Long PPR Gist Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Timeline

Decision to travel: Second half of 2017 (but still was not 100% decided)

Final decision to travel: May 2018

IELTS: April 21, 2018

WES: August 24, 2018

ITA: October 15, 2018

AOR: November 10, 2018

MEP/BIL: December 11, 2018

Biometrics: December 12, 2018

ADR: February 27, 2019 (submitted same day)

Ghost Update: April 16, 2019 (Additional documents moved from “We are reviewing…” to “Not Applicable”)

PPR: 2:07am of April 17, 2019 (dated April 16, 2019)

Main Gist

Conclusion: No two applications are the same. Make your application as detailed as you can bearing in mind the peculiarity of your case. Knowing what I know now, I would package my application differently if I were to do it over as there were a number of things I felt I did not really do right. However, rather than have sleepless nights and raise unnecessary CSEs, I handed it all to God and he came through for me.

Benediction: My prayer for everyone reading this is that no matter what stage you are in on this journey, the eternal one would do for you what he has done for me at the perfect time. God bless us all. Ire akari o. We shall all meet in our new home, Canada.
Big congratulations!!!!

I feel like I have gotten PPR already and I never even write my test. Please allow me to celebrate about our little achievement.

So last two weeks Sunday, I and wify left for Lagos to start weac processing and her transcript. We met one elderly woman opposite the weac gate and we paid the fees she told us even though she was acting so unconcerned and hurry-up-and-pay-kinda-attitude. We spent about 28k or so because wify used GCE. We Sha left and concluded all the weac issues. We were told it will take 3 weeks for weac to process it. We proceeded to her school which was close. We met a nice and God sent woman in the transcript department of YABATECH and she helped us. She told us it will take 3 weeks to prepare the transcript before wify did different programs in ND and HND. I tipped her though. Na she dey call for updates about my wify's certificate and transcript. grin

Now you are wondering why I wrote this even though I have not written my ielts exam Abi?
I read a post here about the delay we might experience due to the upcoming WEAC exam and it could delay the process. I was tired and had to make sure we finish our part and live the rest to God. We did a calculation that by end of June we will get ITA. We prayed to God to touch waec and YABATECH to send the documents on time.

Guess what? We received our waec tracking number last night and got the YABATECH tracking number this morning as we used UPS. We paid N13,500.

So, we hope that if it gets to WES by this weekend, we start counting 35 working days from next week. Our June target is still on track.
Our test is next month and God's willing, we are going to WRITE IT ONCE. YES, ONCE!!! BELIEVE, WORK HARD AND GOD WILL DO THE REST.

Since I found out about Express Entry, This thread has become my second bae and ielts materials my third bae. Wify is the PA inbtw. I sleep and dream of life in Canada. We are newly married and we have decided to chill with baby making till we get to Canada. I am one of those that has made inquiries about accommodation. No day we don't discuss about life in Canada.

Point is, which ever level you are, celebrate it. It's not easy. I believe in the end, we will all be alright.

Start your process if you have not.
Get all the necessary documents ready.

@IFEOMA77 has been of great help. We appreciate you. Our ielts Prof Wasiu, we appreciate you too. To all IELTS AND ECA CLINCHERS, good news will be your portion, to ALL OUR PPR CLINCHERS, GOD HAS DONE IT. Now go and prosper in your new land. Don't listen to any negative vibes.
Thanks to everyone who has answered any of my silly questions. Daalunu!
I am so happy for you.
However, your 35 days start counting from the day verification is received. So try and follow it up in Yabatech.
Congrats again
We move!!

Thanks for the response. Please can I raise a CSE to explain myself or what to do now.

I think you should first go to VFS and try to get the biometrics done. Then raise CSE with an explanation.

Hello house,

Please i need help/ clarification.

We were asked for biometrics in December 2018, but when we got there, the person capturing said I don't need to capture because i did one during my visitor visit visa process and it still valid. And true to what she said, before going for the capture, our app has already updated my biometrics number and valid date of expiring (2024).

So my wife captured but i didn't.

From my GCMS notes i got few days ago, i can see that my wife passed criminality but mine is saying biometrics not received. However, my biometric information is still in the app, and after my wfe captured the biometric part of the app shows completed.

I am now confused as to the reason my GCMS states that biometrics in progress.

Has anyone experienced this?
You were supposed to capture.
Even if you get refused a PR application after biometrics, and you reapply, you will need to capture again.
The person at the VFS center misled you.

