zayidhs:Have you found out where the oil is coming out from? Ikenna |
kichos:Prestige is a badge given to some 406 produced by PAN. It's also a specification of a particular 406 produced by PAN, just like we have SR, ST, LX, GLX, SV, V6, etc. It's not only 406 with factory prestige badge that has EW10 engine. Ikenna |
gabng:You will likely source for engine sensors or components online or outside the country. We have more petrol Peugeots than HDIs in Nigeria. Ikenna |
gabng:Good morning. The best of the HDI engines in 407 are the 2.2 L & 2.7 V6, in terms of fuel economy and power. Since you want auto transmission, you may have to forgo 2.2 L HDI since it comes only with 6-speed manual transmission. The city driving consumption is about 34 mpg (8 L/100km). While highway consumption is about 55 mpg (5 L/100km). The 2.7 V6 HDI comes only with 6-speed auto transmission, which makes it very fuel economical. The city driving fuel consumption is about 24 mpg (12 L/100km), while highway consumption is about 44 mpg (7 L/100km). I heard about 3.0 HDI, but yet to see one or find it in Peugeot database. Meanwhile, Abuja Peugeot community members are meeting this coming weekend to eat, drink and chat together as one. Anyway, if I remember anything I haven't talked about on Peugeot 607, I wont hesitate to update this thread with it. Honestly, its an amazing Lion. You need to own one to understand. Not an abused one though. Enjoy your new month. Ikenna |
Let me share a small review with you guys on 2014 European Car of the year, Peugeot 308. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8MzmHLc-eQ Ikenna |
Variable Power Steering in Peugeot 607 V6 The Variable steering system in Peugeot 607 V6 is wonderful. Amazing feel, if I would say. The lower the speed, the lighter and effortless the steering wheel steers. On the other hand, the higher the vehicle speed, the heavier and harder the steering wheel steers, which contributes in turning the lion to a drum on ground on such speeds, for safety no matter the speed you push him to. Olala! The variable steering system is controlled by a servotronic ECU which is indestructible, through a signal from resistor on the steering ram. A well designed system. It still have the conventional indestructible Power steering pump in Inline-4 models. All that is needed to keep the system in good shape is to replace the fluid in the steering system every 2 years. Funny enough, the recommended fluid for the marvelous steering system is the simple ATF in our markets. I have found the Total fluide-II D so good for the system, which you can get at any Total fuel station in Nigeria. A can of it cost about N500 or so, at the point of posting this. 2 or 3 cans is enough to do the fluid change in system. Good enough, it has a symptom that indicates fluid is too old in the system. It tends to be heavier to steer at low speed or stationary when fluid in the system stops doing its function and requires replacement. But as soon as its removed and replaced with new ATF, it automatically becomes sweet again to steer. A reliable, durable and enjoyable steering system, it is. I will be back. Ikenna |
Good day everyone. I said I would talk about the variable steering of Peugeot 607. I have been getting a lot of calls, as a result of this thread. I really appreciate those that find my lecture on 607 very interesting and useful. You are free already from fear that keeps you away from your own happiness and free trying to live your own live by another man's opinion (or what the world calls "Everyone must be right). Will continue to do my best to keep you guys well rightly informed on Peugeots. Now, lets see what this lady has to say about Peugeot 508 before we continue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S9K3pPsZEQ Ikenna |

Peugeot 607 V6 Suspension The suspension in this wonderful Lion is awesome. One of the best Peugeot ever produced and installed in Lions. It's called Variable Suspension. The suspension set up works automatically. It senses the road speed and adjust the Lion's height to give perfect handling at every vehicle speed. The higher the vehicle speed, the firmer it becomes and more it drops the Lions body down (increases and reduces ground clearance), and turn the Lion into a drum on the ground, making it difficult to lift up the ground no matter the condition. Honestly, I love that in mine! Also, its one of the most ever reliable and shock absorbers I have ever have in a Lion. Almost indestructible. Now, where people make mistake is when the On-board computer in 607 V6 reports something wrong with the suspension, some would go and replace shock absorbers that had no issue and still in perfect condition. How do I mean. The shock absorbers in these Lions are independent of part of the suspension that controls the height of these Lions via vehicle speed. And that is the suspension sensors. So when a variable