PoliticsRe: Chimamanda Adichie's Article On The Oba Of Lagos Saga by ikechukwu354(m): 10:03am On Apr 11, 2015
Ymodulus:
I think I will start by trying to be Anthropomorphic, as it will bet express my heading.
Its really sad when insanity realizes that he has a mental disorder then he is as good as cured. The moment a people come to terms with their complex problem which often place them at loggerheads with their host communities the better for them.

I seem not to fathom how a tribe claim to have suffered humiliations and deprivation from other ethnic nationalities. This allegation should be consider very weighty even though it was not substantiated. Nonetheless, this aggrieved ethnic nationality needs to ask herself what is about it that could be responsible for the purported hostile acts of other ethnic nationalities toward it.

One problem I have with Chimanda is all her articles tends to quote Chinua Achebe, even when its evident chinua actions are wrong. The sane mistake she made, about his book "there was a country". Now she is trying to say that the Igbo's were murdered in early 1960's for political reasons? Who started the war? Was it the Nigerian Arny or The late Ojukwu ? I see Chimabda is biased. And she is just a staunt re-echoer of Chinua Achebe's belief.

I liked the fact that she related the massacre of the Ibos in different parts of the country before the civil war. However what I do like to ask her is this,

1. chimanda was there nothing that led to the massacre?

You can't deny that the tendency to dominate in another man's land which is being exhibited now by taking the Oba to court is what led to such. Tell me when you come back from court if the people of Lagos will still have a good relationship with the Ibos.

Chimanda while trying to play a neutral ground at the surface, is been biased deep down. I am sorry to say but if Chimanda spent her time writing this, she wasted that time. As this just further lowered NY respect for her as an internationally recognised writer. Novel is her thing not politics.

Just imagine how shez is spreading lies about 1960s massacre. Posterity Judge you.
this please please please stop the rubbish... ah the oba has done wrong and people still back him up, den when dey talk of dividing the country so there will be peace u start praying against the devil plan to destroy nigeria, when we are seen as evil in our own land... they want us to die... upon the destabilization of the igbo wealth during the war, they still want us to die... Its nature that will judge u all cux the oba just made somebody unpatriotic, hatred kipping in my mind for nigeria, it was not like dat....

7. Free meals for Children.
8. Create 7 million jobs per annum.
9. Free health care for everyone.
10. Turn Nigeria into Dubai.

They were busy making unrealistic plans without adequately streamlining the Viability and Possibility of implementing them. No road map on where the funds will come nor how they intend to generate finances needed to fulfill these bogus projects.

So there you have it Nigeria. This is the Change you voted for. Change from making promises to breaking promises.

PoliticsRe: Alleged Anti-Igbo Comment: What Oba Akiolu Really Said — Palace by ikechukwu354(m): 6:26pm On Apr 06, 2015
KazeemDiary:
The palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has issued a statement, clarifying the Oba’s statement when Igbo leaders in Lagos visited him on Sunday.
Read full statement below.

THE PALACE MAKES FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON THE STATEMENT BY THE OBA OF LAGOS.
‎My attention has been drawn to a publication in a national newspaper where HRM Oba Riliwanu Akinolu was alleged to have threatened Igbos in Lagos to make them vote for Ambode.

Last Sunday, all honorary Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid a courtesy call to HRM Oba Akinolu. At the meeting the visitors praised the Oba for his fatherly support for and cooperation with Igbos in. Lagos. They assured him of their continued good neighborliness with other tribes in Lagos and support everything that’ll further strengthen that harmony.

