ibkayee:
Can’t emphasise the importance of a woman having her own money enough, even if your husband is ok with fully taking care of you, still have something you can fall back on.

It’s empowering, self fufilling, it brings independence, multiple streams of income won’t hurt the household, you’re less of a liability, if your guy falls on bad times you can step in and help, being entirely reliant on your guy can open doors for misbehaviour (cheating, abuse, etc)

There was a recent story of one peanut head Nigerian man who destroyed a business he helped his wife build because he felt she was becoming ‘too proud’. When you have your own, if things go wrong you will have more options

So many reasons

Here's my own 2kobo advice;

Start Agency Banking Business.

I'll share my own story to help you get a better idea.

I schooled in Delta and served in Kwara. After service I simply stayed behind cos I knew I had nothing to go back to in Delta.

My PPA then happened to be so far from main town, with transportation cost averagely about #700 to and from from the town.

So, I saw the opportunity in this, which was;

1. No banks in my PPA community.
2. Tfare to and fro from the nearest bank in town is about 700h
3. Good power supply in the community
4. Free accommodation as per I was a good Corper during my service year so I had good relationship with the school I served and the indigenes.

Hence, I rented a shop. 1,500h per month, bought 3 plastic chairs, printed 2 banners and with my Android phone I was in business.

Next I registered as an Agent with several agency banking companies, installed their App and started doing Cash Withdrawals/Deposits/Transfers, Dstv sub payments, Airtime sales, NEPA prepaid payments. I don't even have POS machine yet oo, just using my Android phone for now.

In all I spent about 30k to setup, and with savings of 400k, I had enough cash for those coming to withdraw.

Right now I make about 3k daily from service charges and I work even on Sundays.

I hope this helps. It's 3:30a.m here so its back to bed now. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Agency Banking business is the way bro, I mean the POS business. First of all find a community, estate or any area where bank is scarce, money is a necessity so forget whether you go get customer or not. After, find a single room apartment of about 50k, furnish am with 50k, find a shop of about 36k to 50k. Go to any bank and tell dem you interested in agency banking biz, dey will give u POS free, pur the remaining 100k in the account and start ur life. Meanwhile don't quit ur teaching job until everything is set.
my guy please enlighten me more on this agency banking stuff am in the same situation with the op abeg,

ASPIREX:
I came across this post on Saturday 15/12/18. I was intrigued and I decidedbto contact the poster via email. His response was swift, brief yet concise. He recommended two businesses for me and I chose one which required just 4,500 for a sample survey. He also provided contact details. I called the numbers and negotiated with the company and on Sunday morning they were knocking on mu door by 7.00am having come to deliver my first order.

My wife and I were quite impressed. Mark you, payment was on delivery. We sold the products in less than 2 hours (everything was actually finished in our church). We called them and placed anotger order this time they insisted on a prepaid order and a minimum order of 45,000 but I was able to negitiate for half of that and insisted that I would again pay on delivery. They delivered very early on Monday morning and my wife drove around t market it. She (my wife) called me very excited around 1.00pm saying she had exhaisted the product. I was impressed and decided to go for the jugular. We have now committed to the 45,000 order now and delivery is for tomorrow morning. I will keep you guys posted as regards the next supply.

I want to thank the poster for sharing this informaion with us all and to encourage others who have tried it out to share their experiences.

I am now open for other suggestions/recommendations.
Oga please what is the product I need something I will start this new year. help me abeg

You see sometimes we are the architect of our own misfortune. Let me set some thing straight, I am not your client. I don't know you from Adams, i saw your post on Nairaland and had so much compassion on you. Just in case you have forgotten, i could refresh your memory

and this one

I contacted you, and we scheduled a meeting at Rita Lori hotel, Bode Thomas. I guaranteed you a job at my firm and we agreed on N50,000 startup salary with an upward review depending on your performance. What was the job? Just manage my facebook page. Lol. Truth be told, if there was actually a vacancy, you might never make it close to the list. I didn't bother briefing my secretary about you because it was against my company's policy: i have no right to recruit or recommend. That rule has kept my business going, thus the N50,000 was coming from my personal pocket which isn't a problem to me as long as am putting food on someones table, after all i spend more than that a week on frivolous things i cant actually account for.

It hurts me to read such especially when its coming from you. Maybe the hotel staff feels you deserve more simply because i lodge often at their hotel. That's my private life. All i wanted was to guaranty you of a monthly income, so i had to commit you with a little job of managing my Facebook page until you get something better. Who pays N50,000 just to manage Facebook page.
