SANITY was thrown to the wind, yesterday, when some soldiers and policemen from Mokola Police Station clashed. Though, no one was killed, the incident landed men from both sides in hospitals. Vanguard gathered that the problem started, Wednesday night, when a police woman in mufti raised alarm that she was being attacked by two men on a motorcycle. This made the policemen on duty to come to her aid. While trying to protect their colleague, one of the policemen allegedly shot one of the two men on the motorcycle on the ankle. Unknown to them, the two men were soldiers, who later reinforced and allegedly stabbed a policeman on the buttock. But, yesterday, there was sporadic gunshots at Mokola area which made passers-by and traders in the area ran for dear lives. An eye witness said: “The incident started when 10 soldiers stormed the station and beat policemen on duty in retaliation of an attack one of them on Wednesday night by the police carrying out ‘stop and search’ in front of the station.” It was further gathered that the police on the ‘stop and search’ Wednesday night, stopped the soldiers for routine check and this led to altercations. Speaking with Vanguard on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olabisi Ilobanafor, said the matter had been resolved the family way and situation brought under control. “The issue actually started on Wednesday night when two men on a motorcycle had disagreement with a police woman who was in mufti. The woman called the attention of the policemen on duty to come to her rescue. They fired warning shots into the air. One of the two men who were later discovered to be military men was injured. Later, his colleagues arrived with cudgels and stabbed a policeman on the buttock. Another soldier wanted to stab him again but was resisted”. “About 3pm yesterday, some military men stormed the station beating and injuring policemen on duty. Warning shots were fired. We reinforced from the command to make sure the matter did not get out of hand. We thank God that nobody died in the process. The injured ones both policemen and soldiers were later taken to hospital. “Authorities of both the police and Army came together and resolved the matter as a family. This is one of isolated cases we had. We are the same family. We should work together to fight criminals not to fight ourselves”.

Pandemonium broke out, yesterday, on Daleko bridge, in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State, after a foreigner was allegedly shot dead by a yet to be identified policeman in uniform. There were, however, different accounts as to how the deceased, identified as Santos Korie, was killed. A version said the foreigner was driving in a Toyota Highlander vehicle at about 7a.m, when he was allegedly intercepted by some policemen, who were in a commercial bus, on the bridge. An argument reportedly ensued as the policemen were said to have demanded Santo’s documents, with a view to ascertaining whether he was an illegal alien. Then all of a sudden, there was a gun shot from one of the policemen, which killed the foreigner. Another account had it that the men in police uniform could have trailed the foreigner to the bridge, as they reportedly opened fire on him at close range on getting to the bridge. The gun shot was said to have jeopardize motorists and traders’ movement, as they reportedly fled in different directions for safety. A truck pusher who simply identified himself as Eugene, told Vanguard that men in police uniform usually patrolled the area, extorting money from gullible motorists. Eugene who claimed to be returning from where he had offloaded some bags of rice around Isolo, said the policemen zoomed off immediately they fired the shot. He disclosed that one of them attempted to take something from the foreigner’svehicle but was ordered otherwise by his colleagues. Eugene said: “Even after they left, the man inside the car was still breathing. If he had been rushed to the hospital at that time, perhaps, he would have survived. Nobody could even go near him anyway, until some policemen came and took him and the car away. “This is not the first time policemen are seen operating in commercial buses in Lagos. Most times, they come to raid. At other times, they stop vehicles and even okadas. Nobody knows what happened that led to the killing of the man.” Police react While most eye witnesses claimed the killers were policemen on illegal duty, the Lagos State Police Command, in a swift reaction, debunked the claim, saying the killers could be gunmen who usually operated in police uniform. The command in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, noted: “In recent times, gunmen operating in military and police uniforms have been involved in one violent crime or the other and the Lagos State Command is not leaving any stone unturned in dealing decisively with any fake uniformed officer.” It was not immediately ascertained whether the gunmen were hired killers in police uniform or real Police Officers. Meantime, some arrests have been made and the suspects are currently being detained at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for interrogation. “Following this ugly incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Umar Manko has ordered that the gunmen must be fished out with a view to knowing their identities, particularly as they were alleged to have operated in Police uniforms.” “The Commissioner of Police hereby appeals to members