Community leader of Umuopu community in Igbo-Eze North local government area, LGA, Enugu state Hon, Owelle Ejikeme has charged members of the community vigilante to be committed and diplomatic in controlling crime.



Owelle who made this call at Umuopu community, while inaugurating new members of the vigilante on weekend, stated that vigilante is a group of committed people at the micro level of the community, set up to collate information on suspected criminals in its area, for use by the police in the detection and prevention of crime.

He also commended governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state for his commitment over the insecurity which erupted recently in the state.

Recall that a new commissioner of Police was deployed to Enugu state command few weeks ago to tackle the security challenges of the state.

Owelle who is the Senior Special Assistant, SSA, on security to Igbo-Eze North local government chairman has recruited over 50 men into the Neighborhood watch in his community to tackle security challenges in the area.

He also pointed out that he has made proper arrangement with the police to train and retrain neighborhood watch on security intelligence and proper scrutinizing.

“I am sure that all of you will be committed concerning the security of our people. You have to be dedicated in delivering your duties, because our community is very close to the boundary with Benue state where people from other states can enter at any point in time.

“I am making arrangement with the Nigerian police to come and train you on intelligence community policing and other areas that will help you to keep security of lives and property tight”, Owelle said.

The councillor, representing Umuozzi ward 9 in Igbo-Eze north LGA, Hon Itodo George, who commended the Vigilante for their efforts in keeping the security of the area very tight, urged them to be determined in fighting crime in the area.

“I am pleased with the performance of vigilante in our community so far. You can call on me whenever you need my support to make sure we reduce crime to the barest minimum”, George said.

Neighborhood watch chairman of Umuopu community, Mr Mama Simon, lauded Hon. Owelle for his commitment to reforming the security of the community and local government area respectively.

Mama pointed out that his recent award as the best Neighbourhood watch chairman in the council area was achieved through the security directives of Hon. Owelle.

Gov. Ugwuanyi Inspects Ongoing Road Projects In Nsukka Urban(Photos)


Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Permanent Secretary and a team of engineers from the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, on Thursday, inspected ongoing roads construction in Nsukka Urban, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the governor and the team of engineers visited the construction sites at the New Anglican Road and Obechara Junction-Bishop Shanahan section of Aku Road, Nsukka.

After the inspection, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure directed the construction company handling the two projects to stop work to enable the Ministry and Stakeholders of Amaeze Ani and Amaokpo Echara communities in Nsukka, meet and proffer solution for the flood routing/outflows from the catchment areas.

Thereafter, the affected two road projects, which have not been rehabilitated for decades, will be re-designed to address the identified challenges to serve the public better.

"Don't Come Back To Nigeria" - Deji Adeyanju Warns Nigerians Living In South Africa

Nigerian activist, Deji Adeyanju, has warned Nigerians living in South Africa not to come back home despite ongoing xenophobic attacks, Igbere TV reports.

Adeyanju, in a video posted on his social media, advised Nigerians living in South Africa to defend themselves against attack but never come back home due to the terrible state of things in Nigeria.

Igbere TV had reported that Air Peace offered free flight to Nigerians willing to come back home following the attacks on them in South Africa.

Adeyanju said, “I read the news about Air Peace volunteering to bring Nigerians back from South Africa but my opinion to my brothers in South Africa is that they shouldn’t come back because Nigeria is even worse.

“Cows have more value here and they are killing people every day and the government is not doing anything or saying anything.

“Don't come back, I don't advise any of you to come back to this country because if you do, you will regret it.

"Stay and fight and defend yourself because after all, we are all Africans.”

A popular 'mad man' who always criticize top Nigerian politicians has been arrested in Aba, Igbere TV reports.


Igbere TV recalls that last year, prior to 2019 general elections, the 'madman' was spotted in owerri blasting then Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha for corruption, collapse of infrastructures, collapse of economy and poor sanitation in the state.



In a video obtained by Igbere TV, the man said he was never a mad man.

He confessed being recruited by politicians to speak against the government and governor of Abia State.


According to him, People like Jude Osiagwu, Innocent Anosike, Ugochukwu Oriaku, Chima Onuoha, Augusta Uri paid him 10,000 to speak against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

He alleged that these people are working for Alex Otti and seriously want to bring Ikpeazu down.


"I'm living in Aba and I grew up in here too."

"I finished my Secondary school in Doris Secondary School in Aba. So, I'm bonifade child of Aba."

