Siena: Do tell, Ikenna!I am not saying a word until it becomes a reality. ![]() Ikenna |
bimbor: And those 2 extra cylinders aren't there for nothingV6 cars are not meant for everyone. Those that want them go for them without a blink of coming to Nairaland to have people make the choice for them. It's funny when people come to Car Talk to verify a car, you see people shouting, " Don't buy that car, its a gas guzzler; Don't venture, parts are expensive; Don't venture, it has no resale value, et cetera, et cetera. As if they knew the pocket size of the person they are advising; As if everyone is a car dealer that buys today and sale tomorrow; As if everyone cares about resale value, when some buys to drive till the car falls apart; etc. If people starts to let go of Conformity and think for themselves, the world will become a better place. The state of the polity wouldn't have been in a mess if Nigerians had let go of life of Conformity & Dogma. Those extra cylinders are there for a reason. When their need come up, they become handy. Those that understand that don't bother what you guys think of them. Those 2 extra cylinder could save live and get you out of a critical situation on highway or end your life, depending on how and when you use it. A 2.0 Inline-4 406 could take 15 litres to get to Lokoja from Abuja (200 km). While a 3.0 V6 406 coil take 19-22 litres for the same distance and speed. Some people will frown at the extra 3-7 litres the V6 consumed. What is the cost of those litres? N300-N700. Now, N700 will become N7,000 to Nigerians who knew nothing about V6. If you have never used or owned a V6, you opinion on V6 does not count. "My friends V6 is a gas guzzler. It consumes 30 litres per 50 km". But the person that will say this will forget to tell us the state of the friends injection system. You expect a car with malfunctioning injection system to consume as factory designed? You also want to tell me if your I-4 injection system is faulty, your car will still consume less than that faulty V6 injection system? There is nothing wrong with I-4,I-6, V6,V8,V10 or V12. Each serves a purpose and have their do's and donts. You, personally, need to decide which of them that will serve your need and wants in a car, and not what the world "think" its better for you, because the world is not always right. Ikenna |
obitee69: Ikenna I don hear na. My I4 is very fast and rides smoothly. Ur talking of ur LionsI am too old for that. Ikenna |
bimbor: Lol...obitee you don enter one chance, that is Ikenna challenging youHonestly, I only wanted to find out why most Nigerians choose to live the life of Dogma. I was listening to Earl Nightingale yesterday and learnt a lot from him. Men these days prefer others to think for them. It's all about asking the right questions from the right people. You don't ask someone who failed in something how to do the something he failed you are interested in. All my Lions have been V6. Members here who have met me will tell you I am not loaded yet. Why not ask me how I have owned 3 V6s and have never opened up the engines of any of them? How come I could own these V6s, run and keep them in good shape with the little that comes in monthly? How come I have never complained these cars drying my savings or income? If you are interested in Camry V6, find out from those who are using similar car for and not complaining " the pros and cons" they have experienced in the ownerships of those Camry V6s. There must be pros and cons. Then compare it to the pros and cons of your I4 you are currently driving and want to upgrade. V6 engine is just an engine with 2 extra cylinders, more valves, 2 cylinder banks and different engine shape. Any mechanic that does not see it that way, then he shouldn't be your mechanic, let alone touch your bonnet. Ikenna |
yungboss: nice cars man,Thanks. By the Grace of God, another powerful Lion, a cousin, will be joining them soon. ![]() Ikenna |
Op, Nice looking Lion. But your first post lacks vital information about the Lion. Please, state the engine family and most importantly, state the VIN on your first post in this thread. VIN is very important for every Peugeot car. Not stating your VIN will force me to close this thread soon. And please state the location of the Lion as well. Thanks. Moderator |
I am surprised you kept giving the car to the same mechanic to redo timing he messed up in the first place. Find someone else to set the tensioner properly, as factory instructed. Problem is these guys don't read engines workshop manuals. They think if they could do timing belt of Accord 1985 model, the 2010 model will be the same set up. The problem is not timing the camshafts right, but setting the tensioner right. Because if done wrong, it will messed up the proper camshaft position once crankshaft starts spinning. Find someone who knows how to get the tensioner right, simple. Ikenna |

