Politics › Re: Opobo And Bonny Are Parts Of Igboland. by Idiko1: 11:40am On Aug 28, 2021
pazienza:
The Nwaotam cult emerged from the deity of ancient Ibani people called the Ottam people. These people were brought in mostly to satisfy the Europeans’ quest for human commodities in the 18th and 19th century.

According to the memories of late captain High Crow of Liverpool (1791: P 201) who visited Bonny for trade, “the Ottam tribe are stout and robust and of a deeper black than any other tribes at Bonny. Their bodies and face are carved and tattooed in a frightful manner.”

The Ottams were not only notable for the worship of spirits they called ‘Mmoh’; but were also brought into Bonny as adults, therefore the description ‘Ottam Mmku’ was made popular in Bonny. It was also in this line, that their working strength, tribal marks and rascality gave them another local phrase, Ottam Ahiriha.

The Ibani tradition has it that the Nwa-Otam originated from a dark mythical grove in Mkpajekiri around Ohambele Ndoki. By this time, the Ndoki native, which included the Ottam tribes men, had started serving this ‘Mmoh’ gods believed to be heterosexual; and would organise dance during a season of the year.

Sometimes I wonder who conferred SAN on Nigerian lawyers? I stopped listening to Femi Falana's fabrication when he did not know which meeting was held the day in discussion. It is mindboggling that an attorney will come to a judiciary panel without the actual knowledge of the meeting which was the arrowhead of his cross-examination. Obasanjo should have told Femi Falana to sort himself out about correct meeting before making a fool of himself.

A referendum was given to the Midwesterners to vote themselves out of the yoruba dominated western region, if itsekiri wanted to be in western region they could have voted to remain there,

Nnamdi Azikiwa was not the regional prime minister of Midwest Region he was the prime minister of only eastern Region, so where did he get the power and which Constitutional backing did Zik use to achieve what you accuse him of doing?

Plus awolowo was set free from calabar prison by ojukwu not Gowon , plus awolowo was just a minister of finance, nothing like president added to that position

*How Azikiwe, an Ibo, deposed the grandfather of the new Olu Erejuwa III, who was re-instated by Awolowo, a Yoruba:*

The newly crowned Olu of Warri, Ogiame Erejuwa III, reversed the curse of his grandfather, the Ogiame Erejuwa II.

In 1963, Ogiame Erejuwa II, had taken the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Mid-West Government to court over the inclusion of Itsekiri in the newly created Mid-West region.

Ogiame Erejuwa II told the court that the Itsekiri Kingdom is part of the Yoruba nation and should have remained as part of the Western region and not included in the Mid-West region.

He argued emphatically that the Itsekiri people would like to be a part of the Western region and backed the Action Group led by Awolowo and rejected the NCNC led by Nnamdi Azikiwe who controlled the Mid-West.

Angrily, NCNC leader Nnamdi Azikiwe deposed Ogiame Erejuwa II and deported him to Ogbesse. The king then put a curse on all the Itsekiri who supported Ibo to bring the Itsekiri kingdom into disrepute. Okotie Eboh, an Itsekiri who supported the Ibo to depose the Itsekiri King would later be assassinated by the Ibo soldiers involved in the January 1966 military coup.

In 1966, Awolowo was set free by Yakubu Gowon and named the Federal Minister of Finance and the de facto Vice President of Nigeria. The first thing he did was to reinstate Ogiame Erejuwa II as the Olu of Warri. But Ogiame Erejuwa did not revoke the curse. His grandson, Ogiame Erejuwa III, has just removed the curse on the Itsekiri people.

The Itsekiri Kingdom is one of the twenty-six Yoruba tribes.

By 1963, Awolowo was languishing in Nigerian prison in Calabar. How did Awolowo reinstate a goon who took federal government to court 1963. Awolowo's political wings in national politics were clipped in 1962 when fellow Yoruba peeps did a political number on him. Any traditional ruler who chose to dabble in politics has always been hit hard politically.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Must Continue To Exist: Obasanjo Rules Out Yoruba Nation, IPOB by Idiko1: 11:23pm On Aug 27, 2021
etokhana:
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday did not mince words about the unity and indissolubility of Nigeria when he said the country that sprawl over 923,768 km² with over 200 million people will continue to exist no matter what happens.