of the public and especially the victim family to remain calm and embrace peace as the perpetrators of this dastardly act must be brought to book”, Braide said. This was curled from a friend's facebook page and i feel he's right to an extent. I think the only way the Nigerian Govt Listens is Violence. But though i don't support violence cos it could lead to loss of lives, is he right on this one or as tupac said in one of his songs "Niggas are scared of revolution". Nigerian Youths wake up, We have no other country except Nigeria, We have been suffering in silence while our Leaders put our future in their bank accounts. How can we remain like this? How can a youth go to school and suffered to graduate at the end no job. You are almost 40 and still your future is as bleak as a dark room. Did your parents send you to school to sit at home because our Government have failed us. Let us come out one day and say No. We must not remain like this, we cannot all travel abroad to find a better life, our better life is here in our country. We have the money, oil and resources but only a selected few have continue to suck it dry why we keep believing God for a change, wake up now I challenge you. We need 500,000 youths in each of the 36 states to come out and challenge their Government. We say NO, we will destroy this country and rebuild it afresh, we will Kill those who stand on our way as they are considered the enemy. A man cannot have billions of dollars while millions of youths roam the streets every day looking for daily bread. Our young men must not all be kidnappers and fraudsters, our young girls must not all be prostitutes. Get Ready I tell you. The time has come for us to react, the only way our Government listens is violence, they have shown it to the Niger delta militants and to boko haram..where as a simple gesture of N20,000 per month to the unemployed is rejected and you pay militants N75,000 and N100,000per month to boko haram and N19,800 to NYSC and hw much do they pay as minimum wage? How much do they pay to elected officers, we are going to revolt. Nigeria will burn to be rebuilt again like Libya, Iraqan Egypt and Turnisia...please spread this message unless you want to die in poverty in a country where God has destined all of us to be happy and prosperous...!!! |
The Traditional Ruler is suffering from brain gay for uttering such statement. What rubbish talk trying to score cheap shots. |
Hello guys, am not sure where to post this thread, but i hope the MODs would help move it to the right section. Am a die hard wwe fan. Though its a form of entertaiment, but can't help with the beating, the smackdowns and the pin falls. keeps me entertained. Every year, there's a the big event of the WWE Event called Wrestlemania and yesterday Sunday, April 7th was a day i've always looked forward to in 2013. It was a battleground for those fighters/wrestlers. Below are the results of WrestleMania 29. The Shield defeats Sheamus, Randy Orton and Big Show The match started off with The Shield displaying plenty of offense and playing up their pack-of-dogs mentality. When they had Sheamus set for the triple power bomb, Big Show, who had previously been taken out of the match by a lengthy beating, rocked Dean Ambrose with a spear for the save. Moments later, Sheamus crawled for a tag from Big Show, but Orton stole it and entered the ring instead. He appeared set for the win after he impressively hit Seth Rollins with a mid-air RKO off the top rope, but Roman Reigns quickly appeared to land a ring-rattling spear. Ambrose, the legal man, then got the pin on Orton. Afterwards, Show wasn't exactly enthused, and he delivered a KO punch to both Sheamus and Orton. Heel turn count: Zero. Mark Henry defeats Ryback After Henry controlled a majority of the match, Ryback quickly turned things around when he hit the Meathook Clothesline. While he answered one of the match's biggest questions by showing he could lift up Henry for the Shell Shocked, The World's Strongest Man grabbed the rope and fell on Ryback. He then rolled over the "knocked-out" Ryback for the three count. As the referees tended to Ryback, Henry came back for more, which turned out to be a huge mistake. Ryback suddenly woke up, hit Henry with a spinebuster and landed a big Shell Shocked to bring the interesting battle to an end. Tag Team Championship: Team Hell No (c) defeats Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston Although this battle was fairly short (just over seven minutes, shorter than Ryback vs. Henry), it featured a lot of really impressive spots from each wrestler, most notably Langston and Daniel Bryan, who got a little bit of WrestleMania redemption. In the end, A.J. Lee distracted the referee so Ziggler could attack Kane with his briefcase, but he missed and was met with a gargantuan chokeslam instead. Bryan then tagged in and connected with the headbutt from the top rope for the win. Another match, another loss for Ziggler. Afterwards, Bryan got his moment with a huge "yes" chant from the crowd (via Michelle Beadle): Fandango defeats Chris Jericho There were some fine moments in this match—Fandango's big leg drop off the top rope, Jericho being classic Jericho—but this will be remembered for the sloppy finish. After Fandango missed an attempt for a second leg drop, Jericho went for the Lionsault, but overshot it (although it didn't look like his fault). He then went for the Walls of Jericho, but sold a knee injury and Fandango