Morning house...

I'm getting married soon and adding hubby post COPR. Hence, I'd be required to return my passport for the initial COPR to be cancelled. Please will I be mandated to submit a new passport to reflect "married" status and change in surname for the new visa stamp?

What are the implications? Or am I to submit present passport showing "single" status alone?

Anyone with info should please help...thanks
You can use your current passport. It's not passport that they use in checking marital status

Were you paid during the training period? If yes, you might consider writing LOE and adding SoA showing salary deposits.
Only then can you claim one year

Alot has been said already about carrying oil, bribing customs, beautiful landscapes, I do think the real reason most leave the comfort of their own Country is to get a decent job in Canada.
And to me this is the prayer of many including myself so I am not gonna bore you with what airlines I took or what we ate on the plane, that has been overflogged already.

I am gonna focus mostly on what I think is the best approach to getting a job as soon as possible based on my own experience. I do think IT practitioners would benefit most from this post but I believe there would be some take home for everyone regardless of which is your profession.

I was just about a year and some months into IT before I left Naija, Although I had written CCNA more than 10 years ago which eventually proved extremely pivotal in getting this wonderful role with a great company. To put things in proper perspective, my experience was very superficial and extremely disjointed. I could not claim to be a database admin, or network expert, or security professional or infrastructure guru.
So I claimed to be a service desk/helpdesk/desktop professional.

Point 1 : If you have atleast 1 year experience in IT your best route is to look towards the Servicedesk/Technical support /Enduser support role to get a lee way into the world of IT in Canada, If you have considerable experience in IT I'd advise you do a certification in that area to give you some credibility in the eye of the employers.

So how does this affect all the other professions or what can other professions too take away from this. I have a friend a physiotherapist in Naija but her profession will require some exams before she could practice. What happens is that even if she eventually passess the exam she would still be overqualified for most entry level roles and Canadians don't usually throw people without Canadian experience into managerial positions except in very rare cases. Rather than just wait for months to get into a particular role, you could plan to get into a role that is related into your targeted role even if the pay is not much. The idea is to hang around the corridor of the career you wanna do long term.

For health professionals, I'd advise you do a First aid / Aed course first week of landing and start looking out for Personal Support Worker jobs or something related to that. For people in Engineering, you could do a 3 month plc programming course in Naija and edit your resume as a technician instead of an Engineer to give you an edge. This brings me to my next point..

Point 2 : Most jobs in Canada do not require an MSC so please loose the MSC and put ur BSC

Point 3: Your resume is the key to your happiness

Point 4 : Whatever you plan to do long term and regardless of how much money you carried try get into any kind of job at most 3 months but make sure your survival job will give you chance for interviews and job fairs.

Point 5 : Job fairs are critical

to be continued............
Thanks for sharing.
Loving this write-up but I don't get point 2. Why?

LONG VERSION

[b]
Ready for Visa / Prêt pour Visa landed gently at 2:13 AM, April 16, 2019 (it was dated April 15).

Thanks to all of you in the thread for keeping me sane. Answering your questions does me a world of good. It satisfies my need to poke my nose into other people's business, spend hours searching for information online and render (un)solicited advice.

I have a dream that all of our hopes and dreams about Canada will come true.
Wow!!! That was a journey indeed. Funny how things have a way of working out in the end. The MBA turned out useful after all and the Job threat activated the EE ginger. The long ECA timeline allowed for time to rethink and add Madam while the arrival of little Joo triggered the dusting of the file that had been parked since December.
Congratulations again and again Joo, I am so so happy for you and your family. Canada awaits!

When life throws you a curve ball you swing for the fences

Let me start by saying I have been on this thread long enough to see same questions and answers repeated a thousand times over. Please my people, especially those just stumbling on the thread, page one (1) is a gold mine of information, reading and researching yourself cannot be over emphasized. Page 1 and most especially the IRCC webpage should be your trusted source of info as NO TWO applications are same. I commend those who take out their time to populate page 1…..kudos

With other VO you wake up to see the golden mail, but with AVO you spend the whole day checking and waiting for the mail to drop. I was at my mechanic when I checked to see the golden mail staring back at me and as I made calls to my wife and then my mum I became a baby again without a care in the world who was watching……it is/was a good feeling….trust me.