He spoke during the Book Launch and 85th Birthday of Eminence Prelate Sunday Mbang of the Methodist Church Nigeria which was held at the Admiralty Centre, Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Obasanjo, who was the Convener of the programme in honour of Mbang, described the former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria as a lover of Nigeria.

The book, a memoir, chronicling the journey of the octogenarian, was titled, ‘My Life and Times’.

Obasanjo, 84, said the “many enemies” who don’t want to see the country’s continued co-existence would fail.

He said the cost of staying together as a nation is cheaper than the cost of dividing Nigeria.

The former head of state made the statement at a time when secessionist agitations, fueled by perceived injustice and worsening security situation, have increased across the country especially in Southern Nigeria.

The regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been battling with secessionist groups including the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra led by detained Nnamdi Kanu; as well as the Yoruba Nation secessionist group spearheaded by Prof Banji Akintoye and embattled Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.

Amid the whole struggle to hold together the soul of Nigeria just 60 years after independence and many interruptions of military takeovers, Obasanjo said he would continue to work for the peace and progress of a united Nigeria.

Speaking directly to the celebrant, the ex-President assured the respected Christian leader that the enemies of Nigeria won’t win.

Obasanjo said, “We are here to honour somebody we should honour, and learn from him (Mbang), to show that we genuinely love and appreciate him for the service he has rendered to the Christian community in this country and world over. And to assure him that whatever happens, we will continue to work for unity, peace, security and progress of this country.

“I know that these are things that are dear to his heart. We want to assure you that Nigeria will continue to exist because the cost for Nigeria not to continue to exist is much more than the cost for us to make Nigeria to continue to exist.

“There are many people –high and low – who can be described as enemies of Nigeria but they will not win over those who are friends of Nigeria.”

Also at the event include the Akwa Ibom State Governor and Chairman of the occasion, Udom Emmanuel, as well as many dignitaries from all walks of life.

If the shithole called Nigeria denotes co-existence, it is safe to say the goon called Obasanjo does not know the true meaning of co-existence.
Politics › Re: How Retired Commodore Kunle Olawunmi Was Denied Promotion By Navy Board by Idiko1: 11:08pm On Aug 27, 2021
Dotng:
How retired Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, one of Navy’s brightest officers was denied promotion to rank of Rear Admiral 3 times by Navy Board

Retired Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, an Intelligence Officer and former Deputy Defence Adviser in Paris, France, who on Thursday revealed that that Boko Haram terrorists who had been arrested and interrogated mentioned names of some current serving Governors, Senators and Aso Rock officials as sponsors, was denied promotion to the enviable rank of Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy despite the fact that he was the most qualified at sone point.

Vanguard’s Investigation revealed that the Senior Officer was recommended for promotion board interview on three different occasions during the tenure of former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas, and on the three occasions, his name was dropped by the Ibas administration.

According to investigations, Commodore Olawunmi who was commissioned into the Nigerian Navy through the Onura entry Course 4, was appointed Deputy Defence Adviser during the tenure of Vice Admiral GA Adekeye (Rtd) as Chief of the Naval Staff.

A source told Vanguard that serving as a Defence Adviser or a Deputy Defence Adviser in a Foreign Country is a Special privilege for Military Officers, an appointment which only about 3% of officers enjoy in their career.

“In that regard, Commodore Olawunmi can be counted as one of few privileged officers in the Nigerian Navy at the period when Vice Admiral Adekeye held sway as CNS”.

“Having been presented for promotion three consecutive times during the tenure of the immediate past CNS and was rejected on each occasion despite at least on one occasion where he topped the list and being the only PhD holder, can be very frustrating especially when those who eventually got the promotions were not better, considering all the criteria” a source said.

Aside the fact that he missed promotion on three occasions which eventually led to his retirement, Sources said the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari’s sanctioning of his being denied promotion, as the final decision emanated from his table, ‘may’ have elicited some grieviances from the officer.

“Many of his colleagues, both seniors and junior officers believed he deserved to be promoted before he was retired in 2016 by the former CNS having exhausted his 3 chances for promotion to rank of Rear Admiral”.