dumo1: Its really a father vs son conversation. Peugeot needs to make you one of their ambassadors. I was just fantasizing about the trip you plan to do with your green 406. I am sooo keeping my eyes on nairaland for that trip. Cheers! Mr Ikenna.I have done the trip long ago with the SV D9. Doing another next week. Ikenna |
dumo1: Mr Ikenna I read your peugeot thread from page 1 to page 54 and the insight u gave other peugeot owners made me fall in love with a brand I knew nothing of. I am not a peugeot owner but I have learnt a lot. By the way that your Peugeot 505 V6 is sexy and she knows it. Is that the only peugeot you have or is the green peugeot also yours?Yes, the green one is mine too. That's the son to the Baby. Below is the father and son having a conversation https://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r770/Ikenna4351/026_zps0bfb6d4f.jpg I love them both. Ikenna |
OmoAkerele: @Ikenna: abi you be winch, I bought her late last year from a Peugeot dealer in Holland who had it in his showroom, he had a collection of classic Peugeot and wanted to get rid of some, that’s how I got luck. It only had 53,000 Km on the clock which for a 1988 vehicle is low. It’s automatic, sadly has no AC and the sound system is crap…but I love my 505, even my Okada plate number na 50553,000 km mileage? Wow! No wonder its still a mint. The auto transmission in it is ZF 4HP22 (4-speed), which succeeded the 3-speed (ZF 3HP22) in earlier 505 model (Phase 1). Even if the transmission gives you issue in the future, you can easily convert or swap in 5-speed box (BA 5/10) compatible with PRV-ZN3J. 604 V6 manual box will fit, but its 4-speed. Or you use 505 conventional 5-speed box, but you change the bellhousing with 604 V6 box or Volvo 760's ( not sure it has stick version though). Even before my Baby arrived, i bought Aftermarket radio (Sony), including Sony speakers (very powerful) while waiting for the Lion to arrive). Its an easy swap. But i had to make a bigger hole for the aftermarket speaker to be mounted. Will attach the pics soon. Hmm! Could see "505" on your Bike's number plate as well. It feels good to have a number plate that says a lot about the owner and the car. I dont know how technical you are, but will share some tips with you on ZN3J. In case you ever have non-start issue in future, below is how to troubleshoot the Jetronic LH2-2 system: http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2850-just-purchased-1987-peugeot-505-stx/ http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2021-v6-problems/ For the ZN3J workshop manual and other workshop manuals like the ABS, suspension, Variable ratio steering, climate control, etc, you will find below their workshop manuals. In fact, the site contains workshop manuals of everything in that car of yours, in case you want to go DIY. It contains manuals of other 505 models. http://peugeot505.info/index.php?id=downloads_manuals&lang=1 Also, I have the soft copy of 505 V6 owners manual, in case you need it. Though, its for American spec & 1989 model. If you ever have any question on ZN3J injection & ignition systems, dont hesitate to ask, including PRVs generally. Ikenna |
obitee69: Pls don't go for d V6 engine. It's problematic and lazy naija mechanics wud endup spoiling it. It's complicated when they want to replace or work on any part cos the engine covers all d space. My I4 engine is pretty fast too aand economical. Please, could you educate us on how the "V6 engine is more problematic" like you said. I am very much willing to learn. Ikenna |
OmoAkerele: I can confirm what Ikenna351 is saying, even here in Europe, Peugeot 505 are becoming rare gem. It took me almost 3 years to find one I liked at a decent price, generally 505 prices in Europe are no longer profitable for exporters, as Ikenna351 said owners are holding on.Wow! Yours still looks like it left showroom yesterday. Mint! Can see that the number plates bear "505", just like mine has now too. https://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r770/Ikenna4351/Mobile%20Uploads/2013-03-26-1028_zps0882b16c.jpg Ikenna |
elbedso: I think you're very very wrong.Of course, I wouldn't expect you to understand if truly you are a female. Simply because you were never a male teenager and wouldn't know what thread like this would do on them. Ikenna |
RCZ Road test review: Mike's story. http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2942-2014-peugeot-rcz-extended-road-test-review/ Ikenna |
