sultaan:Thank you my brother. May God bless you! Ikenna |
Coldplay007:Very unfortunate that you are still a victim of these mind virus going on, especially in social media, " everyone says its bad, so its bad", without any even testing to confirm yourself if they were right. Let me put this way for you. Do you stay in Abuja? If you do, how often do you see Peugeot 406 on Abuja road these days? Let me rephrase it, can you count tomorrow, out every 10-20 cars you stand to count, how many were 406? For those who already know the answer, everyone in Abuja wants to drive or own a 406. It has become crazy. I mean, 406, 407 & 206 has become like street colours of the whole Abuja city. Now, people were running away from this 406 & 407 because of mind virus they allowed themselves to be infected with. But when they started seeing that people were taking bold step to see what happens and realised they were wrong all the while, the rest jumped in and more are still scampering for the lion. Why did I bring this up? Do you know that the same system in 406 & 407 is the same in 607 you guys are saying " run for your dear life!" The same electrical, mechanical and emission systems in 406, 407, 307, etc, is what is in 607. Honestly, people really perish in ignorance. And the funny part of it is that they gloat about their ignorance. Ikenna |
ogawisdom:The new Peugeot RCZ R comes only with 6-speed manual transmission, with output of 270 hp. I mean brand new, produced yesterday, today and to be produced tomorrow. The brand new 508 launched late last year, 2014, has 6-speed manual transmission as well. For you to state authoritatively that Auto tranny is an upgrade to manual tranny is very wrong please. Peugeot 404 in the '50s had 3-speed Auto trannies. Next time, ask. Don't assume. Auto tranny and manual tranny is upgraded or improved on in parallel. As Auto tranny is been improved on since the '40s & '50s, likewise, the manual boxes are not left out. From 3-speed to 4-speed, 6-speed, Porsche tiptronic and the rest on auto trannies, likewise manual trannies have gone from 4 sp, 5 sp, 6-sp, from solid to DMF, etc. If I may ask, have you ever driven a new Peugeot with manual tranny? Can you compare it to the older manual transmissions in older lions? Its your personal opinion, not a fact and you were wrong. If you had driven a Peugeot 504 & 505 with ZF 3-speed Auto transmissions, you would have known that Auto transmissions have gone a long way in Improvement compared to new Auto trannies in newer Lions like the AM6s. Likewise, a test drive of new Lion with manual tranny and old manual tranny will teach you a lot. Ikenna |
angels09:Well, if 7k fuel is too much for you to spend in fueling a 406 from Lagos to Abuja which is more than 700 km, I believe, then, you probably should be considering a Peugeot 106 or something with Keke Napep size. I am serious. Ikenna |
Update: Just this morning, I got a call from a good friend of mine who ordered a 607 V6 from Germany last month. The lion was delivered to him last night. He called this morning, so excited about the handling, gadgets and performance of the lion after a drive this morning. One thing in life is: Choice! You either choose to be belong to group that miss out good life and complain about it all the time, or you choose the good life by following your bliss. Good life is not for the faint-hearted or safe-zone ones. Ikenna |
Siena:Thank you. I plan to tell the story with pictures in Lions den. Look out for it! Ikenna |
greenhulk:Hmmm! You can't really help it by been so negative whenever the word "Peugeot" pops up, to the point of searching for craps uniformed people post online and in wikipedia on lions. Don't you ever feel its awkward trying to sound authoritative on subject or something you have no clue, no experienced or no knowledge about? Why not ask to be taught ? You said Nigerians are running away from Peugeot 607. Well, for your information, I am a Nigerian and I own a Peugeot 607 and a V6 one for that matter and "I LOVE" the lion so dearly, just like my other V6 Lions. So perfect! Oh! You said the world are running away from the Peugeot 607. For your information, my want,my happiness is greater than that of the whole world. Who cares what the world wants? Who cares what my next neighbour wants? If the world prefers Keke Napep to Peugeot 607, do you think everyone cares about that? Anyway, like I said to the earlier poster, lets here your personal experience as one time owner of the Lion 607 on why you think its problematic car, if that's your opinion. Its easier for me to know a true owner with one or two questions which only true owners would know. Forget about what your fellow man thinks of something unless that man thinks for you. Just like Jesus Christ asked, "But what about you?" "WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?" So please, lets hear from those who have first hand experience about this amazing Lion to share their experiences with us, rather than, " They said, I heard, I read, I copied, etc" Ikenna |
lomomike:That's very nice of you. Thank you. Ikenna |
nurey:Funny enough, you are still emitting that same frequency, "Such luxury vehicle are not your portion". Thats your hand writing on the wall, up there. What made you think the SUV must start wahala to the owner? What made you think the owner would prefer an under Mango tree mechanic rather than a good well equiped workshop? What made you think the owner cannot find a literate mechanic that understands that SUV system? Do you see what I am getting at? Your belief system; your mindset. People would tell you, "Run away from Lions. They are very unreliable and very very problematic". Hmmm! How many of Lions do I currently own? How many years have i owned them, so far? How many Lions have I owned before? To crown it all, they are injection V6s. I am enjoying all and I have not experienced the so called unreliability and problematic people decieve others with. I was telling WhatsApp Lions community the other day what have failed and i replaced on my SV D9 engine since my 2 years of ownership and some couldnt believe it: spark plugs & bank 1 upstream oxygen sensor. How much did they cost? Where are the wahala people were saying I would experience if i venture? Should I talk about my other 3 V6 lions? I have never opened up the engines of any of them and years are still counting. My point is, if you always think, feel and believe certain luxury cars are too big for you to handle or enjoy, it will become your experience; your reality. That's how Law of attraction works. Thats why people settle for less, beause they believe its been "reasonable". Anyway, all I can see in that SUV its a man-made, with injections, ignitions, emissions, control modules, etc, which any good professional scan tool will detect and tell which is faulty or not. And a simple workshop manual or google can reveal the location of these components in the vehicle, how they can be replaced and where they can be purchased. What's the big deal? It's just a mind virus thing a lot of people have become victims to. Ikenna |