A source said,”Before leaving service Commodre Olawunmi, a brilliant officer, never hid his disenchantment with the Nigerian Navy and in the CNS for denying him promotion he felt he deserved”.

“However, I don’t think the former CNS, Vice Admiral Ibas should be blamed for not promoting such a brilliant officer because the buck stops on the table on Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari. Efforts would have been made to find out why such an excellent officer was being treated shabbily”.

Another source added, “Retired Commodore Olawunmi allowed his disgruntlement with the Nigerian Navy to boil over. He may have been treated shabbily by the Navy under CNS Ibas but certainly he is not the only person to have suffered such.

“But it is unfortunate that as a retired senior military officer reduced all Nigeria’s security problems from insurgency to banditry to kidnapping, to a conspiracy theory of a plan to islamize Nigeria, introduce Sharia and taliibanize the country.

“One thing about serving in the military is that it reduces one’s biases and bigotry. Even if it doesn’t cure you of it completely, you would come out more balanced, more tolerant of others”.

“CNS Adekeye made him Deputy Defense Adviser, France and he also had foreign stints in Angola and Niger. Not all officers get such opportunities. Consequently, one can say in sum that Commodore Olawunmi saw both the good and the bad of military service. There are some like him who do not benefit from such military experience”.

Recall that Commodore Olawunmi during a Channels TV interraction on Thursday morning made some very weighty pronouncements, which were seen as disturbing and dangerous and described as disappointing for one who has worn the military uniform.

He alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government failed to demonstrate the necessary political will to go after the high-profile politicians for reasons best known to it adding that it was an aberration by bandits to have attacked the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, where two military officers were killed and another kidnapped.

“It is an aberration; you don’t attack the Nigerian Defence Academy and get away with it”.

He lamented a situation where like the NDA, other military environments in the country, carelessly open their doors to everyone on Fridays for Jumat prayer saying, “That is the time the terrorists have to profile our security environment. It has always been the case. I have served the military intelligence for the past 35 years. Our problem is religious and socio-cultural.”

Olawunmi, now a professor of Global Security Studies, said he was a member of the Intelligence Brief at Defence Headquarters during the leadership of the then Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin (rtd). noted that he told the then CDS that the centre of gravity of the Boko Haram insurgency ravaging the North-East and spreading to other parts of Nigeria was the sponsors.

“I told General Olonisakin then that the centre of this problem cannot be solved the same way we solved the problem of the Niger Delta. The Niger Delta problem was solved during (Ex-President Umaru Yar’adua) basically by me and I told them that we can’t use that same template for Boko Haram.

“I told General Olonisakin to look at the centre of gravity of the problem. I was made a member of the committee in 2016-2017 including (Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru) that died.

“I told them that the centre of gravity of Boko Haram in Nigeria is the sponsors of the programme. It was beyond us because the job we needed to do was kinetic but we cannot resolve issues of sponsors of Boko Haram that were in Buhari’s government, that we know them.

‘’That was why we couldn’t pursue that aspect that could have resolved the issue because we need to arrest people.

Olawunmi said the government had not been able to prosecute the sponsors because it was allegedly partisan saying, “Recently, 400 people were gathered as sponsors of Boko Haram, why is it that the Buhari government has refused to try them? Why can’t this government bring them to trial if not that they are partisan and part of the charade going on?

“You remember this Boko Haram issue started in 2012 and I was in the military intelligence at that time. We arrested those people. My organisation actually conducted interrogation and they (suspects) mentioned names.

“I can’t come on air and start mentioning names of people that are presently in government that I know that the boys that we arrested mentioned. Some of them are governors now, some of them are in the Senate, some of them are in Aso Rock.

“Why should a government decide to cause this kind of embarrassment and insecurity to the sense of what happened yesterday (Tuesday at the NDA)?” he queried, adding that terrorist financiers want to turn Nigeria to Taliban type of country.’’

Olawunmi also said the Department of State Services (DSS) has tremendous information on terrorists but they can’t do anything except the body language of the President.

Politics › Re: Imo’s Uzodinma Breaks From Southern Governors On Anti-Open Grazing by Idiko1: 12:15pm On Aug 27, 2021
powerfulguy:
With just six days to the September 1, 2021 target set by the 17 southern governors for states in the region to enact anti-open grazing legislation, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has become the first governor from the region to go against the agreement reached with his colleagues.