"Dr. Emmanuel, a chaplaincy of Umuahia government House, met me sometime last month and asked me my mind about the government of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu."

"I told him my mind. That I hope in this his second tenure that he will work very well. That me personally, I'm campaigning for Ikpeazu to become the president of Nigeria in 2023."

"And the video went viral, few days later , that's on Tuesday, some men came to me. They told me to do another video, asking me how much I was paid to speak in favour of Ikpeazu, telling me to do another video against Ikpeazu. They gave me N10, 000 and promised to change my situation. They asked me to speak in the market here about the poor infrastructure in Abia State."

"I told them that I have spoken that Okezie Ikpeazu has four years and this four years is enough for him to wipe up anything about poor infrastructure."

"They told me that they want to campaign against the state government. They kept on monitoring me. To extent that they came to where I do sleep at night."

"I do sleep at Orji Uzor Bridge but in the night sometimes, I do sleep at New Vertine."


He further alleged that some Biafrans are working against achieving the sovereign state of Biafra.

He said this is the right time for Biafrans to come together and work in achieving the it."


He, however, mentioned names of those he has worked for.

According to him,

"People like Judes Osiagwu, Innocent Anosike, Ugochukwu Oriaku, Chima Onuoha, Augusta Uri.

"These people are working for Alex Otti and they seriously want to bring Ikpeazu down."

"I want to use this opportunity to apologise for criticising Ikpeazu on that video, I was under durex when I spoke against him in this market."

Gov. Obiano Reacts Over Xenophobic Attacks in South Africa

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has condemned in the strongest terms possible, the ongoing xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other black immigrants in South Africa.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, James Eze, Governor Obiano expressed his disapproval of the virulent attacks which have triggered a dangerous diplomatic row between Nigeria and South Africa.

According to the statement, governor Obiano said; "We are traumatized by the bloody images that have been streaming out of South Africa which is home to a sizable number of Anambra business men and women earning a living across different cities."

Speaking further, the governor said, "We are worried about the colossal loss of lives and property caused by this avoidable mayhem which has become a recurrent decimal in a country that ought to be a better example to other African countries."

He urged the South African government to step in and stop the bloodshed and preserve what is left of the ties that bind South Africa to other African countries.

Commending the Federal Government for the bold steps it has taken so far to wake up the South African government to the dangers of the deadly attacks, Governor Obiano called for more dialogue between the leaders of both countries to ensure immediate end to the carnage and a lasting solution to xenophobia in South Africa.

He condoled with the families of victims of the attacks, saying "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their dear ones to these horrific attacks. I want to assure you that Anambra State is monitoring developments in South Africa with close interest."

Following xenophobic attack in South Africa, angry youths have set MTN Office on fire in the Bodija area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital, Igbere TV has learnt.

According to report, the office had earlier been shut over widespread attacks on South African companies in the country.

Igbere TV had reported that irate protesters had attempted to vandalise the office during the day but security operatives resisted the attack.

Meanwhile, some hoodlums regrouped at night and set the office on fire.

Xenophobia: Zambia Cancels International Friendly Game With S’Africa


Following the xenophobic attack, Zambia Football Association (ZFA) has cancelled the international friendly game against Bafana Bafana of South Africa at Heroes Stadium on Saturday, Igbere TV has learnt.

Igbere TV reports that the cancellation came on the heels of the recent xenophobic attack going on in the country.

The national team feared that the game could lead to further diplomatic attacks if the game is allowed to be played.

Football, which is seen as a uniting factor that not only links but strengthens and mend relationships, will not be able to do what it is known for globally.

Andrew Kamanga, president of FAZ confirmed the cancellation on Robert Marawa’s Sport Worldworld.

“The game is off, and we communicated that to SAFA and they understood. We have been talking to try and monitor the situation,” Kamanga said on the show.

Nnamdi Kanu Speaks On Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has condemned the ongoing xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreigners in South Africa, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that there was an ongoing xenophobic attacks on foreigners in South Africa. There have been looting, destruction of property and murder of black foreigners, mostly Nigerians, in the country.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV, Kanu condemned the act and described it 'Shameful carnage'.