suspension sensor naturally fails, instead of finding out with the right tool which one is faulty, some mechanics would advice owners to replace entire shock absorbers and the sensors. What a waste! These dampers in these V6 Lions are never say die! It's because of the quality of these dampers that some would complain cost arm to them, forgetting that they are made to last decades and hundreds of thousands of kilometers/miles. Peugeots are known for quality and powerful shock absorbers, including the suspension set up. An amazing thing about this variable suspension is, even when the sensors fail, the suspension will stay stuck in speed mode, which is even better and sweet when on highway. Next to talk about is Variable Power Steering in Peugeot 607 V6. Ikenna |
Next, I am going to talk about Peugeot 607 V6 Suspension. Good morning Ikenna |
How to Confirm the State of engine Thermostat in Peugeot 607 cooling system Question has always been, "How I would I know if my Peugeot car still have cooling system Thermostat or not?" Be happy, because I have answer to that. It covers all Peugeot cars This test should be carried out in the morning or when engine is cold, before starting the car for the first time in the day. 1. Open the Bonnet. 2. The upper and lower radiator hoses should be cold as well as the engine. 3. Start the engine, let it idle and wait. 4. After about 5 Minutes, touch the upper radiator hose, it should start feeling warm, while the lower radiator hose remains cold. 5. After 8 minutes, the upper radiator hose will be getting very hot by now, while the lower hose remains cold. It means the Thermostat is still shut or closed. 6. At 10 minutes of engine idling, the temperature gauge should be between 70-80 Degree Celsius, depending on the weather or load on the engine. 7. When the temperature gauge rises to 80 Degree Celsius, touch the lower radiator hose. It should start feeling warm. It means the thermostat has started opening gradually, flowing the hot coolant trapped in the engine into the radiator, while the cold coolant in the radiator is flowed into the engine. All, via the help of Water Pump. 8. At 90 Degree Celsius on the Temperature gauge, both the upper and lower radiator hoses would be hot by now. 9. While at 90 Degree Celsius on instrument panel, the radiator fan should start spinning, after about 30 minutes of Engine idling. The fan will stop spinning after 3 minutes of spinning. And will start spinning again, after 10 minutes, depending on the weather. 10. Switch off the Car. Test is concluded. The above test is to find out, without removing the thermostat from the engine, if the thermostat is still working. If the above result was observed during the test, then the thermostat is intact. If the lower radiator hose remains cold when the temperature gauge needle is resting on 80-90 Degree Celsius, it means the Thermostat has failed by staying closed permanently. If both upper and lower radiator hoses start feeling hot at the same time, within the first 5 minutes starting the car when engine was cold, then either the Thermostat has failed by staying permanently open or thermostat is absent in the cooling system (has been removed). *** On the other hand, I was doing a check on someone's Peugeot 307 cooling system with EW10 engine. The Thermostat housing was routed the other way round. That is, the coolant flows in reverse order in test i explained above. So, the lower hose would get hot before the upper hose and the cylce continues. I will be back! Ikenna |
Peugeot 607 Cooling System cont: COOLANT: The Peugeot 607 cooling system is designed to run on coolant. Coolant helps to elongate the system Water pump life. It helps to keep radiator clean and the entire cooling system. It helps to increase fuel efficiency in 607s, because coolant heats up faster than water. Remeber, the quicker the system gets hot, the lower the fuel consumption. Most people have harmed their Peugeot 607 cooling systems by using only water in the systems. Not good!. It harms the water pump and clogged up the entire system with rust, which will overtime cause overheating to the engine. Avoid water please. Over the years, I have found the available TOTAL Coolant in Nigeria very good for all my Lions. They are pre-mixed, so additional water is not needed. THERMOSTAT Peugeot 607 cooling system runs on a Themostat that regulates the coolant temperature, which determines the engine oil temperature and the entire engine (also for Auto transmissions In Peugeot 607s). The opening temperature of thermostat in Peugeot 607 cooling system designed for temperate countries is 89 degree celsius. So if you have a 607 cooling system designed for cold country, confirm if the thermostat opening temperature is 89 C. If more, get a 89 C one and swap in. They are very much available, irrespective of the engine: EW & ES engines (different shapes though). You may also find one with 82 C opening temperature. But please, dont go below 82 C. The opening temperature is engraved on the thermostat. So its easy to know the opening temperature. Some have harmed or destroyed their 607 engines by removing and running the engine without coling system thermostat. The absence of thermostat in these engines would cause longer frictions in the engines and would rapidly shortens their lifespan. These engines in 607 were designed to run hot, not cold which thermostat would cause. I will be back! Ikenna |