was able to roll up the former World champ for the win. Overall, it spoiled what was looking like a thrilling match, but Fandango got the push many were expecting. World Heavyweight Championship: Alberto Del Rio (c) defeats Jack Swagger This certainly wasn't the most up-tempo match you'll ever see, but it's difficult to deny the talented wrestling that took place inside the ring. Del Rio and Swagger both showcased power, athleticism and a slew of good ol' fashioned, technically strong moves. Unfortunately, most will instead remember the disappointing end. Del Rio retained when he forced Swagger to tap out from the cross armbreaker, and once again, Ziggler disappointingly didn't cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. The Undertaker defeats CM Punk Hey, Undertaker and Punk, thanks for saving WrestleMania. Undertaker controlled the action for the first few minutes, but Punk turned things with a deep arm drag when 'Taker went for the Old School from the ropes. Moments later, Punk continued his psychological games by landing 'Taker's classic move From there, it was scintillating back-and-forth action. Punk earned several nearfalls. 'Taker hit the chokeslam, but Punk kicked out. Things moved outside, where 'Taker was placed on the Spanish announcers' table. Punk went with the flying elbow from the top rope and landed it, but the table didn't break (which probably hurt each wrestler even more). Back inside the ring, Undertaker hit Punk with the Tombstone, but once again, he amazingly kicked out. After the ref was knocked out, Punk drilled 'Taker with the urn and appeared set to end the streak (with the classic hands-folded-on-the-heart pin), but once again, he kicked out after two-and-a-half counts. Finally, Undertaker reversed a GTS right into another Tombstone and got the clean pin. 21-0. There aren't many words that do this match justice. It was easily Match of the Year worthy. While Undertaker technically left as the winner, each wrestler deserves endless amounts of credit in what was a truly incredible 22 minutes of greatness. Triple H defeats Brock Lesnar It's basically impossible to follow up what Undertaker and Punk did, but Triple H and Lesnar did a damn good job. For a majority of the match, Lesnar put a beating on Helmsley, sending him through the Spanish announcers' table, hitting him with a slew of chair shots, punishing him with the steel steps and putting him in the Kimura Lock. Lesnar even drilled Shawn Michaels with the F5 when the Heartbreak Kid tried to interfere. But Triple H worked his way back into it. After Michaels delivered Sweet Chin Music to Paul Heyman, Helmsley got Lesnar into a Kimura Lock of his own. Lesnar countered with several slams onto the steel stairs, but The Game continued to lock in the hold. Eventually, he set up Lesnar and dropped him with the Pedigree onto the steel for the pin. Essentially, it was 24 minutes of two men putting their bodies on the line, and it was incredibly entertaining to watch. WWE Championship: John Cena defeats The Rock After so many finishers, reversals from finishers and nearfalls that I lost count, John Cena is your new World Champion. The Brahma Bull hit Cena with several Rock Bottoms and a People's Elbow, but the new champion was able to kick out every time, and after each wrestler exchanged blows for quite some time, Cena eventually grabbed the win after landing the AA. Afterwards, the two men hugged it out and had a handshake. After Rock was given several moments in front of the crowd by himself, they stood at the top of the ramp together, hands held high. No heel turn; just a new champion and two friends, apparently.

Hey Guys, for the past 4 - 5days now, the network issues with airtel lines has been horrible. I don't know if am the only one experiencing this. Its either your credit gets deducted without you making calls or you make a call to someone without hearing the person at the other end or the person not hearing you at his/her end or you get charged while the phone is still ringing or network just dissappears from your phone for no reasons. All these has been happening lately on my phone or should i say my Airtel network line. I need to know if am the only one experiencing this or its a general thing. Its killing me and my credit is being deducted. This same people are the ones calling their customers unnecessary or sending unending text messages for one useless and senseless advert. |

New Delhi – A 21-year-old woman was abducted and gang-raped in a car in India’s northern city of Amritsar, police said on Tuesday. The attackers played loud music on the car stereo as they drove around the city for an hour late on Monday, allegedly taking turns to rape the young woman, police officer Harjit Singh Brar said. “The victim was returning home from work last night when two men forced her into the car near a bus stop,’’ he said. “Two more men got into the car later, and after raping her, the men threw her out of the car.’’ The victim was admitted to a hospital where she was said to be in a stable condition. Charges have been filed with the police for abduction and gang rape. Brar said police have identified two of the attackers and hoped to make arrests soon. A fatal gang rape in December of a student on a moving bus in New Delhi sparked international outrage and nationwide protests. Reported attacks by rapists have increased in Indian cities this year, in spite of a tightening of the punishments for sexual assault.
