Onlinefarmstore: Maximizing Profit In Tomatoes Farming.
A single seed of Tomato in a Greenhouse can yield upto eight to ten kgs(with good management) Typical examples are Roma and UC amongst others, this is currently in greenhouses in Nigeria.
A single plant yields an average of eight Clusters, each cluster having an average of ten plus fruits and each fruit with an average weight of one hundred and fifty to two hundred and ten grams that means you will get fourteen.four kgs per single seed planted.
For definitely every thousand successful seeds you definitely get almost one thousand four hundred and fourth kgd or fourteen.four tons however it will certainly drop due to increase in population and other factors.
A Quick Calculation.
The average price for tomatoes is three hundred naira/kg multiplied by the output per plant, which then means on every plant you are harvesting four thousand three hundred and twenty naira And for thousand plants you then get a Gross income of +four.three million naira
Hence there are other cost in running the farm, ranging from water to fertilizer, which doesn't cost more than than a million excluding cost of greenhouse, but input will be low due to its a greenhouse for a thousand plants.
In greenhouse you can fully utilize the genetic potential of your seed.

abbeynism: So far, so good. I sprayed Randomil Gold MX fungicide and Sharp shooter insecticides on the farm yesterday. Prior to spraying I observed something like wool on my plants and I got to know that is Powdery Mildew.
I ought to spray before yesterday but I was down with malaria and I was unable to prevent.
Anyway the journey continues. How are your crops faring? I wish you full recovery! |

Psalmy2cute: pls what's the size of your land? 1 acre? how many heaps do you think can fit in 1 acre? willybaby: Hello everyone, so before I give a break down of today's farming activities, I think I should drop more information about the land.. The proposed cassava capacity to be farmed locally here is called ULA anf we farming 20 ULA... An ULA is basically 400 heaps so that means the farm land will contain a total of 8,000 heaps and we plan to plant 2 cassava stem per heap... So I think that should give u guys a basic idea of land size... It's almost an hectare....... |

Ebowo: please how do i gather rabbits urine? Do you breed rabbits? If yes, are they free ranged or caged? It's easier to collect the urine in a properly build cage system, whereby you either construct a sloped caged with a gutter to collect or you use mesh with a pan sloped at an angle not too steep, but just enough for the urine to run into a particular direction where it can be collected |

ogbongenet: no need of adding water. I have two formulae. 1 . This agribusiness idea can make you money and become your main business.
To make this fertiliser, it is very easy.
Rabbit’s urine is put into a 25 litre jerry can mixed with 500 ml drops of sugar fluid, 240 ml of EM4 (bacterial decomposition), and one litre of water of thick rice washing or 100g in one litre of water corn starch mixture to help feed the micro-organisms..
Then the jerry can is sealed, but the lid is perforated and attached with a hose.
In order the fluid of fertiliser fermentation to remain sterile, the hose is dipped into a bottle filled with water.
At least once a week, the fluid of fermented urine should be stirred to dissolve evenly and not precipitate.
After three weeks ,this liquid will change its colour and smell.
The colour will change to black, and smell like wine, not urine smell anymore.
For fertiliser application to crops, the ratio of dilution is 1:10, ie 1 litre fertiliser mixed with 10 litres of water for foliar application or fertigation in drip irrigation systems.
In the early stages of fermentation, a mixture of rabbit’s urine with other materials produces a stinging smell due to release of ammonia gas during decomposition.
In order not to disturb other people, the jerry can containing urine fermentation is stored in the farm under shed or far from immediate human habitation ,eg dwelling house , so that the stinging odor produced does not inconvenience the household Getting the E M4 chemical at most time is difficult ,that why I decided to put the second formulae 2. *How to Make An Organic Fertilizer & Pesticide From Home?
If you are thinking of doing organic Crop Farming, you must consider using only organically made fertilizers and pesticides. These can be made from locally available items around you. _Today we shall look at one reciep_
*Materials needed* ▪Urine (Rabbit / Human) ▪Ash ▪Hot chilli (local type) ▪Special Plant leaves like Tithonia, Wondering jew, Neem leaves, Pawpaw leaves and others. ▪Water ▪Bucket or any other container
*Process* We will use an assumption of 10 litres of urine
*Steps* Collect 10 litres of urine either human or rabbit urine. You can collect it in a jerrycan. Pour the *Urine* in a bucket of 20 litre capacity Put 12 red fingers of *chilli* preferably the african bird eye type Add 2kgs of *Ash* preferably Ash from fire wood. Collect *Plant leaves* (most preferably those with sup) and Chop them into small pieces like Tithonia, Neem Leaves, Paw Paw leaves, wondering jew, black jack etc These should be fast rotting leaves Add atleast 2kgs of these chooped leaves to the bucket. *Stir* the Urine with all the other ingridients and *Cover* the top of the bucket very tight not allowing any air in and out. Place the bucket in a *cool place* where there is no direct sunlight, preferably under a big tree. Leave the solution to *Ferment* for 21days. On the 22nd day, open the bucket and sieve the mixture to only remain with fine liquid to allow easy spraying. Dilute the fertilizer in a ratio of *1litre : 5 litres of water* And spray on your vegetables and other crops. Spraying is done normally once a week.
*Note:* This can both work as a fertilizer and an Insectcide at the same time. However it doesn't cure a disease like fungal infection. Wow! thanks for the idea, I am going for option 2 ASAP |

