Deuteronomy 7:14, Psalm 127:3...I speak forth the word of GOd to all expecting mothers and fathers out there. God did not create you barren, I say today in the name of God almighty, the creator of heaven and earth, the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega, the God of Isaac, Moses, Abraham and Jacob, the maker of mankind, the ancient of days, the giver of life, the one who sits above and makes earth its foot stool, the all knowing and all seeing God....From now on, you shall bear fruits, by this time next year, you shall hear the cries and joys of babies in your home, God shall visit you In Jesus Name. I know what it feels like without children, but i want to admonish you today, Do not give up hope. So long there's a God, be rest assured that you have conceived In Jesus Name. Your set time is here. Believe, keep your faith strong and watch God give you your heart desires. Amen! |
Fresh facts emerged, Monday, on the presence of more illegal aliens suspected to be terrorists in Ijora area of Lagos, as information at Vanguard’s disposal revealed that the suspects, who are Malians and Chadians, were occupying a three-storey building owned by a state government. Last Thursday’s raid by the Department of State Security, DSS, and men of OP Messa, led to the arrest of two suspected terrorists and recovery of arms and explosives in a building on Aromire Street, Ijora. However, investigations revealed that the three story-building alleged to be used by the suspected terrorists is also located on Aromire Street, Ijora, close to the house that was raided last week. Monarch raises alarm Lagos monarch, Oba Fatai Oyeyinka Aremu, who spoke when traditional heads of major northern tribes resident in Lagos, led by the Seriki Hausa of Lagos State, Alhaji Sani Kadiri Garuba, visited him in his palace, said it would have been a case of the worse casualties in the history of bombings in the country. He blamed the government that owns the building for the development. The monarch said: “You see, this problem comes from the state government that owns that property. If you go to the house in Ijora, you will see all these Malians there. “They are squatters and we have written to the state government concerned several times without any response. Ask the Area Commander and the DPO, they will tell you. On our part, we are trying our best.” Without mincing word, the monarch urged the Seriki Hausa of Lagos to call his people, particularly those in Ijora to order, saying “I am not happy with what happened because your people have been living with us here since. I have been here since 1994 and this kind of thing had never happened. “We have been taking your people as brothers and sisters. You don’t have to turn back and do this kind of thing to us. Do something because I am not happy at all. Since that day (last Thursday), I have not been sleeping. Please, let this stop. I am giving them warning. Ijora is a no-go area for them. “If they still remain in Ijora, I will flush them out, Insha Allah. They should not use Ijora as a base. Ijora is not a base for criminals. I do not tolerate nonsense. Please, I am giving them warning again, they should leave my domain. My domain is not meant for criminals. I am talking to you (Seriki). “Please, call your men to order. Lagos is a no go area for bombings. These people referred to as Malians, Nigeriens live with your people. Please, talk to your Serikis.” Seriki Arewa speaks Earlier, the Seriki Hausa and Chairman, council of Arewa chiefs in Lagos, explained that the purpose of the visit was to commiserate with Oba Oyeyinka on what he described as a sad incident, and to pledge the solidarity of northerners under the Arewa councils of chiefs as peace-loving people. He said: “We will also like to seize this opportunity to emphasise that for intensive security in our nation, we appeal to the Federal Government to do more. Although it is trying its best to check the menace, we urge them to intensify and broaden their security scope, so that this kind of thing will never happen again. “Lagos is a mini Nigeria and anything that happened to Lagos will affect the whole nation. Finally, I will like to also appeal to other agencies and nationalities with the state to be calm and patient as we continue to live in harmony with each other.” 93 suspects handed over to Immigration Meantime, a total of 93 illegal aliens were, yesterday, handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service, Alagbon, Ikoyi, for onward prosecution. The aliens, whose mission in the country could not be ascertained, were mainly Malians, Nigeriens and Chadians. Their arrest followed a raid by joint security operatives following the discovery of a suspected terrorists’ hideout in Ijora area of Lagos, last Thursday. Confirming the arrest, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr. Muyiwa Odunubi, said the suspects would be paraded tomorrow by the Command. He said: “I can confirm to you that we received 93 suspected Boko Haram members, who were handed over to us by the Police and other security agencies.” Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/another-suspected-terrorists-hide-out-discovered-in-lagos/ |