How to maintain the Peugeot 607 cooling system to remain as perfectly designed I have been quite busy for a while. Lets continue with the lecture. As i noted earlier, Peugeot 607 engine cooling system was designed to last as 607 owner wants it. That is, if you want it to last for 50 years, it will do that perfectly. If you want it to last as long as the Lion remains in your ownership, it will gradly do that. If you want it to last only a week, a month or only a year, it will surely do that as well. So, its a choice. Everything in life is choice. If you make a bad choice, your consolation might be to look for whom or what to blame for your mistake, your choice or your decision. Even if you choose to make that choice/decision based on "Everyone's or people's opinion", it was your decision. Peugeot 607 cooling system is designed for 3 regions: Temperate, Hot & Cold countries. For temperate & hot countries, their radiator fans run on 2 speeds (speed 1 & speed 2). Speed 1 comes on only after about 30 or so minutes of engine running at cold start (without AC), depending on ambient temperature. Its noiseless. The only way to know fan is spinning when its on speed one is to peep in through the front grille/bumper, because you will not hear it spin. The speed 1 will gradually increase to maximum speed (speed 2). And will only come on on a very hot day, particulary at stationary/traffic jam in hot afternoon (without AC). Even with AC, speed 1, will run first. Depending on ambient temperature, the speed 2 will come on, spin after a while and goes off. The speed 2 is a noisy one. Even with your windows up, you will hear when it comes on. Then Peugeot 607 cooling system for cold countries. They are of 2 types: speed 1 fan system and speed 1 & 2 fan system. That is, some have only 1 speed, while some have 2 speeds (low & high). Why I am explaining this? You need to first find out what, "how many speeds does your 607 have or one you are interested to acquire have?" Because when you do that, you would know if your Peugeot 607 fan is working as factory, if something is wrong with the system or if the system has been abused. Like i noted earlier, when you understand a system and how it works, maintenance, knowing when something is wrong with the system and troubleshooting the system becomes easy/easier for you. It is that simple! Lecture on Peugeot 607 Engine Cooling system to be continued... Ikenna |
PEUGEOT 607 ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM: PETROL ENGINES Good afternoon everyone. I want to educate you guys on the sweet Peugeot 607 cooling system. Like I pointed out earlier, its on of the simplest and easiest system to understand and troubleshoot. Peugoet 607 petrol engines were all designed to run hot: the EW10 , EW12 & ES engines. The system has one electric cooling fan that maintains required temperature needed for AC (condenser), radiator & engine to perform well. It works marvellous. Depending on region a Peugeot 607 was produced (will come to that later), the fan is powered by 1 or 2 relay(s). The fan is triggerred by CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor), the same sensor that signals to Engine ECU and temperature gauge on the instrument panel, the coolant temperature. The Coolant Thermostats also determines when the fan comes on and goes off, even though it does it indirectly through CTS. The Peugeot 607 cooling system is designed to run as hot 110 degree Celsius, perfectly. In fact, the Peugeot 607 cooling system thermostat maintains the cooling system temperature at 90-100 C, both at idle and under acceleration, irrespective of ambient temperature. The system is that good. It is so good that even as heavy and big as the Lion is, its cooling system ensures a good fuel economy as high as 37.6 mpg (7.5 L/100km) on highspeed from a V6 one. Every cooling system plays a major role in determining fuel consumption of every vehicle. The Peugeot 607 cooling system is a perfect one that keeps the owner smiling whenever he remembers what he owns and enjoy. Why did I say so? Aside fuel economy, the Peugeot 607 cooling system helps the engine to last for decades, hundreds of thousands of kilometers. Because the Peugeot petrol engines in them were designed to run hot, which the cooling system in them makes possible, the engine oil in them gets hot quickly, reduce friction and lubricate the engine properly, which ensures effortless moving parts inside the engine. A cold oil is not good for engines, hence, Peugeot designed the 607 cooling system to eliminate that. So, you stand to gain good fuel economy and long engine lifespan in Peugeot 607. Next, I will Talk about how to maintain the Peugeot 607 cooling system to remain as perfectly designed Ikenna |
