You are entitled to your opinion, but if you really look at my later comment,s you will see that Anambra politics is a very dangerous one. That is why, I have created a level playing ground for all the candidates.
Can you tell me how dangerous Anambra state politics is? . . . . .I must tell you that Anambra state political intrigues is really fascinating and some how enjoyable to observe., although it also has some bad elements.
At least, I cant remember of any political assasination in Anambra state;conversely, we always witness high profile political assasinations in other parts of the Nigeria, especially in the Western states .

Piracy: Yoruba Film Marketers Cry For Help
CHAIRMAN of the Yoruba Video Film Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (YOVIFPMAN), Alhaji Saheed Ishola Ayedun has appealed to the Minister of Information and Communications, Professor. Dora Akunyili to save the Yoruba film industry from total extinction as the industry suffers huge losses from piracy.
In a chat with our correspondent in his office at Idumota, Ishola, said the activities of pirates have crumbled the business activities of Yoruba film marketers. He noted that unless, something is done urgently, the marketers may be totally run out of business.
Conspicuously displaying the DVD, said to emanate from Alaba International Market, which has about 14  different Yoruba films, Ishola said his association has formally written to the Censors Board and the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) for protection however, nothing seems to be coming from that quarters for now.
"We have written to the NCC and the Censors Board on this issue. We have held series of meeting with these two bodies but their response is not as fast as we expect because we are really suffering from piracy. Most of our members take facility from banks to produce their jobs and these Alaba people are killing us, destroying the future of our business and further impoverishing our artistes".
Lamenting the huge losses recorded by his members over the piracy issue, he said "These pirates put between 6 and 20 different Yoruba films in a single DVD and sell at a highly ridiculous price. You can imagine a movie that was released on Monday to be in circulation by the pirates on Tuesday!
We are indeed suffering and something must be done urgently to stem the tide before it develops to an intra-tribal war. How can these people come here, make money from our land and still kill our business. We will never allow this to happen".
Appealing to Akunyili to step into the case bearing in mind her antecedent at NAFDAC, he said the association has formed a raiding committee that will see to it that anybody caught selling the pirated copies of Yoruba films will be adequately dealt with and handed over to the police. "The Nigerian Police force has really assisted us in this case. We look forward to them to help us more in the weeks ahead because we are going all out to fight for the survival of our business. I enjoin other regulatory authorities to support us in this fight against piracy. The support of both NCC and the Censors Board should be now and immediate. We must be made to feel that we have regulators, and not leave us to be on our own" Ayedun fervently concluded.

Why is it that Yoruba people always like to fight tribal war with mouth. The last one was to fight Niger deltans because of MEND,
now they want to fight AlabaIgbo people.

PoliticsKidnapped Kaduna State SSG "Two Million Naira Feeding Allowance Already Paid"" by IGWEUSA(op): 10:35am On Sep 27, 2009
The  Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Mr Waje Yayok, who was kidnapped last Monday may have been held  in  a hide-out in Edo State, a family source told Sunday Trust last night.
Though the police kept sealed lips on his whereabouts, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Aminu Lawal, told our reporter that, “we are making progress.”

The police had vowed to secure the release of the SSG in 24 hours, but apparently over 144 hours after the kidnap, the police seemed to be at a loss as to how to rescue Yayok from his abductors.

A close family source told this newspaper that the senior government official was actually kidnapped at a relaxation spot in Kaduna metropolis, contrary to earlier police claim that he was abducted in his home town, Manchok in the Southern part of the state.

The source told Sunday Trust that already the sum of N2 million had been paid to the kidnappers as “feeding allowance,” of the SSG. Since his abduction, the source added, the kidnappers had been allowing Yayok to speak to his wife every night to assure her of her husband’s safety.

Despite several assurances that the police would unravel the abduction case, an inside source said that not much was happening. But the Kaduna State Police Command said that it was still making progress in its effort to secure his release.

The President of Moroa Development Association, Comrade John Duniya told Sunday Trust last night that his kinsmen had to resort to prayers to facilitate the release of the SSG, even as they appealed to the kidnappers to see reason and release their brother.

