Many of the persons commenting here "seem" not to have 'spiritual understanding' of the difference(which is very big) between the Old Covenant & the New Covenant, as can be seen in how they so readily quote passages from the old covenant.

Anything you wanna know about the catholic church is in the online catholic encyclopedia just Google it and you'll see that there's no catholic tradition that does not have biblical backing. Btw all these traditions did not start today remember that this is the church Jesus and his disciples left behind. And uhm since we all are followers of Christ why not leave Him to be the judge??

"May the Lord show him(Onesiphorus) him special kindness on the day of Christ's return. And you know very well how helpful he was in Ephesus." (New Living Translation)

Now how does the above verse relate to 'purgatory' Even from the preceding three verses don't mention or even imply this so-called "purgatory", which in my opinion is a doctrine of men (or to put it truthfully - demons)-1Tim.4:1

God's Word wasn't given for people to argue over, it was "given for/useful to teach us what is True and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work"(2Tim.3:16-17)

The 2Tim.1:18 you quoted isn't relevant to our discussion.

Please I'm not here to argue about what the Holy Spirit wrote; its only Him (the Holy Spirit) that can help you understand the scriptures by catching the "spirit" of what is written therein;the LETTER kills but the Spirit gives Life (2Cor.3:6). You can't use head knowledge to understand scriptures.

The call by so-called human rights activitists and gay people for the scrapping of the Bill, is just an opportunity for the devil to spread his kingdom.

Its madness for them to say their human rights are being infringed on; human rights has its limits or else when one is angry with someone, he could easily carry a knife to stab that person and claim he has a right to react when he's angry.

The Bill is prohibiting "same sex marriage" NOT "same sex relationship". They can go ahead and practice their demonic acts but they aren't allowed to legalise such relationship!!  For that the Senate should be applauded; while the House of Reps and the President should quickly follow suit.

Its true there are many false ministers, but your main focus should be to advise christians to beware by Spending time with God's Word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:6), so that they can also confirm what they have heard from the Word of God (Acts 17:11) & more IMPORTANTLY, so they can win more souls for the Kingdom

Religion is: "trying to please God by Works of the flesh"; that's someone thinking God would be impressed by good works ALONE!

Faith(belief that Jesus died & resurrected for us once & for all) is what pleases God, i.e. without Faith its impossible to please God - (Hebrews 11:6)

Its their make-up; God created them so, you would get to discover this more often. There are just varying degrees of expressing such emotions.

You guys are making it out like we wake up and thank Mary or the saints etc. We pray to God. We use the saints/Mary to intercede on our behalf, especially when we feel our prayers are not currently being answered. Just like we would ask someone to remember us in prayer. . .or help us pray over our exams, etc. Angels/saints/Mary are not God. Please understand our practice instead of making assumptions cos we know what we know, and you guys end up sounding silly. No offence.

We know you don't worship Mary; but you guys make so much "big" deal(don't misunderstand me) about her that it seems like worship. Mary was a vessel/channel thru' which Jesus came to earth, just the same way Paul was the vessel/channel thru' which Salvation came to the Gentile nations. They were vessels and humans like us who allowed themselves to be used by God for Great Things.

Its NOT SAID anywhere in the Bible that Mary, Paul, Peter, can intercede for us; but the Holy Spirit, See:Romans 8:26-27 Halleluyah!!!

No one worships her, she is not God. However we regard her, we sometimes pray through her, same way we may ask saints/angels to intercede, or ask a friend to pray for us.

Even the Angel Gabriel honoured and praised her during the annunciation. Her cousin said she was blessed among women and Mary said at one point "from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed".

I feel same way as the poster, i don't know what religion is practised now but it is not christianity. So much falsehood are now being preached for selfish gain, all what Christ stood for have been eroded by different interpretation from the pulprit. Being a Pastor or man of God is sacrificial calling as shown by Jesus (parable of the young ruler), which dictates that those that wants to be called Pastors must be ready to sell all they have, live a life of humilty and lead people to God. They should deny themselves of all worldly luxury and live a life of sacrifice. Nigerian Pastor do the opposite, they are the richest most comfortable men in the society, they drain members off their hard earned money all under the excuse of God's blessings and Miracles. I don't blame the pastors but their gullible followers, they are blindmen being lead by another blindman, they ahve turned their Pastors to demi-god, you are blaspheming if you speak against them. The Churches in Nigeria have not added anything to our development rather they are the bane of so many atrocities. State owned LASU increased school fees to 250k, how can a church speak against this evil when they charge more for their missionary schools!!! Most of the corrupt public servants are deacons and knights in these churches. How many horses did Jesus have when He was on earth but Pastors feel so comfortable owning several Jets, luxury Jeeps and mighty mansions. If they claim the world is coming to an end why are they building edifices that cant be raptured? Jesus never mentioned one word of propserity but thats the in-thing now. I beg to differ about the "Humility" of Jesus as you described it. Jesus, though humble was very rich; he had abundant supplies while He was on the earth geared towards helping Him to spread the Gospel (or Good News). You can attack the flamboyance of SOME pastors, but really its not your place to do so, they will answer to God - Rom.14:4