Uyo – Hundreds of widows in Akwa Ibom on Monday trooped to the Government House, Uyo, urging Gov. Godswill Akpabio to empower them financially to enable them establish small-scale businesses. The widows, who came in buses from the 31 Local Government Areas in the state, could however, not see the governor. This was because the governor had reportedly travelled out of the state for official engagements. Speaking to journalists, the President of the Akwa Ibom Widows Association, Mrs Sylvia Effiong, said that they decided to bring their case to the governor as they were dying in pains and hunger without anybody to assist them. Effiong said that they had been watching through the television how the governor had been empowering other less-privileged people and they wanted to benefit from such gesture. According to her, “all we need is financial assistance to enable us establish small-scale businesses and feed our children. “Our children are in schools and we don’t have anybody helping us in paying their fees. Those mediating for us to see the governor are not sincere,” she stated. The association president said that a lot of groups were being empowered in the state but that the widows had not been captured to benefit from the gesture. “We are widows from all the 31 Local Government Areas in the state. I don’t know if it is because we are minority,” she said. Effiong insisted that the widows would continue to pay visits to the governor until he attended to them. “We are not relying on anybody to mediate between us and the governor because we know that sincerity will be a problem.” (NAN) Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/widows-besiege-governors-office-in-uyo-demand-welfare-package/ They want their own share of the governor's gestures he doles out lately. |

Former Zambian president, Mr. Rupiah Banda, was Monday arrested by the country’s law enforcement agents over allegations of corruption and abuse of office, following a crude oil import deal with Nigeria. Banda was also alleged to have misappropriated about $11 million during his three-year reign as President of the country. The country’s authorities are accusing him of procuring oil which did not benefit the country. He was said to have imported crude oil from Nigeria, without actual deliveries, despite the fact that the funds were deposited into the bank account of his son. Banda, who was released from police custody and is due to appear in court on Tuesday, however, said the moves against him are politically motivated. He was questioned for close to three hours after his arrest related to the oil deal Monday before he was released on bail. Banda denies the charges, and his lawyers claim the arrest is an attempt by current President Michael Sata to silence him. After his release, Banda appeared before his supporters and told them to remain calm, reassuring them he would win his case in court. Earlier this month, parliament lifted Banda’s presidential immunity, clearing the way for him to be prosecuted for several corruption and abuse of office charges. Banda lost to President Michael Sata in 2011 elections. The new government has been pursuing the corruption investigations against the former leader and his political allies. Banda, born 13 February 1937, was President of Zambia from 2008 to 2011. During the Presidency of Kenneth Kaunda, Banda held important diplomatic posts and was active in politics as a member of the United National Independence Party (UNIP). Years later, he was appointed as Vice-President by President Levy Mwanawasa in October 2006, following the latter’s re-election. He took over Mwanawasa’s presidential responsibilities after Mwanawasa suffered a stroke in June 2008, and following Mwanawasa’s death in August 2008, he became acting President. As the candidate of the governing Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), he narrowly won the October 2008 presidential election, according to official results. Opposition leader Michael Sata defeated Banda in the September 2011 presidential election, and Sata accordingly succeeded Banda as President on 23 September 2011. People seem to spend more time cleaning the outside of their car than the inside. Perhaps the fact that other people are more likely to see the outside comes into play. Car dashboard parts can be damaged due to changes in air temperature in the car quite drastically on a daily basis. That is because the hot rays of the sun and AC car. Appropriate steps to clean the car dashboard are as follows: 1) Clean the car dashboard using a vacuum cleaner to suck dust. Keep the tip of a vacuum cleaner having a feathered edge, so as not to scratch the car dashboard. 