Comrade Duniya said, “the kidnap of our brother is very unfortunate and unprecedented. We are appealing to the kidnappers to see reason and release our brother. We are equally mobilising the faithful to pray for the release of our loved one. We appreciate the Kaduna State government’s efforts in trying to secure the release of the SSG.”Cont’d from page 1

Sunday Trust reliably gathered last night from a senior government official in the state that the Kaduna State Government believed that if the State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Tambari Yabo Muhammed, had liaised with telecommunication companies in the country, they would have been able to resolve the riddle without delay.

Also, Sunday Trust gathered that there was a lack of synergy between the security organisations in the state and this seemed to be the main reason why it was taking a longer time to secure Yayok’s release.

SSG Yayok’s is the second kidnapping case in the state after that of Canadian woman Julianne Mulligan Ann, a rotarian who came to the state on an exchange programme in April this year.

Also last Thursday, a Zaria-based businessman, Alhaji Bala Maikusa, Chairman and Chief Executive of Albabello Trading Company, was abducted in his Tudun Jukun residence, Zaria.  There is no clue as to where he has been taken to as at last night.

ROTFLMAO!! shocked    The kidnappers have already collected the feeding allowance of the SSG, they are now waiting for their main ransom.

Seven Northern states spend N1 billion on ‘Ramadan feeding’
Written by Nuruddeen M. Abdallah & Haruna Ibrahim
Sunday, 27 September 2009 05:02
Ramadan Feeding
About N1 billion was spent by some seven Northern state governments during their Ramadan feeding exercise held during the Fasting period, Sunday Trust investigation has revealed. The food items provided in the various feeding centres across the states included pap (koko), bean cake (kosai), jollof rice, dates, meat.
Kano and Sokoto States had the highest budget of N120 million each for the exercise that took place in 50 and 120 centres respectively in the two states. Apart from the state government’s approved budget, the 44 local governments in Kano State also embarked upon the feeding exercise with not less than N5 million each while the holy month lasted.Sunday Trust gathered that Nassarawa local government, where the State Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau comes from, spent N4.6 million during the exercise where it distributed 110 bags of rice to the public in 11 wards.

The states of Zamfara and Yobe officially spent N100 million and N70 million respectively for the feeding exercise. Bauchi state spent N50 million, Jigawa state over N60 million while Kebbi state over N150 million.

The Ramadan feeding programme was introduced as a government policy in the Northern part of the country after the implementation of the Sharia legal system by some state governments in the region. The exercise was brought to the limelight by the Governor Ibrahim Shekarau in Kano state in 2003 as part of his human development strategy.

In Kano, the exercise was carried out by the state’s Zakkah and Hubusi Commission, the organisation that has been facilitating the feeding exercise across the state in the last six years. According to a commissioner with the Commission, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad Koki, no fewer than 40,000 people had enjoyed the free feeding gesture while the Ramadan fast lasted.

The Commissioner stated that the Zakkah and Hubusi Commission has created 50 designated centres for effective coverage on target audience, adding that each centre also had 50 ad-hoc  supporting staff.

Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad Koki explained that the ad hoc staffs were made up of members of security personnel, food scientist, and civil servants employed to see to the smooth exercise, pointing out that the Commission paid them stipend in appreciation of their services.

Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad Koki said that the Commission arranged varieties of food in a packs as take away and distributed to the needy in each of the centres, maintaining that officials were mandated to taste the varieties to ensure quality.

‘We have mandated our officials to take home the pack and taste in order to ascertain the quality of the food we are giving out to our people all in  a bid that we get value for our money”, Sa’idu Koki explained.

In Zamfara State, the state government released the sum of N100 million for this year’s Ramadan free feeding programme in 151 feeding centres across the state.  The state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Malam Tukur Sani Jangebe explained that the gesture was part of the state government’s commitment towards ensuring the provision of free food for the people particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

He revealed that 100 feeding centres which include all the 19 Jumu’at mosques in Gusau town were earmarked for the state capital alone, while three feeding centres were established in each of the 17 Emirate councils of the state to provide food for the people to break their Ramadan fast with ease.