This thread is doing more harm than good. The more you people post these images, the more some members, especially kids and teenagers that visit this section, will go out to do the same to prove meaningless point. Not everyone will survive it to come back and post their images or tell their stories. My concern is the bad example this thread is teaching the younger ones. A lot of teenagers have wrecked their parents car, not just to show off, but to prove a point. And that's what this thread is doing: Encouraging them. Funny thing is, there is no big deal with the speed on images people are posting here. Even the tiny Kia Picanto can attain these speeds. What matters is not the speed, but ability of the car and the driver to handle the speed been pushed at. Left to me, this thread shouldn't have existed. Ikenna |

Hello house, I commenced my annual leave today. So, if you are in Abuja and needs my attention on your Lion, i am avaialble now. Ikenna |
frenchbase: hello House,Thats exactly my dreams. To have collections of both older and newer Lions in few years to come. I still regret selling the 605 V6. But plans to get another. Like i told them in the meeting last Saturday, " I dont upgrade cars. Rather, i accumulate". Thats why i take my time before i acquire any Lion. Because they will come to stay. Actually, 2 persons have made mouth watering offers to me, to give up my Baby, 505 V6, to them. Of course, without hesitation, "Its not for sale", i told them. Even my 406 V6, i have lost count. My concern is where i can get a 504 GL in good shape (body), even if the engine is gone. I could easily swap in ZN3J (V6) or XN1A engine in it. But i need the body to be intact. I mean, Clean! I still have plans for another 505. Ikenna |
In todays meeting, will talk on cooling systems: Demonstration on How to bleed (Factory), how to do a quick troubleshooting on an overheating engine (especially when stranded on a journey)etc. Will discuss auto transmissions and best available alternative ATF for them. And many more topics. Time : 8.30 am. Venue: Same place as indicated in the flyer and first post. Ikenna |
For tomorrows Lions owners meet in Abuja, we will discuss & demonstrate cooling system: How it works, how to test and know State of thermostat , simple way to diagnose overheating issue, how to bleed Peugeot cooling systems as Factory instructed and many other topics. Ikenna |
TossFTW: Was I created the topic, Actually i'm saving money and looking for a 407 V6 in good condition, but first i need to sell my "old war" 99 Civic Lx automatic. I'm member of the Peugeot club Brazil, when I posted yours advice/tips on the forum, people loved the information about the car. But it no longer exists, the topic has been delected?Yes, very unfortunate we lost the thread. It was quite an interesting thread. Dont hesitate to ask for any clarification on the car. Ikenna |
TossFTW: @IkennaHi, I still remember. Quite interesting thread that detailed 407 V6. It would have been a best read for anyone interested in 407 V6. That reminds me, we will discuss on Aisin AM6 at Peugeot Owners Meet tomorrow morning. I discovered something interesting any owner of that transmission will love to hear. How far? What did you end up with eventually? 407 or the other brand? Ikenna |
skj1377: . 406 for example the v6 version gets to 170km/h very fast but starts taking time to go beyond at 190km/h it lacks all power. you will have to wait a bit to reach 200km/h besides the road might bend soon and you have to slow down again on and on like that. you also have to put an eye on the temperature the car might overheat when you list expect lastly 406 v6 does not have good brakes if you press the brakes with intensity at 190km/h the car might somersault into the nearest ditch or valley or at best the car will make a loud screeching sound and stop after a considerable distance.I am not surprised such a fable above came from Nairaland. I would be surprised if it came from real Car forums, expecially the French ones. If I didn't own the same 406 V6 you talked about, I would have been confused that you could be right. In your fairly tale story, a car with 4 Brake systems, including ABS will make a screeching sound when hard braked on high speed? In your fairly story, a V6 406 might sumersault when braked hard on high speed? What 406 V6 were you actually referring to? Peugeot or the one they produced in your compound? Because if it was the same Peugeot D9 V6 parked right now in my office car park i drove to work in, then probably you were sleep-typing when you posted that post. Honestly. Please, if your ABS ECU is warning you on MFD or instrument panel, it means you should go and deal with it. We are not even talking about Electronic Brake Force that comes as standard in all D9 V6, aside ESP & ABS that