So many challenges on the road but who's laughing now? It has ended is sweet praise!!
Big congratulations again

Quite sad, so many people are excited to flee their motherland to help grow and build up a white man's land. It's just like what my friend used to say, 'immigration is modern day slavery except this time they do not have to forcibly chain able bodied men to slave ships or rape our women, they just make it easier for your youngest and brightest minds to simply emigrate in droves'. Who will build this country if you all leave, have you ever thought of that? You think once you run to Canada you will still have any reason to return home? How about your kids? Do you think by taking them to Nigeria for 3weeks vacation will entice them to one day relocate to their father land? Sure nobody thinks about these things. The biggest problem the black race has is selfishness while the white man thinks about the greater good of a community. Everyone only thinks about what will benefit them and their family and that's where it ends. Even in the so called abroad, your fellow Nigerian will not want to accommodate or guide you because they think you will be better than them. Common info about schools, work or getting certain government documents, your fellow Nigerian in the diaspora will not help you. White countries and white people In general are successful because they collaborate and help each other. U.S, Canada and the UK are amongst the most developed countries today due to strong trade and military alliance. A white employer will hire a fellow white man for a lucrative job position before he hires an immigrant with the same credentials.

Before anyone says I'm ranting because I was denied Visa or whatever PPR thing you guys relish here like a lottery ticket, I also used to think abroad was the be all end all after graduating from university. I also hustled and eventually left Nigeria. I made $265,000 that year working several overtime hours (I have the W-2 and tax return forms to prove it) but I was never really satisfied because this part of me kept feeling like I betrayed my country. It takes a special kind of person to self reflect and then decide to walk away from a lifestyle of adequate security, good health care system, great schools, cheap food and law & order but without any sacrifice, Nigeria will perpetually remain a 3rd world cesspool. I moved back, got a job and started a mentorship and scholarship program where we find youths whose families are unable to pay their elementary and secondary school fees and we partner with local businesses to raise funds for these kids. School isn't for everyone, we also train several kids in IT, carpentry, plumbing, construction and mini importation. Has it been easy? No. Do I sometimes miss the convenience of my 2 bedroom apartment in north Los Angeles? You bet I do. But do I feel accomplished knowing that I'm making a positive change in small ways that will alleviate poverty, possibly reduce crime and put more food on the tables of a few Nigerians? Certainly.

The UN needs to look into countries like Canada that take advantage of the dire situation in Nigeria and prowl on our brightest and youngest minds for the sole purpose of developing their country and replacing their aging workforce. Just today, their Prime minister was begging President Buhari to give him 1 million Nigerians. This just sounds like the year 1756 where the white man met with local chiefs and traded silver, mirrors and gun powder for African slaves. While I know most of you have made up your mind to flee your motherland, the least I can urge you to do is to find reputable charities and NGOs in Nigeria and donate to them once in a while. Goodluck.
We thank you for your sacrifice and wish you more power as you build the country

The journey so far.....

I asked a while ago if it was possible to send mine and husband's transcripts together, and I got different advice here. So i mailed CES,In order to be certain, and i got this response after 1 month:

Dear...........,

Thank you for contacting the School of Continuing Studies Service Desk. You can find the response to your request, CES EVALUATION, and the full history below.

ELS Representative (School of Continuing Studies)

Mar 6, 11:51 EST

Good morning,

We apologize for the delay in writing back as we have been in a high-volume period.

If it is possible to do so, then yes you can request that the university send your documents along with your husband's; it would be easy for us to track if they come in the same package rather than separately.

I have been on transcript wahala since February but OAU PG school won't let me be great, so my transcripts finally got delivered today; come and see how i have been doing my happy dance since - I'm wondering what will happen when i pass my IELTS or even when PPR shows. But hey! Let's celebrate little victories too.
IELTS, please be nice!

First of all, congratulations! It has ended in praise!!!!

Bhet why?? sad

So you haven't been active? That is minus 3

But despite your inactivity, you still sneak in and read through the long long essays, scripts, answers, comments, links, very good, you get 1 mark for your silent participation.

Now even after benefiting from all the information, you then decided to give back with a script of just 3 lines without timelines Why That is minus 16

But thank you for your prayers, for that you get 2 marks.

As an example to others who might contemplate submitting this type of script, I take the two marks back and minus 1 from it

Total: -19/10

Congrats again and all the best in Canada.

Goodness Gracious grin grin
