Landlady Sues Dead Tenant – Laughter in Court

There was a mild drama at the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Tuesday when the court was told that the respondent in a civil matter before it died before the suit was filed.

The respondent, Bosu Felix Agunbiade, died eight years ago.

The landlady, Mrs. Funmilayo Oshinaike of 5, Araromi Street, Ejigbo, Lagos, dragged her dead tenant to the court to recover arrears of rent totalling N450, 000 and take possession of the apartment.

Elizabeth Agunbiade, wife of the respondent, who was present, told the court that her husband died eight years ago and her landlady knew, but still went ahead to file the suit.

She said she was not served with any court paper.

But the landlady told the court that she filed the suit in Agunbiade’s name because he was his tenant.

P.M.NEWS learnt that after tenant’s death, his family continued to live in the apartment. Two years ago, the rent was hiked and the widow was unable to pay.

Elizabeth’s revelation that her husband died eight years ago provoked laughter in court, with the magistrate wondering why a dead man should be dragged to court.

She later asked the widow to prove her claims at the next court appearance.

The matter has been adjourned till 5 February, 2013.

Culled from Naij
Lol, this should be an eye opener to other property agents/owners out there, the landlady should have known better to change the name in the tenancy agreement form to reflect the physical being. smiley

Hall of fame = Prof. Bath Nnaji for his outstanding performance of which the Nairaland PHCN staff members were not happy with, hence bent on upturning .

Hall of shame: Farouk Lawan for obvious reasons.

Those putting Achebe in the hall of shame are bunch of losers, they are the reason Nigeria is where it is, Achebe is positively recognised internationally and the bigots with their pull him down syndrome are here doing what they know how to do best. Arrant nonsense!

why are people over working themselves? there's no even a name tag labelled Ezenwanyi beneath her name. Nobody even notices her title on here, she's not even proud of such position.
stripping her of that position wouldn't make any difference unless there's a material reward that it comes with.smiley
But it will make more sense if she'd come up and tender her resignation grin

PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Election 2012 - And the winner is ... by Igwe9(m):
if police woman and ogugua can make it on the ballot papers without openly declaration of interest, what stops Point B from including the male counterpart in this exercise knowing fully well that what is what doing is worth doing well.

Although I supported your decision on okija for the lack of maturity in his disposition but your not too good attitude when it comes to welcoming good suggestions is tantamount to dictatorship.

since I have limited option, and the need to give another person chance to parade him/herself as the Ndi-Igbo spokesperson on this forum,
I hereby cast my vote as follow:

Odumchi----Eze
policewoman------Eze Nwanyi

berem: what's wrong writing in igbo language? What he is saying isn't different from what I said.he simply said since Okija Juju have been struck out from the election,so be it.he also nominated Odumchi for Eze.shikena!
Why translating it for them, that definetly defeats the intent and purposes of it at the first instance.
Some packages are simply not meant for the public consumption but to a particular recepient.

What type of human-being would stick around online, day and night fighting for a shadowy position huh position one can easily attach to his signature and gallivant all over the thread seeking attention.
I think his intention is to derail the thread but he will fail, in short he's only bringing his comic side to the whole exercise. cheesy

PointB: I don't think I can do that. Those who nominated them should do them the honour. It's look much better that way.
With due respect Mr. P, I don't think so, since you are the convener, I think it will be noble of you to send them PM informing them of their nominations and the need for their making their stance known to us for time sake.

In the other hand, Just imagine how many PMs they'd get from their nominators following your suggestion.

On what ground are people nominating this Okija Juju?
I'd rather they campaigned for him for the position of NL chief priest (Eze mmuo) at the religion section than here he's somehow having a kind of identity crises. . smiley

“The most important thing to me here is the recognition by political and renowned academic leaders across the continent for the job, which would further give the continent a better position in global economic matters.“Even if eventually I don’t get the job, I still will feel honoured for being the target of a continental acceptance on a global matter that affects global economic growth.”