works together. Let me educate you. A fault in ABS system on D9 will deactivate ESP (Electronic Stability Program), until the ABS fault is sorted out. If I may ask, is it the same Peugeot 406 which till date Federal govt uses as excorts for Ministers, Fed. Public office holders, Military & Para-military heads, etc? Those of us that do more of highway driving see the way these escorts drive these 406s on highways, yet they refuse to dump them since you claimed they are not safe on highspeeds. Funny thing is, these 406 they use are all PAN production, meaning none is V6. Now the V6 versions that were designed for speed, you are saying are non handlers, yet the I-4s still remain what these guys use, even as old as these 406s have become? If the 406 has been claiming the life of FG drivers and public officials, why still use the 406 till date for that purpose, even when they have become old cars? You think FG cant afford to replace them since they are not "Safe" as you claimed? Honestly, your Fable has no part 2. As for what you said about 406 V6 power steering hose in the front, you were wrong. All Peugeots with V6 engine comes/came as standard with Variable Ratio Steering, not the conventional PAS (Power Assisted Steering), which started with 505 V6. In 406 V6, it has no steering hose where you claimed. Rather, it has 2 metal pipes directly under the condenser (close to 2 radiator fans) that supplies and returns ATF from Servotronic Regulator. And thats how all their V6 steering are been set up. Any impact that will touch those 2 pipes will touch the 2 radiator fans, A/C condenser and maybe the Radiator, depending on the impact. So preach what you are certain, not what you think or heard. I have hit and ran over a sheep along Lokoja - Enugu highway sometime in the past, on high speed with my then 605 V6 that had the 406 V6 steering set up, yet i didnt experienced your story above. 406 owners will tell you that their temp gauge needle have never exceeded 90 degree celsius, no matter the speed they do or dont do, once the engine runs more than 30 minutes & cooling system in good condition. So, where you got such information about 406 V6 cooling system is weird. Please, have you ever sat behind a Peugeot 406 V6 wheel, let alone drive one? I dont come online to boast to the world the number of speeds I do. Not because I dont like speed, after all, I didnt acquire my V6s to admire their engine bays. But I need you to know you were completely wrong with how you described a Peugeot 406 v6. If you claimed yours "dance"on highspeed, thats a lie, a clear one. But if you are claiming that on highspeed, yours fishtail or shifts tail when you hit a pothole, then I would suggest you go and check your rear stabilizer/Anti-roll bar linkages and bushings. It will happen to any car, irrespective of brand, even the Benz you tried to portray in your post as "Perfect" Cars. In one of the Peugeot forums i belong to, a guy took his Peugeot 406 v6 for a drive in Autobahn (Germany) with someone. His passenger took picture of the instrument panel while on the drive. He attached and posted the picture for all to see. The speedometer needle was resting on the maximum speed (find out the maximum speed of 406 V6 on Instr. panel yourself). But what amazed me was not what the speedometer showed, but what the tachometer showed. I mean, where the rpm was, at the speed the car was doing, was all that caught my attention. I couldnt help but appreciated mine more. Please, you are free to carry on with your campaign, if that makes you feel good. I only needed to let you know someone else own that car you talked about and he "shaked his head"after reading your post. That's all. Ikenna |
I have been receiving calls from people, asking i locate a 406 V6 for them for purchase. On my way home from work this evening, i spotted one. A D9 V6. But i didnt stop to check the transmission and the rest. I couldnt tell from behind the wheels whether it was tokunbo or Nigerian used. But it has no number plates on it. So if you are in Abuja and you are interested, the Lion is in front of ASD Motors, Area 10, where dealers sells tokunbo Lions. D9 V6 is a rare car to find. I knew what i went through before i got mine. So... Ikenna |
Also, I have been buying Peugeot parts and sending to different parts of the country for house members. But to make it easier for me and for the parts to get to you faster & safer, find out for me Transport companies in your locality that do courier services as well, that have branch in Abuja. Because I would rather go to their Abuja branches, any time of the day, register and send those parts, than Driver arrangment. The "Driver arrangement" thing is not my thing; not comfortable with it, since its not guaranteed the parcel or parts will reach the receiver/owner. Ikenna |
