I quite agree that most of the post can be referred to as junk journalism (apart from the fact that its coming from the Tribune, its also unsunstantiated). But that is not to say Banks' dont threaten to layoff workers for not meeting their targets. From experience, having this mentality of chasing targets can enable new employees develop negative ideas so as meet targets & ensure faster promotions. E.g. a lady thinking of opening her legs to a potential customer, a guy thinking of any fraudster whom he can help to launder funds (usually in millions of $), etc. My advice for bankers(Marketers especially) who are under pressure is to look beyond the banking industry when planning out their careers. Just stay a few years, save enough funds & venture into another job or business, except of course u enjoy it. DONT KILL YOURSELF, IF U DIE UNDER PRESSURE, SOMEBODY ELSE WOULD REPLACE U IN A MATTER OF MINUTES!!! |
My Guy u r right; i was waiting for invitation from GTB a long time ago( since April), in June I got a call to pick my offer letter for the company I'm presently working for. Even though i saw adevert for other tests(bank), i've decided to focus on my job especially it since its I.T & its got nothing to do with "How much did u bring last week" (normal question asked by BMs directed @ their marketers)!! I didnt enjoy my short stint in a bank(as a marketer); was always under pressure. |
Mine isn't bad: My Ex's birthday was on Feb 14th & though I was supposed to go for my holiday job (I.T.), I travelled to Lagos (from Benin) to see her (with presents of course) & came back the same day @ 9pm just to surprise her. Didnt tell any member of my family except a cousin |
I was at the meeting with Wilz, Becobenz & 2 others in Festac! I was motivated & even discussed with a banker friend of mine (who complains of no time for himself) & he wished he was part of it! If others are interested, its a good opportunity to do your thing. |
Congrats my guy & all the best! Do u have any idea how much they pay entry level before confirmation? |
Guy! Just trust God that u will be called, except of course, the job isn't for u! From what u have said, its unlikely they'd call u back becos they might have taken the number of people they need. Thats why I said Trust God for it. All the best! |
This is the kind of tread we need on nairaland. My Question is: Can those who are already employed join? |
For me, between 2002 & 2006 when I really followed spanish la liga, I felt Iker Casillas was the best because Madrid had a very porous defence, but Casillas stopped many potential goal opportunities thru his sharp reflexes. Presently, It's tough deciding between Petr Cech & Iker Casillas because of the peculiarity of the teams they play for. One (Chelsea) being good defensively, while the other (Madrid) more focused on attack. |
When one sees or hears banks are increasing their Salaries, u shldnt jump up and down with celebration becos u're going to sweat out 2 times what they are going to pay u. E.g Intercontinental is a bank I wldnt ever want to work for;I'd like a job where my mind is at rest instead of thinking of Suspension or reduction in salary. Imagine if i'm married with children!! |
Must they collect N500?? Is there anyone in the house who has gotten a job thru' them? Pls post, I'd really appreciate ur quick response |
Which kin interview? When i went there, I bought their file for N100 (for holding my credentials). Two (2) days later they sent me an sms, telling me i was successful & i shld bring N1350 for my recommendation letter to the (imaginary) company. Simply ignored them. I saw about 400 people the day i bought their file, i imagine how much they would hammer if each of them fell for the scam!! BEWARE NAIRALANDERS |
For most that responded, its "what if" it happens!! I experienced it; my ex called me aside (2yrs after break-up) & showed me her wedding invitation, but she didnt sound like she was inviting me - she was just notifying me. Of course, i didnt go, even forgot d date. She even called me some months after d wedding, to according to her, "know how i was doin". From the way we talked, i guess she just wanted to be sure that I had gotten over her & forgiven her as per stuffs she did during the short time(8mths) we dated; fortunately i had long gotten over her. |
FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 |
@ poster Just let the guy be;as others have said, marriage is the last thing on his mind now. Let him settle down & stand on his feet. Also, u think of improving urself as well, so that if he still decides on u in future, he would know he's not marrying a liability. I know someone who is in the same position, difference being they are graduates;but the guy has told his babe that he would love to marry her, but only when he's able to stand on his feet. And that if she feels she can't wait, she should move on with her life, that he would hold no grudge against her;afterall age is never on ladys' side. |