Let me ask a question: Just because a guy intending to marry has dated 100 bad (or useless, lol) ladies doesn't mean all ladies are bad & vice versa.

I will deliberately refuse to condemn your action, but don't let a few bad eggs affect your spiritual life, its not worth it. I presume that u've been disappointed by certain people(or pastors) u looked up to, but never forget that they still have the HUMAN Flesh covering them like yours. And let the Holy Spirit (not your flesh controlling your mind) guide you in your decision not to forsake the assembly of the brethren. See Hebrews 10:23-25.

Also, NO Pastor has more access to God than you, we all have equal access; the Pastor is just a messenger of God to help your christian walk. See 1Corinthians 3:1-9. So, never be carried away by the manner or failings of a Pastor.

I encourage you to spend time in the Word, while also praying in the Holy Spirit for direction; you would know what to do, guaranteed!!

You are right on point! Before marriage, all troubled areas unknown to the fiance/fiancee should be made known, & the person left to decide if he/she will want to go on with the marriage or not! Saying things like "I don't want to lose him/her" is just being HIGHLY SELFISH!!!

I just got married to the "best wife in the world" last month, so I can speak from experience.

My wife rented her gown for 35k, guess what? It was a brand new gown (the price tags were still on when she saw it) & being the first person to use it, it was as if it was her own. The price of this gown was N150k.
Wedding gowns don't have a 2nd-hand value & since she wouldn't ever wear it again, why not just rent a good one; except of course the couple have excess funds that would sustain them after the 'wedding' onto the 'marriage'.

I understand exactly what you meant. I am just saying let be objective and realistic. What you feel is important may not be important to her. So such things may not come up intentionally before the marriage and some things surface on it own after marriage.

That's the purpose of red flags, it is a warning that something is not right or a secret is hidden.

Its known that somethings definitely would surface on their own after marriage; i'm talking about what was deliberately kept till after the wedding & giving the excuse(when she knows her man very well) that she didn't want to lose the man, hence her keeping it till during the marriage when the man(a believer, who has emotions too) "seemingly wouldn't have a choice (like taking a break from the woman to review their relationship, since its already a marriage)". Point I'm making is that in doing so, they are being selfish,only concerned about how the man would react;trying to keep a relationship by false pretence when she knows her man given her experience with him while dating.

I know females are emotional and deep; they think by keeping something very important from their husbands before marriage, and thereafter telling him after the wedding, can protect them from losing the man. They fail to realise that more damage can be done by such delay; it can lead to distrust, loss of interest, etc.

I'm a christian,(not church goer) and I'm disappointed to say it happens among believers; I'm not implying that male believers don't have their issues/character failings, but female believers should let the HolySpirit in their renewed human spirit to lead them, rather than their fleshy emotions.

I don't know why some people are so sentimental, just like the NLC! Facts are there, you are employed on contract for a 2-year period, contract has expired, they don't want to renew, that's their right! Even if they want to employ Monkeys on a fresh contract, its within their rights!

I was offered employment by this same CCSNL as a Customer Service Staff on contract in 2009; I didn't take the offer(thank God) after hearing the terms of the contract - even when they said its renewable. I've been working at my current place for the past 3 years now(its a full-time employment), hence when I heard the terms, I immediately declined the offer, because I was working full-time already - 8:30am-5pm.

It seems those who are crying foul don't understand what it means to work on a contract basis & seem not to understand that they weren't employed by Zain, but by consultants who were responsible for their salaries based on the contract with Zain that had end date - September 30, 2011!

For those affected, the truth is you all should have been preparing for the contract end date & looking for alternative employment/starting your own business elsewhere. Since it has come to this, you should believe God for new jobs/ideas for profitable businesses! Cheers
