slinkky:
Good evening mr Ikenna, my peugeout 307 was miss firing, the idle was rough and i experience loss of power. The mechanic told me it was fuel pump, after changing the fuel pump, the problem worsened. The miss firing increased the rough idling continued, the loss of power continued. When i started the car this morning everything seems fine, it was accelerating very well, the rough idling was bearly noticeable, but after going for like 5 kilometers it start to lose power and after going for another 15km the car stopped. After 5 minutes i was able to start the car but it begin to loss power again after like 500 meters.
When i called a mechanic to check he said its best to scan it. After scanning he said the there is loss of compression on cylinder 1 and 3 , and the only solution is to change the engine.
please is that the only solution for the said problem.
Thanks
The symptoms sounded like low fuel pressure. I would test the fuel pressure with fuel pressure gauge/tester, if I were you.

Notwithstanding, what scan tool did he use? PP2000? It its not PP2000, I would suggest you find someone that has one.

I would suggest next time someone scans your lion, insist on getting the error codes from the person or the scan tool screen. The definition the scan tool gives is not as important as the error codes it gives. For example, some PP2000 error code definitions differ from the generic scanners error code definitions. But the error codes would be the same. You can always research on the code to understand the general meaning better.

Yes, a scan, a proper scan is needed in your Lion, likewise, a fuel pressure test with right tool.

What happens when you den is filled with Lions with no more space to accommodate more Lions ?
lol
Fortunately, I got that covered. I created Lions community 2 when community 2 had no more space. Community 2 is about to fill up. So I will be creating community 3 soon.

We also meet once every month (get-together) to eat, drink, chat and laugh together, both Lions and Lionesses. It's a true Den.

I am happy to also inform you that foreign Lion owners have started joining us, the car WhatsApp Peugeot community.

Good life!

Before now, like i earlier noted in this thread, i used to think perfection does not exist. But now, i have realised i was wrong. Perfection does really exist. Its a choice one has to make to have or experience that life. Peugeot is one of the best thing that has ever happened to me and i will forever be grateful.

Lol! Thank you.

The WhatsApp Peugeot community now has close to 200 members. People are finding the truth and living life to the full.

I have received countless emails, SMS, whatsapp messages and gifts from people I have never met, because they read my findings and testimonies on the lion brand, acquired them and couldn't resist sending their thank you for how amazing they found their lions. It's called Good life!

Peugeot 308 wins European Car of the Year 2014

"The Peugeot 308 has won the European Car of the Year award. The voting announcement has become the first big event of the Geneva Show every year.

This time it was an intriguing battle between a fairly radical 'normal car', the Peugeot, and two extremely radical not-normal cars, the BMW i8 and the Tesla Model S.

But the rest of the seven-strong shortlisted collected favour too. Most years there's a lame runner or two at the back, but this time the other four cars were all close, and far from disgrace.

Here are the exact points, awarded by 56 judges from around Europe.

1. Peugeot 308: 307 points
2. BMW i3: 223
3. Tesla Model S: 216
4. Citroen C4 Picasso: 182
5. Mazda3: 180
6. Skoda Octavia: 172
7. Mercedes S-Class: 170 "

In my opinion only a man desirous of hardships drives a Peugeot and dares to compare a Peugeot with Mercedes.... Talk of being deluded and ignorant!
Well, I started with a V6 Lion. I didn't see hardship. Instead, the same year I started with the V6 Lion, more blessings showered on me that I got a 2nd V6 Lion. About a year later, I added another V6 Lion. I was prospering, because I was happy and good things kept coming to me. Now, another V6 lion has been added. All because my lions makes me the happiest man on Earth and God bless me with my heart desires: More happiness.

Who is right and wrong now?

Can somebody help me out. My Peugeot 406 car suddenly goes off and when you restart it come up again. This issue has been on for sometime now. I have consulted about two rewires to do proper checks. it recommended that I change the fuel pump and service the nozzles. I service the nozzle. yet still the same. Can somebody in the house help me out.
When it comes to Peugeot, irrespective of model, engine model is first thing to identify before considering what or how to diagnose. 406 comes with various petrol engines, which a symptom like yours would need different approach on each of those engines.

For XU engines, I would clean and lubricate the steeper motor, reinitialized the steeper motor to work with engine ECU. If problem continues, I would scan to know the state of the rpm sensor (engine speed sensor). You can do this first.

For EW7 & EW10, I would do I explained above for XU engines.

For EW12, I would scan to know the state of rpm sensor. EW12 engine doesn't have steeper motor. Engine ECU controls the throttle body butterfly through the work of accelerator pedal sensor (TPS). I would also check there is no vacuum leak, especially on intake manifold (even though it should be less culprit for such symptom).

