CelebritiesBanky W: I Bagged Myself Good Man Not Money Bag – Adesua Blasts Fan by Igboblog(op): 12:02pm On May 17, 2017
Actress, Adesua Etomi, has replied a fan who said she bagged herself a money bag husband.
The actress said she makes her own money, hence, Banky W’s money was not the reason she accepted the proposal.
A fan @Chika_thelma_uk had commented on her picture with Banky on her instagram handle @adesuaetomi.
The fan wrote: “Enjoy girl, you are a lucky lady, bagged yourself a money bag hubby. #Mrswellington.
Responding, however, Adesua replied the fan saying she’s engaged to Banky W not because he is rich but because he is a good man.
According to her, she is not lucky but blessed because a good man like her husband to be is hard to find.
“I make my own money.
“I bagged myself a ‘GOOD MAN’.

Politics30th May Biafra Heroes’ Day: No Threat To Security – Police by Igboblog(op): 11:33am On May 17, 2017
AS the 30th May, 2017 Biafra Day remembrance draws near, the Indigenous
People of Biafra (IPOB) has urged its members, including those in the Diaspora, to use the day to show the world that they still cherished the efforts of their heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice for Biafrans to live.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Police Commissioner, Mr. Leye Oyebade, yesterday said that the command is monitoring the activities of members of IPOB and MASSOB, adding that for now, there is no threat to security.
W
Leye also said that the command was monitoring the threat given by a faction of the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, which allegedly threatened to burn down the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, over alleged long-standing dispute between the factional leader and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francis Otunta, with a view to ensuring that nothing awful happens there.
The Police Commissioner, who spoke Monday, while parading 28 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including armed robbery, car snatching, burglary, defilement and cultism, explained that the command has “rejuvenated the security machinery of Aba and increased the personnel to ensure that Aba is secured for business.
“We still need more logistics from the state government and more information from the people. People are trying in providing information; we are being proactive. We have been raiding criminal hideouts, flashpoints and the outcome has been positive.
“What we have done in Aba, we are going to sustain it. We still have criminals there but we are going to push all of them out. We want to make Aba safe for business”, the Police commissioner said.
Meanwhile, Oyebade has been recognized by an international organization, African Emerging Leadership Research and Development Organisation, AELDO, for “his distinguished service to humanity, uprightness in maintaining law and order, commitment and dedication to duty”.

PoliticsBiafra: Why Igbo People Can Be Identified As Proper Fools – APGA Chieftain by Igboblog(op): 8:03am On May 17, 2017
A member, Board of Trustee, BoT, of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has noted that Igbo people are truly the cause of their predicaments in Nigeria.
Chief Ezeonwuka was reacting to the sit-at-home announced by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
He stated that the problem with Ndigbo was that Biafrans themselves had not helped themselves.
He noted, “If you call yourself an Igboman or a Biafran, you must have heard that only 20 pounds was released to every Igbo man shortly after the civil war, and their properties were forcefully taken away from them in some parts of the country in the name of abandoned properties, yet they managed to survive.
“However, it is quite unfortunate that the same Ndigbo who suffered these deprivations have not learnt our lessons from it, to the extent that after surviving the post-civil war trauma, they still went ahead to invest all their monies outside Igboland where their monies and properties could be abandoned for the second time in the event of another outbreak of war or possible break-up of the country.
“I presume that Ndigbo cannot be identified as fools with their first mistakes but with this second mistakes of continuing to invest massively in other parts of the country, as they are doing now in their numbers, they can be identified as proper fools and as such, the step could be likened to an Igbo adage which states that first fool is not fool but second fool is proper foolishness.”

PoliticsAPC Rejects Senator Theodore Orji, Former Abia Governor by Igboblog(op): 8:40am On Apr 28, 2017
Former Abia State House of Assembly Speaker and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Stanley Ohajiriuka, has warned former governor, Chief Theodore Amaefula Orji against joining the ruling party.

He called on the former governor, who is the senator representing Abia North Central District, against defecting to the APC.

Speaking with newsmen after Abia State APC caucus meeting in Umuahia, Ohajiriuka stated that Senator Orji’s governance style while serving as Abia State governor was largely due to his leverage on the former president, Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience and any that attempt to join the ruling party would amount to betrayal.

According to him, “It will be heartbreaking to the former President and his wife to see Orji abandon a party that stood in for him when he was unleashing terror on Abians and owing salaries of civil servants.

“While more politicians from this state are expected in no distant time to formally join the APC, we are against people like Senator T. A Orji abandoning his party to also join the moving train.