2) Clean the sidelines of a car dashboard, such as between the lattice air conditioner, radio tape, and others with the brush or a fluffy brush. Avoid using a toothbrush, because it can scratch and cause abrasion. To local AC grid, use the mini brush (for painting), toothbrushes, micro fiber cloth, cotton bud, and liquid multipurpose cleaner (MPC), which is usually referred to as deagreser, which contain acid. Brush and brush work to remove the germs that stick to the grill. To dust, use a mini brush without using cleaning fluid. To use deagreser fluid, there are rules of use, which is mixed with water in 1:8 ratio for light impurities, and the ratio of 1:4 for the dirt that has been severe. Fluids should not be sprayed directly into the lattice, because the stools will actually go into the hole AC. We recommend using a cotton bud which was sprayed with a liquid MPC. 3) Use a special cleaning fluid dashboard that water based or contain UV protection, so that the car dashboard increasingly resistant to sunlight. 4) Spray cleaning fluid is to burnish the surface of the dashboard. Then wipe with microfiber. 5) Avoid liquids that contain silicone because it can stick on the dashboard of a car when conditions dry out. Also will make the driver dazzled by sun reflecting silicon. In addition to the dashboard so that the surface looks less attractive because oily. 6) Avoid using polish the tires on a car dashboard. Because it can make the surface becomes cracked. 7) Avoid using soap dab or detergent to clean car dashboard, because it can make a dull surface of the dashboard. Use soap dab or detergent that too often even able to make the color of car dashboard become faded Other suggestive ways of cleaning the car dashboards and also other suggestive methods of clearning the interiors of the cars are welcome.

…As Hope rises for sickle cell patients Dr. Godwin Bazuaye is a consultant dermatologist and specialist in bone marrow transplants. He graduated from the University of Benin and trained in the same school. He later went to Swizerland for sub-specialization in bone marrow transplantation. Currently, he is head of Human Dermatology and Co-ordinator of Stem Cell Transplant Unit at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH. During the recent visit by the National Good Governance Tour team to the Hospital, he told Vanguard Hi-Tech in an exclusive interview, how the hospital successfully completed two stem cell transplants and how Nigerian can benefit from the technology locally, rather than going abroad to change their genotype, especially sickle cell patients. Excerpts: What is stem cell Transplant? It is a new model way of treating patients, where we have to transfer stem cells. These are cells that have the ability to produce new cells from a donor that is normal to a patient who has one illness or the other, after we have destroyed bone marrows, so that the new cells from the donor will produce new cells in the patient, which is almost like that of the donor. So, if you have a patient, whose genotype is SS, we will transplant cells that are AA from a normal person; the cells in the person will start producing AA. How does it work? You have to enable the body accept new cells to be transplanted. In this unit, you can change the genotype of a child or an individual from sickle cell to AA. You bring a primitive cell from a donor to a recipient. Before this time, you would have reduced the immunity in the patient to the barest minimum so that he can accept what you are giving to him, called stem cell. It can also be used for cancer patients. Major beneficiaries are sickle cell patients. Once it is done, they are no longer sicklers. Are there risks involved? We don’t collect blood from the veins; we have to use a needle on the bone marrow to bring out blood. Usually, the risk is very minimal. To the donor, there is no risk in the procedure, except the risk that has to do with going to the theatre. Apparently, the last one we did was a 14 year-old boy. By the third day, he had gone home and he resumed school the next day. For the patient, the risk is very low, as it has to do with the hard drugs, which the body could react to. For the patient, they are placed on very high drugs in the course of destroying the bone marrow. It could lead to side effects reaction. How successful was your last procedure? It was okay, the patient is a year and two months. His genotype was AA and has not had any crisis since then and so, I will say that it was quite successful. At what age can one qualify for this transplant.? The therapy is used for both the sickle cell and blood cancer patients; in fact, anything that has to do with taking a cell from a donor to cure the patient. Really, for sickle cell patients, it is preferable when they