The Christians now claim that Jesus was God. If he was God, of course the devil knew that fact, and yet, according to this account, the devil took the omnipotent God and placed him upon a pinnacle of the temple, and endeavored to induce him to dash himself against the earth. Failing in that, he took the creator, owner and governor of the universe up into an exceeding high mountain and offered him this world -- this grain of sand -- if he, the God of all the worlds, would fall down and worship him, a poor devil, without even a tax title to one foot of dirt! Is it possible the devil was such an idiot? Should any great credit be given to this deity fear not being caught with such chaff? Think of it! The devil -- the prince of sharpers -- the king of cunning -- the master of finesse, trying to bribe God with a grain of sand that belonged to God!

Is there in all the religious literature of the world anything more grossly absurd than this?"

11 Undergraduates Retreat Into Forest To Await Rapture

THEY had been reported abducted. All 11 of them. Emotions were high and palpable fear ruled the whole environment of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State where they had been domiciled before their curious disappearance.

But the search team raised by institution's authorities eventually located them onThursday night. Contrary to the wide belief, they were not abducted.

Rather, the 11 undergraduates had decided to go missing, as they were no longer interested in this "sinful world." They had, therefore, taken a walk into the jungle in search of "rapture." They had been on their search for rapture.

Unknown to many, these students, according to a source, are members of a Christian religion sect - World Ablaze Fellowship.

According to a Biblical injunction, one of the signs of the last days is the rapture of all true Christians on earth when they are expected to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven.

The affected students, it was gathered, left the university campus last Saturday for the "rapture" journey into the forest towards Tonkere Village, in Ife-South Local Government of the state.

The students, The Guardian gathered, walked for almost nine kilometres into the deep forest, claiming that they received message from God to rapture.

The students not only abandoned their re-scheduled on-going harmattan semester examinations for the "spiritual" mission, they also left behind all their worldly possessions, taking with them only their copies of The Holy Bible.

Earlier reports claimed that the students were abducted by unknown people, but the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Michael Faborode immediately raised a search team comprising the school's security outfit and some local hunters who, five days later and working on a tip-off, discovered the rapture-seeking students.

The students, two female and nine males who had been in the jungle without food have seriously lost weight and looked dirty when they were brought back to the campus by the search team.

Three of them, The Guardian learnt, were graduating students with one studying Law while another one had already completed his seven years Medicine programme, but refused to go for his housemanship.

The graduating students reportedly claimed that they were not interested in the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC), saying "life is worthless".

They were said to have subjected themselves to dry fasting and fervent prayers so that God could immediately take them away from this "sinful world".

Some of their mates spoken to by The Guardian expressed disbelief at their attitude. The Vice Chancellor (VC) while reacting on the matter described it as not only funny, but shocking.

He, however, sent for the parents of the affected students and handed them over.

The VC told the parents most of who were disturbed and unable to utter any word to ensure that the students were rehabilitated before they return to the campus.

Faborode also charged other parents to always visit their wards in school to monitor their behaviour to keep them venturing into adventures which he described as dangerous.

Firstly, i am not an authority on Ifa but a mere OMO-AWO[student]. like I said earlier in one of my replies, Ifa encompasses all teachings of life both spiritually, morally, physically, scientifically, medically and et al.

With the little knowledge i have of ifa, i will like to share and to learn from other guys on this forum,

In western world they always talk about "ANGER MANAGEMENT" to the extent that people will often resort to therapy and all other forms of programme to control their agressive behaviours. to us as Yoruba people, this is not a new phenomenon or a moral teaching that was based solely on other religious sects but a lot of our people do not know what Ifa has to say on this. Prejudice and bigotry has clouded some peoples mind and eyes and have refused to examine or inquire about the teachings of Ifa.

I dont want to bore people too much let us just examine and talk about ANGER---IBINU in Yoruba.
we all know that "anger" leads to destruction and all other vices.