Earlier, the commissioner added, the state government had directed all the local government councils of the state to distribute at least 1000 bags of grains and additional N1000 pocket money to each bag of grain to be given to the people in their respective areas as means of assisting them enjoy their Ramadan fast.

Investigations by Sunday Trust in the designated centres indicated that the programme was not as real as the government said. Several designated centres visited by our correspondent were empty as with very few people with only beans cake and pap and in some places with some dates were provided though in very small quantity. Most people who spoke to Sunday Trust expressed their disappointment over the failure of the exercise.

A resident of Gusau who gave his name as Isa, who spoke to our correspondent in one of the centres said that “it is a pity that the state government would deceive people at this holy month of Ramadan. You can see for yourself where is the food the government provided for us? This is nothing but deception. It is clear that some people had hijacked the money and channelled them into their private pockets.”

Another resident of Gusau who spoke in confidence told Sunday Trust they only heard of the feeding and grain distribution exercise on radio. “The exercise as you can see for yourself is only conducted in the media. Where is the cooked food promised by the government? Tell them that, as usual, we have not seen anything. So it is the normal political talk, nothing more,” the aggrieved resident said.

In Kebbi State, the wife of the state Governor, Hajiya Zainab Dakingari, had disbursed 3,000 bags of assorted grains to destitute and physically challenged in all the 21 local governments of the state. The first lady gave out the grains to complement the 38,000 bags of assorted grains that included rice, guinea corn, millet and maize, allocated by the state government to the general public in all the local government areas to cushion the harsh economic effect during the Ramadan fast.

Unofficial sources said that more than N150 million was spent in the exercise even though there was no official confirmation as at the time of press. There are reports that the exercise was marred by irregularities with so many people not benefitting from the exercise.

While flagging off the distribution of the grains at Birnin-Kebbi local government area, Mrs Dakingari announced that 440 bags of the assorted grains had been allocated to only Birnin-Kebbi local government area and that the remaining 20 local government areas would get 190 bags each. She advised the committee set up to ensure equitable distribution of the grains among the less privileged women throughout the state. The grains include: rice, guinea corn, millet and maize.

In Yobe State, the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Malam Habu Dauda Gulani stated that the state had set aside N70 million for the provision of breakfast (iftar) to thousands of less privileged Muslims who are fasting in all the 17 local government areas of the state.

This amount also covered the allowances for Islamic clerics who had been posted to various locations across the state to preach throughout the 30 days fasting period, adding that Governor Ibrahim Gaidam had approved 31 feeding centres and 81 designated preaching centres.

He said the gesture of providing food at sunset was meant to reduce hardship being faced by less privileged Muslim faithful who find it difficult to afford meal at sunset.  Gulani said jollof rice, pap, bean cake, dates and meat were served at the feeding centres, stressing that commissioners were assigned the responsibility of monitoring the distribution of the breakfast package in their various local government areas.

In Bauchi state, the exercise ended up in crisis as most of the designated centres didn’t receive their share of the N50 million approved for the exercise. Sunday Trust gathered that the Ramadan Feeding Committee Chairman and Special Adviser on Education and Social Orientation to the Governor Isa Yuguda, Dr Salisu Shehu was apparently angry with what he saw in Kafin Madaki, in Ganjuwa local government when the Chief Imam of one of the designated mosque told him that he only received N10, 000 instead of the publicised N100,000.

The situation, according to our investigation was not any different in Ningi, Warji, Alkaleri among several others. The exercise was hijacked by politicians at all level of governance leaving the expected beneficiaries with nothing. Dr Shehu promised that the government would investigate the matter with a view of bringing the culprits to book.

The situation was not any different in Jigawa State, as the state government reportedly spent over N60 million in Ramadan feeding both in the state government house as well as the 27 local government areas in the state. Sunday Trust gathered that 10 of the 27 local governments had spent N30,000 per day each for 28 days for the exercise. While the remaining 17 spent N20,000 per day each for 28 days also for the exercise.

The exercise, according to pundits, is a misplaced priority aimed at scoring cheap popularity “for instance, in Sokoto State the state government had procured some luxurious vehicles that included several Hillux jeeps and buses for the exercise.”  The monies spent should have been utilised in providing tangible improvement to the lives of the people, observers say just as it was viewed by many as a conduit for siphoning public funds.