“We are not ignorant of the role former president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Mrs Patience Jonathan played in his governance. It will therefore, be costly and demeaning of him to even nurse such intention.

“If he still has conscience, he should remain in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. A party that his likes used to show Abia an example of what a leader should not be.”

Speaking on the plans of Abia APC in the next general election, he said, “Abia State has suffered so much in the hands of those who can’t get a handful of votes without manipulating the results.

“This time around, such things will no longer be seen nor heard among us. We are reinforcing and if you look at the calibre of people that attended today’s caucus meeting. You will agree with me that the PDP will soon be sent packing .”

PoliticsEFCC Vs Kalu : Court Directs EFCC To Serve All Documents For Case Against Kalu by Igboblog(op): 12:09am On Apr 13, 2017
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to ensure proper service of all documents it intend to use in the prosecution of its case against a former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, and two other defendants.
The directive of the trial judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, was sequel to the objections raised, yesterday, by the defendants’ lawyers to the admissibility of a document sought to be tendered by the EFCC’s lawyer, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, as exhibit.
Jacobs had in the course of examining the third prosecution witness, Tunde David, tendered the statements of account of Abia State Government House and urged the court to admit same as exhibits.
This move was objected to by the defence lawyers on the ground that the document was different from what was front-loaded by the prosecution in the proof of evidence.
In his submissions, Kalu’s lawyer, Goddy Uche, SAN, said it was wrong for the prosecution to seek to tender a document that was never made available to the defence.
He urged the court to adjourn the matter to allow the defence study the documents after they might have been properly served on it by the prosecution.
In his ruling, Justice Idris held that having not been earlier front-loaded, the document was not yet admissible.
Further hearing in the matter continues today.

PoliticsBiafra: You Are A Boy For Calling Nigeria A Zoo – Buhari’s Aide Attacks Kanu by Igboblog(op): 6:15pm On Apr 12, 2017
The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu has described the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu as a boy who went on radio to cause “disaffection by calling Nigeria a zoo.”
The Enugu-born politician made the remark while speaking with New Telegraph.
Okechukwu, who is a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, however, noted that he would like to see the IPOB leader released.
According to him, ”This is a boy, who is living in United Kingdom and has little or nothing do to with us here.
“If he is being tried, has the Supreme Court said he should be released? To me, the Igbos are highly accepted in this country. Forget about the civil war because most countries also passed through the same road, even the United States.
”So, we must we must forget about the past and move ahead. If you look at it democratically, the Igbos have never at a time said they want to leave Nigeria.
”Between 1995 and 1996, the Igbos set up a secretariat for the Constitutional Conference organized by the General Sani Abacha regime.”
Kanu, who doubles as the Director of Radio Biafra is currently facing trial before Justice Binta Nyako on crime charges.
The IPOB leader has been in custody since he was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, in 2015 despite several court rulings ordering his release.

PoliticsIshaya Bamaiyi: "Nothing Like Abacha Loot, It Is A Media Creation" by Igboblog(op): 10:07pm On Mar 30, 2017
Former Chief of Army Staff, General Ishaya Bamaiyi, yesterday, said that Late Gen. Sani Abacha, was not the corrupt leader he was said to be and that the concept of “Abacha Loot” was a media creation.

He made excuses for Nigerian funds stashed in foreign countries by the Gen. Abacha government, saying that it was because of the challenges the nation had with Western countries, at the time.
He spoke during a public presentation of his book, “Vindication of Abacha” which represents a spirited attempt to present Late Gen. Abacha in good light, in Abuja.

Gen. Bamayi noted that President Mohammadu Buhari was part of the Abacha government which was why foreign governments were reluctant to listen to him on the request to return funds stashed abroad by the Abacha regime.

He said, “If you remember, we had problem in Sierra ‎Leone and Liberia under Abacha government and it was money realised under Abacha regime that we used to buy weapons and ammunition to help them fight. I am happy the former minister of finance said the money was not looted but things happen and when things happen like that and you are not here to defend yourself rumours will just be flying.

“I am not holding brief for Abacha but I would not be in a position to know if money was looted. What I know is that things do happen and I know that Abacha did very well for the country. If we see him from the bad aspect, we should also look at his good aspect and remember him for the good things he did for the country. That is why I said Abacha loot is a media creation”.

Also speaking, former Head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, who was Chairman of the occasion, urged the federal government to make public, the status of the Abacha loot by telling Nigerians how much has been recovered, how much left.

He said that the several coups and counter coups after his administration were for reasons other than the unity of the nation.