are 15 years and below because when they are older, they tend to need a lot of blood transfusion, their organs may get damaged. Although, there is a new method we use for adult sickle cell patients; that is also to change their genotype to AS. How many of these procedures have you done so far? We have done two. The first one is a year plus now and the second, we just discharged the patient. Minimum cost? Well, on the average, it costs between N8m-N6m, depending on the number of supportive care. That is when we are doing a sickle patient. If we have the support of the Federal Government in the way of subsidizing the equipments in a space that is big enough to take five to10 people at a time, then it will reduce the cost. We need a good international centre with a lot of transplant rooms, so that if we are doing more than one, we can share the cost. Like now, we have to run generator for one hundred days for an individual. If it is for five individuals, it makes it easier and the cost will definitely trickle down to maybe N2m. How long does it take to carry out a procedure? It takes an average of three months or 100 days because at that period, you have a lot of tests and checks involved, though some may be discharged before one hundred days. How many of you are trained in this specialty? For now, I am the only one trained in the hospital. Who are your major targets in this project? The therapy is good for both sickle cell and anything that has to do with cell transplant. This is the first in West Africa and third in the whole of Africa, after Egypt and South Africa. This can be replicated in the six geo-political zones. India for instance, has about 20 centres. An average of N1 billion should be able to set up a centre. As Benue state continues to grapple with the rising figures of HIV/AIDS in the state, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Agency for the Control of Aids (BENSACA), Mrs. Grace Wende has revealed that the agency recently discovered a 400-member homosexuals club existing in Makurdi the Benue state capital. She said the organisation otherwise known as Men Sleeping with Men, MSM, has a large membership of male students from higher institutions in the state. Wende who made this disclosure yesterday at a one day Training of Media Practioners on HIV/AIDS in Makurdi, said the existence of the gay club in the state was not helping the state government’s efforts at curbing the spread of the HIV virus in the state. According to her, “the club was discovered during an Epidermic appraisal carried out by our Canadian partners in colloboration with BENSACA following the state government’s resolve to fight the increasing trend of HIV/AIDs in the state as shown in 2011 survey. ”In fact my office is already interacting with the group of young men who are mostly undergraduates in various higher institution of learning located in the state.” She stressed that the idea of identifying with the MSM which usually holds their meetings in December in Makurdi was meant to reduce the spread of HIV virus commonly found among them. Mrs Wende further urged all stakeholders to join the fight against the virus in the state, stressing, “there is a heightened need for scale-up of effective and efficient HIV prevention efforts in the state if we must all win this war against the virus.” Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/400-member-homosexual-club-found-in-benue-state/ |

US President Barack Obama will visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where Christians believe Jesus was born, when he visits the region next week, Palestinian sources said. The Palestinian Authority was officially informed by US authorities that Obama would travel to Bethlehem in the Israeli-occupied West Bank to visit the site where Christians believe Mary gave birth to Jesus in a stable, the sources said. Obama begins a three-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories on March 20, Israel said on Sunday, in the first official announcement of the much-anticipated visit — his first as president. He will hold talks with Israeli officials in Jerusalem and travel to Ramallah in the West Bank, seat of the Palestinian Authority, and Bethlehem on March 21. On June 29 the UN cultural body UNESCO overrode Israeli objections to urgently grant world heritage status to the Church of the Nativity. UNESCO’s 13-6 secret vote to add the Church of the Nativity and its pilgrimage route to the prestigious list was received with a round of rousing applause and a celebratory fist pump by the beaming head of the Palestinian delegation, and deep disappointment from Israeli ally Washington. The US delegation to UNESCO said at the time that it was “profoundly disappointed,” while stressing that “this body should not be politicised.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/obama-to-visit-jesus-birthplace-in-bethlehem/ |
