Buckeyemedia1: The kingdom comprising virgin lands and territorial areas, was founded before or about AD 1400. The founding group of the kingdom, who originated within the Isedani lineage of Kolokuma in the Ebeni-toru region (which is itself in the present day Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State), was led by four direct descendants of Ebeni. These were Ndoli, Opuamakuba, Alagbariye and Asimini. From these leaders and the entire founding generation of the kingdom evolved the lineage/ward/house system of governance that is currently used to administer the state. The“Amanyanabo”, or monarch (lit. owner of the land)wink, presided over a chieftaincy system composed of the "Ase-Alapu" (or high chiefs of royal blood) and the “Amadapu” (or district heads).
The four descendants of Ebeni became monarchs of the kingdom in turn, and are remembered today as its founding fathers. After their deaths, their own descendants ruled the kingdom as kings until the reign of King Awusa (alias Halliday) in the early modern era. It was after King Awusa Halliday, the twelfth king of the Bonny kingdom, that King Perekule I succeeded to the kingship. Since his reign, King Perekule's direct descendants have served as successors to the throne established by the founding generation of Bonny The bolded have no trace in Ijaw. Even when the words were distorted to sound foriegn, they still point to their origin. |

Buckeyemedia1: SON Of AN IGBO SLAVE: Oko Jumbo was the son of a slave who became a lesser chief in Bonny, but managed to amass considerable wealth and thus power through astute trading. He became one of the leaders of a group of chiefs who dominated the ruling Manilla Pepple house. Filipinos and Indians who were shipmates on the British Schooners influenced what is known today as Ijaw. In addition, Jumbo is a coinage from Jabir won by peeps from Akwapim-Togo region who were mostly European porters. |

Which ethnic group first waged war of secession in Nigeria?
Why did Ojukwu, Aguyi-Ironsi and all other Igbo intellectuals/politicians violently resisisted the secession of the mainly Ijaw Niger-Delta Republic in 1966 when the Igbos were in Power, only to follow the same path few months later when the table turned against the Igbos?
Ojukwu captured Adaka Boro, paraded him naked, sent him to Aguyi-Ironsi in Lagos who quickly sentenced him to death for treason. Curiously, the same Aguyi-Ironsi never bother to trial Nzeogwu, Onwutega, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Major Okafor and others who carried out the Jan-15,1966 coup which plunged the country into disaster.