nurey:Don't doom yourself away from something you desire to have, for you are simply telling God "wealth is not your portion". Is it only under Mango tree mechanics that we have in Nigeria? Wish good things to come to you, for if the money to buy such luxurious car comes, the money for fixing him in good rich well equipped workshops in cities will be some chicken change for you. The more you think "I can't", the less you get in life. Ikenna |
All Vehicles are fuel efficient. It depends on WHO is behind the wheel, most especially, the mindset, as long as the injection, ignition & emission systems are running in good condition as designed to. Ikenna |
tsiriman:Use Purflux LS867B oil filter in any of petrol engines in 406. Note that we have fake one that cost about N500. Buy the genuine one. You can also get the genuine one at some Total fuel stations. As for how to keep your lion in good shape for good, you will need the "Cars with Attitude!" DVD. https://www.nairaland.com/1942595/dvd-how-prevent-breakdown-expensive Ikenna |
tsiriman:Total Quartz 9000 (5w40) or Quartz 7000 (15w50). Recommended engine oil change interval is every 6 months(twice a year). If you do more of city driving, you can reduce it to 4 or 5 months. Ikenna |
king406:Whats the history? Did you do any oil change work recently? If any, are you confident the oil filter was original? Have you plugged in PP2000 to know the state of oil level sensor and oil temperaure sensor? Ikenna |
BlakPaul:That's really good to hear. Thank you. Keep roaring! Ikenna |
Tesiday:Its a service light, to let you know when to do a major service. To cut it short, below is how to reset the service light: Switch off the ignition switch. Look for a button on instrument panel written '000'. Press and hold the button down. Switch on the ignition with the button pressed down. You will see on that mileage screen "-10". Keep holding that button down. The -10 will start counting down till it reaches 00. Now you can release the '000' button. Switch off the ignition. After 5 seconds, switch it back on. It will show you a small spanner sign with the next due service km and goes away. The spanner sign will remain off with ignition on and engine running till the next 20,000 km or 40k, depending on how they programmed the instrument panel. Ikenna |
Meanwhile, you may have to edit your title. The dashboard showed its 1600 (Nigerian production) and not 1500, unless the previous owner removed and mounted 1600 dashboard on it. Then, from the picture of engine bay you posted, I would suggest you remove the fuel hose from fuel pump to carburetor. The car engine requires original fuel hose, not that fake one. That engine bay generates a lot of heat. You don't want that hose to burst one day. Get a good OEM used one, if you can't get a new one. It must not be a VW fuel hose. Good luck. Ikenna |
Denn:The VW 1500 (Nigerian production) had the /' on rear wheels as factory, especially with the factory slim tyre size. Changing to a fatter tyre will alter that design/shape a little bit though. But it looks better with those factory tyre sizes. Ikenna |
Schwarzenegger:Check on all the 4 door glasses, including the rear glass. You will find some numbers written on the bottom. On the last line, you will see something like .....6. The 6 represents the model or production year. That is, if its D9, then you should first find out the production years of D9. So the 6 there stands for 2006. If its D8, the 6 will stand for 1996 model year. Ikenna |
FlyboyZee:Probably because you guys mentioned Peugeot as having one of the best A/C systems in their cars. Also, Peugeot since the '80s have climate control systems. Even my 1986 Peugeot 505 V6 has the climate control. The chilling is Olalah! I love that Lion! In fact, I will be driving him to Church this morning. I love you guys. Keep the good work going. Thank you. Ikenna |
happydude:I really find it difficult to understand why a Peugeot engine head gasket should fail or get burnt. Because I know the Kind of warning a CAN-bus system in that 307 would give even before it gets to stage of damaging head gasket, yet people will keep driving the car even with "coolant temperature too high. Engine oil temperature too high. Stop! Stop! Stop! Blinking, with loud beep sound to stop the car, yet people will ignore and continue driving the car with all that warning on MFD and instrument panel until the car finally stops moving on its own (which by that time the head gasket is gone), they will turn around and tell the whole world that care to listen that "Peugeot cars are unreliable!". What an abuse! I really don't know what to say in your case. Ikenna |
Schwarzenegger:D8 is phase I 406 (1995-1998), while D9 is restyled, facelifted or phase II 406 (1999-2004+). Ikenna |
Schwarzenegger:All petrol 4-cylinder engines in D8 were XU engines. But then, some early D9 had XU engines as well, together with 307, 806, etc. So D8 cant claim ownership of XU engines. As for reliability, XU engines are as reliable as other engines in Lions. EW engines succeeded XU engines, an improvement. Ikenna |
gloryon:Z9 is another name for facelifted, phase II or series II 607, from late 2004 to 2010. Z8 is the series 1 (1999-2004). As for choosing 307 over 607, I can't comment on that, since I choose my lions myself. I chose 607 because I want it and deserve it. Ikenna |
Schwarzenegger:I don't understand the question. D9 engine D8 especially? Ikenna |
masaratiti:Call or send me WhatsApp message off the house. 08052811236. Ikenna |
gloryon:Tokunbo Z9 cost over 2m. Send the VIN to confirm to you if actually is Z9. Ikenna |
slinkky:What lion is that? Ikenna |
headTO:Contact me off the forum to discuss about the scan. I stay in Abuja too and I have the PP2000. My phone no. is 08052811236. Thank you. Ikenna |
headTO:What engine? Have you scanned it with PP2000? Ikenna |
Good morning. The DVD is still available. Ikenna |