The governor on Wednesday declared that there is no law forbidding open grazing by cattle rearers in the state.

Uzodinma, who spoke with newsmen on Wednesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, argued that though there is presently no anti-grazing law in the state, his government was trying to regulate grazing activities through collaboration between the farmers and herders.

The 17 governors of the southern states had in a meeting held in Lagos on July 5, 2021, urged states in the region to ensure that the legislation against open grazing of cattle was put in place on or before September 1.

Following the governors’ resolution, Delta, Osun, Ondo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Enugu state governments had moved to enact anti-open grazing laws. But before the resolution of the governors, the anti-open grazing law was already operational in Ogun, Abia, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ebonyi states.

But in sharp contrast with the agreement reached by the southern governors, Uzodimma said: “I don’t have any law in Imo State for anti-grazing. But what we have done is that we are regulating grazing activities in Imo State under a partnership between our farmers and herders. They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in my office and agreed to work together. And both parties are going about their businesses without interfering or causing any grievance or anger to each other.”

He also said the recent sit-at-home order given by the Independent People Of Biafra (IPOB) was not carried out in the state, saying people went about their normal businesses.

He further disclosed that the Igbo people are now ready to play national politics by belonging to the party at the centre, saying this would play out with the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

Commenting on the sit-at-home order, he said: “To the extent of what I know on the sit-at-home order, even the people on their own called off the sit-at-home order. In Imo State, it is not being observed. People are doing their businesses.

“Most people in Imo are businessmen and women who depend on their daily activities and income to feed their families. So, they cannot afford to sit at home idle and allow hunger to ravage the state.”

Uzodinma stressed that there is only one government in the state headed by him and that at no time did he ask people not to go about their businesses.

According to him: “I know in Imo State, there is only one Governor and only the governor can order, working with other members of the government, that people should sit at home and it will be obeyed. I don’t want to sit here and recognise that there is any order outside the government of Imo State because there is a government.

“IPOB is not a government in Imo State. Imo State government has not authorised anything at all. Workers are going to work and normal business activities are ongoing. And for now, I told you that Imo State is relatively calm.”

Speaking as Chairman of the APC campaign Committee for the November 6, 2021 gubernatorial election, Uzodinma stated that the Igbos would the election to confirm their readiness to play national politics and be part of the government at the center.

He said: “You know our President. You know him (Mr. President), he will only encourage you. He doesn’t interfere. We are in charge of the campaign. I’m the Chairman of the Council. And the good news is that the political leadership in Igbo land has resolved to be part of the federal government, to participate at the national level, to leave the provincial championship to national championship.

“So, what we have decided to do is to ensure that we embrace the ruling party, the APC. And we are taking the message to Anambra. And by the grace of God, Anambra people will buy the message and Igbo land will be recovered”.

The governor also disclosed that the President has intervened in some ecological problems facing the state as three contracts for the control of erosion would soon be awarded.

Where did you sniff the above crap? Ndigbo and Biafrans fought a war against northern region, western region and midwestern region of Nigeria. If the war was between Igbo and Yoruba, it would not have lasted for two weeks.

The above list is a mixed bag of fraud and mischievousness. I did not see the real professor on the list. Prof. Augustin Njoku Obi, Imo State and the first professor of virology who developed Cholera Vaccine which was approved in 1971 by WHO. Anyway being a teacher or tutor or professor does not indicated the level of advancement in western education for a given society.

Are Igbos and Yorubas enemies in real life?

Are the Igbo politicians and Yoruba politicians enemy to each other?

If you have lived peaceful in Yoruba land for 21 years, then which unity again should Yorubas seek from Igbos?

And btw, what would unity with Igbo change in the current political situation in the country?
To the bolded, yes!!! Nigeria/Biafra war remains the amalgam of my socio-politico-economic philosophy in Nigeria.

I feel really compelled to make contributions towards the very suspecious, scary and unfolding events taking place in Nigeria today under the APC government. Let me make a few point very clear before I proceed.

