespective of tribe.

Yoruba show us the proof of being accomodating. Does lagos represent yoruba tribe in all ramifications? no no. What is the evidence that yorubas are more accodating in osun, ekiti, ondo oyo the core yoruba states . Lagos looks so because it was the capital city for ages. Yorubas will smile at you and stab you in the back how does this atribute depicts hospitality? Lagos represents nigeria much as Abuja and PHC . Lagos was taken from yorubas . The wicked display of area boy and yoruba landlord contradicts what sam wrote.The topic is totally uncalled for as i hate associating my self with Lagos . Lagos is shame to Nigeria .4th worse city to live in the whole world. A documentary about lagos shown in Australia was an eye sore and an embarrasment to Nigerian citizens residing there. Lagos is the epicentre of suffering in the whole Nigeria.

In a different angle. Are we not one Nigeria ? why the noise about accomodating ? is such said about cities like NY, sydney, los angeles etc . I would say that the people who migrate most are the most accomodating given that they will always feel safe as visitors much as they will protect people in their own domain. People who migrate less are scared of being maltreated by their hosts since they maltreat (e.g area boys and yoruba land lord in lagos) their visitors. This the fact .

People are still living in the past . Even before the civil war , igbos were the most educated and this was the fact . Then after the war igbos suffered a major set back both in trade and education. But currently igbo people are people to beat in terms of education and other human endeavours. People esp the sw are still thinking that the igbos are still lagging behind in education ; that was after the war . That igbos are good in trading does not mean they are behind in education; you guys got it wrong . Igbos are in every thing and that makes a society or region complete. i came from a family of 8 in Aambra and all of us are professionals. And besides , igbos have money therefore can afford to send their children to school and the best one for that matter.

It is a well known fact the ibos are the most progressive , dynamic and richest tribe in Nigeria where an average ibo family is well to do. Using presidency to judge who wears the last is absurd as the tribes that have held power for too long has done virtually nothing for their people instead abject poverty was the result. while the ibos are busy accumulating wealth which they use to sponsor their children to the best schools globally which is evident upon the personalities of ojukwus , Ngozi, Soludo, emaagweli, Prof dike , Oby , Akunyeli the list is inexhaustible .You can believe any thing you want to beleive ; staying in denial is the worse thing one can do to himself. Qdmainman The hatred for GEJ does not lie on performance . It just has to do with his root or his tribe which the SW people hate. GEJ has not been in power for fore more than 2 yrs and he is being crucified . look at great country like Usa with Obama being there up three and has not turned things around . Do you expect igbos to support a northerner who are constantly killing igbos and destroying their property. With Jonathan in power , igbos feel safer in the false entity called nigeria . Jonathan continuation means keeping the north at bay who beleives prisedency is their birth right. You re wrong by saying igbos are slaves in Nigeria .you Should know who is slave. How can a person who has money turns to be a slave? that does not make sense. Hausas and yorubas are busy pursuing nigeria money through politics while igbos are busy accumulating wealth, money and developing themselves and the whole nigeria through hard work . Power will come to igbos at the right time when igbos must have taken over every thing in Nigeria. You guys did not like OBj because he is not a core tribalist like an average yoruba . You talk of Abiola . Abiola got a lot of votes from the east . Would yorubas do same to an igbo aspirant? the answer is no . The yorubas hate GEJ because GEJ is from the old eastern region and GEJ is close to Igbos. I wonder why the yorubas would prefer a northerner taking over power from their Southerner brother just beacause GEJ is not a youruba .And what did the North do for Nigeria during their long grip on power. For God'sake , north has ruled this country for too long and yorubas have had a fair share of ruling Nigeria too hence it is the turn of other tribes . Actually presidency should be by merit , not by zoning but the reality is that Nigeria politics is based on ethnicity and for peace to reign, the zoning principle should be adhered to .

Igbos stand is that whenever GEJ/ South south person steps down as a president , it is gona be Igbos turn. For now we continue to support GEJ. Dont forget south south and south east are brothers . So many ibos in south south.

I have said in the past . GEJ should be allowed to contest . It is his right . He should not be rushed out of the office while other former presidents enjoyed 8 yrs and over . It is still too early to assess him . Nigeria is too complex a country and the economy has been battered which dated back to early 80s and how come you expect him to fix it in 2yrs . man! people should be realistic . We have to wait for at least 4 yrs for us to start seeing signs of economic improvement therefore he needs 2nd tenure . We cannot ignore the fact that because GEJ is Christian and from a minority , the increased clamour for him to quit as soon as possble . That is not fair . Unfortunatly, our selection of preident has been based or rooted in religion and tribe hence the reason why Nigeria is having a stunted growth.

By nature , man is the head . In any organisation there must be a head for things to move so as to man and woman and family. God has given the man that physical and emotional strenth and that says it all. In the west, the law was put in place to protect woman from physical abuse usully mete out by men but unfortunately, women are using the advantage of this law to lord it over men or claim to be in charge .This singular mistake by the west has resulted to incomplete families and incessant divorce in the western world .A relationship is doomed if the woman is the leader. currently the west is crumbling due to lack of strong family structure . countries in asia ( India or China) are emerging due the strong family based /oriented life . The say Charity begins at home. Please please africans should keep there culture where the man is regarded as the head and forget about the western culture which is failing them now.