Nairalanders is this not another avenue for the Northern Gov'nors to be decieving the almajiris and at the same time looting them blind.

I mean shit when do you see a westerner kidnapping in the East or building churches in the North across from muslim extremists. ITS COMMON SENSE STOP LOOKING FOR TROUBLE

Just look at how you are exposing your sheer stupidity on this public forum . . . . If I may ask, how old are you? You never cease to exhibit the traits of a scalawag in your postings.
------How did you ascertain that the kidnappers of this recent victim are from the South Eastern part of Nigeria and not the South Eastern part of
kaduna where the SSG was kidnapped?
------Also, why on earth should you believe that the kidnappers will tell their victim/victims the location of their hideout?

In one of your previous postings, you asserted that kidnapping is a South Eastern Nigeria thing. . . If I may ask, did ransom kidnapping originate from the south Eastern part of Nigeria? No! Is the south Eastern part of Nigeria the the only area that had witnessed infamous kidnappings ?No!
I guess you have a memory lapse, if not you would have recalled that lots of kidnappings have been going on in the Western part of Nigeria. Not less than three months ago, we all heard the news of the Lagos state House of Assembly minority leader that was kidnapped. Believe me, this is not the only kidnapping happening over there, but we only hear about the high profile cases in the media because the low profile ones are now the norm.

Based on your mentality, I can unequivocally assert that Murder/Assasination is a thing of the WESTERN part of Nigeria by referrencing the recent murder of Bayo Ohu, the recent political murders in Ekiti state, the 2003 assasination of the world bank economist who was contesting the Ekiti state gubernatorial election, also the 2003 grusome bludgeon of Engr Funsho Williams who was also contesting the Lagos state gubernatorial election . . the list is endless.

I expect you and the poster to blame your Almajiri brothers for the recent wave of kidnappings in the Northern part of Nigeria;atleast they are now striking back at the real architects and executors of the quagmire Nigeria had found itself today

The liberals must continue fighting the imbeciles called Republicans and must not back down.
Joe Wilson must be dealt with in the next election so that his opponent kicks him out of office.
b]Finally, may God punish Joe Wilson for disrespecting Obama in that way! angry
You liberals may keep on blowing the same line of tantrums adnauseam, but dont bring in the name of God in this debate;afterall you guys are the party of gay, lesbianism, abortion and all sorts of devilish atrocities.
Where were you when Bush was disrespected by liberals through out his administration? huh . . . . Ok. lemme just call it hypocrisy.

May be you can glance through this politico article and refute any of your objection.

Joe Wilson's 15 minutes of infamy notwithstanding, Democrats were pretty rough on George W. Bush during a joint sessions a few years back.

Two examples:

In 2004, Democrats delivered a “Chorus Of Boos” during Bush's Bush’s State Of The Union when he called for renewal of the Patriot Act., according to the Washington Times.

In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted "No!" when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU:  "Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice," according to the National Journal.

At the time, CNN's Bill Schneider remarked,  “It was unusual. I had never heard it at least at that level before. The Democrats clearly were booing, heckling, saying no when the president talked about the crisis in Social Security."

Moreover, Obama's claim that illegal immigrants won't be covered -- which sparked Wilson's outburst -- while technically accurate, doesn't quite tell the entire story. Some of the bills being considered in the House and Senate contain provisions locking in local statutes that prevent providers from inquiring about immigration status prior to treatment. And illegals are treated, and are bound to be treated, in ERs, covered by local, state and federal uninsured pools.

So why the outcry over Wilson?

I think it's because Congressional Republicans have used the health care debate to vent a deeper, uglier contempt for Obama that verges on the personal.

They've done little to discourage the party's fringes from questioning Obama's legitimacy to serve through the birther movement, fitness to govern through the death panel canard -- and even the territorial integrity of the US under a Democratic president through Texas Gov. Rick Perry's flirtation with secession.

Anger may stoke the base at town halls -- and goose Glenn Beck -- but it just looks ugly on the national stage.
