My friend, decisions on infratsructure development are not made just on perception - even in the so-called rich nations. I'm speaking from a professional point any not an emotive one. Are you telling me that there are more people travelling between Lagos-Kano than people commuting daily along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor.

If the govt can tell me the patronage between Lagos-Kano is greater than Lagos-Ibadan corridor, then I will keep my mouth shut.

My position is, let us develop sub-regional rail lines before talking about high-speed long distance railway. It is one step at a time!
I am thinking you are either the son of Chanchangi, Ekene Dili Chukwu, Chisco or one of this private transport companies who had made and are still making huge sums of money from land transportation and does not want the rail system developed because of that. You are a professional? Well, where are you plying your professional trade? Not in Nigeria definitely.

@i_laugh

This is one of the problems in Nigeria. You can have simple constructuve discussion without being 'aggressive and abusive'.

Yes it will be used, but the question is by how many people? If CECCC or the FG can come out and tell me how many people are expected to use the rail line based on their feasibility then, I guess we can start talking. If this is the way infratstructure is planned all over the world, without any justification, then the whole world will be relying on IMF loan.

Unfortunately, when you query the rationale behind some govt projects, people seems to raise their hands up in arms. I understand that every Nigerian just wants things to be done, but at the same time we cannot allow taxpayers money to spent on grandiose projects that offer little or no economic value. Just because it is a rail line does not make it a 'good' project. Infrastructure planning requires more thinking than we currently do in Nigeria.

www...com
Your thinking makes me sick - you said how many people will use it? So because of that, infrastructures should not be put in place? What is the population of other developed countries where this type of project is done? Do you realy mean what you just said? that who will use it? I am amazed at your thinking line.

@SBO

What do you know? You and many more Nigerians like yourself are those killing the country - do you know the meaning of a white elephant project? So you are saying once completed, it will never be put to use? That is the meaning of a white elephant project, you read the piece of information above and as usual you make a statement that is so meaningless, crude and holds no water - I pity what your brain is made of. Do you have more insight into the project, no!

SapeleGuy:
Oga i-laugh,
At the moment we don't deserve to be in G20 or G100. To argue otherwise is unpatriotic - you will be lying to yourself and your people.
We should reconsider this point again, when we have managed to restore running water to our Murtala Muhammed international airport. If we can't address simple plumbing issues then forget G -whatever number. I make this point about the airport as it links in with the point you made about washing your dirty linen in public - we can't, we no get water for tap!

The Diasporans are as patriotic as you are, they have a different way of showing it. We need to welcome constructive criticism and critical friends because only then can we make progress. We shouldn't silence them by sending letter bombs.

ALL - Let us try and be civil with each other, there is no need for insults.
Oga SapeleWater.

I think it is the time the un ruly Nigerians who live in the diaspora begin to live well and become good representations of Nigeria, that is when Nigeria will be at least seen as a good country, a good palce to be but as long as what the diasporic Nigerians shows the outside world is thugrey, fraud, 419, drugs etc, then, there is no way Nigeria will be seen well amongst the commitee of nations - dont you dig it?

I didnt want to be the first to post in reply, just looking for what will the first post be, but as expected, negative comments and un wanted assumptions. We in Nigeria, we want things to improve, yet, any step taken towards that will be pulled down as not necessary, how will the power sector improve without money being spent? Ok, in your wise opinion, how will you as a person want the power sector to be improved without spending a dime or budgeting millions, so that we wont make people millionaires overnight? Please let us know, so that we can quickly stop the world bank from doing what they want to do.

If a pastor flies around in a multi-billion naira aircraft, while most members of his congregation move around in okadas, BRT buses, and dilapidated molues and danfos, it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for him to follow the example of Jesus in this regard.

Bad belle - so, all you want to see is for these men of God to travel the same way you travel? Would that make them holy and real if you enter a molue and stading amongst the 99 standing folks is one of the men of God? Ask yourself, will you still go to that mans church the following day? Or, you enter a Taxi between Lagos and Kaduna, and squeezed amongst one of the passengers is the man of God, this is what you want to see? What is your point now Mr Holier than thou? Jesus rode the camel - the best form of transportation at that time, I suppose, and folks all over the place was hailing him, man - what is the hypocrisy about?

I dont know what this post is for, but you come out to me to think that it is a big deal being a medical doctor and you should be paid differently and made more comfortable than members of the other professions - i dis agree with you, if you think properly, you will come out with a conclusion that it is no big deal being a medical doctor after all, even if you spend fourty years in medical school, it doesnt mean you will come out earning the best pay packet amongst your pears who probbaly didnt spend that long years in university- therefore, if a banker is making it so much, an IT guy is making it comfortably, a Petroleum Engineering guy is making it so well in the same country where you feel you are not being paid enough, it simply then menas, it is worthwhile to know that it could have been better for you if you had chosen a different profession.
PoliticsRe: Between Nigeria And China, Which Country Is More Corrupt? by ilaugh1: 9:53am On Apr 19, 2009
and to say this thread was started by a Nigerian, what is wrong with you? Why cant you compare your country to other countries in terms of good things, why pick on the bad things to display here? Tell me which country is not corrupt, tell me and prove to me that there is no worse corruption in America than in Nigeria - prove this to me.

I laugh my butts off

Calling someone who has his own personal money to buy what he loves a twerp is a completely derailed way of speaking.- Is he not better than thousands of your brothers who travel abroad to engage in fraud and 419 and stuff and buys cars after cars - what will you call those ones? I think you are simply jealous, hence your rantings in here, when has it become necessary to teach people how they spend their hard earned money? You better go learn how to earn yours.

This is the same guy who loves calling people names, called me an idiot the other day and the powers that be got me banned for replying him - now he calls someone else a twerp - how i wish Mikel can reply him and see what the moda foking nigger will say.