A lot of people have been calling, wanting to purchase Diagbox (PP2000 & Lexia3). A Diagbox dealer sent me 1 yesterday, incase anyone in Abuja needs it. So, if you are interested, you can come for it. Luckily, its has the latest version of interface and software that works with windows 7 32 bit. Also gathered it can work with windows 8 32bit as well. So no need for the old windows xp. Ikenna |
RapzyJ: @ Ikenna:Please, I am still very much interested. I dont know why the damn thing is not available in Abuja. Would really appreciate it when i lay my hands on the can. But take your time to send it/them. Well, as you can see in the thread, we are doing fine. In fact, these days, we talk more off the forum. Its been a big happy family. ![]() Ikenna |
RapzyJ: Hi All,Yes, you actually did disappeared. I tried to reach in several ways, but no response from you. Actually, I missed you because I was hoping to get the Electric contact cleaner from you. Lol! Sorry about the accident. We didnt know. If I had your phone number, I probably would have known, because i have most of house members phone numbers, we discuss offline and always in touch. Hope you are well now to drive your Lion and still enjoy all the goodies life offers? How did you solve the Immobilizer issue with the Lion? Ikenna |

Of course, majority will hate me for saying this. But i will have to say it anyway. From Aristotle, "Imitation is the mother of Invention". To the guy who built this vehicle, if you ever come accross this thread, i have below to say to you: I like people like you that have dreams and decided to go for It. Go and read how Honda started and became what it is today, even though he is no more alive. The world rejected and laughed at him when his wife took all her gratuity and gave him to set up a small Factory in their car garage to produce engine and sell to Toyota that have started producing cars at that time. Toyota rejected him and told him the least they could take was the piston. Even the few people he employed to help him produce the engine couldnt withstand the mockery, they Left him. He persisted and continued with his dream to produce engines and get a car company to supply to. He and hia wife were starved almost to death. But guess what, his commitment and persistance eventually made the dream became a reality. They didnt stop at producing car engines, they are now among the biggest car manufacturers in Japan. Who laughed last now? Go and read about how the man that started Apple was laughed at. His father gave him his garage to pursue his dream. His friends laughed at him and called him a "looser". He persisted and got his dream actualized. Now the world use Apple phones and Apple pads, etc. Who laughed last now? Go and read about Bill Gate and most of the richest men on Earth, their stories are the same. Most of them are high school or college drop outs. Yet see where they are today, simply because they focused and didnt give up on their dreams, while the world was against them. One was saying the other day how one of the friends that laughed at his idea he pursued to create wealth, came to him, seeking to be employed in the same dream he laughed at which he has succeeded in making a reality. Life! You know people would say, " Practice makes perfect". Thats very wrong. The wealthiest men on Earth have proved otherwise. Rather, its, " Practice makes improvement". The more you do it again, and agan, and again, and again, you improve. Nothing is perfect, rather, persistence leads to improvement. No car manuafacturer started producing beautiful cars in their early days. TATA is a good example of yesterday. See the cars they now produce. My brother, last words, never ever give up on your dreams because of what people around say about your dreams. In fact, do not let peoples opinion of you become your reality. In life when you decide to take charge of your life, single yourself out and work towards creating wealth, the world will come after you in various forms. But with strong will and commitment, the world will give way for you. Thats why only few are wealthy, while the rest who lack the courage to get there will try to pull you down. If you become weak, you fall back and level with the rest again and remain where you are until you leave this Earth and you have no stamp on Earth. Even God in the Bible says, " If you do not make use of, put in practice or develop the talent He gave you, He will take that one talent away from you and add to someone who didnt sit down on his/her God given talent." Honda is no more, but his dream he actualized lives till date. Your future is in your hands, not ours. Ikenna |