STORY, ABRIDGED FORM
IYA was the first child and the daughter of the King of Iwo and was at the stage to get married.
All deities like Sango, Ogun, and other deities went to Iwo to seek the hand of Iya in marriage. Iya mistreated them, was very rude and meted out the worst behaviour you can think of on to them. They all failed to marry Iya because they couldnt withstand Iya, they all ran away in their first day. at the turn of Orunmila, before he set for Iwo, he had been warned that no matter what treatment that Iya subject him to he should have patience and to endure. He was severely warned that he will be provoked greatly.
when Orunmila got to Iwo, Iya did not greet him, she did not welcome him, she hissed at him, called Orunmila all sorts of name, she did not give Orunmila any food or entertain him. Orunmila just ignore her. first day, second day, till about the seventh day. To cap it all, Iya took Orunmila's Opon-Ifa[divination board] and used it to cook, she took Orunmila's Pouch [APO OMINIJEKUN] away. this infuriated Orunmila greatly but he refused to react to her behaviour having been warned not to react or to show any form of anger.

At the end of the day the King noticed that Orunmila did not react or show any sign of anger to her daughter. Orunmila's behaviour gave him the assurance that he will take goog care of his daughter if she becomes Orunmila's wife. All along, unknowingly Iya's behaviour had been a test for all the prospective suitors. The King now called Orunmila and gave Iya to him as his wife and he divided his property into two and gave Orunmila half of it. Orunmila bacame rich and he had Iya as his wife.

Moral lesson, ENDURANCE, PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE

well i just heard about a christian guy who took his life 'cause he was lonely/ had no friends. i don't really know to what extent he was religious but his memorial was a couple of months ago

Man commits suicide for failure to memorise Holy Quran

A 25-year-old man, Abdullahi Maidawa, of Mamawa village in Bagudo Local Government area of Kebbi, has allegedly committed suicide over his inability to memorise the Holy Quran.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maidawa bathed himself with petrol in his room and set himself on fire.

He was alleged to have claimed that the action was in protest against his failure to master the Quran after about eight years of intensive studies.

Alhaji Muktari Ibrahim, the Police Commissioner in the state, confirmed the incident today in Birnin Kebbi in an interview with NAN.

He said all efforts to save the life of the deceased after he was rescued by the police yielded no positive result.

Ibrahim said the deceased died at a comprehensive health centre in Bogudo, here he was rushed to for treatment.

He said Maidawa had told police detectives on his hospital bed that he decided to take his life because he was "an orphan".

The commissioner said the deceased also cited his inability to memorise the Holy Quran as another reason for his action.

He said the police were unable to Btrace Maidawa's relations, and that he had been given a befitting burial on Thursday by the district head of Bagudo.

Researchers have found fossil remains of early human ancestors in Ethiopia that date to a little known period in human evolution.
The cache included several complete jaws and one partial skeleton, and was unearthed at Woranso-Mille in the country's Afar desert.

The remains were recovered 30km from the site where "Lucy" - one of the most famous human ancestors - was found.

The specimens have been dated to between 3.5 and 3.8 million years ago.

The research team is led from Cleveland University in the US.

The palaeontologists have been working in northern Ethiopia's Afar region for four seasons. This year, they have broadened their search to new areas.

They have found these new areas rich in fossils including teeth and fragments of jawbones belonging to ancient, humanlike creatures - often referred to as hominids.

Dr Yohannes Haile-Selassie, one of the team's leaders, told the BBC: "One of the reasons why this discovery is really important is because it serves as a time frame that we know nothing about in the past and that's what makes it really significant."

He added: "We have a record of about six million years of early human evolution in Ethiopia, but there are also small gaps here and there and this one happens to be one of them."

The fossils come from the right time period to shed light on the relationship between the "Lucy" species, Australopithecus afarensis, and an even older species called Australopithecus anamensis.

The older species is thought to be ancestral to the "Lucy" hominids, but scientists need more fossils to say this for sure.

Dr Haile-Selassie said the new dig sites yielded the bones of many monkeys, antelopes and wild pigs, suggesting that the hominids lived in a far greener and more wooded countryside than the bare stony Afar desert region seen today.