I couldn't make out time to continue my lecture on Peugeot 607 today. I have a lot of things to teach about this marvelous Lion. Will continue tomorrow. Good night. Ikenna |
Good morning everyone, Next, I am going to talk about Peugeot 607 Cooling system. I will explain in details how it works in 607, how to troubleshoot a faulty one and how not to abuse that system in Peugeot 607. I will break it down as much as I can, for people who would love to learn and understand the system. Because once you understand how something works, how to use it and how to troubleshoot becomes easy, and most importantly, how to prevent it from failing (preventative maintenance). The Peugeot 607 cooling system is one of the simplest to troubleshoot, irrespective of the petrol engine, an I-4 or V6, for anyone interested to do these things his or herself. And amazing thing is, anyone can do it. It is that easy. Ikenna |
fishleg123:Thank you. This is the message I have been trying to pass across. People let fear push them away from their heart desires. When people spend so much energy complaining or posting wrong information, rather than asking, "How can I....", rather than "Why is that..., why is there...etc". Funny ask those preaching Peugeot 607 in all negative manner, how many of them have touched a 607 car key, let alone sat behind a steering of one, not to think of owing one? Yet, all they know is, someone said this about the lion, someone posted this about the lion, someone, someone, they said, they were saying, we heard, etc. The funny part some people don't take responsibilities. So when something goes wrong with their lions, they will quickly run to online, and try to tell the world how bad the car is. But they would always try to paint it the way they would not be blamed. How many of these reviews showed how the person use the car? What's the maintenance history like? How were they keeping the instructions in the manual? One good part about these Lions is their On-board computers in them. Once it senses or notices a small issue, it warns you of the fault immediately on the Multifunction display. Even when you refused to change your clogged air filter, it warns you immediately of anti-pollution fault. Even when you use a fake oil filter or fake engine oil, it warns you immediately on the MFD. Unfortunately for some, that's what they consider unreliable electrics of Peugeots. They hate seeing those warnings. They would prefer the one that wont warn them, as far as the car keeps moving until it stops moving. Like I have said over and over in this thread, the same VAN-bus electrical system in 406 is the same VAN-bus system in 607 phase I. The same CAN-bus system in phase II 607 is the same on 407. The same mechanicals in 406 is the same in 607. Yet, some would tell you 406 is more reliable than 607 and I keep wondering, where did they get these false information? Let me put it this way everyone will understand. 607 is a luxury version of 406. Both were produced side by side in the same plant, with the same design, from one designer. Anyone that cannot handle a 607 cannot handle a 406. Anyone that can handle a 406 can handle a 607, because difference is only the body and more gadgets installed in 607 since its a luxury version of the other. So if you like abusing cars, stay away from 406 & 607 because they are not for you. But if you want to have them and know how not to abuse them, then please, this thread is for you. If I can be enjoying my lions, any other person can. You don't have to be an expert to do that. And it doesn't cost fortune to do that either. Of course, not everyone will appreciate these information that I am giving out, because I am giving them out free. If you think you can get it elsewhere, do your googling. Ikenna |
praxisnetworks:Smartchoice, I think its high time you became man enough to stop running around. The more you change your identity, the more untrustworthy you become. I know you are Smartchoice because I am Nairaland moderator, so I know. Because, when I comment, anyone that has been following Ikenna351 would know, yes, it was from Ikenna, even if someone tries to impersonate. The same, when you post, its written all over your post. So opening and deactivating your accounts every now and then, shows a lot of suspicion. Now since you really want the truth to come out, let me share with everyone what I know about you and your 206. You posted in the Peugeot community and later called me on the phone, excitedly informing us about your new acquisition, a cub Peugeot 206. You, of