Lazyyouth4u: For busy risk averse people that would rather focus on their jobs and real life hustle, the money market/fixed income market is just more straightforward and can be done by anyone. Simply put your money in Tbills, bonds, etc and continue your hustle.
Unfortunately, the rates don crash so risk averse people must enter equities market to get better returns. But these returns come at the expense of one’s time and high stress levels. The manipulations at some companies and those by the speculators and big boys is enough to give man pikin heart attack. Is it worth it?
Personally, for equities (my preference is foreign equities sha), I think investing indirectly through solid mutual funds and letting the fund managers deal with all the wahala of diversification, monitoring and rebalancing is more efficient for busy folks. I will gladly pay the management fees and avoid dealing with all the wahala.
My opinion... I Dey tell you |

DexterousOne: If these two hypotheticals hold I.e. rates going up, and equities market taking a hit.... That's an "IF" The major card that retail investors can play in the equities space is to pick a few sound companies in the dip. At least that's what I'm gonna do if these were to occur Am also looking forward to a few picks next year if the “IF” happens |

DexterousOne: As usual Rambling and rambling with no substance Call me a "boy" all you want That's your own prerogative And your fundamental human right as a nigerian
However, you are living a sad and pathetic life You just dont know it
All I did as a professional was to correct you on your mistake, on that your talk on "unearned income " You could not accept that you were wrong
And you went digging through my many old posts, as the jobless simpleton that you are, in order to look for the smallest thing to "discredit me"
Only for you to post old posts of mine, and then make ridiculous assumptions about someone you dont know personally That's really messed up you know?
Calling me an "audio" person ceaselessly and baselessly I wonder whether you are even a B.Sc graduate sef, because if you were you would have understood that sometimes (and in certain circumstances) there is a time lag between when someone finishes his studies and when he is cleared for youth service But that chapter is closed, no need to reopen it
Now you are on Ahib case Spewing crap about someone who is ahead of you in life
Imagine the bolded comment up there Someone comes here to make posts based on his own experiences and what he knows And someone else is assuming that others thought I was an experienced person
Does that even make sense to you ? What is wrong with what I have been posting ? Posting information based on your own sphere is now a crime right ?
Now you assume that because I made moves to emigrate from the country I must be an unemployed person And a frustrated person As if it is an unemployed person that can even opt in for Express entry
How ridiculous When Ahib was making those claims about your youtube ventures and all those other things he said I couldn't make judgements based on that And call you an efulefu Because as all sensible people do You dont make wild assumptions and judgements Based on just posts
I'll tell you this thing Better fix your self esteem issues It will do you a lot of good Attention seeking on a faceless forum will not add value to you I suggest you go for therapy It will do you a lot of good Typing long epistle? A lot of spare time I guess. |

jajeri3216: Can you make batteries, computers, aircraft's, pharmaceuticals, construction, mobile phones without natural resources?
Rich countries buy cheap commodities from the global market and add value to it , then sell back to poor countries for maximum profit.
Essentially rich countries are rich because they know how to create wealth.
Poor countries are poor because they don't determine commodity prices and lack the innovation to create wealth.(western cheats).
Contrary to other view points, Nigeria is actually a rich country that lacks innovation.
Population is not the problem.
How does a country become innovative?
Environment, ip protection, entrepreneural and risk taking culture, infrastructure and education. Good one |

Lazyyouth4u: If oil majors, telecoms companies and other multinationals along with our few billionaires are pulling out billions of dollars every year, it means that there is money in the country. There is a reason why they kill themselves to come here and not to poor countries like Somalia, Gambia or Sierra Leone.
If government wasn’t so corrupt and could slow the population growth rate while making the business environment more conducive to foster fair competition (and not allowing just a few individuals to be cashing out consistently), we will see more equitable distribution of the wealth and the changes in our standard of living. God bless you |

Lazyyouth4u: Read my comment again. Very carefully. Never in that comment did I mention that Nigeria is a rich country because of its untapped natural resources. I talked about our GDP and the fact that we are the sixth producers of oil. I haven’t even mentioned how much Nigeria makes from our LNG exports. As a country, Nigeria is not poor.
I only compared Japan’s human capital to our natural resources as someone mentioned Japan’s human capital advantage somewhere in one of those comments.
Btw, your analogy was not a good one. Nigeria can be compared to a rich man with 600 children that owns a lot of undeveloped land in prime locations. He hasn’t sold most of the land or developed them yet but he would make a lot more money when he develops all his land or sells them. The only problem is that he has too many illiterate and criminal children. When he dies, the wealth will not go round and will be kept and squandered by a few of his older criminal children while the younger ones languish in poverty.
The country makes and has lots of money. But the people are poor. The key issues are unsustainable population growth, bad leadership, corruption and inequality.
Have a great day! I am beginning to like this lazyyouth I like to buy you a plate of ise-ewu...No mind that guy way dey give analogy wey confuse my head |

ositadiima1: In terms of raw GDP Nigeria is first in Africa and number 30 in the world.
In terms GDP per capita at PPP, Nigeria is 17th in Africa and number 135 (IMF) in the world.
From wikipedia: "Gross domestic product (GDP) is a monetary measure of the market value of all the final goods and services produced in a specific time period. GDP (nominal) per capita does not, however, reflect differences in the cost of living and the inflation rates of the countries; therefore, using a basis of GDP per capita at purchasing power parity (PPP) is arguably more useful when comparing living standards between nations, while nominal GDP is more useful comparing national economies on the international market. "
Corruption aside, given our population, Nigeria is not doing that well. A family of 4 that earns 350k a month is far better than a family of 15 that earns 1 mil per month. with proper management of our resources, nigeria will move up the list. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by igbizen(m): 8:27am On Dec 14, 2020 |
Lazyyouth4u: This guy is actually right. Only thing is Nigeria is not the second or third wealthiest but the wealthiest country in Africa with a GDP of over USD400bn. The sixth largest producer of oil in the world cannot be a poor country. Nigeria is not a poor country!
Its citizens may be poor but as a country, Nigeria is not poor.
And he stated clearly what the issues are. Corruption, bad leadership and inequality. I will add the biggest issue which is high unsustainable population growth.
What Japan may have as an advantage in human capital, Nigeria has more than enough in natural resources. Exactly..i was wondering why they say the country is poor...the citizens are poor, but the country is rich but mismanaged. Dubai was once poor, until resources were properly managed. |

But I know you can't make 10% per month on a consistent basis, you can make 40% in January, lose 50% in February, make another 20% in March, 10% in April, lose 15% in May and gain 8% in June.