stephanie11: National affability has much to do with what we think of one another; how we talk to one another, and what we call one another. As nugatory as this may appear to be, the content of our dialogues and multilogue – caustic and vile – in our cocoons on social media and interactions with other Nigerians escalate recriminations, and deepen stereotypes and contorted perceptions. Bala gets a raw deal from Emeka, and he gears into pejoratives, ‘’southerners are dishonest’’. Tunde’s relationship with Dahiru hits the nadir, and he goes, ‘’northerners are vicious’’. In these instances, ‘’northerners and southerners’’ have become offenders vicariously in transactions between individuals.
The sectional tags – ‘’northerner and southerner’’ are subliminal stereotypes that we have come to normalise. Although the tags should ordinarily be for the geographical taxonomy of where a citizen comes from, in the case of Nigeria this meaning has been inverted. Calling a Nigerian ‘’northerner’’ or ‘’southerner’’ is often suffused with innuendos, and a form of labelling.
Tags can be unfading for their power to hang on subconsciously. It becomes reflexive to throttle into the ‘’northerners/southerners are that like’’ trope. We must be conscious of the potency of tags and do well to keep our conversations and interactions benign. Little annoyances stoke the tension. Whatever does not amplify the unity of Nigeria ossifies disharmony; so, should be discarded.
Tags like ‘’southerner’’ and ‘’northerner’’ emphasise division, and accents the polarity of the north and the south. Instead of being ‘’northerners’’ and ‘’southerners’’ can we just be Nigerians? This may appear to be a tough call or some idealist longing, but it is possible. It takes deliberate effort on the part of the government in policy formulation and direction on national cohesion, and citizens in our public statements, interactions and actions. A national epiphany and rebirth is conceivable. There must be a systematic approach to promoting national geniality. The government has a principal place in achieving this as well as the citizens.
For me, since I became aware of the insidious quality of these sectional tags, I have made intentional efforts to flush my mind of the vermin. It is not an easy process as these tags are common in our public conversations and have attained normality. But ‘’change begins with me’’.
Preserving Nigeria’s peace, unity and security is everybody’s business. It is in our best interest to keep the peace and to keep Nigeria steady on the wheels. There is no salvation anywhere – in the US or in Europe. Justice, compassion, and fairness do not govern the global system; only interest rules. We should love our country, and defend its interest. The ‘’world’’ cannot do for us what we must do for Nigeria. In fact, "international community" does not exist in practical terms. At the global level there is only a Babel of interests.
The world watched as the killings in Rwanda persisted in 1994 for 100 days. While the country was up in an orgy of bloodletting, the ‘’international community’’ was observing diplomatic niceties and some drinking tea in meetings. About 1.1 million citizens killed. The genocide ended because Rwandans resolved to end it.
The world watched Boko Haram at its apogee of terror in Nigeria. The US even refused to sell weapons to the country when the terrorist group had its claws deep in Nigeria’s throat -- and with many citizens abducted by the insurgents. It is in our hands as Nigerians to preserve our peace and security. There is no salvation in the US, the UK or any foreign power. It is our journey, and it is our cross to bear alone. We are the potter; we will build Nigeria with our own hands.
Let me reproduce here an ecclesiastical allegory written by Mr Tony Dara, media mogul and passionate advocate of a united Nigeria, which he shared with me.
He wrote: ‘’Luke 18:18-30 (here is an attempt to juxtapose Nigeria in this heavenly conversation).
‘’The Rich Ruler (the Nigerian)
‘’And a ruler (a Nigerian) asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life (to have a great Nigeria)?” And Jesus (Man of Wisdom) said to him, “why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery (faithful to Nigeria); do not murder (no harm to others); do not steal (content with what he has); do not bear false witness (give accurate account), honour your father and mother (respect societal values).’” And he said: “All these I have kept from my youth.” When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor (give all to Nigeria), and you will have treasure in heaven (in Nigeria); and come, follow me (become a nationhood servant not master).” But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich (SELFISH, SELF-SERVING). Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said: “How difficult it is for those who have wealth (who are selfish and self-serving) to enter (build) the kingdom of God (Nigeria), for it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person (Nigerians as we are) to enter the kingdom of God (to build Nigeria).” Those who heard it said: “Then who can be saved (who then will serve Nigeria)?” But he said: “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” And Peter (a Nigerian) said, “See, we have left our homes and followed you (we are determined).” And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God (Nigeria), who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life (Nigeria is a VERY BLESSED LAND).”
Indeed, Nigeria is a blessed land. A new and better Nigeria is all in our hands. Instead of chronic negativity and visceral tearing down of the country, let us work at it. It begins with what we do in our neighbourhoods; in traffic, in our offices, in our schools, in public places, and even in our religious houses.

In international politics, the greatest factor that strengthen your claim to disputed territories is the political authority you exercise over the territories, it is far superior to 'languages or ancestries' of the present inhabitants of the territories.
Are you currently exercising political authority over Opobo or Bonny? Was there ever a time , these cities were parts of your kingdom/Empire? How did you come into the conclusion that they are your territories?
Read about many hotly disputed territories by different sovereign countries in the past and present e.g Kashmir in India Vs Pakistan Vs China, Jerusalem in Israel Vs Palestine, Western Sahara, Ceuta and Melila between Spain Vs Morocc, Brittany, Nagorno-Karabakh Region between Azaibanjain and Armenia etc Most of the hints in above post have no bearing on the subject matter or what you have in mind. Palestine does not exit as a state and may not. The original territory known as Palestine included Israel and Jordan. As for most areas you mentioned in the post, the colonial powers which had no interest of the people played a major role in the political saga found today. |