Oba Akiolu on his part acknowledged the enviable performance of Governor Fashola and his contribution to the growth of investments in Lagos. He gave the assurance that he is not disturbed or angry with South-East and South- South votes for President Jonathan as perceived by the Eze Ndigbos. The Obas thereafter called on the Igbos chiefs to show appreciation to Lagos State by supporting his candidate Mr. Ambode for continuity of excellence as they have earlier promised.
He assured them of his continued support‎ and assistance where needed and the meeting ended with the traditional breaking of kolas, alligator pepper, and bitter kola and pouring of liberation on the ground. It was within this context that that the tradition of Lagos with regard to the lagoon came up. It was noted that whoever works against the throne and the interest and peaceful co-existence of Lagos would end up in the lagoon as per tradition.

2.Oba Akiolu stated further that the Igbo people have not betrayed the throne. Lagos has also not betrayed the Igbo people. Lagos has done so much to make the Igbos comfortable and to prosper. For this, we expect reciprocal respect and understanding. The Oba of Lagos prays that the Lagoon and the throne will continue to bless and protect all those who reside and visit Lagos.

3. Oba Akiolu is the father of all irrespective of tribe, religion or political persuasion. In Lagos, we have an old traditional proverb that relates to the Lagoon. The Lagoon is unique to Lagos. The proverb stresses the need for unity and understanding when you do business in an environment and in this case when you live and do business in Lagos.
Oba Akiolu prays for peace for the land of Lagos and prosperity for all its inhabitants.
Signed: Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, Opeluwa of Lagos

PoliticsRe: Asari Dokubo Issues A New Threat by ikechukwu354(m): 1:11am On Apr 02, 2015
LogicPower:
1. We called the bluff of Asari and co before the election, that no matter how well prepared they think they are, militarily, financially and otherwise, it is ABSURDLY DELUSIONAL of them to think that they could threaten the rest of the country and intimidate everyone into voting for their kinsman against their will.

2. Are we not vindicated now? Has Asari or any of his fellow miscreants got any reports of some 'Gambaris' in the North or 'their slaves' in the SW shivering and scampering to the polling booths to vote for GEJ so that the Asaris would not destroy the country if their kinsman was not re-elected?.

3. Now that Nigerians have called the bluff of Asari and co and elected a 'Gambari' and 'his slave' as the nation's president and VP respectively for the next four years, it is in entirely up to the Asaris to choose between living in the country as law-abiding citizens, relocating abroad permanently in protest, or remaining in the country to try using their accumulated weapons, resources, training and personnel to defy and challenge the authority of the in-coming government, and dare the consequences.

4. As for the ordinary law-abiding people of ND, they should rest assured that, God willing, their lot would even be better under the new progressive government of APC; as the in-coming government reduces corruption and looting, it would have more resources available for people-oriented projects that would help reduce poverty and unemployment across the country, ND region inclusive.

5. Many of us are fully aware of the fact that the GEJ' presidency hardly did anything to improve the quality of their lives, as the greatest chunk of the trillions that were allocated to the region in the last five years sadly ended up in the pockets of their heartless, greedy local exploitative political 'leaders' and the likes of Asaris who turned to over-night billionaires at the expense of their suffering people.

6. Thus the only ND people who should be concerned about the change in government at the center are the highly corrupt political elite from the region (the Arubebes), the over-pampered vagabonds-turned-billionaires (the Asaris) and the opportunistic 'elders' of the region (the Clarks) - the three groups of ND rogues who collectively and individually exploited the plights of the ND people to make stupendous wealth for themselves and their families.

7. These three self-centred groups in the ND would be seriously concerned not because they would necessarily be tried or investigated, but at least because they know their tap of sources for personal aggrandizement, power and influence, which they have been enjoying under the guise of 'protecting' the interests of the ND people, would soon be turned off.
only God knows what affects your judgement. ur blind and to all of you' am igbo and I expect the best from the general taking the fact that gej has lossed in good fate. .. for literates and logical ppl cux dem only can understand

This woman has increased the life span of an average Nigerian.

Examples of her "award winning speeches" include:

1- * Nigeria is a great CONTINENT.

2- * My husband and Sambo IS good people.

3- * I rather KILL myself than commit SUICIDE.

4- * My fellow widows.