For ES9J4, I would remove the IAC, clean with carb cleaner and lubricate. Reinitialize IAC with injection ECU. Scan to know the state of rpm sensor.

For ES9J4S, would scan to the state of rpm sensor. J4S doesn't have IAC or Steeper motor. Bosch ME7.4.6 system controls the Motorized throttle body butterfly, just like EW12 engine.

So, identify first engine in your lion and know what and how to to troubleshoot.

U gat it right bro, fact analysis......dat s y I keep on saying "usage of d vehicle determine oil services"
Don't you think you are contradicting yourself?

Have you ever taken time to peep into your vehicle owners manual?

You mean the manufacturer didnot state what mileage is recommended for oil change in owners manual of that vehicle ?

Whats the meaning of mileage against usage to you?

What did the manufacturer meant in owners manual when it stated recommended oil change interval for severe use for the vehicle?

To you, even if your engineer ask you to use groundnut oil in your engine, he must be right and not the manufacturer?

There is no need trying to justify why you chose your engineers opinion on your vehicles oil change interval to manufacturers recommendation. Siena was only trying to point out to you the implication of your actions and mindset relating to your vehicles maintenance culture. Let it go!

If you read post well, you would realize i did not support your position. My point was, if what & how your "engineer" wants you to own your vehicle is what you preferred to manufacturers instructions/recommendations, then carry on.

Car TalkRe: Diesel To Petrol Engine by Ikenna351(m):
Siena, you need to understand that its not just a diesel owners thing or anigbajumo issue. Majority, not even most, of Nigerians change their engine oils every 4 weeks-8weeks. Some would start crying as soon as it exceeds 12 weeks (3 months).

I have long ago decided to let people live their lives the way they want. If changing their engine oils every week gives them peace of mind, its ok by me. Because even when you try to correct them, they would bring up their "mechanic" wants, weather or usage theories, like the one going on here.

Personally, my concern is not the waste, but the abuse people met out on their vehicles in Nigeria.

LOL you guys are funny fa. Someone reading this who hasn't driven highway before will think its a big deal.

I still maintain it is not. it's the same road. it's the same cars you see in city you will see In highway, the same human beings driving the cars both in city and highway.

and to those mentioning reaction times being low, agility and alertness etc. I would think all those are even needed more in jam packed intracity driving where there are more cars , and keke or motorcycle drivers can just cut in from anywhere, add pedestrians crossing road at will.

intracity is even more difficult.

Anyone who can drive intracity succesfully with all these then highway will be a piece of cake.
So the same way you drive when you have a tyre blowout and brake hard in the city, its the same way you drive when you experience the same on highway?

The same way you drive bumper to bumper in the city (which 70% of Nigerians are guilty of in the city), is the same gap one should give other vehicles on highway on high speed?

So the same way you would swerve in the city to avoid jumping potholes or hitting objects, is the same way one should swerve when on highway and on highspeed and sees a big pothole or swerve to avoid bush meat that ran out suddenly from bush?

So the same way you would drive while negotiating a corner/bend in a city, is the same method one must apply when negotiating a bend on high-speed on highway?

So the same way a vehicles suspension and brakes would generally behave in the city, is the same way the vehicle would do on high-speed on highway?

Federal Road Safety Commission really need to take the testing of drivers driving skills before issuing new Driver's Licences and renewing the expired ones, seriously. Because the cause of high rate of death on our highways is so pronounced in this thread.

There is no big deal difference riding intra city and highway. Road is road. Just follow same safe driving rules you shouldn't have any difficulty.
What you posted above could lead to a lot of sad faces. Highway drive is not a computer car game. Everything happens in seconds, no time for you to even remember what you have read here. You have to develop the skills.

I blew up my car engine yesterday on my way to an official assignment. It was obviously giving me signs but being a novice I didn't understand the implication. Cos like 15min bfore It went off it was saying 'Oil pressure low'.

The oil was dripping a day before, so I topped it with one litre tinking I could make it for the journey before visiting the mechanic, cos in my thinking it wasn't dropping much.

So painful sir...
Its an EW12 (going by ur discussions). Pls can it be repaired or is replacement my only option? And pls how much.

Thanks.

Mileage is just over 210,000km.

I have decided to change the timing belt, water pump and tensioner but my issue now is that will it affect the oil in the engine. Will changing the timing belt involve lifting the engine and draining the oil in the engine?
EW engine timing belt and its accessories has nothing to do with engine oil, because they are not inside the engine. So, go ahead and replace them and enjoy your lion.

The recommended change interval for your EW10 engine timing belt is every 80,000 km or every 4 years, whichever comes First.