The IPOB leader stated that irrespective of the course for '#BiafraExit', he still condemn in totality the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Enugu: Ugwuanyi Concentrates Development More In Rural Areas - Reps Member(Photos)


The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, Rt. Hon. Wole Oke, has described the leadership qualities of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, as a peaceful, humble, focused, hard working and grassroots politician who has concentrated massive development more in the rural areas than in the state capital, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Rt. Hon. Oke who spoke when members of the Ad-hoc Committee on Investigation and Monitoring of Recruitment of Nigerians by MDAs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, paid a courtesy call on the governor at the Government House, Enugu, stated that they were impressed with the level of progress going on in the rural communities of Enugu State.

The parliamentarian also described Gov. Ugwuanyi as “a lawmaker who makes his point without waging war; without humiliating or harassing anybody”, stressing: “that is the style His Excellency bequeathed to us in the parliament”.

Rt. Hon. Oke, who is representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State, added that they were delighted that the governor has deployed the style in the governance of Enugu State, as he has “turned to be an apostle of peace, a politician who bears no grudges against anybody, a politician who nurtures no bitterness or ill will against anybody”.

According to him, “that is why Enugu has remained a peaceful state and has witnessed the level of progress we have seen in the rural areas unlike what we have in other states where a governor will concentrate development in the state capital”.

Speaking further on Gov. Ugwuanyi’s achievements, Rt. Hon. Oke said: “In the case of Enugu State, we see a governor who is grassroots-oriented, a governor who has employed over 5,000 teachers to look after the young ones, our future leaders. We see a governor who employed 1,700 Forest Guards to enhance the security of the state. We see that as an example for other governors to follow.

“One lesson from Enugu State is that we have a governor who has managerial skills, a governor who has a federal exposure, a governor who is a financial engineer, and that is why Enugu is making progress.”

On why they were in Enugu, the public accounts committee chairman, explained that the ad-hoc committee was constituted by the 9th Assembly to investigate petitions and complaints by Nigerians over unemployment in the country caused by “those who are in the civil service and have refused to retire, but doctor their files, change their age and block young ones from coming on board.

“This is what has brought us to the state. So the essence of this is to tell Nigerians that the 9th Assembly is mindful of the trust they have given to us; that we will look after the interest of the electorate who gave us their mandate to represent them in the parliament”.

Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, in attendance.

The meeting which has issues of security and closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, high on the agenda, also has the following in attendance: The Minister of Aviation, Hon. Hadi Sirika; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, represented by the GOC, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Why President Buhari Will Not Come Back From Japan - Nnamdi Kanu Reveals


The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently in Japan will not come back to Nigeria because his members have encircled his hideout and will make sure that he is apprehended.


In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Friday, Kanu said that IPOB members will never allow President Buhari to leave Japan. Even if they try to smuggle him out by hiding him in a diplomatic bag, they shall get hold of him.

He further alleged that the blood of those Nigerian Government killed through their Army and Police as a result of Operation Python Dance including those that fell at Nkpor, Onitsha, Enugu, Aba, Afaraukwu, Ngwa, Mbiama and Igweocha are crying from the grave.


The statement reads in parts,

"We smell blood and are closing in for the kill. Jubril-Buhari is encircled and trapped by IPOB in his hideout in a Yokohama hotel. There is no escape for him. EFCC Arrests 12 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in a Yahoo yahoo School(Photo)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 12 suspected Internet fraudsters in Lagos, Igbere TV has learnt.

Igbere TV reports that the suspects-Oluwaseun Ogunbunmi, Haruna Yusuf , Olubori Hassan, Wasiu Idowu, Basit Adeniran, Aina Olajuwon, Okafor Joseph, David Ado, Olamide Ogunseye, Opeyemi Ahmed , Monsuru Amao, Taiwo Rasak- were arrested on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in a rented three-bedroom apartment in the Ikotun area of Lagos, where they used as a Yahoo Yahoo school.

The arrest followed intelligence reports received from concerned members of the public about their alleged criminal activities.

During the raid, some of the suspects attempted to flee by hiding on the roof of their apartment.

Items recovered from the suspects include laptops and mobile phones.
The suspect will soon be charged to court.

Heavy Protest Rocks Ebonyi State As Govt. Shuts Down Shops


Following the closure of some shops in Abakpa main market, over one thousand persons on Friday launched a massive protest, Igbere TV reports.


Igbere TV gathered that the shops were shut down by some alleged government officials.

Igbere TV recalls that two days ago there was bloody clash that ensued between the marketers and government taskforce, which according to report led to lost of life and destruction of property worth millions of naira by thugs.


Igbere TV gathered that the marketers protested the closure of the market for the third day, and asked the governor, David Umahi to direct his aides to open the market to enable them continue with their businesses.