5- * I travelled to abroad to rest in peace.

6- * My husband is the best couple on earth.

7- * The doctors are responding to treatment.

8- * For those who said I speech bad English, I left them for God.

9- * Ojukwu is dead, but his Manhood still lives on.

10- * Na only you waka come?

11- * Chai ! Chai !! Chai !!! This blood we are "sharing"

12- * diaris God o...

13- * on behave of N2million I donate my family.

14- *To all those who think Goodluck Jonathan has failed, I have a question for you. When a child fails an exam, isn't the child supposed to be repeated?

Please support and honour Nigeria first lady by sharing this with all your friends.

Don't laugh alone.

FamilyRe: Was I Wrong To Have Moved Out Of My Parents' Place? by ikechukwu354(m): 9:09pm On Mar 23, 2015
masonkz:
So I recently moved out of my parents' place at Ajah to my own mini flat at Oniru. This happened about 2 months ago, January precisely. The problem is..my parents have been angry ever since I took the decision to leave.

The facts:

I'm 24
I'm the third child of five
I've been working for four years in the corporate world.
Intelligent, smart, very nice, the dream of every parent, except for the last part...
I'm gay.

Reasons I moved out:

1.The traffic from Ajah to my work place in VI can be killing and I have not intention to continue that way into the future, whatever number of years my parents may feel I should stay with them more for. I hate spending time in traffic, to and fro, and it can be very much frustrating for the most part.

2. I need my privacy. My parents are the very clingy type who wanna know every thing that's going on in your life. Who visits you, who you visit, the state the person is from and even down to the person's local government. If I dare stay a night out of home, even after giving them an excuse, na quarrel the next day be that. My mum feels i should actually "marry" her first, before thinking of marrying any other girl.

3. I actually wanna start distancing myself a little from my parents, to slowly let the know the real me..and the fact that their expectation of me may not hold, especially with me being gay. I feel if I start distancing myself, I won't have to be totally depressed, along with them, in the event that they finally get to know about my sexuality...which they may soon come to know about.

Apart from that I just feel i need some space at this time of my life. Just staying on my own. I probably don't have enough time before the talks of marriage starts creeping in and the pressure starts coming from all angles to get married to a girl. So I just wanna have the pleasure of actually living my life while visiting my parents and siblings occasionally. So far I've been enjoying staying alone. Finally feel I'm free from just so many ropes. I can invite anyone over without having to explain myself, keep late nights at the office without having to feel the need to report at home why I'm staying out late, or even party out late in rare cases.

Like I said the whole concept of staying alone doesn't fit in well with my parents and I often see the sad face my mum wears whenever I visit, and it's starting to make me feel guilty. But again, don't I also deserve to be happy on my own?? I've tried talking to them but they still feel I'm too young to be staying alone, and that it's just not right. I mean this is four years of me being financially independent. Why should I continue staying with them.

While all these may be too late since it's been 2 months already, I'd still like to know people's opinion on this. Maybe I'm the wrong one, or maybe there are just some things I still need to discuss with them. Dunno . What do you guys think?
my guy not gay tho, but admire the courage tho it's useless in this type of country... buh its also gud u stay alone... creates more respect from ur parents... undecided

All those screaming high up to the heavens that GMB was a former military 'dictator' should remember that a former President, OBJ was a military ruler. Even the present Senate President was formerly in the military. Did they still display their military traits in a democratic setting? Let's think pragmatically here, no sentiments. Our present president could not address the major problem affecting Nigeria today. In my own opinion, it is CORRUPTION. It is corruption in its many forms (bribery, nepotism, fraud, embezzlement) that has adversely affected the economy of Nigeria. Now I'm not an advocate of GMB, but I believe if you can't tackle a problem, leave it to someone who can (that is if you have the interests of the country at heart). GEJ has tried his best, let him give someone else the opportunity to tackle the problems facing this country, and if that person can't, with 2019 by the corner we can always elect someone else.