course being you, started complaining of few things about the lion. I asked you few questions and came to a conclusion. I don't remember your exact words, but I told you the 206 has been electrically abused, because of symptoms you described to me on the phone. I think I told you too if its possible to return and pick another, and you said the Peugeot 206 was a gift or something or you acquired the lion from a relation. Then, I told you the only way that Lion would serve you well was to revert or fix the abuse done on the electrics, to prevent the BSI unit from crashing completely, which has started showing signs. That was when Diagbox came into the picture, since I recommended that you plugged in PP2000 in the lion to know the extent of the abuse and gradually correct them. I asked you to bring the lion to me, thinking you stay in Abuja, but you said you don't stay in Abuja. You indicated interest in buying Diagbox from, which later turned out you the way I wouldn't want to state here. You called me a scam or thief the other day in this thread. If I had wanted to respond to that, the world would see truly who is a scam among us. But lets not go there. I could remember how you would always come to the Peugeot community to complain about the poor Peugeot 206 in your possession, and how I kept telling you that until those abuse on the electrics are reversed or corrected, you will expect more things to complain of. I could remember how you called me one day and complained bitterly how you took the Peugeot 206 to a quack auto electrician to fix horn for you, only to have the Lion refused to start after he must have done a terrible connection on the poor lion. I recalled how I told you that if the lion, even with abuse electrics, was starting before the moment you drove into the electrician place, but now refused to start after he messed up the wires, then the electrician probably is the type that couldn't differentiate between a spanner and screwdriver. I asked you to tell the electrician to reverse whatever he has connected on the lion, for a start. Eventually, you posted in the house how you get the car started by yourself. Now, tell yourself the truth, who would you blame? The poor Lion or you? Let me cut the story short, it baffles me that you hated Peugeot that much, yet you are so bitter that I removed you from Peugeot community I created. I sent you an SMS, explaining to you why I had to remove you, because you didn't fit in. The world I created isn't fit for you. I even explain to you that you can create your "Anti-Peugeot community" where you can gather people like you, so that you guys can eat negative, sleep negatives, swim in negatives and any negative experience you could ever wanted. But that's not the world I created. I created a Peugeot community, a Lions Den, where Lions and lionesses come together to share love, appreciate and respect each other, appreciate what they have and live a happy fun. I didn't create a sorrowful and antagonistic house. For example, if Peugeot cars are that nightmare to their owners like you preach, how come my Peugeot community Kaduna house members had their get-together yesterday and had fun, stayed up till 1am this morning before they departed? Was I there with them? Do I live in Kaduna? Did I mandate them to meet? Do I give them money to repair their lions if they were that troublesome? Do you think if their lions were nightmares to them, they would meet, spend their money and chat with each other till that time? That's the world I created. People that have experienced how good their lions are and decided to find how they will continue to enjoy the peace their lions give them. That's the world I created. So, again, sorry, with your attitude, you don't fit in. You can create your own Peugeot group on WhatsApp and fill it win with your kind. A peace of advice. I don't think your issue with Peugeot is truly Peugeot, I think its YOU. Have some reflections. Go through all your posts since you joined Nairaland under Smartchoice username. All your posts have been full of negativity. Even the Benz you seem to be fan of, you complain of that too. How many of your Benz have you complained how their engines have failed on you and you replace them? How many times did you complain of electrical issues on your Benz w202? It's very simple, you can have it trouble-free, as long as all you look for from your surroundings or what you have is negatives or how bad they are. It will always become your experience. Prayer is not that 100 prayer points you make noise every day in Church or in your house. Prayer is that thought and feelings you hold inside you, not the noise people make. Because, your thoughts and feelings determines your words and actions, and that what manifests your reality. God has given each and everyone of us to create his reality, so if you keep seeking for negatives or enjoy talking or complaining