First, I don't belong to any political party not APC nor PDP or any other. My reason is simple, I don't believe in this crop of politicians. They are too clueless for my liking. They are mafias, rogues and complete empty heads, so I don't find them worthy of deserving my vote. This is a personal opinion and i owe nobody any apology for that.

Secondly, this contribution is not for Fulani and the buharists to feast on. They must steer clear and allow people with brains and a level of sanity to put forward their comments devoid of hate and malicious intentions.

Thirdly, for everyone that will come across this post, please read it with open mind. Put aside sentiments, be objective with your comment and see things for what they are even though I meant end up being called unity begger.

I have lived in Yoruba land now for about 21 years. I have Yorubas as friends, I equally had them as course mates back in school days. I do business with them and i look forward to more fruitful relationship with them. I admire their spirit of hospitality and humility.

But the truth I must say to the Yorubas without any iota of bias whatsoever. Honestly, my Yoruba brothers must be told a few truth given the present goings in the country. They must be reminded that the Fulanis are fully out to undermine and overrun Nigeria. I have heard many of them argue how it is not possible and how APC is the best party in Nigeria not until late.

The opportunity in question here for these killers to overrun Nigeria no doubt, has already been established by the Yoruba race. How? True the infiltration of their ranks with the religion of Islam. For the fact that a large chunk of Yorubas are sympathetic to Islam is a dangerous handshake that must be checked with all seriousness.

Secondly, I have noted with serious concern the Yoruba penchant for preferring a Northern president than an Igbo president. Take for example, there has been a loud advocacy by prominent Northerners that an Igbo president succeeds Buhari in 2023 for fairness and equity. Whether that is political or not but at least we have heard them say it. Unfortunately, I have never heard any Yoruba elite coroberate same instead the Yorubas have been at the for front of stylishly packaging Tinubu, Osinbanjo and canvassing for Fashola or Fayemi to succeed Buhari.

Let me make it very clear, the Yorubas should not make themselves the enemies of the Igbos. If they do, they will be at the losing end. Space will fail me to explain this but lets leave it at that. They just shouldn't. It doesn't take anything away from them to for once support Igbo presidency in the spirit of brotherhood. The Yorubas must stop being cunny with the Igbos. They must not be politically correct at all times.

Said that, am sure everyone can perceive the dangerous wave of things in our national life today. We need not be told that the coming days are heavily pregnant and no one knows what it will deliver. The fulanis are bent on unleasing heal in Nigeria in their quest to conquer and dominate others.

I posted a very short piece yesterday calling on the South to be prepared and I meant every call in that short piece. I have no reason to doubt the readiness of the Igbos including the Niger Deltans in the event of any emergency in Nigeria. I trust those guys with everything in me, you can take this to the bank for free.

Unfortunately, I do not think same about the Yorubas. This is the more reason why they must quickly unite with their brothers in the East now because tomorrrow may be too late. Igbos have fought war in the past at least for three solid years, they understand a little about war and so can stand any invasion for as long as it can take. They did it between 1967-70 anyone who thinks they can't do much better now is only fooling himself.

This contribution is not born out of hatred for anybody. I love my Yoruba brothers. But they must shake up, do the needful. I need them to be more reasonable. For once, forge alliance with their Eastern brothers and put aside their handshake with the North which will consume them if not checked immediately.

I am happy for the Southern governors meeting which have begun in earnest. We expect more of it and hope that there are no sabotours and cunny devils among them who spill every details of the meeting to their Fulani masters because we really need to come together and ensure that evil wicked caliphate burns to ashes.

Another way the unity between the Yoruba's and the Igbos can be strengthened is for our online warriors who are specialists in attacking one another Igbo and yoruba to stop the attacks, rather use their time online to put forward pieces that can inform, educate as well as aid the unity of the whole South.

The unity must begin now and in earn in earnest.
Anything short of unconditional disintegration of the cesspit called Nigeria is a waste of the time. There must be a Republic of Igboland as do other republics such as Oduduwa. It is silly to ask people to suppress the anger which comes from a scar on the palm of their hands. The Nigeria/Biafra war shell ever remain with Ndigbo and Biafrans forever. The first step to minimize the trauma of Nigeria/Biafra war is disintegration of Nigeria.