Some of the shops owners who spoke off record, lamented of gross loss of huge amount of money, as well as customers as a result of the market closure.

“Since the closed the market, my customers have been calling me to supply them goods and I’m worried about it. I have lost a lot of things as a result of this ugly development.


“I believe by Monday, the market will be opened but if not, there will be serious problem,” she said.

It was equally gathered that the shops owners allegedly attacked the shop of the caretaker chairman of the Abakpa main market, Mr. Peter Oba for allegedly conniving with the government taskforce to course them havoc.

Insecurity: IG Flags off Anti-cultism Campaign in Enugu

In a bid to tackle the increasing spate of cult-related activities across the geo-political zones in the country, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in Enugu yesterday flagged off the Police Campaign against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), Igbere TV reports.




Igbere TV reports that the campaign, among other things, is intended to ensure the adoption and implementation of community policing for adequate protection of lives and property of citizens.

Speaking at the ceremony, the police chief said the campaign would not have come at a better time than now when cultism and other vices have permeated every aspect of the society.

Represented by the Assistant Inspector General Zone 9, Tijani Baba, the IGP said the campaign was also in line with the federal government’s resolve to reduce the increasing rate of crime in the society.

According to him, everybody must be involved in the fight against cultism and other vices in order to make sure that the society is safe for all to thrive.

He added that the Nigeria Police Force as part of its efforts to ensure the safety of the citizens is recruiting 40,000 policing officers to take care of various communities across the country.

‘’The officers will functions to complement the efforts of the police in protecting lives. We are drawing the officers from the different communities because they will better understand the various threats in their communities’’ he said.

He said the duty of the officers would be very important because they would serve as a bridge between people in communities and the police in terms of providing information about possible threats.

He called on all relevant stakeholders to partner with the police in preaching the need for all and sundry to work towards a crime-free society.

Also speaking at the event, Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, said the state would continue to partner the police and other security agencies in the state to ensure that all criminal activities are tackled.

Ugwuanyi, who was represented by the state Head of Service, Chidi Nnadi, thanked the Enugu State Police Command for its efforts so far in dealing with crime in the state.

High points of the event were the inauguration of the National Youth Service Corps POCACOV Community Development Service, CDS and the unveiling of POCACOV Ambassadors, including players in the entertainment industry.

Gov. Emmanuel Udom Donates More Cars To Police(Photos)

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday donated 12 new Volvo vehicles to the Police in the state, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Governor Udom made the presentation on Wednesday after the state executive Council meeting in Uyo.

Speaking to Igbere TV on the development, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security and Special Services, Capt Iniobong Ekong(Rtd), said more support will be given the the police in terms of logistics.

He said the 12 vehicles were for constant patrol around Eket Eket Senatorial District, adding that the choice of Volvo was informed by its durability.

Gov. Ugwuanyi Receives NSCDC New State Commandant, Agro Rangers on Herders/Farmers Issues


Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Wednesday, received the new Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Command, E. C. Obiyo, Igbere TV reports.


Igbere TV reports that the new commandant of Enugu State paid a courtesy call on Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to formally introduce himself and seek the governor's support and cooperation before assuming office fully.

The new Commandant, who was accompanied by Heads of Departments of the Command, also used the opportunity to introduce a team of trained officers, specialized in handling herders/farmers issues, popularly known as Agro Rangers.

While welcoming the Commandant to Enugu State, Gov. Ugwuanyi pledged his administration's support and cooperation towards the Command's efforts in enhancing the peace and security of the state.

What We Will Do To President Buhari Once He Is Arrested In Japan - Nnamdi Kanu Reveals

The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari will be handed over to the Japanese authorities once he is arrested in Japan, Igbere TV reports.

In a live broadcast being monitored by Igbere TV, Kanu said he is not happy that President Buhari whom he described as Jibril hasn't been arrested despite being an impostor.

He, however, maintained that his members will not rest until President Buhari is arrested in Japan so that a DNA will be conducted.

Kanu further said that President Buhari will not hide forever because he has launched manhunt for him.


Meanwhile, the Presidency had earlier released a statement concerning the whereabouts of President Buhari in Japan. The statement by Femi Adesina read:

Finally, IPOB Reveals True Destination Of Buhari, Vows To Arrest Him


The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari is missing in Japan where he is expected to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holding in the City of Yokohama, Igbere TV reports.



According to IPOB, President Buhari is in Oman instead.