Emergingnation: Western nations should develop Nigeria’s infrastructure to end terrorism: Lai Mohammed
Mr Mohammed says terrorism is a global issue with no boundary and “for the world to be saved, every corner of the world must save.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has urged Western nations to help develop infrastructure in Nigeria and other developing countries as a means to end terrorism.
Mr Mohammed says terrorism is a global issue with no boundary and “for the world to be saved, every corner of the world must be saved.”
“The western world should look into helping developing nations like Nigeria in developing their infrastructure,” Mr Mohammed said. “This will help to create employment and quality livelihood that will make it difficult for ideological groups like Boko Haram to recruit the youths.’’
The minister stated this in Washington DC during his on-going engagement with various global media outlets, think tanks and media influencers.
Drawing inference from the Afghanistan situation, Mr Mohammed, who interacted with Reuters, Washington Post and Bloomberg via a live streaming news service, underscored the need for the developed world to see terrorism as a global threat and handle it as such.
“We can see from the example of the U.S., where Taliban takes over Afghanistan, a pointer to how difficult it is to fight terrorism driven by ideology,” he emphasised
The minister said that Nigeria welcomed the support received from the U.S. and other countries in fighting Boko Haram insurgency.
He added that more help especially in funding infrastructure and global support in fighting terrorism would go a long way in stamping out the menace.
Mr Mohammed then justified the Abuja approach to tackling insurgency, saying the Afghanistan debacle should make the world to appreciate Nigeria more in the methods deployed in fighting the asymmetric warfare.
He said that the development had proven right the position of President Muhammadu Buhari that when fighting an unconventional war, the country had to be resourceful
“If what happened in Afghanistan is something to go by, then the federal government should be given kudos for the way it has handled insurgency in the last couple of years.
The Buhari regime has been granting amnesty to Boko Haram fighters through its “Operation Safe Corridors” which encourages the insurgents to surrender in exchange for rehabilitation.
There have, however, been complaints, one of such from Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, that the scheme is failing as rehabilitated jihadists often return to the trenches after studying the environment and later return to attack.

Eastlink: Very funny I tell you. But the truth is that Ijos were quite smarter than the Igbos during the first republic. They played their politics right in the 1960’s and used that opportunity to cement their feet in the Niger-Delta, with the help of a few of their sons who formed a political alliance with the NPC of Ahmadu Bello.
While many like the Kalabari and Opobo dominated the NCNC, those like Dappa Biriye from Finima was in opposition and used his NDC (Niger Delta Congress) to give undue support to the NPC, and was rewarded with love from the north. In fact, the Niger Delta Congress was the first southern party to go into political alliance with NPC. And you won't blame them as they wanted a state for all Ijos of which the NPC agreed to give them if they were elected into power in 1958. The NPC only pushed them aside temporarily, when the NCNC swept the riverine areas of Bayelsa and Rivers with the help of pro-Niger-Deltan NCNC members. And thus, knowing that the NCNC won majority votes, the NPC which had majority seat in parliament went into political alliance with Zik. That alliance was short-lived as every region went into political battle with themselves. While Ahmadu bello was sponsoring Akintola in the west, the likes of Awolowo was sponsoring Joseph Tarka in the middle-belt.
When Ahmadu Bello said he’ll drop the Quran in the Atlantic ocean, he was being paradoxical. It wasn't about Islam. He meant he had allies in the south. And among those allies was a young Issac Boro who was mentored by Dappa Biriye. Isaac Boro was always in communication with Balewa. In fact, when Balewa was murdered he was agonized and quickly began his secessionist movement to break his part of Bayelsa out of the eastern region, feeling that the Igbos would dominate Nigeria after taking out the north, whom Boro called the saviour of the Ijos. Surprisingly the bulk of those 1000 youths Boro used in causing his 12 day insurrection in the east, were Ijos who were born and bred in Ghana.
And it wasn't a surprise when during the civil war, Boro used that opportunity to cleanse the Niger-Delta of pro-Igbo sympathizers and land grabbed independent Niger-Delta city states like Bonny, Opobo, Kalabari, Nembe, Ogbia, Yenagoa, Andoni etc into his Ijaw land. He would have done much more had he not died in the hands of Adekunle who was concerned about Boro’s personal vendetta in the war, which was turning the battle in the riverine into a genocide instead of a civil war to unite the country. Most Nigerians are goons hence the shithole called Nigeria is known as basket of fools. In 1959 election, Niger Delta Congress won only one seat. The winner was Milford Okilo from Sagbama. How did winning one seat give NPC an advantage in eastern region? The fight for political survival was pitched in western region and middle belt district of northern region. By 1963, western region has lost Midwestern region which become the home of NCNC. In the above crap, you were correct about the use of Ijaw peeps by the northern political elites to rob the currecnt generation of so-called Ijaw of their birth right. Did you realize that PIB was driven by Ijaw in the 60s. You cannot eat your cake and have it. As of today, Ijaw kids have better percentage chance to die of cancer than their northern counterparts. etokhana: The governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has said that any candidate aspiring to govern Anambra state must be well educated to be able to continue from where his predecessors stopped.
While speaking at the inauguration of 4,200 members of the 2021 Governorship Election Campaign Council in Awka, Soludo said those parading First Leaving School Certificate and West African School Certificates as their qualifications are certainly unfit to aspire to lead the state.
He also chided one of the candidates whose campaign Council was made up of over 90 percent of people that are not from Anambra State warning that outsiders cannot decide for Anambra people who will govern them.
Soludo warned about those wishing to ‘take Anambra’ rather than win the election, saying that Anambra people will resist rigging of the November 6 election.
According to him, over 80 per cent population of voters in Anambra is APGA sympathisers and that there are no factions in the party contrary to insinuations from the social media which wanted to fractionalize the party.
Also speaking, former Senator who represented Anambra Central District Chief Victor Umeh warned that Anambra should not be turned to Kuwait by those inaugurating foreigners to their part’s campaign Council.
Umeh said that APGA has a strong scorecard to build on to win.
He said that APGA has won all battles it faced in the past 19 years and the November 6 election cannot be different.
National chairman of the party Chief Victor Ike Oye said APGA has already won the election because Hod brought Soludo to replace Governor Willie Obiano.
Oye said the party’s team is star-studded and Obiano’s evidence of performance unassailable.