Idols East & Southern Africa enables one to sit back & enjoy some comedy. Those from Kenya were particularly very horrible(especially the guys), they just CAN'T SING. Sometimes, i laughed , other times i felt like kicking my TV while watching the Kenya audition. Kenyans should focus on what they are good at, which is long distance races. Auditions from other countries were just ok in my opinion. Everyone has to agree with me on this, while watching Idols East Africa: NIGERIANS ARE TALENTED; see how our music industry shot up in so short a time! |
I'm wondering, is it making a better partner sexually or what? |
@kurrykings & jennivive I'm sorry O. A friend warned me about them, but i still wanted to see for myself. When i got there, the environment itself would get u wondering what kind of job they would find 4 u!! I paid the N100 for the file that would contain my credentials and got an sms 2 days later (from them)telling me i should bring N1350 for "my recommendation letter to the company";i just laughed and ignored it only to get another sms telling me that the position i applied for is still vacant and i shld come with same amount. I'm not desperate for the kind of job they would have offered. Guys! They are only out for personal gain. A REAL recruiting agency has no business collecting money from job seekers; its primary contract is with the company they are recruiting for. So in your own interest, whenever a consulting firm/recruiting agency is asking for money to process ur application, ignore such. An analysis would suffice here: I saw over 400 people the day i paid the hundred naira(N100), just imagine N1350 * 400 people(its obvious they wld have sent those 400+ people the same sms we received concerning the N1350), That would amount to N540,000 on that day alone, which is a conservative figure! To underscore the above, they place adverts in Tuesday Guardian every week for the very same positions! Need i say more ![]() |
I responded to an advert by E.Breakthrough Nig Ltd in the Guardian of 11th March 2008. When I got there (on 15th March) I almost felt depressed;the environment alone will get you wondering what kind of job they are going to get for you. Very local & unprofessional!! I even paid N100 for a file that will contain my credentials. I got an SMS from them (2 days later) telling me to bring my CV along with N1350 for my recommendation letter. I can imagine how many jobseekers would have gotten that SMS. I just feel they are out to make as much profit as possible (i mean really hammer)! |
Is it for intending corpers or fresh graduates? Pls reply!! Thanks |
Where is the test going to take place? Is it in Lagos, if anyone knows the address, pls send it, i'd be grateful. |
Guys & Babes, make una try enjoy unaselves; for me let d day come first, maybe something could come up d nite b4 or I will use d female corpers to console myself after our passing out. |
Its passing out day for me too (Batch A). May i'd show some luv to my female corper friends or better still, select one just 4 that day! |
@ loveeva Thanks! I'd be xpecting ur feedback. |
I believe Naija shld win the match, but only if we play well on the pitch (must it only be prayers). Nigeria 1 Mali 0 |
I got an e-mail from one Tope oladipo & my time said 5pm. I'm wondering why a Company would organise a test in the evening in the Island. Can more people confirm? |
busta u r right! Being single @ first seems relieving & one tends to enjoy the freedom for a while; thereafter, u long for your own, not a one-night stand (who is not really yours). Its sweet being single only in the short-run! |
For me, the interview was an experience (being my first ever). I now know all the areas were i fumbled and would learn from the mistakes. Anyway, I'd be thru' with my service on the 14th (of Feb), hence i hope to be retained by Oceanic. But when i saw the huge crowd invited for the interview, I was sort of distraught because I knew alot of us would go home after the 1st stage;after waiting for so long for the interview to take off! To all of u who made it to the next stage, i wish u all the best of luck. |
Guy! Go & get ur facts right, Zenith is one of the lowest when it comes to entry level, they recently slashed their salaries. |
Guys & Ladies! Wishing u all the best in the Interview! My God help us, Amen! |
Hi y'all! The only test i'm aware of is the one being organised for corpers(batch A) serving with them! This consists of quantitative & verbal reasoning, and questions to test one's knowledge on banking operations (according to what i was told O!!) |
Na wa O! If what you are saying about the interview stages is right, then one should be prepared. Although, its going to be interesting. Looking forward to the 19th. The number of persons invited for the interview is so much, i wonder how they intend conducting 3 stages of interview for each person. Check your e-mail to confirm what I'm talking about!! |
