By the way, when you say they fought over this issue, were there any blows thrown? Because that's another issue right there. And the fighting is not going to be less after they get married; rather, it'll be worse, because he clearly has no plans of leaving those girls behind. No need to tell you the ugly outcomes of domestic violence. Listen, marriage is for leaving and cleaving to the ONE, not the many. If he's not ready to do that, maybe he's just not ready, and maybe he's not the one. |

Yes you can immigrate as a family. Go to www.cic.gc.ca and read through the information on the different ways to immigrate (federal, provincial, foreign student, investor,...) |
ancient1: Guys I got into Canada last night. Reporting to you live from Charlottetown, prince Edward island. It was one hell of a journey. Im want to get a phone line now. Trying to be cautious, dont want to make any mistakes.Congrats and welcome to Canada! Remember to dress warm! There is a website that allows you to compare rates for different providers, including those in the PEI area: http://www.comparecellular.com/compare-rate-plans/step2.asp?ProvinceID=10&RegionID=28 Cheaper providers tend to be Fido, Koodoo, Mobilicity, Wind Mobile, Public, etc. Hope this helps. Cheers and all the best! |
Well done! |

kingsolve: It's been enlightening finding this thread. I applied for a study visa in Canada. I submitted my application 16th of september. My admission letter reads that I resume 2nd of January next year. I have not heard from the embassy since. I am so trusting God for favour and quick response. I really would love to meet and talk with the people on this thread seeing you all have been here couple of years before me. I'd love to hear your story and advices, how did you pull through this phase I'm in?Ask on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1229480/travelling-canada-part-4/434 |

ahmedonia4real: Thanks for the repond to my msg well I will be sponsored by my father with a landed property with a marriage certificate to show that I am married as well but no kids yet are these enough to convince them that I will be coming back home after my studies? And what other thing will u sugest I include to make my application a very sound one?To be honest, the visa process is very subjective, which can be challenging for applicants. Basically, you need to tell a logical, convincing, verifiable story to the visa officer about your case. For instance: why did you pick Canada? Why did you pick the school? And the course of study? Why was there such a long break between high school and college? What were you doing then? Why did you decide to go back to school? How will you support yourself financially in Canada? If you're being sponsored, will the person have enough money to cover your tuition, accommodation, etc for at least the 1st year AND be able to continue to take care of themselves and their family back home in Nigeria? Where will you live in Canada? Do you intend to come back? What will bring you back- job waiting for you, family, etc? You need to present whatever documents would support your story. There are no hard and fast rules about this, but you might need documents like a statement of purpose, bank statements, birth cert to support your sponsor's being your dad, etc etc. If you're married, you'll need the cert. If the company you work for says your education will benefit them when you get back, etc etc, that might be useful to include in a letter. If you go to the travelling to Canada thread, you can see lists that people have provided of what they submitted. Hope this helps. In a nutshell, tell a good story that makes sense, and support it well. And by the way, I always suggest sticking to the truth; it's easier to support. |
PlayPays: Just a correction- you're very wrong....Just picked up on this...fair enough, stick with the nuance of the language of the original http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-offcampus.asp |
adewaleafolabi: I got my passport today and was asked to pay for a year tuition and board.Well, you can really only pay for what you can pay for at this stage, right? If they'll only take your money for one semester, go for it. And if you can get something from the homestay family in support of your board (have you paid them?), you should. |
Why ? |
ahmedonia4real: @ ifegy plz I applied to seneca college and I've been accepted to study B/admin but what I want to confirm is I completed my secondary school in year 2003 do I need a letter from employer to apply for a study permit @ cdhc?It depends on what purpose the letter would serve (homes ties, that you're coming back to work for them, etc?). The main thing is that you need to convince the consulate that you are a real student, you've got the required funding and that you intend to return after your studies. If the letter would help in anyway to achieve that goal, then use it. |
senatoks: @Ifegy. Thanks bros! honestly i quite understood your point, but my profession is not listed on the link .... ....and am getting more confused mayne...Have you looked at the various provincial (nominee) programs? |

Canadidacy: ChriGo wat's ur view about using admission letter from private universities & chances of obtaining trv.Just a reminder- you can only qualify for the work permit program for foreign students if you are studying at a public institution. |
senatoks: @Chrigo, thanks for dropping your cents, its quite appreciated, i will think about your advice. @Candidacy, my brother, Canada does not have any masters program in Estate Mgt o, but am still checking tho. In case you come across one or any related field do hesitate to help. Still waiting for more comment tho. Cheers! To be honest, based on your qualifications (education, work experience, family situation, etc), your applying for a diploma/masters/PGD seems to be indicative of wanting to 'jump the immigration queue'; i.e., get into Canada on a student visa and then immigrate, in order to shorten the time it would otherwise take to become a permanent resident using the designated route for qualified professionals. That would be grounds for refusal, since that would be abusing the purpose of a student visa. I hope this makes sense. This is not to say that you will be absolutely unable to get a student visa in your circumstances. However, if you were going for a PhD, for instance, your student visa application would make more sense. We all know that a lot of people who come in as students do eventually immigrate, but there's a different 'look and feel' for someone coming in to do a bachelor's or their first masters, compared to someone in your shoes. Those other applicants 'look and feel' more like a genuine student application, as opposed to someone trying to get an immigration short cut via a student visa. All of that to say- if you haven't already done so, why not consider immigrating as a professionally skilled person? There are a number of options -federal/provincial applicant, etc. There's a thread on nairaland devoted to this: https://www.nairaland.com/1279130/canadian-federal-skilled-worker-program-timelines Ultimately, however, it's your choice, your decision. If you want to pursue the student route, nothing stops you. Just thought I'd point out an observation that might not have been immediately obvious. Cheers and all the best. |
Hmmm....a fiancee there? A short time ago, this was posted: https://www.nairaland.com/1429521/need-lady-give-me-true Please think carefully before going there to hustle. It's not a rich country to begin with, and as somebody said, it's so small that you will stick out like a sore thumb. It will be very easy for the authorities to find you. |

aycsharp: pls is their anyone who has successfully applied to University of Manitoba, I need assistance on how to go about it and whether the school requires GRE from Nigerians. You might get a better response asking on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1229480/travelling-canada-part-4 |
klems4real: @ifegy...your mentoring qualities are quite exceptional. Am so proud of you ...HI Klems, your best bet is probably to have a look at the website for the association of universities and colleges of Canada, which has a database of lots of study programs: www.aucc.ca, http://www.aucc.ca/canadian-universities/study-programs/ The links will lead you to the various universities, and you can use the detailed info to make your choice, based on program content, co-op options, etc. |