about every little thing around you, it becomes your reality. Because that's truly what you want and you will get more of what will make you complain everytime, in all spheres of your life. I am trying to tell you how to live your life, but you can't get it otherwise if you keep this lifestyle. It's your life. Your call! Now, lets come to your comment on Peugeot timing belt. Last month, a colleague of mine that drives Toyota Camry was driving home. His car suddenly stalled and refused to start. He called me, even though it was late at night. I had to leave my house to Area 3 to get a towing Van, to go and meet him and tow the car to office. I got back home around 12am. I even mentioned it in the Peugeot community II that night, which you would remember, since you were still a member of the house then. The next day, his mechanic came and said it was the timing belt that broke. Now, that's for the Toyota Camry. This last week, a colleague of mine too was driving his Honda Accord V6 (EOD) and the car suddenly stalled as well and refused to start. He had to tow the car to Apo that day. He later got call from his mechanic that it was the timing belt (or chain, I don't remember the exact mechanic words) that broke and that it damaged the valves too. Now the question is, why is that when something that could happen to any other car happens to a Peugeot car, the some uninformed people make noise about it? Besides, whose fault it is that people carelessly (some unintentionally) refuse to replace their timing belts or other renewable parts when due as recommended by manufacturer, when these parts fail? If a manufacturer said use this engine oil in this car and you chose to use hydraulic inside the engine instead, whose fault it is when the engine fails? If a manufacturer said change this belt every certain km or years, and you prefer to change it only when it fails or breaks, whose fault it is? I recalled how you were complaining in Benz thread how a whole wiring harness of w202 would expire after certain mileage and would need to be replaced. Do you know what it actually means to someone looking for a car to buy when you tell him or her that he would have to replace the whole wires on the car at certain time because it would all expire someday? How many Peugeots have you driven that has ever had that issue? You see, for some people, when they have a problem, they go about complaining about it, as if the complain is the solution to the problem. While some, would stand and find solution, even a permanent one, so that the issue doesn't surface again. These are two groups of people we have on this planet Earth. The other day, a lady that drives Peugeot 206 was telling me that she would rather give that Lion to a family member if she wants to upgrade, simply because, in her own words "The car has served me so well that she has become part of me and I wouldn't want her to leave the family". The lady stays in Abuja. This conversation took place late last year. That's because she said no to "Abuse". What people like you don't understand is, it cost little to run a Peugeot car when you keep to factory and say no to abuse. When you abuse your Lion, which happens when people want to cut corners in their lions, you will end up introducing more issues on the entire systems of the lion, which will force you to frequent mechanic places. What do you think will happen when you bypass original radiator fan connection? Frequent fan failure and more fuel consumption, right? Now, the more the fuel consumption, you would always take it to a workshop to find out the cause of the high fuel consumption, which will lad to more abuse, by trying to cut more corners to stop the high consumption. The same is applicable to other forms of abuse. Now you were talking about cost of a Peugeot engine. It's very unfortunate for you that you have conditioned your mind to constantly abuse whatever car you own. People like me have no business with cost of engine of my lions. Because I didn't get any of them to replace their engines, rather, I got them to run them with their engines throughout my ownerships of them. Engines were not produced to fail, what kills them these days are abuse. People have driven their Peugeot cars beyond 800,000 kilometers on their mileage counter, on their original engines. We are talking of years or even decades here to attain such mileage. As long as what controls and monitors the engine and what you put inside the engine are in kept in good condition or are good, you have no business with engine replacement whatsoever. If an EW12 cost 160k, so what? Don't you know a Tokunbo engine of 505(XN1A) cost about 150k also? Peugeot engines are built with quality, so don't expect them cheap. So, if yours fail on you, ask yourself some personal questions why you can't maintain engine that girls comfortable do with low cost. Ikenna |