PoliticsBiafra: ‘buhari Making Nnamdi Kanu A Hero Out Of Nothing’ -okorocha by Igboblog(op): 4:37pm On Mar 26, 2017
Rochas Okorocha, the governor of Imo State, has called for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
He made the call in an exclusive interview with Sunday Sun. However, the governor was dismissive about Kanu’s advocacy and importance saying that the continued detention of the Biafra secessionist activist was “making a hero out of nothing”.
The Imo governor also spoke on his reservations about the Biafra struggle and more or less said that current advocacy groups were ineffective.
“On the issue of Kanu and IPOB, I have a different opinion altogether and I think it has been over- dramatised and over pursued, we will just find out that it has not given us any key result,” the governor told the newspaper.
“See, approach is key in life and how you look at things. I think what we must do as Igbo is to let the federal government see the reasons to release Kanu because keeping Kanu there is making him a hero out of nothing.”
“He should be released. Since he made inciting statements, he has not killed, he is not found guilty, he should be released. And even what he did is not just an order or threat to government; all that he is charged with, is he guilty of it? Has he done anything wrong?
“So, we must let the government understand that Kanu is not worth the trouble being attached to him. It is something that we the leaders can go to the president and say, give us this boy, we will guarantee his good behaviour. Bring him out.
“But the approach is key. I think very soon now I will ensure that a meeting of Igbo leaders is convened. This is whereleadership is called for. We will go and meet President Buhari and we will kindly request for his release and that he has learnt enough lesson in the prison.”
Governor Okorocha also chastised Nnamdi Kanu for his heated rhetoric and complained that Kanu insulted everybody including Igbo leaders and said that such behaviour is “youthful exuberance”.
“Because he didn’t even spare anybody; we have to let him know he wasn’t only talking about the Federal Government and Biafra. He was castigating and insulting all the Igbo leaders,” the governor continued.
“When such a person who even castigated his own is in prison, why should it be a big deal? Why don’t we look at it differently and see it as youthful exuberance rather than putting him there and he is creating a bit of tension and what should not worth it.”
He also revealed that he had been meditating with the key officials in the federal government to secure Nnamdi Kanu’s release from prison. However, he cautioned again the use of language by IPOB saying that they were not the only ethnic group seeking separation from Nigeria.
“And Nigerians love creating ethnic colourations and making things big. I have discussed with some key federal government authorities that they need to remove him from the prison and stop this case so that everybody will be free and IPOB will be free,” Okorocha said.
“But I must also have said that IPOB in their agitation, there is nothing wrong with the agitation, but the language of the agitation is different.
“You see, when you are talking about sovereignty, that doesn’t sound well with any sovereign nation. But they are doing the same thing that the Egbesus are doing, the Oduduwas are doing, the Niger Delta people are doing, but the language is different.
“I mean there is nothing wrong if you make all the noise in the world for people to recognize you, it is part of democracy.
“But when you say you want to be sovereign, you want to be on your own, that’s when it becomes an issue. It creates unnecessary hatred for Ndigbo. Yet you want to be free and the Igbo are talking about Igbo presidency, how does the two work? So, these are some of the things we”

PoliticsBiafra: Someone Should Tell Nnamdi Kanu Nigeria Is Not A Zoo -von Dg, Osita. by Igboblog(op): 7:11am On Mar 26, 2017
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been urged to stop calling Nigeria a zoo, where animals and baboons are living.

The pleading came on a heel following Kanu’s alleged hate speech on Radio Biafra London, which led to his arrest in Nigeria on October 2015 while coming in from United Kingdom where he based.

Kanu has been arraigned on different court charges and has been granted bail by the Abuja high court under rulings of Justice Adeniyi Ademola, but was later arrested and detained by the order of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Following his detention since October 2015, there has been an uneasy calm in the southeast geopolitical zone of the country as main region agitating for a Biafra Nation. Various efforts have been made to ensure Kanu’s release, but it seems President Buhari is not ready to let him go.

While canvassing for Kanu’s release, The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu has called on anyone who have access to Nnamdi Kanu to please, tell him to stop calling Nigeria a zoo.

Mr Okechukwu, while speaking with newsmen after attending a popular radio programme, Freedom Square Enugu state, he revealed that he has been pleading with President Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu and other pro-Biafrans held in detention.

According to him; “Mr President is just back. We will continue to plead on his (Kanu) behalf because we told Mr President that, this is a young man from England. That, actually we don’t know his stand in Nigeria. Give him pardon.

“Mr President asked me, Osita, have you talked with him (Nnamdi Kanu)?”

Continuing, he said; “I will find time to talk with him. But anybody that has access to talk with him should tell him that Nigeria is not a zoo where you want to bring Igbo out”.