Emma Powerful, the Publicity Secretary of the IPOB in a statement made available to Igbere TV on Tuesday claimed that pictures and videos of Buhari circulated by the media team of the president were Photoshop and doctored clips.

The Pro-Biafra group, however, assured its members across the globe of its resolve to ensure that they have initiated moves to push for the arrest of Buhari whenever he is sighted in Japan.

“I am ashamed that supposedly reputable media houses and a few other popular newspapers, knowingly or unknowingly allowed themselves to become conduit in the propagation of deliberate falsehood designed to deceive the public into believing that Jubri-Buhari is in Japan when clearly he was in Oman.


“This model of governance is now regular and extensive use of fake photo-shopped images and digitally altered videos is the reason why Nigeria can never move forward, becomes a developed nation or be regarded as a civilised country.

“No sane country can function on lies and expect to survive the consequential backlash from the righteous majority. What APC and Fulani cabal have done throughout their rule is to entrench the repugnant culture of Oluwale (the home of document forgery is Africa) into Aso Rock.

“They may have succeeded in deceiving their fellow Nigerians but they cannot deceive us Biafrans."

The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has lambasted Channels TV and other media houses for posting President Muhammadu Buhari’s pictures in Japan, Igbere TV reports.


In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Tuesday, Kanu said he is ashamed that supposedly reputable media houses like Channels TV and a few other popular newspapers, knowingly or unknowingly allowed themselves to become conduit in the propagation of deliberate falsehood designed to deceive the public into believing that Jubri-Buhari is in Japan when clearly he was in Oman.

Kanu said that APC Fulani regime of unconscionanbly corrupt men were indulged by INEC which made them get away with Buhari's WAEC Certificate forgery in 2015 and again in 2019.


The statement reads in full,



"I am ashamed that supposedly reputable media houses like Channels TV and a few other popular newspapers, knowingly or unknowingly allowed themselves to become conduit in the propagation of deliberate falsehood designed to deceive the public into believing that Jubri-Buhari is in Japan when clearly he was in Oman. Do they think their conterparts from other parts of the world are not watching and observing their complicity in the cover-up of the true identity of president of Nigeria? If Buhari is alive or in Japan as we are deceived to believe, why go through the hassle of doctoring pictures and videos, why not cover his arrival live on television."

"Channels Television and all newspapers that published this fake picture should do the honourable thing and take it down, the pictures are fake. It is clearly another case of forgery."

"IPOB is on the ground in Japan, the fraud Jubril Al-Sudani is still on the run and have so far refused to make any public appearance. We are assuring Biafrans all over the world that as soon as the impostor is sighted, he will be arrested and handed over to the Japanese authorities to be tried for the criminal he is."

Security: Remove, Investigate Enugu CP, Group Tells Buhari

As the call for the immediate removal of the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State gathers momentum, a concerned socio-political group, Enugu Peace and Development Mandate (EPDM), has lent their vioice to the campaign, stressing that it is of urgent importance in view of the current security situation in the state.

In a statement sent to Igbere TV and signed by the Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Ezekwume, the group said that before the removal of the immediate past Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Danmallam Mohammed, ahead of the last general elections, Enugu State was peaceful and ranked one of the most peaceful states in the country.



Mr. Ezekwume regretted that on assumption of office, the present Commissioner of Police, Mr. Suleiman Balarabe, dismantled security checkpoints in the state and went further to disband the effective Command Operation Unit of the Force headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police with proven track record in crime fighting and replaced the affected personnel with those who are ready to satisfy his financial demands.

“We have observed with dismay that since the coming of Balarabe as the Police Commissioner, the state has witnessed more security lapses in quick succession than ever before. This is a clear case of failure of operational intelligence on the part of police and other security agencies in the state.

It is very clear that Balarabe, who was an administrative officer before his posting to Enugu as Commissioner lacks the understanding of the rudimentary security operational modalities of the Force.

“We want our dear President Muhammadu Buhari to act urgently by redeploying the CP before it becomes too late. Enugu State is too strategic and very important to be used by any inexperienced security officer to learn work or experiment. We are convinced that further delay in removing Balarabe will further worsen the security situation in the state.

“We are aware of an allegation that the CP mandated all the Divisional Police Officers (DPO) to be making financial returns on monthly basis, a strange directive that has distracted majority of the policemen in the state from their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.

“With this weighty allegation, President Buhari should not only remove Balarabe, he should also direct for a properly investigation of his activities in Enugu State. Balarabe should equally be made to explain the reason behind the resurgence of insecurity in the state under his watch.