Anioma, means good land in Ika Anioma means good land in Agbor Anioma means good land in Oshimili Anioma means good land in Ndokwa Anioma means good land in Anambra Anioma means good land in Enugu Alaoma means good land in Abia Alaoma means good land in Imo Alaoma means good land in Igbo areas of Rivers state Elioma means good land in Ikwerre
Anioma DOES NOT MEAN good land in Edo Anioma DOES NOT MEAN good land in Ijaw Alioma means good land in Ikwerre Alioma means good land in some part of Eboney State too. |

Captain8: shut up liar... tribes like ika oshimili are benin offshoot and have nothing to do with igbo... Capitan Ogogoro, I shall request you shut up your putrid mouth for you know nothing. It is unfortunate in Ijaw educational curriculum, towns and communities are tribes and ethnic nationalities. I suggest you concern your silly self with the offshoot which gave rise to Ijaw. |

OfoIgbo: You did not forget anything. Please stop lying and spreading falsehoods like a typical Ijaw man. M and A were added by Sir Osadebe to make sure the expression was a complete Igbo expression. The four Igbo provinces in the then Midwest were Agbor, Ndokwa, Ika and Oshimili. No more, no less.
Stop forgetting. M and A don't exist Bro there is mainstream education and equally a roadside Ijaw education. Capitan Ogogoro is the beacon of roadside Ijaw education. |

Captain8: asaba is there.... thats the formation of the word you hearing as anioma today thinking it is a tribe.. you can even used google.... The brain behind the formation of word, Anioma, never thought about himself as anything other than Igbo. He was the secretary general of Igbo Union in Aba before the formation of Midwestern Movement hence Anioma after the Nigeria/Biafra war. Anioma was never a tribe or ethnic nationality but a politically enhanced movement. Today, Anioma people are the Igbo communities in Delta State. Even Igbanke ( Igbo akiri) is a part of Anioma hence Ika connection. |

Captain8: thats not case for anioma in state here..... anioma in delta state is an initial like as follows.. A=agbor N=ndokwa I=ika O=oshimili M= A= forgotten the last two... but so on.... am from delta state... you know nothing here.. . Capitan Ogogoro, you did not forget anything. It simply does not exist. It is foolhardy to pick certain towns and communities in Delta State to form your pipe dream of anioma as acronym. What of A for Asaba instead of Agbor? What happened to Ukwuani? |