I don't know if you close by i can send 5lts to you. wow, so the rabbit urine fertilizer stuff is gaining popularity! mine is about 3 days, but I did not the rabbit urine into the mixture as I may use it on my fruiting tomato, and was too scared to take that risk. pipi84: I'm a farmer in Rivers state and I've being farming cucumber since 2015 and I'm still very much in the game. Farming is sweet if only we can have patience to WORK the WORK. Its very funny how people will want to replicate result of someone who had being consistent over time with persistence to learn what it takes to increase your harvest. We always want to over look the part of mentorship especially if it will cost us money. Even with my little experience I still travel till date to visit peoples farm as no one knows is all. When I started farming I was happy with 30bags per plot but right now my result is like over 70bags per plot but I'm still trying to hit the 100bags per half plot by okoroemeka which I know is possible. The pandemic and lockdown period in Rivers State actually favoured my as I sold my cukes at a high price but now the price has crashed as the lockdown has being lifted. Farming is innovations, cost and good agricultural practice and not forgetting good marketing skills. Sorry guys for this long epistle, I've being wanting to say something as I'm a silent reader all these while. Farming is a FULL TIME WORK not part time. Finally Rivers state's Professor of cucumbers has spoken! In my opinion, experience can be gained either through years of trial and error and subsequent corrections, or through employing the services of an experienced consultant. You will ultimately PAY either way! |

Farmerakinloye6: One guy saw me The day I was doing nursery, and he said " guy, this is not how to do tomato nursery,do bed and scatter the seed, then cover with light sand" of course what he said is true. I simply replied him, I think this is better way, wait let see the results. When he saw Me The day I was transplanting it (afternoon). He said "Dem no born anybody papa to try transplant this young tomato in afternoon,in local way" I just told him that one of the benefit of cocopeat and seedlings try. Another one saw me when I was doing staking and he said "nah wahala I dey do,nah ground tomato dey stay." I told him let see if my method will work. When he saw me plucking and spraying the farm, he said "engineer I have gain something never will I allow my TOMATO to stay ground" the purpose of my epistle is to let us know we can not be doing same thing often and often and be expecting different result. I have gain many things on nairaland..from madam jethro, jidestroud, Psalmy2cute.tc Abeg no make my teachers them pursue from school o! About people's comments, we just need to get used to that! Someone will still expect you to use 1950's method of cultivation as if that was God instructed them . I used a 30cm by 80cm spacing for corn in my garden, bros you need to listen to comments that came out from people's mouth, it was really disheartening. Thank God the maize yield was bountiful, even comments when my first experiments with tomato failed would have discouraged me, but I am not easily dissuaded. I have hit rock bottom in life once, so comments, accusations, gossip doesn't affect me greatly. Just focus on what you know are the best agronomic practices and keep updating yourself everyday, RESULTS SPEAKS! |

Sharp shooter active ingredients are Profenofos and Cypermethrin.
To alternate my fungicide and insecticide what would you recommend I pair the one I already have with? If you have upto 6k, you can buy cabrio duo, or since the cucumbers are not much you can use 3 sachets of redforce(copper based) 1 sachet(N500) is enough for the farm with a 16 liter sprayer. As for insecticide, that combination is ok, but immediately they start fruiting, use actara in the evening only |

It's not too late to apply manure if you find one( goat, cow, sheep and rabbit dung can be directly as it doesn't burn) chicken and pig dung needs to be cooled, you can copy Okoroemeka and his method of cooling/fermenting chicken dung. If you can't apply manure, then you must apply inorganic fertilizers ASAP |

abbeynism: Thanks so much boss.
Now in my case, I should be focus on using inorganic fertilizer and chemical fungicide and insecticides. Right?
I have sharp shooter for insecticide and RidomilGold as Fungicide. I hope those are good?
Now on applications of Fungicide and insecticide, when is the right time to use? Will I be applying both on same day every 2 weeks?
I will appreciate more info sir.
Thanks again. My first fungicide application is btw the 8th- 12th day depending on the rains, after that it's weekly if the rain is not too serious, but if it rains heavily consistently, I shift to every four days( this is from my tomato experience and the little cucumber garden sha) the professors will help out! Which of the ridomil are you using? Mz or +? You should alternate your fungicide(more than 1 active ingredient) spray to avoid disease resistance. What's the active ingredient in your sharpshooter as mainly use chloropyrifos and cypermethrin based insecticides and they can't be used when the cucumbers/any fruit veges are flowering because they scare away all insects including pollinators |