“As was recently alleged, we are calling on the leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in our state, who influenced the deployment of Mr. Balarabe to Enugu State ahead of the last elections to prevail on President Buhari to remove him in the overall interest of the people of Enugu STATE.”

The Presidency has debunked the alleged report by the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, that President Muhammadu Buhari is missing in Japan, Igbere TV reports.


Igbere TV reports that the Presidency said the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has “nothing to do with President Muhammadu Buhari since he arrived Yokohama, Japan, on Monday.”

Igbere TV reported that Buhari departed Nigeria yesterday for Japan to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holding in the City of Yokohama, August 28-30, 2019.

However, IPOB alleged that the President was not in Japan, stressing that photographs of Buhari were photoshopped.

Responding to the allegation, Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, urged Nigerians to disregard the claims by IPOB.

BREAKING!!! Security: Enugu Students Call For Immediate Removal Of CP; …Threaten Mass Protest

Following the recent security challenges in Enugu State, students in the state under the auspices of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have joined in the call for the immediate removal of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Suleiman Balarabe, for lack of capacity to secure the state.



In a statement sent to Igbere TV by the State Chairman of NANS, Comrade Darlington Ugwuegbe, the students stated that they were worried that Enugu State which is known for its peaceful and secure nature has of recent witnessed some strange and sudden security lapses since the deployment of Mr. Suleiman Balarabe as Commissioner of Police.

They stated that their investigations revealed that Mr. Balarabe has not served as commissioner of police before his deployment to Enugu State, stressing the sudden security lapses in the state could not be unconnected with his lack of experience in his present assignment.

The students, therefore, gave the federal government and Inspector-General of Police a two-week ultimatum to redeploy the commissioner of police or they will embark on a peaceful protest to drive home their demands.

According to them, “the CP does not have contemporary policing strategies. Enugu State has been adjudged the most peaceful state in Nigeria after the FCT and this was confirmed by the NPF, but all of a sudden everything seems to have changed. We demand for urgent and total overhaul of the security architecture in Enugu State, especially the police. We also demand for the deployment of more security personnel in Enugu State”.

The students added that their investigations further revealed that the CP’s deployment to Enugu State, prior to the last general election, was facilitated by chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, who were only interested in the removal of the immediate past CP, Mr. Danmallam Mohammed for political reasons.

“We, therefore, give the federal government and the IGP a two-week ultimatum to redeploy the CP out of Enugu State, after which we will not hesitate to stage a peaceful protest to drive home our demand, which is in the overall interest of the people of the state, especially the youth.

“While the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State went to Abuja to push for the removal of our former Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danmallam Mohammed, to enable them actualize their political ambition, they forgot to ask for an experienced and capable police officer to replace him. Today, they are seeing the consequences of their self-centered action and they have refused to call for his redeployment”, the students said.

The students maintained that the call for Balarabe’s removal was borne out of their concern for the safety of lives and property, pointing accusing fingers at some political elements in the state, who are hell bent on sabotaging the efforts of the state government in strengthening the security of the state.

Biafra : "I’ll Go Anywhere I want In The World" - Senator Abaribe

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has revealed that he would embark on foreign trips regardless of a threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra to publicly humiliate Nigerian leaders, who they claim have impoverished the country, Igbere TV reports.

Although IPOB excluded Abaribe from the South East leaders which they would attack, Abaribe said he will be travelling next week to Houston and Atlanta in the United States.

Abaribe said : “One of the hallmarks of constitutional democracy is the fundamental rights of people.

“These include rights to travel, rights to freedom of movement, and rights to freedom of association.

“Except we want to have an autocracy, so long it’s a democracy, then you have got to be a democrat. What a democrat does is that they respect the rights of others.

“For instance, I am travelling next week; I will be in Houston and also in Atlanta in the United States.

“I will go anywhere I want to go in the world, I don’t care. Senator Ekweremadu, despite the assault he suffered, has also said that people should be free to go to wherever they want. Because of that, I do not really see why anybody should be afraid to exercise their rights.

“It is only in Nigeria that people do things without getting appropriate sanctions.

“If you restrict the rights of another person in developed countries, I do not think that the enforcement agencies there will just let you walk around and do that."


Recall that former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was mercilessly beaten by IPOB members in Nuremberg, Germany for neglecting his duties in Nigeria, just to eat new yam in Germany.