Good afternoon House. I want to continue with Talk on Peugeot 607. But before I do, there is something I need to address once and for all. Ikenna |
LegatusGlaber:Just like Joseph Campbell said and I quote: "The Cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek". Good morning everyone. Ikenna |
ES (V6) Engine Timing Belt in 607. Like I earlier pointed out, we have Z8 & Z9, that phase I and phase II 607 V6. Just like we have T6 & T7 in 307, D8 & D9 in 406, etc. The Z8 V6 timing belt (ES9J4S) is to be replaced every 120,000 km or 6 years, whichever comes first. While the Z9 V6 timing belt (ES9A) are to be replaced every 180,000 km or every 9 years, whichever comes first. Now, the interesting thing here is why do we have different timing belt replacement intervals for the 2 ES engines, when in actual fact, they are basically the same engine. One might wonder, why then did Peugeot extended the change interval in 9A? One could wonder, could it be because they realized that timing belt on this ES engines could last longer than the previous 120,000 km recommended on J4 & J4S, and then decided to extend it? The truth, the ES engine works effortlessly. The most quietest engine you could ever owned, no matter how hard you push her. Yes, its that good!. So, timing belt on this engine don't go through stress like other engines go through, hence, longer change interval. One good thing about this V6 engine in 607 is, the only major service you can ever do on the engine is replacing the timing belt when it's due. Nothing more. Once you keep to recommended timing belt change, you will have no business with what inside the engine for number of long years of ownership. The least that could help is the attached sensors or components on the engine will overtime, gradually wear out, as mileage increases. Good thing is, these attached monitoring sensors/components are very much available in Nigeria and sell at good prices. It's normal for these engine attached sensors/components to wear out, like the oxygen sensors, spark plugs, etc. Next to talk about is Cooling system of Peugeot 607. Ikenna |
Coil Packs on 607 V6 engine. The ES engine in 607 has 6 individual coil packs, works independent of each other. The OEM coil is Sagem brand. It's easier to identify the OEM. It has black top. It's detachable. What many owners of lions with that engine don't know is that it can be refurbished,i.e., it was designed to last th lifespan of the lion. It has a diode inside, where the upper and lower parts of the coil meets when detached. The diode is very visible. Because of heat that generates on that cylinder head, the diode does fail, after some thousands of kilometers. So, all you need is to test resistance of the coil. If it fails below factory value, simply detach the coil and replace the diode which is available and cheap (about N200 or so). And that fixes the coil. Just like the Patented MacPherson shock absorber by Peugeot used in the 504 & 505 which is rebuildable. All you do when the strut fails is rekit with about N1,500 and you use it for years or thousands of km before the need to rebuild again. Only Peugeot produced rebuildable shock absorber. But if one doesn't want to be bothered with refurbishing his ES coil, there is another option. The option is a different brand which is sealed one (not detachable). It lasts more than 100,000 km, which users have confirmed. The brand is Delphi. It has white top. Note what I said earlier about the OEM, Sagem, It has Black top, while Delphi has white top. That is, the Sagem is completely black, while Delphi top end is white in color, while the rest is in black color. Of course, the brand names is engraved on them. The Delphi will serve so long that you would forget that the engine has coils. Yes, they are that durable and reliable too. Only that, when they eventually fail, you will have to throw them away and put in another, unlike the Sagem. Now, the Sagem coil is what owners must not discard, even when the diodes inside them fail, because if Delphi stops producing coils for ES engines in future, the Sagem can be brought back to life over and over again, so long as you still want to run the car. Thats for the coil. Next is ES engine timing belt. Ikenna |
ES Engine (V6) in 607 The V6 engines (ES9J4S/ES9A) in 607 are PR engines (Peugeot - Renault), but also co-produced by Porsche. Imagine what an engine produced by these 3 companies would perform like. This is what enjoy in 2 of Lions with that animal under the bonnet. I explain next how to enjoy ES9J4S and ES9A in 607 (XFX & XFV systems). Ikenna |

oktawian:Your post was not pointing at anything Peugeot or subject of discussion in the thread. So, could you help us, stating what Lion you referred to in your post? Ikenna |
Good afternoon everyone. Since this thread is about a Peugeot car, making it an interesting Peugeot discussion, let me entertain you, or rather, feed your eyes on few Peugeot cars.
